Launch Services can't find app
I have installed the program Macspice which has the ability to set the text editor helper application via the bundle code. However, when the edit command is used in Macspice, the error message "launch services can't find app textedit" appears. Does the code need to be entered manually somewhere? I have already tried resetting launch services per an article by Dr. Smoke to no avail. I am, of course, a new Mac user and would appreciate any help. Thanks.
Hi, mloggins. Welcome to the Discussions.
I presume you are referring to my "Resetting Launch Services" FAQ.
This sounds like an issue with Macspice, not Launch Services. I suggest you contact the developer.
I presume you're running the Universal Binary of Macspice and that you have TextEdit installed in the Applications folder where it should be. If you moved TextEdit.app, put it back in /Applications.
One thought: If you provided the name of the text editor by typing it, vs. selecting it from an open/save-type dialog, be sure to type TextEdit or TextEdit.app or /Applications/TextEdit.app (full path) and not textedit as UNIX is case-sensitive.
Good luck!

I can't find apps that I've just downloaded out of I tunes on my Mac mini
I can't find apps that have been downloaded on my Mac mini
When you say you downloaded apps "out of iTunes" that would imply iOS apps for the iPhone or iPad. Those will be found in ~/Music/ITunes/Mobile Applications where ~/ indicates your home folder. You can install them on the iDevice by attaching it to your computer with a USB cable and launching iTunes.
I you meant you downloaded them from the App Store, those are only for OS X and will be automatically installed in the /Applications folder on the hard drive root. -
I can't find app for iPad first generation! Why ?
I Had an iPad first generation and I can't find app under iOS 5.......why And sometime m'y IPad close alone.
Apple requirements now ask to make them for iOS 7 and above. iPad 1 has become outdated and there are barely, if any, apps available for this device.
If your iPad restarts on it's own, try restoring to factory settings.

i can not find "app of the day" from app store on my ipod, how can i find and download it?
It is possible that the app was removed from the App Store. If so you will not be able to get it back, unless you have it downloaded on your computer.
If you had downloaded it before and it is still in the store, you can go to the App Store app on your iPod and go to the Updates tab. Then you tap on "Purchased" and see if it is available to download from your previous purchases.
Hope this helps!

PC went south. Geeks brought it back. PS elements and premier 11 can't start. Error msg sez configuration incorrect needs to be reinstalled. When I load the disk I get a blank screen. Try to uninstall and can't find apps i control panel. How can I get the apps back?
adobeamatuer
Thanks for the reply.
Although the security of Windows XP SP3 32 bit is compromised by Microsoft no longer supporting XP, if Windows XP was restored as claimed, you should still be able to install/uninstall Premiere Elements versions of it that you did before the Microsoft support removal.
I think a revisit to the Geeks would be in order. It may be that they could not restore Windows XP because of the Microsoft non support. I would take along the Premiere Elements installation disks so that you do not leave there without actually seeing Premiere Elements (or a non Adobe program) running on your restored Windows XP. What was the other software that you tried to use that did not work?
Please update us on your progress when you get a chance.
Best wishes
Thanks.

Even when I type the exact name of the app, App Store can't find apps I know worked very recently.
Example: Shoeboxed Business Card Reader
If you search it in App Store you get absolutely no response. It's a product. They have a link to it on their website. But, if you alternatively go to their website and try to get it from iTunes:
HootSuite is also a widely used app. Or, it was. It's also not in the iPhone search for apps, and won't let you install it from iTunes either.
If you go from the website direct link:
It's not in the Canadian store either, by the way.Hi,
I have the same problem, I have been in touch with the Apple Support but they have not given to me a time to the problem be solved, it seems to be a general issue -

If you have the 1G iPod that can only go as high as 3.1.3. You get that here not through iTunes update.

ITunes can't find apps on iPod Touch and doesn't sync album artwork
Ugh. Here I go again.
I have an iPod Touch (4th gen), 2010 MacBook Pro, all the latest operating systems and updates.
My iPod Touch crashed a bit and so I wanted to sync it again (using the USB cable, not wirelessly).
(1) Suddenly, there was no music on the iPod Touch. I managed to get that fixed.
(2) After a couple of syncs, I was repeatedly getting the message that the iPod Touch apps "could not be synced because the apps could not be determined." A couple of plugging and unpluggings allowed iTunes to "find" the apps, but this is weird.
(3) And now, what's bugging me -- and this happened a year or so ago -- very little of the album artwork synced over to the iPod Touch. I have 600-800 albums. All of the artwork is correct on iTunes. About 10% of the artwork transferred over to the iPod Touch. (Then I synced my iPad, and all the artwork is correct on the iPad.)
If I remember correctly from last year, eventually -- after many successive syncs -- the album artwork made its way correctly over to the iPod Touch, and maybe I'll hope for that this time.
Does anyone have a more direct solution? Checking and unchecking some boxes on some syncs? (It takes a good chunk of time to sync over my music, so I don't really have to time to delete and sync repeatedly just as shots in the dark.
Any ideas? All thoughts welcome. Thank you!Taking off all the music and then putting it back on took care of the album art, but I'm still getting all kinds of funky behavior -- iTunes can't find the apps, then it can't find the iPod altogether, and it's adding duplicate songs somewhere. It said it was going to load 3,232 songs, but I ended up with more than 3,400. Weird.

Can't find App for an activity tracker is AUS store..only available on US store
I just bought a wireless tracker from the US.
I live in Australia.
The recommended app to use is from the US store but I only have an account in the Australian app store.
I tried to sync it via bluetooth but my iPhone can't find the device.
It doesn't mention anywhere on the product that it is only for use in the US.
Any suggestions on how I can access the app(or one that will work with the tracker) via an Australian App store?
The product is by Sharper Image and it's called a Wireless Activity Tracker #STRX10
ThanksIt does appear the app is no longer in the App Store. Best advice would be to contact iTunes support:

How can I find apps that are not in my local iTunes Store ?
I am trying to find apps that we've seen on a friend's iPad however I cannot find them back in our local (South Africa) iStore. Is it so that the European iStore has more items to download than the South African ? Is there any way that I can get apps from another store ? E.g. I was looking for Supermania 2, Luxor HD, RealTennis, WorldCupFever but they give no results when doing a search in iTunes...
You can only buy content from the country in which you are located and you must have a valid credit card registered to an address in that same country.
Only apps and books are available in South Africa and if the apps are not in your store, according to Apples terms and conditions, you cannot purchase them. -
Ipod touch 2g w/ iOS 4.2.1 can't find apps compatible
I am really disappointed that it is so difficult to find current apps available for ipod touch 2g with iOS 4.2.1
it seems that apple should make it easier to find apps and make more current apps available for the older models. I am especially wanting google apps. Google voice, talkatone, google drive, google maps... but can't find any compatible with my ipod touch 2gsteve.travis wrote:

Hey, that's pretty cool. It's certainly better than my meager interface (iOSSearch). I'll probably link to it from my page, so long as you intend to keep it advertising-free.
Also, I can't see how the filtering is done. I think you should put in an information page with your search terms, because they are very specific and easy to mess up. I missed an oddball search term for quite a while, and I'm still not 100% sure I'm getting everything.
I see you decided to cough up for a custom domain! Pretty fancy.
