Layering Flash Movies in Dreamweaver

I have one swf in an html page. I have another swf file in a
layer on top of the other with a transparent background. When one
movie overlaps the other, it flashes on and off. Does anyone know
why or how to prevent this?
In IE, the swf file in the layer actually goes below the
movie in the html page.

You could use layers and swap the layers when they click on
the buttons.

  • I cant centre flash movie in dreamweaver

I am currently building my 2nd half flash site http://www.network3000ltd.co.uk/
i am unable to centre the flash movie in dreamweaver
i managed to do it easily in my first site http://www.contemporary-design.co.uk/
im a complete newbie to flash and html as well as css but hopefully someone will have a simple explanation to this
thanks in advance for any assistance

Try using div and centering tags surrounding the Flash embedding code...
    <div align="center">
    <center>
    Flash code
    </center>
    </div>

  • Centering a flash movie within Dreamweaver cs3 on Y axis

I have published a movie in Flash cs3 which has generated an html document however the Flash movie is not automatically centered I have attempted to centrally align the movie within Dreamweaver cs3 by adding:
<center> after the opening body tag and </center> befor the closing body tag
This method has centered on the X axis but not the Y axis
I would have put in a table or a div tag, but when I open the html doc in Dreamweaver I have no visible repressentation of the Flash movie in the design view as I would have if I had created an html document from scratch and draged the movie onto the page, all I can see is the "get flash" hypertext and some other text. I did actually experiment by creating a div tag and dragged my movie into it but ended up with two movies one sitting on top of the other when I ran it in a browser lol.  I'm quite intimdated by code and much prefer to work in the design view (wysiwyg and all that) which is quite restricting.
Any advice for centering on the Y axis would be much apreciated, Thanks in advance, Dave

I don't believe there is code to prevent this from happening
on a client computer. The default is enabled my Microsoft, what
should happen is a yellow bar should appear at the top of the
browser which will allow you view the content.
What might work is to use a program called Zinc by a company
call Multidmedia Limited www.multidmedia.com. Search the site for
samples, one of the samples is a Flash Browser this will run Flash
a browser that you can use. You will need to change the URL a bit
in the Flash code but it's very clear on how to do this.
What this will do is run your web site in a Flash browser I
did a quick test and I did not get any errors. The program will
create an EXE file. I also believe they have a MAC version if you
need one. With a simple "Autorun" call on the CD-ROM you could have
this up and running in not time.
Just be careful of how you call the pages. Since the web site
is not running from a Web server you need to make sure that your
links are local and not Site Root. The best way to test is to
disconnect your computer from your internet and see how it runs.
You want the CD to be self-contained and not have to get content
from the web (your end user may be on a laptop and not connected).
    Good Luck

  • How do I center my flash movie in dreamweaver

    Hi!!
I currently have a behavior assigned to a slice I made in
imageready. In dreamweaver I assigned a pop up browser
    window to it...it will be a link to a flash movie(.swf) I
made, but I don't know how to alter the code to make the browser
window centered on the screen!! Right now it opens on the top of
    the screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance!!

    Thanks Gorka,
I looked it up and found this useful summary:
    http://probertson.com/articles/2006/12/14/deep-linking-flash-application-states/
However, I'm now trying to figure out how write the flahs
vars so it can see what section / folder the page is in so that the
swf knows to play the same frames for both
    swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/pages/hotel/awards.php and
    swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/pages/hotel/guest-comments.php. So
basically it doesn't look at the last bit of the url but the first
bit... I would like the flash vars to be dynamic so that when the
client adds a new subpage in one of the sections the swf will still
    know which frames to play.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Konrad

  • Opening a flash movie in dreamweaver

Hello, I am a professional photographer and I am trying to
open a flash image viewer automatically created in Lightroom using
the airtight image view. The viewer creates a top folder named
simple viewer and two sub folders. one with images and one with
thumbnails. It also creates a javascript file, an index.html,
gallery.xml, and a viewer.swf. I have placed this entire heirarchy
in my assets folder in my dreamweaver web page structure. When I
double click on the swf inside the assets folder of dreamweaver the
viewer works fine. If I drag the swf to an html page I get "simple
viewer gallery not found". I know this is just a structure problem
but I cannot figure out how to fix it. Can anyone point me to
someone that I can call to get some help on how to fix this. I am
    willing to pay consulting fees.
    Thank you
    Jim

<If I drag the swf to an html page I get "simple viewer

DW is not a drag and drop application.
    1) Keep it simple. Keep the 'Simple Viewer' folder in the
    root directory of
your local site because that's how the thing was put
    together. When you
move folders into other folders, you complicate matters.
    2) I think for this purpose, it would be OK for you to use an
    iframe to call
the 'Simple Viewer' index.html into your site page.

  • Inserting a Flash Movie with Dreamweaver

I'm trying to insert a .swf file into my html using
Dreamweaver8. I go to inset-media-flash video, browse to my file
enter the width and height and click ok, and I receive this warning
everytime: "The URL cannot contain spaces or specal charaters.
Change hte path or file name and try again." The file is located in
my main directory of the website, and the file is titled

Also, This file is a television commercial buit in avid and
compressed in squeeze, but I don't have the .flv file, only a .swf
    file.
Is there a way to convert my .swf to .flv, or is there a way
to add a skin to my .swf file so that I have the movie controls
    (play/pause, stop)?

  • Flash movie dreamweaver 8 import.

Hi. I made a flash logo for my website. I import the flash
movie in dreamweaver 8 and resize it (actually 923 width and 119
height). The problem is that there is a blank rectangle above and
under the flash logo-obviously the blank flash stage. In flash i
made the logo in the centre of the stage. How can i delete the
blank spaces of the stage and keep my logo and import it to

The movie has to be design with scaling in mind to maintain
    ratios.
Scale it in flash and export the 1:1 size so you don't need
    to do it in DW

  • Centering flash movie top and bottom in dreamweaver?

Hi all, I'm a novice user of dreamweaver.
I've placed a flash movie in dreamweaver and centered it left
and right but how can I center it top and bottom so it
    floats?

Not too sure what you mean exactly by "so it floats." But
    I'll hazard a
guess that you want your video to appear inside a
    semi-transparent lightbox
that appears to float over the page content beneath it. If
    so, have a look
    at FloatBox.

  • Flash Movie Keeps reloading in DreamWeaver

    Hi,
I am not sure if this is a question for the Flash Forum or the Dreamweaver forum.
I  have a flash movie which runs in the header of my website when you  first visit it. This is good. But if you go to another page on the site  and then return to the home page the animation runs again (I guess  because it is reloaded as the page reloads itself). I don't like this  and don't want it to run each time someone returns to the home page,  except of course when they first visit the site.
How do I get it to play only once, when first visiting the site?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Its only on my computer at present.

  • Dreamweaver preview and flash movie

    Greetings All,
Im sure this question has been answeredmany times but i cant seem to find any solutions. Here it is:
    - In dreamweaver I add an .flv file to play on my web page.
    - When previewing from dreamweaver into Firefox or Safari the movie shows up and plays just fine
    - The entire site is uploaded to my FTP ( hosted by godaddy ) and when I check the page the movie is gone. If I right click on the are where the    movie is supposed to be, it says "movie not loaded"
I have tried almost everything I can think of. This site is for a client and I could really use any help. here is the link to the page. If someone out there can help and needs more than the link supplied, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance, Jay

Is that code something which i missed in dreamweaver. i added a flash movie and did everything that was asked in the pop up. this is above my ability and i am trying to help out a friend. if its not an easy fix, would you be willing to fix it for a fee? please let me know as his boss is applying pressure to get it up and functioning properly.

  • Dreamweaver embedded flash movie - Safari problem

I have 3 flash movies embedded on a page using dreamweaver. Firefox plays either of the 3 no problem, Safari Only plays the first one.
I am using the Clear Skin 2 Controller. The ID tags I'm using are FLVPlayer1,2,3... JS script folder is uploaded and contains the AC_Active scripts.
Obviously I'd like to get this to work in Safari. Any thoughts???
    Thanks

From the reading I've been doing since posting this, I am beginning to think this is either a QuickTime plugin or flash plugin problem with Safari. I am running osx 10.5.6 and Safari 3.2.1 - I was hoping for an easy page code fix.

I don't see any html table related tags in your posted

page source-Perhaps you found an acceptable solution--your

  • Editable regions and Flash movie

    Hi,
I am trying to insert a flash movie into an editable region
of a child page, but I keep getting the following error: "Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator. The change will be discarded."
I have read previous posts about the same issue, but none of
them answers my question. I tried creating a new template and a
child from it as a test deleting the css links (like some one
suggested to do) to try to identify the troubled css and I kept
getting the same error in the new pages. I hope someone can help to
identify the issue and the solution. The region where I want to
insert the movie is called "FinalMainContent."

  • Layout page with flash movie on top

I want to have the index page for my site open with a flash
movie on top of the rest of the content of the page at a set pixel
distance from the top of the page and centered horizontally in
relation to the browser. I have been able to make this work with an
absolute location using CSS elements in Dreamweaver and the
equivalent of what used to be layers. It all works as long as the
position of the layer is absolute, and your monitor settings are
pretty standard. Otherwise the flash plays on the left:
    http://www.iconoclastic.net/metaphordogs/index.html
When I try to make it a relative location, it moves to the
top of the browser. When I try to make it relative to a table, it
displaces the table content rather than playing over it.
    Any assistance would be appreciated
    Alec

The standard solution is to set wmode="transparent" and <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> in your embed/object html, but that only helps to fix the problem in win/IE. The problem has been there on Adobe's own home page for years. If you're unlucky enough to use a Mac there's no effective solution for this problem.
