Launching pse 10

hi all
i have just installed pse 10 from disc under windows 7, my problem is that i seem to be only able to launch pse 10 once, if i decide to close the program down, before i am able to open it again, i need to shut my pc down and restart before i can get the program to open.
I am also using cs 3 and lightroom 4 and also still have pse 6 installed.
Please help

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
The Editor's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
The Organizer's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

Thanks for getting back. I'm running Windows XP on a desktop PC and Windows 7 on a laptop. I bought the PSE disk new about 2009 from Walmart for my laptop. It worked fine there (Windows 7) for a couple of years but now won't launch. I used an older PSE version on my PC until trading recently but after what appeared to be a successful installation of PSE 7 it will not launch there either. The hour glass appears briefly and then disappears when I try to launch from either the desktop or from windows explorer. So no PSE on either the laptop of desk top PC now. If I remember correctly, I installed Norton Anti-virus after the PSE 7 installation on both...are there compatibility issues? I hadn't associated the two as a problem for PSE.

Can't launch PSE 11 Organizer from Welcome Screen

I was trying to see if there was an easier way to scan my photos directly into PSE 11. i found this on the Adobe site. http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/twain-installed-photoshop-elements-11.html (See Windows 64 bit) I went into the Program File... Optional Plug-In and right clicked and copied. Then I went to the Program File... Plug In file and was going to copy it but didn't. I really didn't know what I was doing so I stopped and closed out of the Program Files. I was able to scan my files on my Epson scanner and get them into the Organizer without doing this.
I can't remember if I had the Organizer open at the time I was doing the above or opened it afterwards. Anyway I was scanning and organizing, backed up my pictures on a flashdrive and all was good and closed the Organizer. I then connected an External hard drive I hadn't used for a while to see what photos were on it. Then I went to open the Organizer as I wanted to do a backup on the External hard drive. Now as stated above, I can't open the Organizer from the Welcome Screen or from the Editor.
Did I screw something up from what I was doing in the first paragraph or what. Help!!

Cannot launch PSE 6 for Mac after installation - HELP!!!

I just installed PSE 6.0 for Mac on my new iMac (I'm using OS X 10.5.8), and it installed successfully (at least it appeared to). My first problem was that it did not allow me to register the serial number. That's probably no big deal, but then when I went to start the application, the main window came up, but it did not let me do anything, not even EXIT (it was grayed-out). I shutdown and restarted, but this didn't change anything. I thought PSE 6.0 for Mac would work with OS X 10.5.8? Not sure what's going on here. And why aren't there any error messages telling me what's wrong??? I'm on hold right now to Adobe, but nobody is answering. Very frustrating ...

I just did a 'verify permissions' and it returned 117 messages that said "permissions differ on ... ". Then I did a 'permissions repair', but it did not seem to repair anything because the same "permissions differ on ... " messages came back. It also said "Permissions repair complete", so I don't really know what that means (successful or not??). Below are two examples of the 'error' messages:
1) Permissions differ on "System/Library/Frameworks/CoreVideo.framework/Versions/A/CodeResources", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r-- .
2) Permissions differ on "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DotMacSyncManager.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DotMac SyncHelper.app/Contents/_CodeSignature/CodeResources", should be ?--------- , they are -rw-r--r-- .
What does the permission "l" mean in #1?
Most of the returned messages are similar to #2 ( ... should be ? ---- ...). Not sure if this is okay.

PSE 8 (for Mac) refuses to launch - with message

Just tried to launch PSE 8 (for Mac), it didn't launch, but produced the message: "Could not open scratch file because disk is not available."
(tried this four times with the same result each time)
Conclusion: because the most recent backup to RAID filled that disk, PSE 8 cannot access the scratch disk on the RAID backup disk.
(This, even though I removed over 80 GB of old video files from the archive.)
I purchased PSE 8 11/28/2009 - can I use an app removal utility to remove this installed version and re-download another installer? It seems the most direct approach but first I have to ensure I can download a "replacement" and find out the original serial number to activate that replacement.
The original directions from Adobe indicate that all I have to do is access my order history and the serial number will be on the order form. I'm not seeing any clearly identified serial number on that order.
So my question are;
1. Should I first remove the original PSE 8 - or just the plists?
2. how to find the original serial number?
I do know already: once I have PSE 8 replacement installation running, I must set a scratch disk location on another (roomier) drive. this is not a problem: I have two 1 TB drives installed in my Mac Pro in addition to the two 500 GB drives which make up the (old) RAID.

Good call but it didn't work: tried deleting those plists twice. Still get "disk not available" message w/ immediate PSE quit.
Further: I ran Diskwarrior on my "home" drive, the cloned "home" drive AND the RAID backup.
This included Directory repair, File Check and Hardware Check on all three volumes.
Also repaired permissions on "home" drive and cloned drive.
I then repeated the attempt to launch PSE 8 on my "home" drive and the cloned "home" drive: same result. (failure)
Sidebar: While running Disk Utility to repair permissions, I happened to click on the "RAID" button and found that
one drive is listed as "Failed" and the other is listed as "Degraded."
Just in case that has anything to do with the PSE 8 failure to launch: I am now using Disk Utility to rebuild that RAID set. This takes 4 hours and will wipe it clean. I'll try in the morning once again to launch PSE 8 and get back with result.

PSE 8 Won't Launch After Installing Maverick

I can't open PSE 8 and get an error 150:30. I tried to use LicenseRecoveryLauncher but it won't open either because it says PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Can anyone help me get around this issue???

Thank you for your assistance! I did as you suggested but it still is coming up with the same error about the licensing. I thought I would uninstall it and then reinstall but it gave me a warning that is needed to make sure before uninstalling to deactivate and remove any serial numbers used when installing it on this machine. To deactivate I have to launch PSE 8 so I won't be able to follow the rest of the instructions. It also said that deactivating a serial number will allow you to activate it on another machine. But I am just reactivating it on the same machine so do you think I can ignor this warning?

PSE 8 fails to launch

Launching PSE 8 gets me this dialog, even after rebooting. Mac OSX 10.7.5. How can I correct this?

PSE 6 & 8 for Macintosh launching problem with licence

Hi, I have big problem with launch PSE under OSX 10.6. I exchange the HD drive in my MacBookPro and reinstalled system for 10.6 Snow Leopard. Some files I restored with Time Machine but PSE reinstalled with CD. At first I try with my hard copy of PSE 6 - when I try to lunch I always get message "Licensing for this product has stopped working". After this message I remowve PSE6 create new instllation and the same effect, the same message.
So I completelly remove PSE6 with CD unistallation option, downloaded PSE8, install, restart computer, launch PSE8 and... the same effect - "Licensing for this product has stopped working", Error 150:30. Where is problem? Any solution for me?
My MBP configuration is 4GB od RAM, C2D 2,4MHz, now 500GB HD.

I'm afraid that link supported by you don't resolve problems with Stopped licence. I try with no result. Some minutes ago I found resolve on this forum, and now all working fine.
Ankush Ved in other post show solution.
When I deleted file placed on my HD\Library\Preferences\FLEXnet Publisher\
(Delete the complete "FLEXNET Publisher" folder by moving it to trash and subsequently Empty the Trash) and restarted and lunched PSE all working fine.

PSE 8 on Mac will not launch.

Hello, hoping someone may be able to help with my problem with PSE 8.
I am using PSE 8 on a mac. Recently I installed some actions (from Pioneer Woman, if it matters). I went through the instructions given to install the actions, and also the rename the MediaDatabase. This all seemed to work fine, but after looking at the actions, I decided I didn't like them and decided to remove them. I thought I went through the exact reverse of the instructions I followed to install, but somewhere I must have gone wrong.
Now when I try to launch PSE, it looks as if it is loading, then at the point where I think it is loaded and ready, it crashes and I get a message saying the program has quit unexpectedly. I tried deleting the MediaDatabase to let it rebuild, this worked one time when it opened as expected, but now I have got the same problem back again.
I am considering uninstalling and reinstalling, but not sure if this is the best option. I cannot 'deactivate' it seeing as it won't open, so not sure if I will lose the use of an activation key. I am also nervous that bridge might also be uninstalled. I have exported my keywords to a file on my desktop, but not sure if there anything else in bridge that I may lose.
Any help anyone may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated.

I am glad to hear that my Bridge won't be affected much. I don't use stacks, only the keywords, so a reinstall shouldn't affect me much at all.

I assumed that because I was told to rename it, that something significant would happen if it were removed. But obviously not. PSE just rebuilds it again I think if it has been deleted?
Before I go ahead and use your suggestions for deleting those files, I don't understand what "Repair permissions" means. Is anyone able to help me with that one?

PSE 12 Editor is not launching - Window opens and asks for registration

I have PSE 12 (German Version) and had this successfully installed and working on my home desktop. End of January I moved to the US for some months and have installed my PSE 12 on my laptop (Win 8). I have moved the entire cataloque according to instructions from the desktop to an external hard disk and reconnected it with the new installation. After checking my installation of PSE 12 on the laptop (everything worked fine) I have deleted the installation on my desktop.
After a good week, today I have tried to launch PSE Editor (from the main start window, where it offers on the top left the Organizer and right the Editor (as buttomns). As soon as I press the Editor bottomn, a new window opens and requests me to do registration of my product "within 7 days - otherwhise I can no longer use the software". Again this is a German Version and I just translate. In this window, I can enter my Adobe ID & password, which I did. Some seconds after entering my access data the window closes and shows the PSE launch window again. When I then want to launch the Editor, the same cycle starts: The window opens, requesting to do my registration.
I can open the Organizer with no problem and it works. But even from the organizer I can not launch the Editor.
My account shows that I have successfully registered my S/N & Product, which I did back some month ago when I had purchased it.
Who can helpl me?

PSE 6 is indeed compatible with Windows 7 -- many people have reported successfulling using it. (But Adobe won't provide any support.) See this FAQ:

PSE 9 opens last edited image when launched

Hi
I'm new to PSE 9 (running on an new iMac and Mac OS X 10.7.2).
This is my problem: After launching PSE 9, the application opens the last image I edited before I closed the application.
To make it clear:
1. I edit an image in PSE 9 and save it.
2. I close PSE 9.
3. I launch PSE 9 again.
4. PSE 9 opens this last image again without being asked to do so.
Is this normal? Is there a way to avoid this?

Try dragging out the tab containing the image; so that it floats.
Then drag the triangle corner at the bottom right - you can cover a big part of the screen real estate whilst still keeping the tools pallet and menu bar visible.
You can also click Edit à Preference à General
Then check the item Zoom With Scroll Wheel
That will let you fill or reduce the window contents quite quickly.

PSE 8 for Mac says "License expired"

I am having a problem with PSE 8 for mac. The situation for my software is complicated but it my be germane. I download the trial version of the software and liked it. I put the software on my wishlist. My in-laws got a copy of the software for Christmas, but they bought the windows version from Costco. Because Costco does not sell Mac software, I called up Adobe support and asked if they would cross grade me. I did not want to return the software at Costco and not be able to get it. So, I thought I would call Adobe and see what they could do -- cross grade could be a win/win. They said that they would if I sent the serial number. I did that, then they said that I need to pay $25 to cross grade, which I did not want to do. I asked them to just give me a permanent serial number. Adobe eventually did give me a permanent serial number for the PSE 8 trial and that is what I have been using.
At about the time of the 10.6.3 update, PSE stopped working giving an error message "Licensing for this product has expired". I tried a number solutions listed on the support site here at Adobe, but no have worked EXCEPT turning back the clock to 2008. Is there a way to get this to work without having the clock wrong?

This shouldnt have been the case. I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue.
Can you please try to do the following:
1. When your system date is in year 2008 and you are able to work successfully with PSE Editor, go to Help Menu inside Editor and click on the link saying Help->Deactivate...
2. Select the option to erase serial number and deactivate the product.
3. This will quit PSE Editor as well.
4. Launch PSE Editor again and now supply the serial number which Adobe gave to you again...
Hopefully, this error message wouldnt come now...Please keep me informed...

PSE 10 Keeps freezing EVERY TIME I try to open it.

I have a less than 3 year old MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.3. I purchased elements 10 NEW in october 2012.
EVERY TIME I try to open elements 10 Editor, it freezes before I can do anything. I have looked in other discussions. Tried to restart from another thread I tried the following...
"Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

For anyone else who stumbles upon this thread....
Took the computer to Apple Genius Bar. They found the problem. In the Applications folder>Utilities>Activity Monitor, open and select System Memory at the bottom. Sort by %CPU. Find the icons showing at the left of the list. The ones at the top take the most memory. If whatever you are working on works way too slowly, you may find something above it (or bouncing around-up and down-on the list that is causing the problem (Mail and FireFox in my case). Quit those applications and things should speed up or, in my case, not freeze.

How do I get PSE 12 to save a TIFF file with file extension ".tiff" instead of ".tif"?

I am using PSE 12 as an external editor for Aperture. When I ask to use an external photo editor, Aperture creates a .tiff file in my Aperture folder, launches PSE 12 and tells it to edit that .tiff file. This all works great. When I am done editing in PSE 12, I ask it to save the file and it saves it back to the original Aperture folder with a .tif extension. I can instead say "save as" and then it suggests the file name with a .tif extension. When I correct the extension to .tiff it warns me that I'm going to overwrite the file (exactly what I want!). I say yes and then I find out that PSE did not overwrite the file, but wrote it as a .tif file anyway. I have to go to the folder, delete the .tiff file and rename the .tif file to .tiff and then everything is fine - but what a hassle. Has anyone solved this problem?

That's not quite where the problem lies, which is good, because you can't change that. The real solution is that you don't ever want to see the save as window in PSE if you are using PSE as external editor for any program. When you see it you aren't creating a version for your asset management program. Go to the PSE preferences>saving files>on first save and choose to save over existing file. That should do what you want.

PSE 8 constant error message

Just got a brand new iMac and finally able to install PSE 8. I am constantly getting this error message: "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened."
I get it when I first launch PSE and haven't even opened anything yet, and when I do open a file, I get this message constantly all the while I am editing away at it. It doesn't prevent me opening the file or using PSE as normal, but this message is constantly popping up and is very annoying.
