Launching rsynced file
Have just been experinenting with rsyncing MYOB data files via ssh.
Got the rsync happening but on the receiving drive when I launch the file the application (MYOB ) doesn't recognise the file and launches to its open file dialog.
PDFs sync fine.
Is there a parameter I'm missing in rsync ? I'm using -avzP -e
Kind Regards
Eric
Hi Foilpan
Thank you...Gold stars.
I had tried -E but stuck it in place of my -e which affected the ssh not the rsync.
tacked it onto rsyncs paramters and away we went. Interestingly in verbose it reports two files as being synced. The missing resource I suspect.
Re make command. I thought that might be the case. I have the dev tools installed but on the staff mac minis I just run a basic SOE up. I'm assuming that placing the binary in usr/local/bin did the job.
So good to have this running. I can script it now and run regular updates since MYOB have never really got their act together on a multi user version that works and have abandoned all attempts.
Kind Regards
Eric

How to embed and launch ipa file from another ipa package created using Air for iOS
Hi Guys,
Anybody out there knowing how to embed and launch ipa file from another ipa package created using Air for iOS ?
I am having 1 ipa file created using Xcode, Now i need to include that file in my ipa Package which is created using Flash CS 5.5 and Air for iOS. Also i need to know how to open my 1st ipa file from AS3 ?
Thanks,Hi Sir,
Thanks for your reply.
But in that case user need to download 2 applications right. I need user to download my parent application created using Flash and that package contain one more ipa created using Xcode, so from my parent app only user should able to open my 2nd app. Is there any way to do that?
Ps: I am not talking about in-app but 2 individual apps inside one package. -
[SOLVED]Iced Tea Fails to Launch Webmin File Manager
Last night I started receiving an exception error when trying to launch Webmin File Manager from my laptop. I googled combinations of Webmin File Manager and Java and found posts dating back to 2009, 2010 stating webmin didn't work well with Iced Tea but did work with Sun's Java. Fortunately the Arch Java wiki indicated jre existed in the AUR. So a simple,
sudo pacman -Rs icedtea-web-java7
followed by,
sudo packer -S jre
and Webmin File Manager is accessible again.
My thanks to AUR maintainer Det.
Edit: After converting to jre I was able to access webmin filemanager but unable to access webmin ssh2. I reverted back to icedtea and went to the security console. i added https://serverip:10000/ to the exceptions and now both ssh2 and filemenager work.

Launch external files from a presentation
preparing a long presentation with many external files (of many kinds: swf, quicktime, html, etc) as examples.
I am trying NOT to stop the keynote, go thru the finder launching different files in front of the audience.
I would much prefer if i can use a button inside my presentation to launch that specific file.
Any ideas? 3rd party plug ins? automator script?Keynote has no scripting capabilities what so ever :/.
Obviously some of the file types you describe can be placed into the Keynote presentation itself. QT, Insert Menu> Webview for web page inside presentation; with textbox selected... Insert menu >Text Hyperlink > Webpage to change to browser and link to url. Email message?! Not files as such though.
I'm sure you could write an applescript to run in parallel to the presentation to handle all the file launching in a sequence for you or even with a list of buttons if you wanted to get really serious with UI builder.
Flash support was dropped as a consequence of changes to QT. Flash support inside QT was discontinued (security?). -

Column Name ID Pk Null? Data Type Default Histogram
PT_SEQ_NO 1 1 N NUMBER (10) Yes
SM_SERVICE_ID 2 N VARCHAR2 (15 Byte) Yes
PT_FILE_PATH 3 Y VARCHAR2 (100 Byte) Yes
PT_FILE_SERVER_PATH 4 N VARCHAR2 (200 Byte) Yes
NO, I'm not storing that file in Blob. i'm not storing it in database. i'm just transfering it from client location to server location . That's it.
But i'm storing both the path from where i picked the file and where i uploaded. That's client path in PT_FILE_PATH field and server path in PT_FILE_SERVER_PATH.
now i want to get that file from server location and show it only on Browser.. Not storing in database, justing putiing in folder at server location.
thanks

Can a flash website launch quicktime files?
Hi
I am not really familiar with what options are available for
video but would appreciate some advice on what is achievable. Does
the server always need to be enabled in some way to run any type of
flash video, if so can flash launch quicktime files?
Many thanks
Tristram23If your question is to whether Flash can load QuickTime into
a swf, the
answer is no. Flash can load Flash Video (.flv)
If your question is whether Flash can launch a QuickTime
movie, use
getURL("yourMovie.mov")

Launch.ica files opening with Adobe Reader not Java
I was trying to set up to get remote access to my server at work and one step was missed (loading the citrix software onto my computer), so when I tried to open it, it created a launch.ica file. I tried to open the file since it would not open automatically and selected Adobe Reader to open it. After we discovered the missing step and installed the citrix software on my computer, when I try to gain access (through a website on Mozilla Firefox) the file continues to try to open it in Adobe REader, rather than Java. I uninstalled Adobe, opened the file and was able to gain access, but when I re-installed Adobe, the launch again uses Adobe. Is there any way to get the .ica files disconnected from Adobe?
I'm having the same problem. I run Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), and I'm running Internet Explorer 8. I have the problem
when using Reader 10, so I deinstalled it and went back to Reader 9, I still have the same problem.

Launching .desktop files
Noob here running arch with i3 and dmenu and I can't figure out how to launch .desktop files. If I open /usr/share/applications in a filebrowser, doubleclicking a .desktop file opens it up in my editor. If I add /usr/share/applications to my $PATH they show up in dmenu but again open up with my editor. Same goes for xdg-open file.desktop which corresponds with this bug.
#!/usr/bin/env xdg-open
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Name=Test
Exec=chromium --app=http://localhost:8080/
Terminal=false
Icon=chrome-http___localhost_8080__1
Type=Application
Categories=GTK;Network;WebBrowser;
StartupWMClass=localhostIs that part of xfce? I can't figure out how to install that on its own. I'd rather not a desktop environment just to get this working.

Using Authorware to Launch Powerpoint Files
Ok, I am a complete newbie when it comes to Powerpoint.
What I'm trying to do is create a menu in Authorware, that
will be published
as a .exe file. It will have several buttons that will act as
a launcher for
several Powerpoint Slideshows to be used in a classroom
instructional
course.
What is the best way to launch Powerpoint files from
Authorware?
Is there a way to export/publish/package a .ppt file so that
it can be a
standalone .exe file so that I don't have to open Powerpoint
to display the
.ppt file?You can rename any .ppt to .pps and it will open in
Powerpoint in
'slideshow' mode. So if every machine will have Powerpoint
installed, a
simple JumpOut to a .pps should work fine.
Otherwise, I'm pretty sure Pack and Go creates an .exe with
the PPT
viewer bundled, which then extracts and runs when launched.
Been a long
time since I've played with Pack and Go, however, so that
could be bad
info ;-)

Launching SWF file within the project - Video Avatar and Calculator
Hi There, I am somewhat new to Captivate so please bear with me. I am using Captivate 6.0 and have basic coding knowledge. I have a question about how to launch SWF files within my project. There are 2 things I am trying to accomplish.
1. I have a video avatar that I want to use within my project. When a user clicks an icon or button on certain screens I want the appropriate video to launch within the same window. My video is an swf file but it can be another file type if that is better. Is this something that I can accomplish with Captivate 6.0?
2. I have built a basic flash calculator - also an swf file - that I want the user to be able to launch on certain screens. When the user clicks a calculator button, the calculator would launch for the user to use, then the user would be able to close the calculator and return to the screen they were on.
Could someone direct me to some resources on how to accomplish this? If there are any widgets that would make this easier that would be great - but if I need to write some code I can try and do this if someone can direct down the right road. I have spent hours looking for information on this topic but can't find any (at least any that I understand)
Please, and thank you!!!Rory,
Your Video is 720 x 480 @ 1.212 PAR, according to your screen-cap. In Photoshop (PS), go to Image New (Ctrl+N) and choose the NTSC 720 x 480 Widescreen 16:9 PAR 1.2. Once done, choose Image>PAR and Custiom, change 1.2 to 1.212 (this was a change in PrPro, and might not have yet made it into PS yet). Now, Open your full rez image. Ctrl+A (Select All), Ctrl+C (Copy), and then bring focus to your New Image. Hold Shift and Ctrl+V (Paste). This will put your image on a New Layer, Layer 1, in an Image with the correct dimensions and PAR. You can the Ctrl+T (Free Transform) and adjust the size of your Layer 1 image to suit. Holding down Shift while dragging the Handles of the Bounding Box will constrain the Aspect Ratio. Note, you might be cropping some of that image to fit the Aspect Ratio of your New Image. Anything outside of the Image boundries will effectly be cropped off. Note: you are NOT using the Crop Tool here, but letting the New Image Aspect Ratio effectively do the cropping (note no capitalization) for you. When satisfied with the result, you Delete the Background Layer (not necessary, but I do this to clean things up a bit), and Save_As .PSD to the proper folder.
With Scale to Fit turned OFF, Import_As Footage, this image and drag to the Timeline, making sure that Scale to Fit is OFF. It should be perfect then. Hope that this works for you and gets rid of the problem.
Good luck,

Launch external files on Linux
I want to launch external files from Java, in a cross platform way.
ie say I have a file fred.jpg, I want to launch that on any platform to open in the editor defined on that computer.
The book 'Swing Hacks' (Marinaccci and Adamson), shows how to do this for Windows and Mac. My version of their code is
static public void launch(URL url){
try{
String cmd;
if (OS.isMac())
cmd = "open "+url;
else // TODO linux?
cmd = "cmd.exe /c start "+url;
Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
catch(Exception e){new Fail(e);}
}However, I don't know what to put in for linux?
Searching the web I came across http://weblogs.java.net/blog/ixmal/archive/2006/05/javaawtdesktop.html,
which suggests that
Desktop.getDesktop().open(new File(filename));is more platform independant. However for me it seems to work only on Windows, failing silently on Mac and Linux?
Can someone with a good knowledge of Linux help please.>
Will Duke stars get anyone to answer this?>I cannot say. What I can tell you is that at least it got me to read it.
And now I look over your original post..
>
..However for me it seems to work only on Windows, failing silently on Mac and Linux?>'Seems'? The docs. for Desktop.open(File) suggest it throws a whole range of exceptions if it cannot perform the task. Are you sure the code is not 'swallowing exceptions'?
Can you produce an SSCCE that fails as you claim? If so, this really sounds like a bug.
And as an aside, Desktop was introduced in 1.6, but AFAIR, Apple is still stuck on 1.5. How did you get it to 'fail silently' on a Mac.?
Edit 1:
But if you are intent on doing it the way that you originally asked about, you might be able to pick up some tips from the [http://browserlaunch2.sourceforge.net/|BrowserLauncher2] code.

Launching swf files with Director
I recently obtained Adobe Director 11.5 to create a menu for launching a series of Flash CS4 files. I worked through Dean Utian’s excellent tutorial and found the following script to program a button to launch another Director file. However, I can’t figure out how to get it to launch a swf file. If someone could tell this poor soul how to get Director to launch swf files I would really appreciate it. Thatch
on mouseUp me
play movie "FileName”
endI don’t know if anyone else will ever need to do this, but just in case I thought I should share the final protocol we developed. This will embed a Flash SWF file into a Director DIR, so it can be published in a form that can be opened directly, without the multiple clicks required to open an swf with Windows Explorer (or the MAC equivalent). It has been tested with Director 11.5 and Flash CS4. I hope my shorthand is clear. Dean Utian, Sean Wilson and James Newton all helped me with this, and support their support was far above and beyond the call of duty.
1.) Resize the Director stage to match the Flash stage
Click the Director stage > Windows > Property Inspector > Stage Size > 550 x 400
(alternatively you can compose the Flash file with a stage that matches Director’s. 640 x 480 is the default)
2.) Embed the SWF into Director
File > Import > Browse to File > Import
Drag cast member from cast window to stage
ctrlK > distribute horizontal across stage > distribute vertical across stage
3.) Type a pause script into the script channel of the score
on exitFrame
go to the frame
end
4.) Open the movie script window (Ctrl + Shift + U) and type in stretcher script (this allows the SWF cast member to resize if the final window is maximized)
on resizeWindow
aw = _player.activeWindow
awRect = aw.rect
aw.drawRect = awRect.offset(-awRect.left, -awRect.top)
end
on zoomWindow
resizeWindow()
end
5.) Set publication settings
File > Publish Settings > Projector > Shockwave
> Center stage in monitor
> Shockwave > Allow movie scaling
> Html > Template > Shockwave Default
> Stretch Style > Preserve Proportions
> Stretch Position > Horizontal Align
> Stretch Position > Vertical Align
> Dimensions > Percentage of Browser Window
> Width > 100
> Width > 100
> Formats > Windows Projector (Creates an exe for Windows)
> Macintosh Projector (Creates an app for MACs)
> HTML (Creates an htm and dcr for Windows or MACs)
6.)Publish the movie
File > Publish
The Windows Projector will create a single exe file that can be opened by double clicking the icon. If your SWF has addChild script, it will launch a second SWF, but the second SWF must be in the same folder as the exe.
The Macintosh Projector will create an app application that can be opened by double clicking the icon. However this application actually consists of a folder with several subfolders and files. You will not see this with the MAC file directory, but you will if you try to E-mail the application. If your SWF has addChild script, it will launch a second SWF, but the second SWF must be in the same folder as the app.
The HTM Projector will create a htm file and a dcr shockwave file. Both must be in the same folder, and the user must double click the htm icon to open the dcr. If your SWF has addChild script it will not launch a second SWF.
