Launchpad using trackpad

SInce updating to ML, I find that the four finger pinch gesture to start up Launch Pad stops working a few hours after system startup.  F4 works, clickiing on the Launch Pad icon works, picking Launch Pad from Spotlight work, and the gesture is checked in the Track Pad preferences.  Restart restores the function.  This always worked in Lion.
Anyone else seeing this?  A bug?  Conflict with an app?  Is there a workaround?

somebody reply please

  • Use Trackpad to zoom in and out - Too sensitive in Safari 4

Hi, I just installed Safari 4 three days ago. Without changing any settings, now I found out that when I use trackpad to zoom in/out the font, it responses too sensitive than it did in previous Safari. It jumps up/down at least two levels every time I try to adjust the font size. It is not that controllable anymore.
Has anyone else noticed this? How do I fix this? Thanks!

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro. The zoom feature is way too sensitive for my liking, however, there is no way at the moment to control it. As this is a Beta version, these oddities will occur. Hopefully, when Safari 4 is released in final version (no date yet announced) this problem will be fixed.
As I previously did, let Apple know what you are experiencing with the trackpad via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple. If you want to go back to Safari 3, use the Uninstaller that's included in the Safari 4 Downloads package. This is the only safe way to go back to Safari 3.

  • How can I go back and forward on a webbrowser using trackpad?

    Hello
I upgraded my os with Lion.
in the fore version, I could use three fingers to go back and forware on the webbrowser,
    but now I can't.
I can't find any options in any pages.
I think that was very useful..
How can I do it again?

    Hi Hyok:
Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures and make sure you have "Swipe between pages" checked. You can set it for 2 or 3 fingers or 3 fingers only.
The other thing to keep in mind is that, in Lion, the swipe direction will be reversed from Snow Leopard. In other words, to swipe back a page in Safari, you will need to swipe towards the right instead of the left. This mimics the finger movements of the iPad and is more true to what you would do if the page was a physical object and you were moving it out of the way. It could be that you already have this box checked but aren't swiping the right direction to go backwards.
I highly recommend giving this new swiping technique a chance, as I have found it an improvement over the old way. It took me about a week to get used to it. If you try it and really don't like it, you can go to the "Scroll and Zoom" tab in Trackpad preferences and deselect "Scroll direction: Natural".
    Hope this helps.

  • Writing chinese using trackpad

I used to be able to use my MacBook Pro trackpad to write Chinese.  Today it is NOT working even after I rebooted and rebooted the machine.  Don't get me wrong.  Using the "SHIFT + Control + space bar", I could bring up the pad on the screen.  I could even write.  But the only thing wrong was that the words written did not stick with the brower search box in Firefox.  Why is that?

  • AIM Crashes When Using Trackpad

    I have no idea why..
but ever since i had my MBP, AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) always crashed...specifically when i'd use the track pad. i'd try scrolling with trackpad or something and it would just "unexpectedly quit" when i use a mouse, however, it works perfectly normal.
anyone else experience this or know why its happening?

I tried using iChat, but it just didn't feel right after so many years of AIM. I poked around in the OSX downloads section and found Adium, which is very customizable and supports AIM, YIM, MSM messenger, etc.
It has some nice features like easy buddy icon resizing (which YIM would do for you, AIM not at all), but it seems that your buddies can only see yours if they use Adium as well. I'm not sure. There are also some problems with the file transfer system.

  • Using trackpad, cursor 'jumps'. Any ideas?

My wife kindly bought me a Trackpad for my birthday last month and it was really enjoyable to use. After a short while I turned off my Magic Mouse and just uaed the TP. However, I quickly came across a problem inasmuch as when I was typing, and especially when back-spacing, the cursor often jumped to a different line or somewhere else altogether, whoch was quite alarming. I took the TP to Solutions in Chichester, where it came from, and they were outstanding, giving me an immediate replacement. I've tried it out and all went well for some minutes, then it happened again. Any ideas on what I should/could do next?

This is a common problem, and you will find many "solutions" by searching the Magic Mouse and TrackPad section of Apple Support Communities. Judging from the reports, some of them work, some of the time, for some people.
The solution that worked for me is to make sure that no cables are positioned between my Magic Trackpad and my Mac Pro. My Mac Pro is under my desk and my Magic Trackpad is on a pull-out wooden keyboard shelf just above it. I first discovered that when I temporarily moved my Magic Trackpad down onto the floor near the Mac Pro, the jumpiness completely disappeared. So then I moved it back up to the shelf and the jumpiness returned. Finally, I realized that two cables were hanging in front of the Mac Pro in a direct path between the shelf and the Mac Pro (I don't worry about the wooden shelf, because the documentation says wood does not seriously interfere with Bluetooth). As soon as I moved the cables out of the path, the jumpiness again disappeared. Both cables were USB cables connected to other peripherals using the USB ports on the front of the Mac Pro.
In the two weeks since I moved the cables, the jumpiness is almost completely gone. I still get a little occasional jumpiness, but only for a very brief moment when I first start using the Magic Trackpad after a long pause.
In a similar vein, I believe it might be useful to consider whether you have other Bluetooth devices near your Magic Trackpad that might be interfering with the signal. If so, try moving them, or temporarily removing them, to see if the jumpiness goes away.

  • How to use trackpad gestures with Windows 8 Developer Preview?

I have installed a Windows 8 Developer Preview on my MacBook via BootCamp Assistant. I found that it isn't support the trackpad gestures! (ex: two-fingers tap to right-click)
So how can I use the trackpad gestures with Windows 8?
    Thank you for all reply.

The BootCamp drivers that you can download and burn to a disc via the Boot Camp application in Mac OS can be installed in Windows 8 (run setup.exe from the disc while in Windows 8, preferably by right-clicking and choosing "Run as Administrator") and will allow you to use all of the current features of the touchpad (including two finger clicking/tapping).  Once you have installed the drivers as described above, you can then click on the arrow in the System Tray and right-click on the black triangle that is for the BootCamp control panel. In those settings you can change how the touchpad responds to your taps, clicks, etc.

  • When i use trackpad to select text, i must hit keyboard keys twice

i've been using my trackpad successfully for months, but since the last update i've found that when using it to select text by swiping with three fingers, i must hit keyboard keys TWICE to successfully edit text. For example, if i swipe across a sentence and then hit the "delete" button, NOTHING. i have to hit "delete" twice. same with command c, command x, and so on. this is creating real havoc, and happens in nearly all of my applications, including word, dreamweaver, and indesign.
however, this does NOT happen when i select text by tapping.
also, it does NOT happen here in chrome.
i've reset my pram/nvram, confirmed that nothing is checked in my accessibility settings, and reconnected the trackpad. please help...i was just growing to love that dang trackpad.
    thanks...annette

Any or all of the following third-party system modifications may be contributing to your problem:
    SX-Virtual Link
    Soundflower
If the panic is recurrent, I suggest you uninstall them, one at a time, according to the developers' instructions, to see whether you can identify which one is at fault. A conflict between modifications may be involved. Reboot and test after each uninstallation.
Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Why I can't use trackpad or mouse to open files, pics and videos?

This what happend, I have brand new Macbook Pro Retina 15 in, it was working well untill for any reason now I can't open files, pics or videos using the trackpad or mouse single or double click. I have to use right click and then select open or open with.
Any idea why this happening, is any driver I have to redownload or what?

I guess I have to answer me by myself, I check out here that some body allready had the same problem and the answer is go to system preferences select mouse options and then reduce the speed of (double-click speed) but still a issue for mac beacuse I think should work well not matter the speed.

  • Odd Adjustment Behaviour When Using Trackpad

    Has anyone experienced this ?
When I use the trackpad (mighty mouse left at home) I find that my adjustments to NEF RAW images mis-behave. For example, I use the trackpad to select and move the exposure slider for a subtle adjustment, the slider moves a small way right but the screen goes black and the histogram reflects that everything is jammed over left. See the same behaviour with some of the other adjustments too. Not always, but once it starts, every second or third adjustment corrupts. For what it's worth, the histogram always correctly reflects the corruption but it's certainly not what I dialled in ! It can be undone so that's something at least but really the only solution is to wait till I'm re-united with my mouse. Have not yet bee nable to replicate this when the mouse is the input device. Very frustrating when on the road. If you leave the corrupt setting and then untick, you get the image back but tick on again and the corruption is remembered. Any ideas ?

  • Mighty Mouse connected : Want to use trackpad too ???

    Hi,
When my mouse is wirelessly connected I am unable to use the trackpad. Is their a work around for this?
    TIA

Open up System Preferences. Click the "trackpad" icon. At the bottom of the next window, uncheck the "Ignore trackpad if mouse is present" option.
If that doesn't fix things, let me know and we'll see what else we can try.

  • 15" MBP erratic pointer when using trackpad

Just in the last few mins. and seemingly without changing anything my pointer has gotten very erratic while using the trackpad. It will jump around when zeroing in on something to click and even takes a few taps to register. I can even hold my finger in one place on the pad and not move it but yet the pointer will dance around sometimes inches apart. Any idea what could cause this? I've restarted, hard restarted and reset the PRAM. Nothing has helped so far. Thanks.

Nope, always been extremely well taken care of. Has an iSkin keyboard cover.

  • Dragging items using trackpad

Is there a way to use the trackpad on MacBook pro for dragging items into a folder which does not require you to actually "push" the trackpad down?  I prefer just to tap and drag like I did with my older aluminum MacBook from late 2008.  Thanks.

    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility ▹ Mouse & Trackpad ▹ Trackpad Options... ▹ Enable dragging: with Drag Lock
