Hi Phil,
Open the Default framework page .
Click the tool area iview and click edit button. In the properties category select show all.Then change "Enable Collaboration Launch Pad" to 'No'

Hello All,
This is the second time now that when I customize the ToolArea...like in first one I added a marquee and now a clock showing the current time to users.
But in doing so, <b>the Collaboration Launch Pad link disappears</b>.
And I did not touch any code related to it.
I just add a <td> after the <td>of SearchTextBox in ToolArea.
Please help me understand this behaviour? Whatz going wrong?

Inorder to enable your instant mesaging and other activities in the launch pad enable the RTC and collaboration lauch pad property of the tool area iview in the innerpage.Automatically then you should get all the link to activities.
also you can hide some of the properties if you donot want to show them in the CLP.

Collaboration Launch Pad Link dissapeared from Toolbar
Hello,
I need help with the Collaboration Launch Pad.
According to the SAP Help I have configured the CLP, so that it shows the link on the toolbar in the top portion of the screen. It worked fine, until some time ago, when it stopped showing in the toolbar. We installed a TREX Patch somewhere around that time, but I cannot imagine that that could be the cause.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?I already found out, what the problem was. The delta-linked iView Tool Area in the Default Framework Page got somehow corrupted (don't know why - it had two instances of the parameter "Enable Collaboration Launch Pad"), I deleted it and copied the original Tool Area iView into the page again. Then I have set the "Enable Collaboration Launch Pad" property to true and voila, the link was here again

Collaboration Launch Pad - link name

Yes, if possible, I changed it.
You must to modify ToolArea iview .par file.
Go to ToolAreaiView.jsp in portal-inf and replacing the link name.
For example, this is my code:

I Installed BI 4.1 Trial Version.
I am able to open the BI Launch Pad Link on the Windows Server BUT not in client laptop
1. I checked the Tomcat is working fine checking the tomcat link http://systemname:port no
2. same link able to access in windows server.
3. all bo servers and CMS is up and running...
default link http://systemname:portnumber/BOE/BI
any response is highly appreciated!!
ThanksIE 11 is supported by BOE 4.1 SP4.
I am sure that is not causing the issue.I was able to use IE 11 with out any issue on BOE 4.1 SP2 even though it was not official supported.
Have you tried using the fully qualified domain name in the URL.
For example. if you are URL is http://Systemname:portnumber/BOE/BI

Link 1 and Link 2 in Collaboration Launch Pad
Hello,
I'm trying to configure Link 1 and Link 2 options in the CLP. These two links appear activating the EnableLink1 / 2 in Tool Area properties.
So far I haven't find a way to set the properties for the links.
Is there any documentation about this?

To do any modification on the portal tool area
Navigate to
<SAP_J2EE_Engine_installation_dir>\cluster\server\services\servlet_jsp\work
\jspTemp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd.
Copy com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par.bak to your desktop and rename it to .par
Modify the code and redeploy it again
also check Collaboration Administration-> Collaboration Launch Pad Administration -> Link Command
locate link1 or link2

Link for Launching Collaboration Launch Pad
Hello,
At the moment I configure the Minimal Basic Configuration for Collaboration. I want to activate the link for launching the Collaboration Launch Pad. I did all steps but I don't find the link. I know that a link have to be in masthead.
Does this mean that there should be "Collaboration" near "Content Administration", "Content Management" and so on? I don't see a link "Collaboration". What I could do?

If you have changed your framework page, then you should make that
change there also.Because as per the master rules, you will be using
a specific framework page for your id. That can be verified in ur master rules.
So if that is the framework which you have customised , then this change will have to be made there also.

Collaboration Launch Pad as iview in the Portal content
Hi friends,
i have the following problem. I configured the collaboration launch pad (real time collaboration) and it works fine.
I just don´t want to start the iview from the collaboration link next to the TREX search. Instead of that i need the iview with the user status and the possibility to start an instant message session within the portal content.
Does anyone know if it is possible and what is the name of the corresponding iview?

Create an new iView (new from PAR => iView) and select the com.sap.netweaver.coll.shared.ui
Create a link in the iView to the contacts:
In the iView properties add in field "Path for Initially Displayed Folder": /alias/%3Cmycontacts%3E
and in field "Path for Start Uri": /alias/<mycontacts>

This worked, but I needed also to activate the Tool Area with activated CLP link. I didn't get it work without Tool Area.

AS above states the computer seems to run normally as far as turning it on, tabs & pages are fine. But I can't access the system to delete some files.. Which is what the 'error' keeps saying everytime I tr and download a helpful link/app or software.. The instal disc that seems to be stored on the comp says its mountain lion 10.8 install disk 'read only' & this is the only disc it gives me to select to startup.. I have the full software on USB as its very large.. So .. PLEASE TELL ME finally,
HOW to ... Access comp files to delete required memory for software install?? If this is the best option..
HOW to ... Erase everything on computer & install 10.8 via USB?
And when or what enables me to see and use this computer correctly..ie, launch pad? Etc..

IF that is correct, then you are not on 10.8 because the highest OS it can go to would be 10.6
So, you'd either need the original install disks (preferred) or buy a retail Snow Leopard (10.6) - that is as high as you can go with that machine. And, your maximum RAM is 2 GB, so you couldn't go higher with the OS because of that either because it would not run well on 2 GB.
If you do get 10.6, then I'd suggest increasing the RAM to the max. of 2 GB.
If this is not the machine you got (maybe the seller just used any old box), then I'd suggest taking it to an Apple store/Genius Bar to have them sort out how to get out of this mess. -
Problem to open collaboration launch pad
Hi,
I'm trying activate an instant messaging service in my portal.
I've activated the collaboration launch pad, but when I click on the link I get the following error:
"An exception occurred during the program execution. Below you will find technical information pertaining to this exception that you might want to forward to your system administrator.
Exception Class -> class com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException
Exception Message -> Cannot get an instance of the presence state service"
Which can the problem be? I use this version in my portal:

MSS - Reports - Launch Pad - Urgent
Hi,
Am implementing ESS/ MSS (ECC 6.0) . My EP (7.0) is ready . When i log in to portal page, in MSS role, their is functionality called REPORTS. They are not getting executed. Do i need any configuration frm R/3 for alunchpad ?
Pls help as its high priority. Points will be rewarded.
Kirani think you need to configure under Launch Pad, then only Manager's will be able to access the reports.in this launch pad under manager self-service reporting note, you can create a new folder to add all the reports that you want to be accessed by the managers. quoting below the help available under this node for ready reference
"In this IMG activity, you define the applications (links to reports, transactions, URLs) for the Launchpad iView .
For additional information, see the SAP Library under SAP ERP Central Component -> Business Packages/Functional Packages -> Business Package for Common Parts -> Launchpad.
Standard settings
If you are using the Hierarchy then the object types of the hierarchy are displayed as object nodes. The object nodes in this case form the first level of the subdivision of the launchpad. For the Business Unit Analyst you can determine the selection of object types under Business Unit Analyst 2.0 (mySAP ERP) -> Hierarchy -> Set Hierarchy. You cannot change the selection for the Manager Self-Service.
Activities
When you execute the IMG activity for the first time or have not yet saved any settings, you need to decide whether you want to use the Hierarchy. If you do want to use the hierarchy, proceed as follows:
1. Select an object node. When you do this, other pushbuttons are displayed.
2. You can assign all applications directly to the object node. In addition, you can group the launchpad by creating new folders. The folders are used in the portal as headers for the links to the applications.
Choose New Folder. Enter a text for the new folder, and choose Enter. The folder is added below the selected node.
3. To create applications, select the object node or the folder to which you want to assign the applications, and choose New Application.
4. Enter the required data.
5. Select the application category. Depending on your selection additional input fields are displayed, which you can use to specify or select the parameters of the application.
6. If you want to enter a description that is displayed in the portal under the link but is to be longer than 255 characters, choose Editor for Description to the right of the field Descript..
7. Enter the System Alias (except for URL).
If you donot want to use the hierarchy, first select the uppermost node if this has not already been selected. The uppermost node then takes over the functions of the object node. You can therefore assign folders and applications direct to this node without a hierarchy.
The inactive applications folder is used for collecting the applications that are available in the portal, but that you do not want to display. These applications are displayed in the" -
Slow Performance BI Launch Pad - BI 4 SP2 patch 8
Hi experts, i have this seriuos problem: i have installed BI 4 SP2 patch 8 on windows server 2008 server based on 12 GB Ram but when tree user access at the same time at BI Launch Pad, the server has an lowering performance and to access in BI Launc pad is necessary attend long time.
Could you help me? Are there some configuration parameters to set?

been raised for the same.
- Please go through the attached KBA '1933935 - BI Launchpad search
failing with error "The property with ID SI_CUID does not exist in the
object" for non-Admin users' for more information.
- As per the ADAPT details, it is targeted to be fixed in BI 4.0 SP10
which is scheduled to release in July 2014 week 30
- The schedule is subject is to change without prior notice. You can

I have a PDF Form create in LiveCycle and I wanted to add it to the CMC so users of the Launch Pad could all have access in one place to all company forms, and it looks fine, but the buttons no longer work, (submit, print, drop downs), and the tab order is all over the map. Is this not possible?

ErinThe feature you are looking for is not avaible out of the box. You can write a custom java code and schedule it update the PDF or something.

SAP Portal Transaction Launch Pad
We have a requirement to launch SAP transactions through the portal like backend ERP. Has anyone replicated this launch pad capability in portals? I know a consultant had written sample code and posted it to SDN backed in 2003 to accomplish this task (similar to unification except without drage and relate). This code obviously does not work with newer version of portal (nw04). The original SAP workplace portal from years ago had this capability. Any info around this topic would be much appreciated.
I used the role import a while back. I gather that the synchronization issue may be resolved now? I'm not sure. Maybe you should open a new question here for that.
I used the launchpad on EP6 SP2 (i.e., pre-NetWeaver). However, it is based on the unification technology, which hasn't changed since EP5. So nothing important about the guts of it had to be changed (and probably still don't have to be changed).
It was used to replace a WorkPlace implementation, because the customer wanted the look & feel to be as close to WP as possible. So we tweaked the code in a couple of ways:
1) We didn't like how it replaced the tree control with a transaction iView that took over the whole workspace (which caused you to lose the tree view). So I made it into a frameset: a narrow column with the "iPanel", and a wide column for the workspace (again, like Workplace). Then the target of the tree links was modified to write to the frame with the wide column.
2) We had ITS 6.20 links (/scripts/wgate...) and Web AS links (/sap/...), depending on the backend system. So the link syntax had to modified accordingly. They also wanted just plain URL links (because WP had them), and they had to be added as well.
