Launchd -  RunAtLoad won't work if I log out and back in

The plist that I have configured to "RunAtLoad" won't work if I log out and back in. The only time it will run again is if I restart the computer, is this supposed to happen? I have a plist that runs a script that I want to have loaded everytime a person logs into a computer. Since this computer has many users I thought it would be practical to use launchd instead of putting it in eveybodys login items. If there is another way to run a script at login that would also be helpful.

"Login Items" are configured in a user's "~/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist" file. If that file is placed in the system's main "/Library/Preferences" folder, and the permissions changed so that all users can read it (but not write to it of course), then it should open the listed items during login for all accounts.

  • On my daughters iPad mini she can not send messages. She can receive them but the send button stays light gray after you type a message. It worked when we first set it up but now it does not. Tried resetting and logging out and back in. With no change.

    Thank you for the details of the issue your daughter is experiencing with sending messages on the iPad.  It sounds like you might have the Subject Field turned on. To disable this go to Settings > Messages > Show Subject Field.

    It might be that you are logged in with HTTP authentication (either basic or digest). This authentication is arranged by the browser, so you would have seen a pop-up dialog asking for a user name and password while logging in. It seems that these are cached by the browser and it requires you to restart the browser to log out...

    Because I found that having to restart the browser quite annoying I stumbled on this question and also on the HTTP Logout add-on that allows you to log out without restarting your browser. Not many sites use HTTP Authentication, but you might give it a try.

  • Lr CC won't open. Tried signing out and back into CC and other suggested solutions.

    I use Window 8.1. Downloaded CC trial two weeks ago and installed Lr 5 and Ps. I created the Lr catalog in a location other than that suggested by Lr 5 (a secondary drive). Lr 5 and Ps worked fine and I intended to buy the Photography package. Then I upgraded to Lr CC and uninstalled Lr 5. Lr CC won't open. The Trial screen appears, I click on "Continue Trial," it goes away and Lr doesn't open. I tried signing out and back into CC numerous times, I uninstalled and reinstalled Lr CC and even the CC app, still nothing. I tried deleting the .lrcat.lock file but couldn't find it, so I deleted all the catalog files and folders (it was just a practice run). There seems to be no way to get Lr CC to open.

  • IMac much faster after logging out and back in.

    Last week I installed a piece of software that required me to log out then log back in for it to take effect. After logging back in I noticed that my iMac was running substantially faster than before. When I went to reopen Safari and Mail the applications just appeared with barely a bounce in the dock. Normally my iMac runs OK, but this is noticeably faster.
    When I reboot an am automatically logged in I get the same OK performance, but if I log out then log back in I'm right back to running very fast.
    Does anyone know why exactly this happens? Or if there is a way to keep from having to log out then back in again to reap this benificial performance?

    Yes, it does release memory, Diane, but what is puzzling is that there is absolutely nothing that logging in and out accomplishes that a restart wouldn't also do. I don't doubt that his system is faster, but I don't know why that would do more than just shutting it off and turning it back on again, which is where the mystery lies.

    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

    I changed my apple id because my email has changed. I've updated everything I can think of on my iPhone. I've logged out and back in and I still get a " your apple id has been disabled" message every time I try to update my apps. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.     When you say you have changed your Apple ID, how did you change it? Did you maintain your existing Apple ID via Manage your Apple ID and EDIT it to a new email address, or did you set up a brand new Apple ID?

    first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
    next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
           next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
        oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you!

    My old nternet account was cancelled and with it my emails. I updated my apple id and password in all my devices (ipad, iphone, imac, except for my moms iphone. I am trying to log out from my old account and set her up with her own apple ID and iCloud etc but it does not let me log out. I have a notebook with all my passwords in it so I know for a fact the password for the old ID/ email is correct yet a window keeps popping up that it is incorrect. I have spent hours reading and trying to fix it myself and nothing is working, same window keeps popping up. Any ideas on what to do?     Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted. Please use the following article as a reference.

    Change your Apple ID temporarily
    If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
    Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.

    Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
    Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
    Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
    Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
    Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
