Launch problems mac osx10.9.1 and indesign cs5/cc
We have recently upgraded to mavericks 10.9.1 on imacs. indesign CS5 wont launch, we have updated with java2013-5 but this hasnt helped. We then tried a trial version of indesign cc but this wont launch as 'you lack sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders'. Can anybody help on either issue.
Then uninstall ID and reinstall (and if you are going to keep both versions, reinstall CS5 first).
And don't forget to run updates for both versions.

I'm currently having problems installing Illustrator CC (2014) and InDesign CC (2014) on OS X Yosemite. Both applications fail with the message "Installation Failed: The download appears corrupted. Please try again after a few minutes.(-60)".
I've tried uninstalling Illustrator CC and InDesign CC and then reinstalling, but still get the same error message. Other applications in Creative Cloud all install without issues.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and resolved it please?Sorry for the slow response. My Mac wouldn't boot following a failed Yosemite update. I've since reinstalled Yosemite but the exact same problem persists. My Mac is standalone and not on a managed network.
Thank you for the troubleshooting link. I've tried the recommended fix for the -60 error but it doesn't appear to be possible to download the trial version of Illustrator or InDesign for CC editions. They just trigger the Creative Cloud installer and shortly after the -60 error again.
The problem is still specific to Illustrator and InDesign and I've tried uninstalling all Creative Cloud applications and reinstalling. Every reinstalls except InDesign and Illustrator. -

Can i install Illustrator CC with Photoshop CS6 and Indesign CS5.5 or can i have some problems of compability? I use Windows 7. Thank u...
Generally this should work, but of course there may be occasional compatibility issues across the different programs and their different versions.

Does Adobe allow exchanging my Windows version of CS6 Production Premium and InDesign CS5.5 for the Mac version? (The CS5.5 box is unopened, and the CS6 is in mint condition.)
You might be able to do something for the CS6 product, but as far as the CS5.5 application goes it will not qualify. See the following:

Installing older software,Illustrator CS3 and Indesign CS5, on new laptop
I've had to abandon my desktop as it was beyond repair and have tried to install Illustrator CS3 and Indesign CS5 (cds) on my laptop. I get a message saying that there was a problem with licensing. I own the software and can't find anyone to speak to at Adobe. What is the next step?
Hi Aryson,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Please provide the exact error message.
You can refer to the below articles however for licensing issues.

So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
t for text
z for zoom
v for pointer
It's annoying because now I have to keep going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
Annoying but workable.
Has anyone else go this issue?
An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.WARNING!!!
I was contacted by apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
They logged in to my computer via team viewer
installed utorrent
and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
you have been warned! -
Running OS 10.6.8 on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 Mac can I upgrade from Indesign CS5 to CS6?
They do, but what happens when the client(s) move to CC? Of course doing
so opens a new can of worms for you since 10.6.8 is unsupported for
anything later than CS6.
You should start budgeting for some upgrades sooner rather than later. -
Hi - Indesign CS5.5 stopped working after I upgraded to mac OS 10.7.3. It was working fine before the upgrade... It keeps crushing during the launch. Photoshop seems to work fine but the same thing happens when I try to open Illustrator. I reinstalled CS 5.5 suite but to no avail.
Here are some info from the crash report:
Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'launch path not accessible'
*** Call stack at first throw:
I don't know what this means since I'm not that tech savvy... Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
MI thought I deleted it by using app zapper but could it be that some parts didnt' get deleted? idk...
Any time you choose to use a third-party software removal tool instead of the vendor's own process, you run a risk of it failing in subtle and annoying ways. Generally speaking, you're better off without tools like this. -
Problem printing fra Acrobat 8 and Indesign CS3
Hi Forum
My setup is a Powermac G5 with 10.5.8 and a Epson 1400 and a Epson c8500. I have checked, that I'm using the latest drivers from Epson.
My problem is then I print A4 PDF documents to these two printers, the prints will be cropped, it actually seem like the top and bottom margins of the printable area are wrong. Scaling is set to none and I have also tried printing as an image.
I have tried using Acrobat 8, Adobe Reader 9 and Indesign CS3, also behave the same.
If I use Preview, my prints will look just fine.
I tried the same from a Macbook pro with 10.5.8 and Acrobat 8 and 9, and from this computer things work correctly.
So it's seems to be a problem with an Adobe related file or setting.
anybody seen this before?
kind regards
LarsOur office is printing fine from ID & PS CS3. This is from Intel & PPC Mac's running 10.4.9.
What is your printer and how is it configured for printing, ie USB or IP.
Also, have a look at the cups error log. You can find this via System Profiler > Software > Logs. This will show which process is failing for the spooled job. You can post it back here for more help. -
Printing problem with Epson R290 Illustrator and inDesign
I am running CS2 on Leopard and have recently purchased an Epson R290. The first time I used it with Illustrator and InDesign it worked fine but now whenever I print anything it prints a tiny version (about a sixth of the real size) of the design in the top left corner of the page. It does this both with new documents and old ones that used to print ok.
Since I posted the message about this problem I have discovered that it can be worked around by choosing a higher quality print. ie if you choose plain paper when printing from Illustrator or InDesign the printer prints a reduced size image but if you choose Ink jet mat or glossy the print comes out fine. I don't have this problem with Photoshop but that may be that I always print high quality from that application. I don't use Appleworks Draw so don't know whether this solves the problem for that application but iWork documents print ok.

Those postings are pre-10.6.7 so th solution did not work for me.
I used BatChmod to set permission described in the posts for
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 7.0
I renamed the ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 7.0 so a new
one will be created on ID relaunched.
Neither step worked.
I have a hunch that it's font related. I used Suitcase Fusion 3 v.14.0.5
(162) to manage my fonts.
Apple really screwed up badly this round.
Thanks.

Problem with CS3 InCopy text files and InDesign CS5
I have a large annual magazine that I am developing. There is one section that doesn't change much from year to year and I was hoping to grandfather in the InCopy text files from last year's edition. I've successfully used this strategy the past few years without issue. However, now when I try to check out those text files from last year, I receive the following message "This story needs to be coverted to "InCopy Document" format in order to edit it."
I am running both InDesign CS5 and InCopy CS5 in SL 10.6.4. The previous year's magazine document was in CS3 InDesign format and the text files were in InCopy CS3. Is there some sort of compatibility issue? Is there a specific method for converting them so I can check them out in InDesign? I haven't attempted to check them out in InCopy CS5 yet but I will try that next. But I really need the ability to check out the content via InDesign too.
Thanks in advance.
RobertAFAIK, you're going to actually need to open the INCX files in InCopy and then resave them as ICML file. You can then relink them all in InDesign.
Other choice is killing the InCopy links and then relinking everything.
Best practice would be to finish any job started in CS3 with CS3 and then move to CS5 with new projects.

Hi there
This Mac is quite new and was originally a migration (using Migration Assistant) from an older Mac.
Illustrator and InDesign in CS5 were both crashing often and most of the time it's when placing an image (in either application) – it doesn't crash each time I try to place an image, but 90% of the crashes are when placing an image.
We tried lots of things, like cleaning out the fonts, clearing font caches etc. After several months of that, we decided to wipe the Mac clean and start from scratch. It has been reformatted with a clean install of the OS and only minimal additional software added. Although quite a few fonts have been reinstalled, they all validate in Font Book.
One other thing of note is that the Adobe Updater fails to complete an update and so we have had to update each application manually from the Adobe website.
I would be so grateful someone could help shed some light on what is going on. Here's an EtreCheck report. Can also provide crash reports from the Console if useful.
Thanks!
