Layered Numbers instead of then Text

When i look at emails in Apple mail the emails are layered numbers. So rather then a text emal I get lines of layered numbers. When I try and write a new email everything that I type comes out as layered numbers. This is also a problem with Safari. Web pages like digg.com are all layered numbers but pages like Google search are not. When I surf with Firefox all the pages look normal. I have no idea why this is happening.

According to Kurt Lang...Helvetica Fractions is a known source of many font issues. Kurt Lang also has an excellent treatise called Font Management in Mac OS X Tiger and Panther.

It used to display the names if there was a contact listed, now it just shows numbers regardless of whether or not the number corresponds to a contact name in the contact list. Can anyone help? I googled this problem and lots of folks have experienced it, however there is not a consensus for a resolution.

Alexandribill, I have been having the exact same issue. I got a new phone and restored my contacts. If the # doesn't have the area code first then the name isn't shown. I just added my husbands area code to my phone and called my phone from his and now his name shows up...Ugh, I have to go through and manually add the area code to all my contacts....
I'd say Verizon needs to rewrite their program to include the area code in the restoring from backup process!

I take it these are iMessages contacts ?
Are you using iCloud to Sync your Contacts apps info ?
In Messages > Preferences > Accounts > Details Button (You will need to sign in again) do you have the correct Country/Region set ?
This can effect the adding of the correct Country Code prefix to your own number and distort the coming form the Contacts app if the number there don't include a Country Code.

hopeing someone has a solution,
I recieve some important PDF files around 4-5 times a day but recently, half of them are coming through as an e-mail packed with numbers instead of a blank e-mail with a PDF attachement.
any idea whats happening here?

If it's a one page PDF then they will tend to show in the body of the body of the email on an iPad. You should still be able to do copy the PDF to another app by pressing and holding the PDF and after a second or two you should get a popup

How to edit phone numbers in contacts for text messages

My number is blocked so others can't see my phone number. In order to unblock my number for friends and relatives, I added *82 in front of those phone numbers in my contact list to override the block and show my number. So here's the problem -- when I want to send a new text message to someone in my contact list (whose number is preceded by *82), I need to edit the number to remove those extra characters in order to be able to send a text message to them. Is there any way I can edit the phone number from within the messaging function?

I am havng a similar problem that I can't figure out. I have mutiple numbers for each contact. i.e. mobile with *82, mobile without *82 for texting, home number, work number etc... I would like for them to come up in a spicific order. The two mobile numbers first and then home and work. That way I can get to the mobile numbers first as those are most used. Also so to save time knowing that all contacts are in the same order. So far it has been random for each contact. Some come up mobile first either with or without *82, others come up home first and some come up work first. I have tried deleting the entire contact and starting over thinking that the first number you enter becomes the primary. That didn't work. Any suggestions?

Can objects be anchored to boxes instead of/in text?

I'm working on a newsletter and have created my "continued on page x" and "continued from page x" boxes to connect my articles together. I've been able to create Object Styles for each one and have anchored them to the text box. My problem is that if I should happen to resize the main text box which contains the article, for instance, the text obviously flows; and depending on where the anchors are, they may jump to the next text box. My workaround has been to place my anchors close to the middle of the text in the text box (especially after the first text box). Occasionally I run into problems if the text is edited or removed then I lose the anchors altogether.
Is there a way to anchor objects so that they don't reflow, can lock to a particular box or simply anchor to the box instead of the text? If there is a better way, I'm open to that too.

There's a trick which I've been preaching for years:
Use text on a path to anchor the continued text to your text frame.
You'll need to construct your text frame the right way around to
prevent the text on the path to creep around the frame as it's resized.
You'll need to be careful in CS4 though, because of a bug which
prevents text on a path from being exported beyond a certain page...

Check to see if you have contacts in your Contacts app. This is something that can happen sometimes, and is usually cured by resetting the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. No data will be lost.

Numbers instead of name in display?

I moved all data from my contact list to the new 4s. Since then every contacts first number is showed with name when they call me but the second number is shown with numbers instead of name?

Verizon? Dial *228 and reactivate. This has been known to work. If it is for another wireless carrier, you will need to call them and get their reactivation sequence.

Excel Export - Numbers are displayed as text

When the report is exported to excel from SAP LIst Viewer screen -
List -> Export -> Spreadsheet ->All Available format --> In Office 2003 XML format.
The report opens up in excel, the numbers (numerical values) are displayed as text. How can we change the system setting, so when the report is exported to excel, the numbers are not converted to text.
I found SAP Note 1393974 - WD ABAP ALV: Excel export: Numbers are interpreted as text - which is related to WD setting.
But it does not mention about the GUI ALV.

List->Export->Local file and then select spreadsheet from the list.
You will get the actual data in excel sheet.

Bullets (numbers) in bold type, text in regular...impossible?

I've searched high and low and could not find a solution to my problem:
How can I format a bullet (in my case, numbers) WITHOUT formatting the text next to it. I mean, bullet in bold and text in regular type.
Am I missing something or is this not possible in Keynote?
Any help is most welcome.

Are the contact details in your contacts app, the phone app uses the contact app to put names against telephone numbers.

On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Messages -> Receive At -> Caller ID and make sure the phone number is selected - this will cause new messages sent from your iPhone to appear to come from your iPhone phone number.
(I actually prefer to have my email selected, so that when I message someone from my iPhone and they reply, it goes to both my iPhone and iPad)
Also, when you send a message from your iPhone, make sure you're not replying within an existing conversation (that was created on your iPad and linked to your email). Just start a new conversation (even if it's to the same person) by going to the Messages app, going back to "Messages" (top left corner) if you're already looking at a conversation, and then clicking the Compose icon in the top right.
