Layering and locking a h.264 movie on top of a flash file

Let me start by apologizing. My Flash skills far outdo my
DreamWeaver abilities, so I'm pretty new at the program.
I have run into a problem that has forced me back to DW and
that is for the video quality I need, I have to use Apple's H.264
codec; however, I cannot embed this in Flash like the flv's that I
was using. So my question is: Can I layer a .mov file on top of a
Flash file in Dreamweaver and lock it's position so that they stay
together? It seems that this is what Hollywood is doing with their
movie trailers on their websites. I would really appreciate any
feedback on this.

The standard solution is to set wmode="transparent" and <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> in your embed/object html, but that only helps to fix the problem in win/IE. The problem has been there on Adobe's own home page for years. If you're unlucky enough to use a Mac there's no effective solution for this problem.

  • After loading k-lite can't view converted h.264(mov) files on quicktime

Got an hd camcorder for christmas that records in the h.264(mov)format. Could only play files on quicktime 7 but processor to slow and video stuttered and lagged audio. Downloaded binks radtools to convert file to avi, which played farely decent in quicktime. Decided to try k-lite codec pack to see if i could improve on this. While instaling, k-lite told me "the preferred source filter that "h.264" is set to is invalid" and asked if it could remove it from the windows registry. thinking this could be problem i click yes. k-lite did not improve viewing with its instaled player and when i tried to play my converted file in quicktime i get only white screen but good audio. removed k-lite but still get same results with converted avi file in quicktime. (I think the preferred source removed was a nero application)
Does anyone have any ideas on how to repair this? I want to purchase quicktime 7 Pro to convert files to avi but not if i am going to get the same playback results.

If you can't find it in QuickTime Pro, ask the person that created the files.
FWIW, you'd be better off just capturing the DV tapes in FCP directly.

  • Rendering Flash files to .mov.

I use Flash for my job and I need to render to .mov files. My MacPro cannot handle it. It should be able to. It's a 2x2.4 GHz quad core Intel powered machine with 32 GB of memory. And it has a ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB graphics card. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your reply, but I don't think this will be the solution.
I create Flash animations and then export them as .mov files. And that is the problem. When I export the Flash file as a movie I get poor results. However, when one of my colleagues exports the same file on their Windows-based PC, the movie is perfect.
I am sure a Mac Pro should be able to do this, and I am looking for the fix to make it possible.
    Any suggestion is welcomed.

  • How to control adobe flash files with sliders and buttons

    Hi,
I am trying to make a front panel for a vehicle completely designed in flash, and control it through labview.  I can load a flash file into an activex container successfully.  I have followed this thread here http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=351719  and gotten everything working.
But my question is, how can I send data to the flash file from labview?  Some examples of things I need to do:  Interpret a CAN signal and have some text appear on the screen, Make buttons flash, etc.
I understand how to load the swf, Im just not sure how to communicate with it.  One thing to mention is that the front panel for the vehicle will be fully custom coded.  However in the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to control it from labview.  Like if there is a clock.swf out on the net, how can I change the time from labview?  Is there a way to see what parameters are available for changing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
What specific Active X framework are you using to embed the container? The thread you referenced mentions Shockwave's Active X API, does this set of Active X functions expose methods for object control?
Could you elaborate as to the driver behind a fully Flash based front panel embedded within LabVIEW? Is this application inevitably going to be deployed as thin client software?
For interaction with custom flash applications aside from Active X, LabVIEW has an integrated Web Services feature to allow data transfer from custom thin client applications to the LabVIEW environment for processing and instrument control. A detailed discussion of the Web Services feature may be found via the links below:

  • Is it normal for Compressor and FCP to analyse an imported progressive H.264 movie as interlaced?file

I am worried my programs are corrupt, because FCP tells me my progressive H.264 file is interlaced (upper first) and Compressor analyses the same movie as bottom first. It should be progressive! Why are they not telling me it's progressive, and why both different to each other? Is it because theyn can't analyse a H.264 file correctly?! Please someone tell me what's going on!
    Thanks, Syd

    Hi Shane, thanks for replying.
The reason I imported the H.264 movie into FCP was to add a short logo clip to the end of it, which was requested after I had exported a self-contained movie from my timeline and already started converting in Compressor... it took 60 hours to deinterlace (set to Best) and convert to H.264 all in one Batch (using only a single target...I did everything in one target, rather than chaining). I know you can't edit in H.264, but I thought adding something to the end and then re-exporting to H.264 might work...
anyway, that's why I imported it, and then noticed that FCP analysed it as being still interlaced... So it occurred to me to check the movie Compressor had exported by importing it back into Compressor to look at what the A/V attributes tab of the inspector said... and it said there it was progressive. So now I was worried my programs were disagreeing, so I went back to square one, converted my original footage to Pro Res in Compressor, then ran that Pro Res footage through Compressor to de-interlace, then reconnected media in my FCP timeline, so that all the clips in the timeline were now progressive. Then I exported that as a self-contained movie and imported into Compressor to convert to H.264. Finally, knowing no other way to analyse the footage, and also wanting to see what FCP would make of it, I imported the movie into FCP, and found the result I put in the first post of this thread... so tried analysing in Compressor again, and found that Compressor thinks it is as I wrote in the first post above.
So now Compressor tells me the file it previously converted to progressive isn't progressive, and thinks it has a different dominant field to the one FCP thinks it has, even though the first time I ran this movie through Compressor it analysed its own result as progressive... so I feel these incompatible analyses are possibly a symptom of something wrong?
How can I analyse a H.264 file if neither FCP or Compressor can do it?

We will customize a very detailed reply, but
    (a) What are the properties of your source media?
    (b) What did you or the program set as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
    (c) What specific requirements do you have for this H.264.mov export file?
File size can be a compromise between bitrate, file size, and quality.

  • GH4 and h.264 MOV and FCP 7

I'm just now figuring out how to edit 1080 HD h.264 MOV files from my Panasonic GH4. I have no trouble importing them, but as soon as I put these clips into the Timeline they need rendering. After rendered all is fine. I've read on-line that FCP 7 doesn't like h.264 and that one should convert these files to ProRes. I've tried that and that works fine too.
But what I'm wondering is: what is FCP 7 doing when I import the h.264 files and it has me render them? Is this rendering converting them to ProRes ( maybe shows how little I know about rendering)? If so, is it just as easy, if not easier, to go this route, rendering only the portion of each clip I use, rather than converting all whole file to ProRes before I begin?
    Thanks
    John

    Canada John wrote:
So, if I understand you correctly, when I rendered was I converting the H.264 file to ProRes 422?
    Yes.
If so, is this actually a reasonable place and means to convert, versus using Compessor or Log and Transfer (where I admit I couldn't figure out how to convert H.264 to ProRes)
While it will do it, it certainly not a best practice procedure. You need to check each render very carefully and very the entire file when you export that the video and audio from your source files is being correctly rendered - this is mainly a sync issue, more than a quality one. It really is much better to just convert the material prior to editing.
You can look at an application like EditReady, which will bulk convert your source material to ProRes:
    http://www.divergentmedia.com/editready
They have a trial download that will convert the first 60 seconds of files so you can verify the workflow.
The Panasonic GH4 offers two H.264 MOV HD 1080p settings. One is 100 bit and (IPB) GOP. The other is 200 bit and ALL-I. In both cases I was required to render. I suppose in the ALL-I case it was that though a full-frame capture it was not ProRes.
Yes, that's right. The codec did not match. Keep in mind your camera is shooting in a format optimized for acquisition with the highest quality in the smallest possible file size, and that, while great for recording, is not great for editing. That is why Apple went with ProRes. More modern editors like Final Cut Pro X and Premiere Pro rely on the the newer hardware horsepower available now to basically do this conversion in real time on the fly - so you don't need to pre-convert your files.
When I look at the Sequence Settings, besides the information I list above the Aspect Ratio says HDTV 1080i (16:9). There are options for HD (960X72) (16:9), HD (1280X1080) (16:9), HD (1440X1080) (16:9), but no option to choose something like HD 1080p.
The setting for HD 1080i is the one you want. It is appropriate for work in 1080P as well, it is not listed that way because FCP-7 was abandoned by Apple before that was added to the listing - but it is the setting to use.
If rendering is conforming my clip to the Sequence Settings could it possibly also be converting my 1080p to 1080i?
Your sequence is progressive as long as Field Dominace is set to None. If it set to Upper or Lower, then it is interlaced. I you have an editing timebase of either 24 (for film output or the web) or 23.98 (for output to video) the Field Dominance option should be grayed out as there is no interlaced standard for that framerate.

  • Importing a Quicktime H.264 movie into FCP and DVD SP

    Hi,
I am curious why when I import a Quicktime H.264.MOV file into FCP it always makes me render (just the audio) when I place it on the timeline. Also when I try to import it into DVDSP it says that it is an incompatible file.
I know its an odd question, so don't ask me why I am doing it backwards.
Thanks to anyone that can help!
    Gary

    Hi David,
Thanks for your help. These projects are legal video stuff and I usually pause every hour and a half for about 10 minutes. (so I can put each segment on separate DVDs) I am feeding a video signal into a stand alone DVD writer AND into my Mac (I need to make a redundant recordings in case anything goes wrong). The problem with my stand alone DVD writer is to put in accurate chapter markers is a pain. Also it has a rather bland DVD setup menu which looks poor. So basically I am trying to take a video source from my camera and have it do the compression on the fly. I want to write my DVD in DVDSP because it has a ton of formatting options, and chapter markers are much easier to place.
Basically I am looking for the absolute quickest way to write a DVD without having to bring it into Compressor.
    Thanks again for your time!

  • Can I link and lock video and audio tracks - layers - as in Photoshop?

I'd like to link and lock entire clips of video and audio tracks, as I might in Photoshop, so that I can insert some material ahead of this group without having to move each separate tack in my timeline. I have a group of clips which works well together now, and it would be so nice to be able to link them, lock them together as on unit, and just insert the new material into the timeline ahead of this piece. Any ideas?

    alann
What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system?
For now, a generalized Premiere Elements Windows answer.....
You would select all the clips (all at one time) that you want to move together, then Clip Menu/Group.
Or right click anywhere in the selection to bring up the pop up menu including the Group option.
Have you been there and done that yet?
Please supply more information so that we can fine tune the information that you seek.
    Thank you.

Quit - or force quit - Aperture, if it is still trying to transfer MObile Me content.
Then relaunch. When the "Mobile Me has ended" panel appears press the "Learn More" button, not the "o.k." button.
Then you should be able to open the Preferences in Aperture and and open the "Web" panel. Remove "Mobile Me" from the Accounts pane.
Then also open the System preferences > Mobile Me panel and check if you are still signed into Mobile Me.
If this does not work, try to disconnect from the Internet before you launch Aperture again.
