Layer style drop shadow default black has 1 unit of green in it. Why is all the blacks in styles not pure black? ie

Like the title says, very frustrating to have to change every style back to black.
This happens on any document I open or create.
I am running Photoshop CS6 on Windows 7.

Is there a way to change the drop shadow default in FCP? It seems everytime I choose to use a drop shadow I have to set the parameters different from the default. I always use the same settings.

My work-around for this is to lay a title out at the end of a sequence, all set up with my shadow parameters, etc. When it's time to cut in a title, I razorblade off a little piece, pull it into position, add the particular type and pull it out to length. Or sometimes I set up the title, and then just paste it a number of times as needed, then change the type.
Kludgy at first, but you can get pretty quick with it.

Blend modes in "stroke"-layer styles not working ?

Hi. Anybody else got problems with the the blend modes in the "stroke" layer style, or am I doing something wrong?
right click on layer > blending options > stroke > blend mode
(position=inside)
I want to use "fill type"="gradient", but the blend modes do not even work with "fill type"=color. For both fill modes, the stroke does not let any pixels of the layer shine through, no matter what blend mode I choose.
I often use blend modes, for example "darken", etc. I know how they work, but somehow for the stroke layer style it seems not to work at all.
I know, it's pretty basic, but I have spent several hours on that and simply don't succeed. Thanks for any help.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Are you on a slow Network Connection? I would recommend you to Clear the browser Cache and History and then try again or try using a different browser on a different Network Connection.

Changing Drop Shadow Default - PSE3, Mac

Is there a way to change the default setting on the drop shadow length of 21 to a lower number? 21 just is way too much for a layer with say an envelope. An envelope just wouldn't leave that large of a drop shadow! I'm much more likely to need to lower the size that to raise it to something over 21. Another question...is there a way to select another color for the outer glow colors?

Debbie, et al,
When I spoke of "High" and "Low" it was in reference to two of the Drop Shadow presets found in the Layer Styles palette, in the Drop Shadows group. That being said, I have observed something else!
The distance of the drop shadow created is relative to the resolution of the image. The higher the resolution, the greater the drop shadow distance, in pixels, shown in the Style Settings dialog.
For instance, when I reported my earlier values of 29 and 5, I was working with a document with a resolution of 72ppi. When I apply the same High/Low styles to a document with a resolution of 300ppi, I get distances of 121 and 21 pixels, respectively. A resolution of 100ppi receives shadow distances of 40 and 7.
Thinking about it, it makes sense that the number of pixels of shadow "distance" would vary with the resolution, to represent a similar appearance for "High" and "Low" from image to image.
Of course, this will only complicate Debbie's issue of managing the initial Drop Shadow distance setting, because we now know that it varies with image resolution. *sigh*

Adjustment Layer with drop shadow not working

Hi,
I have a problem when trying to use an adjustment layer to apply a drop shadow to multiple images.
Here's what I'm trying to do.
I am creating a floating gallery in After Effects CC (latest updates are installed).
There are 75 photos and each photo is a 3D layer.
I want to add a adjustment layer to automatically add a drop shadow to all the images on the timeline.
It doesn't seem to work. Is there another work-around other then manually adding the effect to each image.

LAYER STYLES NOT RENDERING

hi! :) i'm using after effects cs3 on a quadecore pc, 2gb RAM. my output is in quicktime .mov. layer styles that i've added doesn't come out in my rendered project like drop shadow or stroke. none of my layers are in 3D so i don't know what i may or may not be doing right in my render settings or project switches. help?

Well, depending on your output module templates and render settings, OpenGL may be enabled by default for some of them. You can easily change that by going in the menu and choosing Edit --> Templates --> Render Settings (the setting is a checkbox called "Render using OpenGL").

Layer Styles Not Saving for Use on Other Computers

I've been trying over and over for the last 6 hours to get the layer styles I save in my custom pallet to work on other computers. I mean, I have a bunch of pallets from other sources and somehow they achieved a way of being able to save theirs, now why can't I do it on mine?
So, here's the story of what I've done. I have a Text layer, I've added a list of FX to it via the Layer Styles menu. Now I save the document. I open up a new document and copy/paste the FX onto a new Text layer in another document window. It works great.
Then, I save the layer styles for use later, but no. When I do everything exactly the same way, my Layer Style that I saved has lost all it coordinates of shadows and stroke widths, bevels, you name it, it's screwed up. Now I've tried this so far on CS4 and CS5, 3 different computers. All 3 computers have different settings for how Photoshop is set up, so I know it's NOT my settings alone. Though, it keeps the colors and custom gradients how they are, everything is bonkers.
I'm ready to stop trusting in Photoshop to be there for me when I need it...or punch a hole in the wall. Whichever comes first.
I need help for this as soon as possible, for I have an assignment I need this for.
Running: Windows 7 64

Seems to me you left out the most critical piece of information, that is, HOW did you save the layer style for later use ?

CS4 extended Layer styles not working

Running CS4 extended on Vista64, Corei7 quad @2.9 GHz, 8 Gig Ram and nVidia quadro FX 1700. I can not get layer styles to work in documents that originated in CS3 extended. If I start a new document they work.

Well, I ended up copying all of the layers from the old PSD to a CS4 psd and it worked. Since it is a web page it had a lot of layers and it was a major pain in the hooey... but it did work.

CS5 - Where has Web Photo Gallery gone? I use it all the time to prepare galleries for Dreamweaver.

Having just upgraded from CS2 to CS5, I cannot find Web Photo Gallery (previously File, Automate, Web Photo Gallery).
This was very useful to prepare galleries of images sent to me by our group members in all sizes, so I could send all the gallery files straight into Dreamweaver for uploading to our website.

In CS2 they offered thumbnails of the gallery styles. Hitting Refresh Preview in CS5 requires the photos to load the gallery. Doesn't take too long, but the other was quick and simple.

I strongly recommend against switching to tmobile. They seem cheaper up front, but their "unlimited" data cuts you off at a certain point. They will even send you messages saying that you "went over your limit." Not only that but they sneak in fees, charges, and services that were never agreed upon making your bill more expensive. And forget ever trying to change your contract. They'll change it for you, but what they don't tell you is that they are roping you into another 2 year contract from that point on. No paperwork, no signatures, no nothing. They just screw you.
But other than that, yes you can unlock your iphone and use it with them. Though I wouldn't if I were you.

It is three fingers, not two. From the Users Guide:
