Layering photos...help please!
hi,
i am trying to layer photos to create a collage effect (using a blank page not the preset collages). i know it can be done as I have done it before, but i just cant remember how to set the photos as layers! When im clicking on 'new layer' it is not giving me the option to select photos???
Please help!
P.S im not very computery so please explain using the easiest instructions you can!

That's how layers works! The checkered backgrounds indicate transparency which is normal and which is what you want since you will probably be resizing the individual pictures. You want separate layers so that you can arrange the pictures in the collage. When you print the result all the pictures will appear placed on the background layer, as if you had flattened all the layers into one.

The camera roll is not part of the sync process at all.
You should be importing these photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Youc an organize them on your computer and sync the to the iphone if you wish.
The photos sync from the computer to the iphone is one way.
The iphone mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced. -
Please forgive me if this is a stupid question...newbie here. Yesterday, I loaded 400 pictures on my ipod so family could see my honeymoon photos. I then went back later to add pics of my wedding and when I did...I lost the original 400 I loaded. I was like the last ones loaded over the top of the original 400. Is that the way that it works? So, everytime I load pictures...I also have to save the original ones and load them again with any new ones I want to add? Does it work the same for music too? So confused!

Sounds as though you created another folder and then synced to that,which then erased your previous content on the pod.
Whatever folder you have your latest photo's in,add the 400 to it and re-sync.This will get all the images on the Pod.Whenever you add or remove images to this folder and re-sync that is what you will have on your Pod.

I have received a few rare documents that have a layer which does not behave or display like my experience says it should. The layer is a very complex object, like a brand logo, but no sub layers or objects display for it. I can select individual pieces of the layer and move them about like independent objects, but the selection is still on the layer. I've tried using both "Release to Layers" commands but have had no success.What do you see if you go to the layers palette flyout menu>Palette options? Does it have Show Layers Only toggled on? Or are there other settings that make individual objects invisible? If so, change them.

Aperture and iPhoto Duplicate Photos - Help Please
Hi,
I've recently moved to Mac OS from a PC and in doing so copied over all the photos from my PC and backup drives, flash drives etc with the intention of clearing them all up using iPhoto (or Aperture which I have just purchased from the App Store). There are A LOT of duplicates in the library now.
I realise after reading some of the posts here that I may have made a terrible mistake as I thought I would be able to easily organise my photos and delete duplicates which are taking up valuable disk space (I have almost 30,000 photos including the dupes).
I've read through a lot of the posts here and it seems most of these photos will now have been duplicated again by iPhoto and that there's not a simple solution to get rid of all the original dupes to free up some disk space.
Can anyone offer some help (bearing in mind I am fairly new to my Mac).

PaulFor a quick solution to weed out the duplicates that iPhoto created you could use the keywords that Aperture sets on the originals and duplicates during the import. Have a look at the keywords in the Metadata Inspector panel. The exact name of the keyword depends somewhat on the image format that you import.
In my library I see the keywords: iPhoto Original, iPhoto Externally Edited,iPhoto Converted, iPhoto.
If you just want to keep the originals, that you imported into iPhoto and get rid of all the other versions, do the following:
- create a smart album "keep" by defining
keywords include any of the following: "iPhoto Original"
(and optionally "iPhoto Externally Edited", if you want to keep your edits)
- create a smart album "delete" by defining
keywords do not include any of the following: "iPhoto Original"
(and optionally "iPhoto Externally Edited", if you want to keep your edits)
Then select all of your pictures in "keep" and flag them,
select all of your pictures in "delete" and reject them,
open the "rejected" album and have a look, if it contains any flagged pictures, if not, trash the rejected pictures.
That should take care of plenty of your duplicates.

pc Windows XP 8gig hdClick on your iPod on the menu to the left then if you will look toward the top center you will see tabs that say summary - music - podcasts - photos - contacts. Go to photos and set up what folders you would like to sync with your iPod.

Hi, I just got the 3GS. It's my first ever iPhone. Love it too.
My friend told me to use iTunes to get all my photos from my old phone to my iPhone.
Do I HAVE to keep the pictures in Itunes in order to keep them on the phone?
Because I have some "pics" of my girlfriend and I'm not the only user on this computer.
ThanksiTunes doesn't store photos, but iTunes handles the transfer of selected photos stored on your computer's hard drive to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process.
This is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If you select a folder of photos to be transferred to your iPhone and remove the selected folder or any photos within the folder from your computer's hard drive, the photos will be deleted from your iPhone with the next sync. -
How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear. Help please!
As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message. -
My Mac Book Pro was really slow at everything and would kick me out of my photos every time i got on them. now it won't even allow me to log on. i put my password in and the screen will flash white and go back to the login page. HELP please...
There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
The issue your having is with the way Keynote takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on either display, use application switcher:
press the the command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command > tab to return to Keynote. -
I need to export a photo at around 1meg file size,and dont seem to be able to do it in the presets can anyone help please ,I shoot on a canon 5d

Until he returns, I can tell you that I ran a quick test using an image from the Aperture 3 training book library which was as follows:
Camera = Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Master resolution = 5616 x 3744 (21 MP)
I was able to export to a JPEG with end file size of 1 MB as follows:
Export Presets drop-down > select 'Edit' option
Selected preset name 'JPEG - 50% of Original Size' > change percentage value to 40% > change DPI value to '300' > click OK to set as current default > Export version to desktop.
The exported JPEG has a resolution of 2246 x 1498 and appears on screen to have the same image quality of the original in Aperture.
Note - I did not change the default Image Quality slider in the Export Preset dialog (which left it at 10).
Basically, you will need to play around with the settings until you find the appropriate values to arrive at an image version you want. -
My kids now each have an itouch, should we all have different apple ids even if I am paying for all itunes and app store purchases? what about icloud? I would like to share itunes and app purchases, but not necessarily photos...help please!
The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud. With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated. There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

i just recently last month got a new itouch 5th generation ipod touch...recently after i had bought it, i noticed that i can't take self photos on my camera...if i am on the regular app taking a regular shot and try to switch it, it just freezes on me and i cant get it back to normal at all...ill have to restart it and leave it off for a day in order for it to work again....i really need help please in order to figure out what to do and if i should just bring it to apple!

When exporting photo to my pictures folder it shows up as a soft color & no photo..Please help
When exporting my edited pictures to a folder in m Pictures it goes as a blank soft color but no photo. It looks like a tiny dot and when you open it, it is a soft color.. Please help!
I am trying to send as attachement. I have tried to screen shot but must not have a clue how to! Is there a number someone can walk me through this.. or if you could tell me how to screen shot it. I am trying the print screen but not working. I have never done on a computer before. My system is Dell Pentium Dual Core [email protected] 4.00GB 64 Bit Windows Vista. I tried to download a trial of LR4 so I could get some work done until prob fixed but it tells me my system not compatible. I am thinking of creative cloud but will this work with my system. I use LR for 100% of my editing but have been doing other things (newborns) where I feel I need CS6. If you could let me know what I need to do to run the new LR and CS6 that would be great. I had all photos on a Windows desktop. Got a mac laptop, installed LR5, and put all images from Windows onto an external hard drive. When I go to import them into LR on the mac, they are all locked. Help, please!

Yes, that's exactly what happened. If you buy another drive, you could copy from your existing drive to the new and your files will be read/write. The new drive will have to be formatted as an HFS drive (that's the Mac's format). If you need to format it, you use Disk Utility which is in the Utilities folder on your Mac. Be careful with that -- it wipes out whatever is currently on the drive. Make sure you format the right drive.
I keep all my images on an external drive, too. In fact, I have two matching drives and sync them so I always have a backup. -
I moved all my photos from iphoto to an external hard drive, but I am still getting the "low space message" when I try to upload more photos to iphoto.
How do I free up the disk space in iphoto?

Help please!Have you told iPhoto about the new location? If you haven't then iPhoto is ignoring it and continuing to use the original one. If you have completely transferred the library to the external hdd then you can delete the one on your internal one, but make sure that the one on your external drive is complete and has the iPhoto library icon on it. Whatever you do, don't lose your photos!
