Layer a grid over photo

How do I layer a grid over a photo and print photo with grid...... I use this method for drawing.   Thanks!

Aperture excels at converting, developing, storing, retrieving, and publishing digital photographs.  It has limited tools for creating graphics from your photographs.  For that you need a graphics program.  Graphics program allow compositing.
Search the forum for "compositing" -- I think you'll turn up some helpful posts with links.
You could, of course, print the photograph and then draw your grid right on the print.

What is the exact version and what’s your OS?
What does the crash report state?
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

  • I have a white haze over photos when taking a picture with my flash

I have a white haze over photos when taking a picture with my flash.  What can I do to fix it?

After the ios7 update, my wife's phone began having these same issues and we assumed it was a flaw with the update.
But  after some trial and error, we concluded it was the illumination of the  white plastic backing of the iPhone 4.  We tried a different protective  case, we blackened the apeture of the black case with a black sharpie,  none of those things worked.
It  was noted that the white and blurry photos only occurred with a case  installed.  Without a case, the photos were perfect.  It is a *** issue.
Since  we were using a case and appearance was not that big of an issue, I  decided to apply a strip of black electrical tape with holes punched out  for the camera and flash mechanisms and reapplied the protective case.   This tacky fix solved 95% of the white blurry look to the flash photos.
So  a work-around is to apply a non-transparent piece of tape, or sticker  with appropiate sized holes for the camera lens and flash LED on the  back of the white plastic phone case.  It's tacky, it's a poor design  from apple, but it works.

  • Is anyone using iPhoto having a problem with the slide show using shatter where it does not let you put a title over photo?

Is anyone using iPhoto having a problem with the slide show using shatter where it does not let you put a title over photo? It use to work but it no longer lets you place a title over the opening photo.

Is your signature still current?(iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4))    I can confirm this for iPhoto '11; Shatter will only show the text slide title between the slides. Ken Burns and Classic theme can still be set to overlay the caption and title directly over the slides.

  • Why do I get a grid over my image when I first open it up?

Why do I get a grid over my image when I first open it up?  I've looked in my preferences and can't find a way to have this issue stop.

Are you saying that if you turn off the Grid, it reappears the next time you open an image?  That is obviously wrong, and tjhe setting is in Preferences as you surmised, so if that is what is happening, I'd try deleteing the preferences file to reset it.  (Shift Alt Ctrl while you lauch Photoshop)

  • Turn off metadata display box when mousing over photos?

When mousing over photos in the viewer or browser, a box pops up next to the cursor showing metadata. I find this very distracting and annoying when editing a photo or confirming faces. In Aperture 2, you could turn it off under preferences, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to turn it off in Aperture 3 (metadata has a separate tab rather than controlling the viewing of metadata under preferences in A2). Hitting the letters Y and U work in the viewer and browser, respectively, but only for one photo - doesn't stop it for good. I've tried messing around with all the other metadata view settings. Any ideas?

Hitting the letter T toggles the display, you can adjust this setting with Command -J.

  • Elements 9 - how to add the grid over "free transform" to twist an image/layer

    Hi Every one!
Im sure I asked this before, but I cant for the life of me find the post!! I think I must have dreamed it!! (shame I didnt dream the answer lol)
OK so Im now on photoshop elements 9, Is there a way to properly bend and transform a layer? I USED to for to free transform (control
+T) then click on a grid at the top of the screen which ment I could bend any part of the picture...
If I tell you what Im trying to do it might help?
Im trying to bend a rainbow.. at the moment Ive used the rectangle tool and created a rectangle rainbow, but Id like to bend it into shape, maybe even distort it a little to look like this...
    stbanabaspreschool.vpweb.co.uk/default.html

Well, I think the best way to create a rainbow would be to use a vector program, but there's a way to use PSE9 to get a rainbow effect that might be useful.
    Create a new image.
Use the fill tool with a spectrum fill (I used the "Medium" spectrum):
Create a small, tight circular fill:
Zoom in to give yourself room to work on it.
Make a circular selection around the outer edge of the spectrum, invert the selection and delete it:
Make a small circular selection in the center, delete that; make a rectangular selection covering the bottom half and delete that:
Select the spectrum and use Layer...New...Layer via Copy to get the spectrum on its own layer with a transparent background.  Then squish the spectrum:
Rotate the spectrum 90 deg. right and move it to the left of the image area:
Use Filter...Distort...Shear with these settings to pull the spectrum into an arc:
Rotate the spectrum back left, and transform it into something useable:
    The layers look like this:
It ain't perfect, but might be good enough.

  • Invisible grid over image?

Just come back to a piece of work afte my son was playing with the computer, and he's set up something in Photoshop that I've never seen before. Really strugling to describe it – there seems to be an invisble grid or chequerboard over my image somehow. When I try to paste another image into a new transparent layer (I'm trying to combine two images), it doesn't appear solid but has transparent squares all over it. Also, if I try to select a block of colour with the magic wand tool, the marching ants go into a chequerboard shape. In the hope of un-setting this I've taken the history way back to beore I last worked on the image, but no joy – it's some kind of option that will have to be switched off. I'm sue it's something incredibly simple and obvious, it's just that I can't find it!

Thank you for your help, Trevor, but it isn't either of these things. I'd already checked the Fill option, and in Paintbucket it's set to the blank page option. I uploaded this image to show the pattern itself, in case someone recognised it as something specific - but it doesn't only affect the fill function. It also chops lines of rectangles out of anything I try to paste in, and if I use a selection tool such as the magic wand, it selects a column of the rectangles instead of the usual colour range.
I'll try getting rid of preferences etc (I haven't been using Photoshop on my home computer for long enough to have set any, so that's not complicated!) to see if it helps. I know it's an up to date version; it's a Creative Cloud sub, and I've downloaded every update since I subscribed. If I can't sort it out I'll have to proudly tell Adobe that my four-year-old son has managed to break it!!

  • Can't get title and time/date from appearing over photo in Develop or Library

I must have done this when I was trying to do some other keyboard shortcut and got the wrong one - and now I can't figure out how to get rid of it. But a few weeks ago, I did something and now the file name, date/time and image size appear in white text over the top-left of any photo I have in the Develop or Library screens:
So you can see "_MG_0955.CR2" and the other details in the clouds there. Does anyone know how to get rid of that? I can't find anything in any of the menus. I'm on Lightroom 4.3 for Mac OSX Mountain Lion.
    Thanks!

Ltter I on you keyboard cycles through the info of the Loupe View (same in Develop Module).
You set what you want to see by pressing Cmd. + J - and select the parameters for Info 1 and Info2.
    Letter I cycles thus: Info 1 - Info 2 - No overlay.

  • Hi  I'm back -- lines shake when panning over photo of sheet music

    Hi everyone,
I'm Ken Burns-ing diagonally over a photo of sheet music. The lines shake and quake and look terrible. Anyone encountered this?
Also, for those of you who don't read my other thread, thanks for your posts re: the levels issue. Sorry, I've been off the board for a few weeks due to personal emergencies and illness and am just getting back to the project tonight. Just didn't want you guys to think i was blowing off your responses.
    EG =)

David and Bryan have covered most of the issues. This just puts the general solutions in some sort of order ...
The flickering is a result of very thin (often horizontal) elements that exist on one scanline. As the alternate fields play the one element is essentially being turned on/off. The basic strategy is to get the element to exist over two scanlines so it is refreshed every time the field plays.
Things to try (In increasing order of image degradation)
    - (in FCP) field dominance (more rightly termed order) > none
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) reduce whites by 10% (and the blacks if nec) - reduces overly bright areas and reduces overall contrast
-(in FCP) flicker filter - minimum
    - (in Photoshop) motion blur>vertical> .2 - .5 pixel - blurs vertically only
    - (In FCP or Photoshop) Gaussian blur> up to .2 - .5 pixel -blurs both horizontally as well as vertically
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) deinterlace - throws away half the image and is generally not appropriate on scanned images
Remember: Make sure you are viewing your work in the appropriate external NTSC/PAL monitor. The computer monitor only shows you a proxy image.
    good luck.

  • Captions appearing over photo in Develop?

For some reason, the photo captions have started appearing in quite large font over the top left of the photo in Develop. How do I remove them? And why did they suddenly appear? (the answer to the first will probably answer the second).Thanks.
    Richard

Use the "I" key to cycle through the view options (there are three modes: Info Overlay 1, Info Overlay 2, and Off).

  • Shattered theme with text over photo

How do you use the shatted theme and place text over a photo?  I have to use a blank text screen.  I did it before, but cant use i now.

If you can't get both titles and descriptions with the Classic theme try creating a new slideshow and give it another go"
If that fails as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • Trouble with Titles over Photos

I am having issues placing titles over the photos in my movie. I can create the titles and preview the title over the photo. When I click and drag the title icon to the timeline to place over the photo the title disappears. I have made sure that the duration of the title is not longer than the photo's duration.
    Thank you

    Welcome to the discussions!
Are you sure that you are dragging the "T" (beside the type of title you want) over the beginning of the clip or at least to a point where you have split the clip?
Also, do you see a little green circle with the + sign in it where you are attempting to drop it? If not, you may be trying to drop it after a transition and you need to place the title there first then add the transition.
