Launching BEx query in the Internet

Hi,
I have a query having variables Company Code and Fiscal Period/Year. I run it and it generates and shows the selection screen . I fill the selections and it displayes the results fine in Excel .
However when I am trying to run the same query using Web Application Designer, it doesn't show me the Selection Screen for the variables.
Can someopne please help me out.
Thanks

Hi Arvind,
Are these variables optional entry ones? In that case you will need to select the web template property: Force Variable Screen in order for the variable screen to pop up when you run the web report.
Hope this helps...

  • Problem while opening Bex query on the web

    Hello BW experts,
I have a problem while opening Bex query from my SAP Favorites.See below.
When i double click on the query, i get the following page, with the server name KBWS01QX.
But, from RSRT Tcode, select the query > query display as HTML > Click on ABAP Web , click execute as shown below, it is going to the correct URL as in the 2nd screen shot below.
My question is why is it going to the wrong URL when i open it from  SAP Favorites menu?
I want it to open the same URL as it opened from RSRT(which is the right one)
What is the Config needed to make it to work from SAP favorites.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks alot.
    SV

    Hello,
Thank you all for your responses.
    See below some additional info.
From RSRT, this time I clicked on JAVA WEB, and i get the below URL, which is the same URL i was getting when i executed the query from SAP favorites.
    http://kbws01qx.xxxxxxx.com:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=ZCONSUMPTION
Also, i have executed the Function module : RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET and i get the below values.
It seems that it is trying to connect to Java portal something services may be, but i want it to open in ABAP web only.
    Please help.

  • I upgraded to itunes 6.0.4, it only launches when connected to the internet

i recently upgraded my itunes to 6.0.4, ever since i did that, the itunes doesn't launch except when i have internet access, when i try to launch it anywhere else it says application not responding, what do i do?

one more thought -- perhaps one of the other iTunes preferences relating to internet connections is set to always on. If so, try turning those OFF (while connected to internet, so iTunes runs in your case).
Possible settings to check in iTunes preferences would be:
    - Check for iTunes updates automatically (turn this off/UNcheck the box)
    - Show links to Music Store (turn this off/uncheck)
    - Podcasts: Check for new episodes every whatever (change to MANUALLY)
    - Podcasts: When new episodes available (change to Do Nothing)
    - Sharing: Share my music (change to off/uncheck)
    - Store: Load complete preview before playing (turn off).
You might also try turning off some of those features via Parental Controls, which might stop the internet access.
If you want some of those features, once you have gotten iTunes to work (assuming my methods succeed), you could re-enable them one at a time, and checking that iTunes still comes fully active after changing one setting, quitting iTunes and restarting to make sure that single change did not cause it to fail. Best.

  • How to publish a Bex query on the portal

    Hi Guru,
I have created some Bex queries and I want to publish them on the portal and give access to users.
Is it mandatory to put the queries in a web template before publishing ???
Can I publish without creating a web template ???
In case of web templates, how to publish them as url on the portal ???
    Your help will be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You need not to create web template to publish query in portal.
there are two ways for publishing
1)Go to query designer Click on Query -> Publish-> To portal
here you select the path where you want to create the iview
2)Log in to portal setect the folder in which you want to publish report.
right click -> create new iview -> select BI 7.0 iview -> next -> iview name ie report name -> next -> Application parameter -> here you need to write QUERY =Query technical name -> next -> finish
    Try this,

  • Crystal didn't show the BEx query Attributes description changes/Values

We experiencing the BEx query attributes/crystal report  issue.
I create a crystal report using BW- BEx query. Bex query displays the attributes values. But in crystal report side it didn;t show up the values as well as description changes.
But If I change the display properties of attributes (different from one attribute to another) the crystal report reflect the values. But crystal report didn't show the Attribute description changes , the one i did it in BEx query side.
    Example:
Bex has a Masterdata as well as attribute Field1, Field2 etc.. I changed the description like Field_Test1 and Field_Test2. Also I changed the display property for Field_Test1 is Key and text and long , Field_Test2 is Text & LOng text.
I  got the attribute values is crystal report Xi R2. But crystal didn't reflect the description changes?
    Suggestions Please?

  • No data in WEBI report - but plenty of data in the underlying Bex query...

HI all - I have a problem with my webi queries - which are sometimes breaking...
We run in the XI 3.1 ans SAP int, kit - SP 2 on both.
Sometimes af perfectly well functioning webi report suddenly returns no values - stating that the query didn't find anything. However - if I run the bex query with the same selections I get plenty of data. So there is data. Therefore it might be a Int. kit problem - however, when I bulid a new webi report - similar to the first one, with same dimensions etc. but without all the formatting - It runs fine too!!!!
So it seems like somehow the original webireport has lost the connection to the measueres which it holds - has anyone any idea to what the cause might be and how to fix it?
By the way - I havre refreshed the Universe and there is nothing to update.

Hi Ingo - the MDX statement from the MDX trace - does not yield any data - However, if I make a similar selection in the BEX, there i data avaiable - so it might be a problem with the how the MDX statement is generated.
I've trouble shooted further and my learnings are so far:
The problem is caused by a combination of 5 dimensions
If you remove either one of the 5 dimensions - the query returnsdata
If you add a specific meausure (a restricted bex key figure) - data is also returned - also in the other measures.
The MDX statement looks like this:
    SELECT  { [Measures].[D6ZWIC1Q7MOA2YCJM1LAPRQNG], [Measures].[D6ZWIC1Q7MPTG70294GIUMJ70], [Measures].[D6ZWIC1Q7NGQDWFMH0MZ7LEP8], [Measures].[D6ZWIC1Q7NI9R53543I7CG78S], [Measures].[D6ZWIC1Q7NWVQXAK7CQUMKQEK], [Measures].[D6ZWIC1Q7NYF45Y2UFM2RFIY4] }  ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( [0CALMONTH2].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS, [0REPTT].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [0EMPLSGROUP].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [0PAYSCALEAR].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [0ORGUNIT].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [ZBOORGUNT                     ORGEH                         01].[LEVEL00].MEMBERS ) ON ROWS FROM [ZMPHPTGL1/ZDQHPTMN1] SAP VARIABLES [0P_CALMO] INCLUDING [0CALMONTH2].[12] [0P_CALYE] INCLUDING [0CALYEAR].[2009]
Where all the measures in fact are restricted keyfigures from the Bex query. The dimensions are business content characteristics, as are the variables used.
The above MDX statement returns nothing - but if you remover either one of the dimensions in the cross joins - the expected data is returned.
Any ideas to why that happens?

  • Unable to create visual composer table view from the Bex Query

    Hi
I am trying to create the visual composer lay out from a Bex query. The Bex query contains a set of Key figures and a structure.
These key figure and structure combination is forming a table in the query output. Key figure parameters are coming as rows and Structure parameters are coming as columns.
    example query out put:
Total, HPC, FDS excel ICe etc are as Structure elements and coming as columns in query out put and
Invoice value, Gross sale value, Efficient operations etc are as Key figure elements in query and coming as rows in query out put.
But if I map this query to visual composer table view all these are coming as columns as given below.
Total Invoice value ,             Total Gross sale value,    Total Efficient operations,      HPC Invoice vale,.........
And if execute the query will giving the out put in single row.
Can anybody help me out to map this in the row column format?
Is it really possible to do in VC?
I am using CE 7.2. The VC model I need to be embedding in BPM.

    Hi,
Try to use some function module which will convert query data into flat tables. (eg., RS_VC_GET_QUERY_VIEW_DATA_FLAT).
    Hope this solves your issue.

  • Universe Designer vs BEx query - Can't see the query in the OLAP Cubes list

    Hello Experts,
We are facing a rather strange issue:
While creating a connection to an existing BEx query - which wasn't being used by BO before - we aren't able to see that one query in a long list of available multiproviders/queries on the universe side.
We already checked the option on BEx analyser to authorize external access to the query, with ODBO.
The connection type we're using is the same for all the other universes built on top of BEx queries: SAP BW Client. Again, we already have a bunch of universes built using this method, but we can't seem to find the BEx query in the OLAP Cubes list.
Does anyone have a lead on what may be causing this issue?
    Our environment is:
    - SAP BOE XI R3.1 SP2
    - SAP BW 3.5
    - BEx Analyser
    - Integration Kit
    Best Regards,
    Francisco

    Hi,
i don't know, you'd have to search the BW-BEX component for notes.
I noticed it with a revision of SAP GUI Front End tools 720 SP7 i think
I applied the latest corrections (SP08 or 09) and that tickbox worked ok again.
You might notice - as i did - that when you go back to check the bex query - that property becomes 'magically' unselected/

  • How the Drill down functionality works if the source is Bex Query

    Dear All,
How the Drill down functionality works if the source is Bex Query through the query browser in Dashboard 4.1
    Please let me know process.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Sai

    Hi sai,
Drill down can be done by two ways.
    1. you need to bring all the data in one shot to the spreadsheet and then by using the components you can achieve it. Below given link explains in detailed about that.
    Filtering Through Combo Box
    2. you can use different set of query to pass the value from one set to another to fetch the data using the prompt. please check the below which explain them.
Difference between "When value Becomes & When value Changes"
Revert any clarification required on this.

  • Mantaining closed the query structure when launching a query from "query mg

    Hi,
Is it possible to maintain closed the query structure window when launching a query from the "Query manager" menu?
As say, if I want to see the query syntax, I must click on the "Display query structure" symbol.
Now the query results windows, always starts with the "query structure" opened.
    Thanks
    Antonio

    Hi Antoni,
Only system built-in queries allow that.  We could not control this button to hide query by default.  You may post it as a DRQ on this forum:

  • Unable to sequence the prompts as mentioned in Bex Query

    Hi,
We are unable to sequence the prompt order in web i report which is build up on Bex query.
We have follwed the prompts order in Bex query,
When we build a web i report the sequence of prompts is not coming as expected, rather its taking in alphabetical order.
Please help us in ordering the sequence of the prompts in Web i.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Swaraj.

    Hi,
Part of this other post I just answered, so I'll leave the same info here...
This is a known behavior, but I know it is bugging more people, because the same is true for (normal) universe based prompts.
They also cannot be 'arranged'. Since the Bex query is the 'universe', ordering that has been set in the 'universe' is the only chance you have.
Like with the universe you could use prefixes to separate them from the query defined prompts (based on an alphabetic sort of the prompt message). I'd say this is a good one for the idea place...
(actually it is there, part of this one... [https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/ideas/2377])
Vote for it if you want this happening.
    Good luck,
    Marianne

  • Access BEx Query resultset Clientside

How can we manipulate the output of a bex query client side (internet explorer).
We have an output of a query which we would like change before data is exported to excel.
Can we somehow access and change the query resultset client side with e.g.. JavaScript ? Is the resultset stored in an accessible object (clientside).
    Thx

I don't have any experience but for someone with good Javascript skills, you can access the Analysis table using xpath expressions. This blog might get you started:

  • Error When Launcging BEX query into Web Browser

    Hi all,
When Launching Bex query into Web browser from BEx Analyser it's giving this error message. We are using Bex 3.x tools.
    Technical Information for Message:
    Error loading template 0ADHOC
      Notification Number BRAIN 276
    Any help will appreciated!.
    Thanks,

If you want to continue to use the ABAP-based runtime, create the template using the Web Application Designer (SAP BW 3.x).
The templates called using the new Web Application Designer have new objects that are independent of the objects saved using Web Application Designer 3.x. This means that, unlike the old templates, they can no longer be called using parameter template_id=abc. Instead, you can address them from an iView using template=abc and they use the Java Web runtime in the portal. Only the old templates can be executed in transaction RSRT.
In Web Application Designer 3.x, you can use parameter template_id=abc to call saved objects.
Note 1014795 - Error BRAIN 276 when you execute a Web template
    Hope it Helps
