Layer 2 devices in Path Analysis

Hi
Campus version 3.2 Path Analysis is not showing all the interconnected layer 2 devices.
My customer has 5 x 3500 switches connected to each other - daisy chained . If he starts a trace form one end to the other it only displays the two end devices and nothing in between. Any ideas?

You need to take a look at the list of supported devices and the minimum software required.
Please refer to the document 'Supported Devices for Campus Manager 3.2' at the URL http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps563/products_device_support_table09186a008007fb59.html.
Do also look at the document 'Release Notes for Campus Manager 3.2 on Windows 2000' under the section known problems. This document can be found at:

Hope this helps.

  • Sound has no valid device sound path although exporting device sounds was requested in the export settings. This sound will be ignored.

I have bopped around the forums here for a while now, and while other people seem to have had the same problem as I am having in the past, I come to find that all of the solutions that have worked for others, do not in fact, work for me.
I am running Flash Professional CS6 On an Acer Aspire. 4 Gigs of RAM, 500 Gigs of HD.
The exact problem that I am having is as follows:
I record a sound bit in Audacity, Export the sound as and MP3 File on my main computer Hard Drive.
go to File>Import>Import to Library, I locate the file that I had created, then select it to be imported to my Library.
I then create a new layer in my timeline, Label it as sound, place a new key frame into the timeline layer at the place in the animation that i hope the sound would start, set the audio sync to stream instead of event, then press CTRL+ENTER, which initiates the Test Movie function.
At this time, the "Output" box Pops up and it states,
"Sound has no valid device sound path although exporting device sounds was requested in the export settings. This sound will be ignored."
No sound is played and i cannot, for the life of me, figure out why. I have tried all the troubleshoots that i can find online. I checked the publishing settings and nothing is being Overridden, I've attempted to untick the "export device sounds" option, but it is grayed out and cannot be toggled. I have attempted switching the MP3 format sound clip to a WAV format sound clip. I have attempted to re-recording the sound clip and re-importing the clip to the library. I have checked my computers speakers and everything is in working order and i have even checked to see if other projects sound works.
I pulled up a previous project that i had finished a while back that had loads of sound imported the exact same way and it all works exactly as i expect it too. The sound plays, there is not "Output" box claiming an issue. It seems that the issue, whatever it might be, is stuck to this project itself.
I have even started a new project, imported and placed both the MP3 and the WAV files into the sound layer created, CTRL+ENTER, and it works just fine without problem.
If there is anything that i might have accidentally messed up in this projected that you know about, like settings that may have been changed that would cause such an annoying and seemingly unfixable issue, please let me know. I really do not want to loose this project over such an utterly stupid error.

I've moved your question to the Flash Pro CC forum.

  • Could not complete the new 3D extrusion from selected layer command because the path is too complex.

I was trying to do a photo of mine like in this video but its not working help needed. thanks.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egyLY78H7nE
When I tried the 3D I got an error message that said (could not complete the new 3D extrusion from selected layer command because the path is too complex.) what does this mean and how can i fix it?

There was a bug at one time where really simple paths (like a triangle, for example) could cause that error.
Is your path really simple (I don't plan to go watch the video)?  If so, have you installed the latest update for Photoshop?  That bug may have been fixed already.
If it's not that, it's possible that if your path is really complex and simply exceeding Photoshop's capability.

  • LMS Path Analysis Tool

LMS 3.2 had Path Analysis Tool. Is similar tool in LMS 4.2 ?

I am not even sure if it was in LMS 3.2. This feature was dropped right after 2.6 due to various technical challenges and bugs it had.
As LMS 4.x will not have any new features implemented it is very unlikely to see this feature back in LMS. Not sure if Cisco prime Infrastructutre team would re-introduce this in future.

  • Device Sound Path

    Hi,
I use a flash movie in one of my websites that gets changed
each month (I just swap out an image in it). This month I am
getting an error message that says: Sound has no valid device sound
path although exporting device sounds was requested in the export
settings. This sound will be ignored.
I have never had this come up before and have been doing this
for over a year. The only thing that is different is that I am
using a new computer that has VISTA. Can anyone help me?
    Sandy

Seems like somehow you have ticked the box that says
"Export Device Sounds" in the Filed ->
Publish -> Flash tabs. That is for exporting sounds to
mobile devices and I don't really understand how it works, but my
guess is, "You don't want that."

  • How to transform a layer object and a path at the same time?

    Hi all,
I know I am going to kick myself when you tell me the answer to this!
I would really like to know if there is any way I can manage to to transform both a layer object and a path at the same time....or if there is any workaround to achieve this.
In a nutshell, say for example I spend a VERY long time creating an intricate path around a very detailed object, and then at the very end notice just how crooked and out of perspective it is, and would like to straighten it.
Of course I could transform and correct the object, and then carefully transform the path - but it just won't be exact, and I will have to spend a long time adjusting the path and making SURE it is perfect.
Isn't there any way I could get to transform them together?
Usually of course I do all the correction to straighten and correct perspective beforehand, but in some instances after I am done creating the path I then notice that the image could have used further adjustments.
I appreciate so very much any advice you may have:)
    Thank you kindly,
    Christine

Okay...I found another way as well... suddenly it all started coming to me in the last few minutes:)
Once the image is on it's own layer, then we can select the path and then make a vector mask by going to "Layer>Vector Mask>Current Path". Once the vector mask is created, simply click on the image icon on it's layer, then transform away to your heart's content, and the path is transformed along with it. Once finished, the path for the vector mask can be saved as usual. (Don't click on the vector mask icon when transforming the image, otherwise only the path will be transformed.)

  • Impact / Critical Path Analysis

One of those questions where it would be nice to hear from other professionals working in the industry rather than the masses...
tldr; Is anyone aware of any tools for impact analysis or critical path analysis for LV?
I develop automated test platforms for UUTs. There are often several members of a related product family that can be tested on a platform. If I make a change to some code that executes on all class members, I have to validate that that change does not unduly impact my ability to test all products through it. For some of our products, this is actually a regulatory requirement for a particular approval, but for most others it's just good practice.
What happens when you have code that executes conditionally depending on the child type? The calling VI is, in theory, different - do I need to test the other cases for other products that haven't been affected, or do I need to only test the critical path that's been affected? Furthermore, how do I even check whether the critical path for a process has changed? Compare tools might tell me that the top level VI has changed, but will they indicate that most of the conditional code has not?
As with anything, any validation like this requires a modicum of common sense in its application. And there are plenty of manual things I can do to track critical paths for different children, but it'd be nice to find something a bit more powerful. I would imagine a combination of bookmarks, a rigorous standard for contents and a bit of VI Scripting could generate what I'm after, but it seems like a common problem that others would have encountered.

Hi I don't' know how much help this is going to be, but I guess it's better then nothing...
This might not make any difference but usually when you want to draw or write things you use a panel or a component for it. Think off the frame as a regular fame and the panel/component as the picture/paper that you want to put inside the frame.
I can't see the paint method for your oval. There's a class called Graphics that has a method called drawOval that you can use.
Last but not least you need a MouseListener, so you can tell when the mouse has been clicked.

  • Selecting Shape/Vector Layer is auto displaying path in canvas - It shouldn't

When i click on a layer (in layer palette), it is auto showing the path on the canvas.  It didn't do this in CS5.
I am able to turn off "Target Path" in the View > Show > Target Path menu option. But that is only temporary.
The path should only display on the canvas when i click on the path (on the canvas) with a vector tool.
    Basically, i want the CS5 behavior. :-)

    Thanks for the feedback.
This request has been discussed in depth in several other threads.
It's a painpoint we're aware of and the changes for it will not make it for the CS6 release.
There are ways to work with it, such as what Noel has suggested with the Esc key, you can also use the Enter key (with a vector tool selected) to hide the boundary line, or as you have suggested as well. CMD/Ctrl + H to show/hide toggle.

  • Layer zooming and motion path

I have a very map of the USA (4000x3000)
1.) I cant get good output resolution on this image 1st of all???
I have a circle that is an emitter.
I have a motion on the emitter path that follows a highway.
the emitter, the map and the circle are all in the same layer.
the map is static, then zooms out.
the emitter starts off correctly, but as the map is zooming out, the emitter looses reference until the zoom out stops, then the emitter continues to follow the motion path correctly.
    2. how can I get the emitter to stay on the motion path even as the layer is zooming out.

Well, that's a problem. Fixed Resolution was introduced in 2.0.
So, you have a big map (too big, really) and you have the map and the emitter following a path and they're all on a layer and you're playing with the size of the layer?

  • BT Cloud Device Folder Path Problem

The Cloud backup was working well on my Windows 8.1 desktop and using the device view, I could navigate down through the directory path C:\Users\Alan\Pictures\(then about 10 sub-folders) to see the backed up images all showing in their respective folders, just as they are organised on my desktop, and which was very useful.
Then I decided that I didn’t need one of the 10 sub-folders to be backed up so to save backup space I set about removing that one folder from the backup. This was difficult as the individual sub-folders were not showing in the settings. Just the “Pictures” folder was listed.
So I added the required 9 sub-folders individually and unchecked the “Pictures” folder.
Now when I try to navigate down the file path it stops at the C:\Users\Alan\ level with the message “This folder does not contain any files”. I can’t get down to the sub-folders where the images are stored.
From the Pictures view the images appear to be backed-up, but they are all together and not organised.
Can anyone help please? Is there a way to reinstate the directory path without having to delete everything and start again?

    Hi StephanieG
Thanks for the reply. (Sorry for my delay in replying, for some reason I didn’t receive a notification)
If I look in the BT Cloud “ALL FILES” section under “PICTURES” it looks like all my photos are probably backed-up.
If I use the BT Cloud “DEVICES” view and click on the C folder, then USERS then ALAN, I can’t get any further because at that level none of the sub-folders are shown, simply the message “This folder does not contain any files”.
So if I need to find a particular photo the only option now is to trawl through the thousands using the BT Cloud “PICTURES” view.
I need a way to re-establish the folder path so I can see the photos organised in separate folders (as they are on my computer)
A bit difficult to explain but I hope this makes it clearer.

  • Unknown Device - Device Instance Path (ACPI\INT33BD\1)

I have a unknown device in device manager. When I plug in my power cord to charge i get a black screen as soon as i unplug the windows screen comes back. Not sure if these are related or not.

Hi: I am pretty sure you need this driver.  The latest is for W8.1. This package provides the driver that enables the Intel SidebandFabric device. Intel Sideband Fabric Device Driver is a bridge tothe Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework. This package isprovided for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. File name: sp65474.exe I don't know if not having that driver installed is related to the black screen issue.

  • Bug: Hidden Paths Disrupting Layer Selection

I'm experiencing a possible bug when attempting to Command+Click a layer in my document to turn it into the active layer. I've included a short video to help better demonstrate the issue.
If multiple shape layers are present, including a layer with a 'subtraction path', the hidden paths of the layer that's been subtracted from effects auto-selection. If the hidden paths overlap another nearby layer, Command+clicking on the nearby layer actually selects the shape with the hidden paths.
The expected behavior should be that the hidden paths are ignored, allowing the user to select the layer underneath, like it was in CS5.
This is very difficult to explain in text, so please watch the attached video.

Brett. You are correct. If I move the layer with the hidden paths lower in the Layers Panel, I am able to select the text layer. Should this be the behavior though? I can definitely see cases where this would be frustrating. Paths which are used for subtraction purposes should be invalid, in my opinion.
Edit: Just read your response. New behavior meaning 'as designed', or unexpected behavior?

  • CS6 clipping path for layer group

    Hi
In PS cs6 i cant find how to create clipping path for layer group (apply to folder from some shape layer with alt + drag&drop) created with pen, rectangle etc tools.
Here is how it should look in cs6 but i don't know how to do that
    Thanx in advance

Shape Layers’ Vector Masks don’t appear in the Layers Panel in CS6 (seems like a bad idea to me, but that’s the way it is now), so you could still select the Shape Layer with a Path Tool, select the Paths, copy, select the Group, paste, Layer > Vector Mask > Current Path or command-click the Layer Mask icon in the Layers Panel.

  • "Text on a path" and "paths" rasterised when printed from a PDF on an iGen

I have just obtained from the printer the first proof of my book (printed on an iGen) and I'd like to find out where one of the problems lie. I'll ask the printer his opinion before second proof, but I don't like to annoy him unnecessarily.
One of the chapters in the book has a lot of maps. I drew rivers by stroking a path, and named the rivers using 'Text on a Path' so that the text follows the curve of the river. Some of the maps have a pale background image on a different layer. And this is where the problem seems to lie.
    1. Rivers (and their names) appear normal on a map WITHOUT a background. By 'normal' I mean they look sharp. When magnified they seem to have been drawn as vectors.
    2. On maps WITH a background layer, 'Text on a path' appears very chunky (as if it has been rasterised at about 300 dpi) and paths (the rivers) appear to have the jaggies. Horizontal text does not appear to be affected.
I can't be certain that (1) and (2) exactly define the problem, but it's as close as I can get at the moment.
When I opened the original PDF file from which the book was printed, no matter how much I enlarge it, all paths and 'type on a path' retain their smoothness. i.e they are obviously vectors. However, I noticed when I opened the PDF in Acrobat 7 and tried to edit the 'text on a path', the PDF went haywire: the text I tried to edit disappeared, and other text frames on the page were shifted around.
A sample PDF (6.7 MB, including an original two-page spread, and a scanned copy of the iGen print of the same), can be downloaded from:
    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?oe4omuzoqzz
    Two questions:
Q1: On the maps with a background image, is the rasterising of stroked paths, and 'text on a path' due to the iGen mishandling the file? Or might there be another explanation?
Q2: Re Acrobat 7 mishandling my 'text on a path': is this a bug that has been fixed in later versions of Acrobat?
To reproduce this bug do this: Open the PDF described above, and within Acrobat 7 select Tools > Advanced Editing > Touchup Text Tool. Then click inside the name "Georgina River", backspace to try and delete a letter, and the PDF should go haywire.

Sandee: Almost certainly below the text, but I'd have to check them all.
But before I do that, we'll have to go back a step. I can almost handle layers in InDesign, but didn't know they existed in PDFs. The printer printed from the PDF and as far as I can tell after a brief visit to HELP, there aren't any layers in the PDF. When I go to View > Navigation Tabs > Layers and click on the Layer Tab when it appears, there's nothing there; and all the items under Options are grayed.
Q1: Why do I need a layer in a PDF? By not having layers, can that cause problems?
Q2: Re Robert's suggestions: what do you mean by "move all the text to a top layer"? Within InDesign before I export to PDF?
Q3: Is printing more foolproof when I export to PDF, if all my text is on the one layer in InDesign and that layer is above any images? There are several hundred river names, place names etc, sitting on lower layers, but if need be I'll move them all.

  • Flashlite 3 - cs3 device central update crashing :(

    Hi all,
    I've just installed flash9_en_us_9_0_2_update and
AdobeDeviceCentralAll_Patch.dmg (osx). So I can now publish to
Flashlite3. However, I have a flash file which runs fine in device
central when exported as Flashlite2 but when I try to export it as
Flashlite3 (using any of the adobe generic flashlite3 profiles) it
begins to run in device central but then device central crashes
    (quit unexpectedly) :(
I don't suppose anyone here has any ideas what might be going
    wrong?
