Launching Flash videos on web

I annot seem to find how to implement an auto launch of my
Captivate tutorials on a webpage. Someone suggested that I could
have the Flash Player download automatically when the weblink was
clicked - anyone know how to do that? Thanks for any help.

Hi maryjop and welcome to our community
My own personal guess here is that you published your
Captivate as a Standalone EXE. Am I right?
If so, Publish again but select Flash (SWF) and place that on
the server instead of the .EXE.

  • Flash video on web page takes long very time to load before it starts playback

I just created a basic flash file to play a video on my web page and it's taking several minutes to load before it starts playback.
I'm using progressive downlaod and the file is in *.mov format and is 84MB in size. At first that seemed large to me for web play back, but I thought it could handle it since I thought the way progressive download works is that it would start playing the first frame right away and progressively play other frames as they download. However, this seems to be downloading the whole file first (or a major part of it) before starting any playback at all.
Is there some kind of setting I'm missing or is my understanding of the download incorrect and the file size is too large?
    Some vitals:
    - I'm using Flash Pro CS5
    - To create my flash file, I used the standard import video wizard and selected the a file that is "on my computer" and "load external video with playback component" and then, I selected one of the standard skins.
    - To deploy the vidoe on my webiste I have three files:
    1) swf file containing the FLV component
    2) the swf file related to skin
    3) the actual video (84MB, mov file)
    - Web page includes/embeds reference to swf file

Thanks for your response again. Looks like things have changed a bit to complicate this a little more.

Are you saying that if I wait long enough it will start to play .... from the link you posted?
What you are implying here is correct. The file won't play no matter how long you wait.  Looks like it's because of the "source" file settings in the Import Wizard may now be incorrrect. This is why it's not playing in the new file.
When I created my original Flash Video using a MOV file, during the import wizard, when asked "Where is your video file?" I selected the option "Already deployed to a web server...". Here I entered the url to where the video file is located on my production server.
When I created the new Flash Video using F4V file, during the import wizard, when asked "Where is your video file?" I selected the option "On your computer". Here I selected the file from my local drive.
Sorry for not pointing out the inconsistency earlier - I didn't think it mattered and plus I couldn't get the F4V file to import from the web server.
Anyway, I've changed my object tag using the acutal published html that flash generates and have uploaded all source files to same location.
    http://www.upperhand.com/tv/video-intro.html
To sum up the problem(s) I need help with:
Issue #1 - When trying to import F4V file using import wizard, I cannot use "Already deployed to a web server..." as an option for the file location. I believe this is creating issue #2
Issue #2 - For some reason, the F4V file will not load into the SWF file when it's published to my production server.
It works when viewing locally through browser as c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mywebsite\video-intro.html
It doesn't work when viewing on development server through browser as http://localhost/mywebsite/video-intro.html
It doesn't work when viewing on production server through browser as http://www.mywebsite.com/video-intro.html
Issue #3 - When the above are resolved, I'm not certain if my orignal question/issue will be resolved...  browser tries to downlaod full file before any playback.

  • Convert mpeg or avi to flash video for Web

    Hello,
I wanted to know how can you upload a mpeg, avi, or wmw to a
website and convert it to a flash video file? What software is
involved? What is the easiest method for doing this? Is there a tut
out there or a book that details this method?
    Thanks,

hi, for your situation, you would expect a video converter software, to convert avi or mpeg to flash video (.flv) for web. You probably know that there are plenty of free video converter out online. like Sothink Free Video Converter which I used for while, and I am sure it supports FLV video conversion. you could have a try.

  • Adding Flash Video to web page

    Hi Everyone,
I have a web page that I have added a flash video to using
the insert flash video option in Dreamweaver. I uploaded all the
files including the additional files that are created when you use
that option and when I try to get to the video file once I have
uploaded it will not play. If I use a link directly to the .swf
then it will play but the link to the page where the video is
inserted just shows a blank page. Can anyone give me any guidance
on how I can get this to work.
P.S. If I preview it from my desktop before uploading to the
    website it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • How to use embed code to insert my flash video from web host whilst keeping my player buttons?

I have created a flash 8 video. It consists of the video.swf
    video.flv and skin.swf
When i try to embed it into a remote webpage, the video
    player buttons do not show.
How do i enable my webpage of flash video to show the player
controls on a remote webpage using an embed code?

    Reece,
    > Basicly i just imported a .mov file into flash 8 and

If you chose FVSS, that means you're using a Flash Video
    Streaming
Service and not just uploading video to your own server.
    > So my skin.flv file currently has to be in the same
    folder
    > as my webpage which is currently not possible for me
    > to do.
You can put the skin wherever you like. All that matters is
    that you
correctly path to it from the point of view of the HTML page
    that holds your
SWF (the SWF that holds the FLVPlayback instance that uses
    this skin).
    > I need it to allow my skin.flv file to be in the same
    folder
    > as my vido.swf and video.flv files.
You're uploading your video files to a Flash Video Streaming
    Service,
which I haven't done personally, so I don't know what
    requirements this
service places on you. Regardless, the location of the skin
    SWF file makes
no difference. In the FLA that contains your FLVPlayback
    instance, select
that instance and look at the Parameters tab of the Propery
    inspector. In
the skin parameter, double click the cell to the right of
    that and enter the
path to the skin SWF. It can be absolute (full domain name
    and filepath) or
relative. If it's relative, pretend it's the HTML file
    looking for that
skin, instead of this SWF file.

  • CS6 - Trouble displaying Flash video in Web pages

    Hi,
Here's my problem: I embedded .flv videos in HTML pages the same way I've been doing it for years. It worked fine until I moved to CS6.
The last video clips were edited and encoded in Flash format (1024x576 for 1800 bps) in Premiere CSS6 then embedded in HTML pages in DW CS6 after creating the .swf files with Flash CS6. All CS6, no compatilbity problems then.
Once onlie, they fail to display properly, i.e. you have to click a couple of times on the Start/Pause button and occasionally refresh the page to be able to view the video. It's works fine once started but the trouble is getting it to start automatically.
There's over 300 videos ranging from a few seconds to about 15 min on this site, and this is the very first time I come across this kind of problem.
    Any suggestion?
Here's on of the old videos: http://www.aquiceara.com/UK/Video/Bresil_Maranhao_Survol_Lencois.html
And here's one of the CS6 "troublesome" videos: http://www.aquiceara.com/UK/Video/Chine_HK_Tai_Hang.html

The answer is to exactly copy the code from the CS5.5 and below versions of Dreamweaver.
Bu Nancy is correct. Everyone is moving to other standards for video on websites. Nancy generally recommends Pickle Player and I have been hand-coding using the HTML5 standards. I have generally found that all videos play in all browsers using the new standards, though you do have to support OGG and WEBM video files on your server.

  • Flash Video Gallery – link to specific video upon launch

I saw this question asked before when first doing a search on
this topic, but have yet to see any replies, let alone any that
    work.
How can I link from within a web page to a specific video
that is contained within a modified version of
    Adobe's
    Flash video Gallery tutorial?
When a user clicks on a link that says "View Dr. Jones
Lecture", I want the Flash Video Gallery to launch with Dr. Jones'
video loading and playing immediately. As it stands now, the video
player just wants to wait until someone locates and then clicks on
the video of their choice WITHIN the video player itself. That is
fine if a generic "Launch our Video Gallery" link is clicked, but
not if the user is expecting a specific video to play.
Any help is very much appreciated.
    Cheers!

I normally don't like "bumping," but I am still looking for a
solution to this problem. Thank you in advance.

  • Help inserting a flash video into my web page

    Hello!
I'd love some help inserting a flash video into my web page. My web page is hosted by Viviti, templated, and edited online. I can add html to it, and I have the html source for my flash video. I also have uploaded the flash file to the server. Since I am very html illiterate, though, I need some help rewriting the html script so it can be published. There are two problems- firstly, no 'headers' or 'body' allowed in the script- these are already a part of the template. Secondly, I don't know how to rewrite it to refer to the uploaded files. It's also imperative that the full screen mode functions. I've pasted the source code for the flash video here. Please help!!!
    Thanks!

What you basically need to do is copy the sections of content from the code you show into the template (assuming the template already provides the <head> and <body> sections of the page.  So in the head section of what you show, take everything starting with...
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    all the way down thru...
    </script>
, inclusive (in the head section only), and paste that into the head section of your template.
Similarly, take everything that lies between the <body> ... </body> tags (exclusive of the body tags) and paste it into the body section of your template wherever you plan to display the Flash file.

  • Everytime I start firefox I get its web page plus Flash Video Downloader advertisement in 2nd tab, how do I get rid of this

I get the standard Firefox web page but also get a second web page advertisement for Flash Video Downloader. I use Flash Video Downloader already and my data use is limited monthly so I don't want this page coming up every time I get on the web browser. I've asked the Flash Video folks but they have no suggested solutions. It is not shown in options for home page and I can't find where it is being loaded from.

    Hello,
Try restore your startup page(Home Page), go to '''Tools''' >> '''Option''' >> '''General''', and restore to default or a page that you want.

  • Placing Flash Video in Specific Location on Web Page

    Hi-
Basic (I think) question here regarding Flash video on a web
page created with DW8. I am trying to figure out how to have
several thumbnail images on the right hand side of the page link in
such a way that when they are clicked they will play the
corresponding Flash video file in a player window on the left hand
side of the page (something like a YouTube page layout). It seems
like it should be simple enough to link the thumbnail images to the
videos and then have the videos play in the player at a preset
location on the page, however, I'll be darned if I can find
anything on the Adobe site, tutorials, or the Web in general that
addresses just how to do this. Maybe I'm just putting in the wrong
search terms. Anyway, if you have any suggestions, tips or
tutorials you can recommend I would surely appreciate it.

    hi,
You can video on image click using the simple javascript.
the script can be like this:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
    function playVideo(val){
    document.getElementById('
    divLayer').innerHTML=
    '<OBJECT
    classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"\n'+
    ' codebase="
    http://macromedia.com/cabs/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"\n'+
    ' ID=flaMovie WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=240>\n'+
    ' <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="te.swf">\n'+
    ' <PARAM NAME=FlashVars VALUE="url=' + val+'">\n'+
    ' <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>\n'+
    ' <EMBED src="te.swf" FlashVars="url=' + val+'"\n'+
    ' WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=240 \n'+
    ' TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash">\n'+
    ' </EMBED>\n'+
    '</OBJECT>\n';
    </script>
    where
divLayer is div layer insdie the body.
And, for image click the function can be assigned like this
    <a href="javascript:playVideo(
    flvName.flv' )"> <img
    src="some.jpg"></a><br/>
In the flash video player(te.swf in this case) you need to
    declare a variable called
    url
and assign the video contentPath to url.
I hope this works for you..

  • Is it possible to have a link/button inserted into the end of my flash video that makes up the first page of my web site

i am not sure if this will make sense so please tell me if it
doesn't. is it possible to have a link/button inserted into the end
of my flash video that makes up the first page of my web site. the
video plays showing the name of the site then fades to show the
text "enter" which i want to make the link to the next page.

    > the video plays showing the name of the
    > site then fades to show the text "enter"
in FLASH set a gotourl action on the last frame of the move.
If this is a "splash page" and has a dancing company logo and
    a throbbing
drumbeat- reconsider. Just make the homepage of the website
    the homepage.
Don't make people wait to see some content.

  • How to have web page open in same browser window after redirect in Flash video placed in Dreamweaver?

    Hello,
Would be grateful if anyone can help me.
    website: www.Paris-Pet.com
Currently, a flash video plays on the index page. The following action is placed in the last frame of the video in Flash:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.paris-pet.com/home.html"));
This is working as intended with one exception: Instead of directing to the home page from the index page when the video is completed, it opens up the home page in a second browser window, leaving the empty browser window of the flash movie. This is not the seamless design I was hoping for, and I've also been told on some computers, blocking pop up windows is preventing them from smoothly transitioning to the rest of the web site.
I would like the redirect to open the home page in the same browser window as the movie in the index page played.
Please help. Print designer in over her head.
    JM

Brilliant, Jon. Thank you so much. For those of you who stumble on this, I did have a tiny bit of trouble when I edited the actionscript; the video didn't play as expected. After trial and error, this is the code that worked both in playing the video and opening up in the same browser window:
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.paris-pet.com/home.html"),"_self");
    The difference seems to be this:  ")     before the comma prior to "_self");
    Again, Jon -- thanks!

  • Flash Video plays locally, but not on web

I have a htm page that I have inserted a Flash Video. It
plays locally, but not when I have it on the web. I get nothing -
no skins, nothing. If I rt click, there are the settings for flash.
I have the scripts in my scripts folder - double checked that. Can
anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
    Here is the link.

    right off the top ..
You have two script calls to the Scripts folder and file ..
    one is root
relative and the other goes up one level. One of them needs
    to be removed.

  • Video for Web in the Flash '.flv' format

I produce alot of content for the web...I usually work in Premiere Pro 2 >>Export to an .avi (DV NTSC) format then open in Flash Video Encoder and output using the ON2P codec >>Upload to web server for streaming
    Done
Lately I have been on tour and I have the MacBook Pro 17 with Final Cut Studio and the Flash Video Encoder as my NLE system/workflow...
The problem is that the encoded video has gliches and lines in it! I dunno why
I have tried re encoding at least 4 diff times but each time its the same result...
The difference can be seen by looking at the video encoded using the premiere pro 2 system at http://www.videovaulttv.com
And the video using the Final Cut Studio system at http://www.youngmoneyent.com/av.html
Any ideas on what I can do?

    Capture into FCP 5.1.2
Export - QT movie (Self Contained)
Import - Flash Video Encoder 8
    Export - On2P / 500k / Audio 64k / 15 fps / 364 x
    (constrained setting chooses)
    import into dreamweaver, preview,
    crappy file is played
OK, I don't see anything wrong with those settings, they are similiar to what I use. What are your sequence setting in FCP? Does the video look good there?
You may want to try a different encoder, I know that Sorenson has a trial, and see if it works.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
