Layering two EXS 24 instruments? (And using plug-in settings as 'waveforms)

i'm beginning to think redmatica keymap is my only hope 'coz i keep running into issues with exs24, it just does not seem to do what i want
i'm told on page 393 of the logic 8 manual that plug-in settings can be used as templates to load sampler instruments into, like 'waveforms', no such luck here, am i missing a trick?
also, is there not a simple way of creating a layer of two seperate instruments on exs, i can't work this one out either (doh)

1. Open the Environment Window (Mixer layer) and create a new Standard Instrument from the "New" menu above.
2. Select this Instrument object and set its port to "No Port" in the Inspector.
3. Cable the Instrument object to both Software Instruments you want to layer ( patch a separate cable to each instance ).
4. Create an Arrange track for the new Instrument object, select it and record/play.

Receiver File adapter : two choices "Directly" and "Use Temporarly file" ?

Hi All,
I am writing the file into a folder and I want to write the file completely into the folder.Once the file is placed , one tool will be keep on picking files every second from this folder.So I need to put the file after filling entire data.
In the File adapter, the put file option has two choices "Directly" and "Use Temporarly file".
"Directly" option will serve my purpose?
Which option I need to keep for Empty-Message Handling "Write Empty file" or "Ignore"?

Mozila Firefox is always asking me to click to activate and use plug-ins like Adobe Reader, Flash, Youtube videos and other plug-ins which it never did before.

I am using Mozilla Firefox and it is now bugging me. After updating it, it is now asking me to always click to activate and use plug-ins like Adobe Reader, Flash, Youtube videosand other plug-ins. I click on activiate all plug-ins but it still asks me to do it each time that I try to use Flash, Adobe Reader, watch a You Tube Video or anything. Why won't Mozilla Firefox automatically actaivate the plug-ins like it used to do. I tried to follow directions on our website for fixing this but it did not work. I am running

In the past, to protect you from [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/use-plugins-play-audio-video-games plugins] that have stability or security issues, Firefox could only turn off the problematic plugin. Now Firefox can prevent the plugin from running automatically (which prevents many issues) and then let you choose to run or update the plugin. Two very different results using the same settings (H.264 / Quicktime Pro)

I’m a bit confused, I have used Quicktime Pro (v7.1) to encode DV into H.264 for iPod and this particular video is 18 minutes long and came out looking very good with the following settings;
VIDEO: H.264 at 200kbps, Baseline Profile, 25fps, Auto Key Frames, 320x240 or 640x480, Multipass Best quality encoding.
AUDIO: AAC Audio at 96kbps, 24kHz sampling freq, Stereo.
However here is the twist…
When I use the same exact settings to encode just the 30 second opener (from the 18 minute video) the encoded opener looks bad and blocky!
Why? Same settings would make you assume that you should get a same or similar result, or am I wrong?
The reason I have tried encoding this 30 second opener is that I am trying to work out which settings work best on the iPod (another issue) and I don’t want to spend hours test encoding the full 18 minute video, as you know H.264 is SLOW to encode!
So can anyone help in regard to two very different results using the same settings?

Is it a commercially-released or home-burned CD?
If it's commercially-released, try "encouraging" the recalcitrant computer by using the iTunes Advanced menu > Get CD Track Names command when it shows Audio CD.
If it's home-burned, you will find that only the computer that actually burned the disc will know what's on it. The information won't be transferred to another computer.
Let us know which, if either, of these situations applies to you.

Having two LR catalogues and using an external hard drive?

I use LR as my primary image storage/editing application and have gathered about 250 gb worth of photos on my macbook pro internal drive. I need to transfer everything to an extenral hard drive and just edit the images from there, but have a question about this workflow. Specifically, would it be possible to maintain two lightroom catalogues: one on the drive, and one on my laptop? All of the images would ultimately be on the external HD, but if I'm on location/etc where I don't have access to the drive, I'd like to option to always be able to upload the images to my laptop and then move them to my main catalogue on the external HD at a later time.
Also: would formatting said external HD as FAT32 be a good idea if I ever plan on viewing/editing them on a windows machine?
Any way, is this a reasonable workflow? Any suggestions regarding this or working from an external HD in general?

Yes and/or no.
You can use two catalogs (1 on Laptop and 1 on External HD). Transferring files and data is not difficult once you know how. So it a question of comfort level.
If working on both platforms is something that you plan to do on a regular basis then you may simply want to put the catalog and its associated preview files in a Dropbox folder. Install Dropbox on both machines and the catalogs will be in sync on both machines. This eliminates the exporting and import from another catalog.

Personally I use it to store my presets so when I create a new preset on the road, its available on my home machines.

Connecting two Mac minis and using one monitor

I am thinking about getting two Mac minis to run concurrently, accessing both on the same Thunderbolt Display (also to be acquired) using screen sharing and connecting the two Macs via firewire (or thunderbolt).
I have certain programs I need to run in Windows (Bloomberg terminal and MS Excel in Windows version) but don't want to run them in parallel on one computer as (in my experience) the performance is very slow.
By running two computers at the same time, I'm hoping that can avoid the entire system griding to a halt. I also think it will allow me to upgrade more cheaply as the Mac mini is improved over time.
Is this a completely daft idea? Would I be better off with a new iMac or a refurbish Mac Pro?
Any feedback is welcome, even of the abusive variety.

"File sharing preferences" is indeed how to do it. Connect both minis to your router (one by ethernet cable, one by wifi, it doesn't matter.)
Then turn on "File Sharing" in Sharing Prefs on both minis. Also, give them both meaningful, different names under "Computer Name".
Then, when you open a finder window on one mini, the other one should appear under "Shared", like this:

Can't open a new tab in version 30.0 on my mac. I have no add-ons and use the default settings.

I tried removing any extensions (only had one), and am already using the default page settings. This occurred RIGHT after I upgraded to the newest version- 30.0. I don't have any add-ons either. So since this happened with your newest version and seems like a ton of people are having the same problem, it says to me that FIREFOX needs to find the cause, not lay it on us to figure a round-a-bout.
Also , I've had a problem that the tabs keeping reloading a ton of OLD tabs every time I restart or open a new window. The same ones, like 30 of them! Tried deleting cache, didn't work. ?

Does it take it from Internet Explorer?

Can you import software instruments and plug-ins from Logic Pro to GB

Hello,
I purchased Logic 7 Pro and I find it to be way too much for me. Is there a way to take the software instruments from Logic to GB? I am not even sure Logic comes with more software instruments than GB. Do they both rely on the Jam Packs for additional instruments.
Is there anything else GB can borrow from Logic. I know I can move the sound effects aif files and use them. Just wondering about other plug-ins and the like.

Here's how you get past the static interruption.
Make your software track and ignore the static interruption. Its not being recorded into the midi information.
Then export the track out and reimport it to a new track. Do this twice. Your export/import WILL have static in it but since it was random your two tracks will not have the static in identical places.
Edit out the static in track one by replacing it with a static-less portion from track two. You'll now have a complete loop with no static interruption.
xs4sis. The cool thing about the demos is you don't have to program anything just use the presets. Who CAN program those **** synths anyway?
There are some demos that have a hundred presets to them. I love that!

I have had issues with this problem before, and have spent a few hours looking throughout the many related threads on this forum and on Logic Pro Help without finding a workable solution. So I will jump in again and hope for someone to shed some light on this.
Here is the scenario- I have two rigs, one in my studio and another on my laptop (2.5 gh Intel core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM). I have a duplicate of my sample library on a portable drive, which I take with me when I'm using my laptop. I recently copied a Project I'm working on from the portable drive to my main system. When I open the project, I get a message telling me that certain (not all) EXS files are not found.
Some further pertinent info:
I have not saved the EXS files with the project- the project uses a sizable template and that would be cumbersome.
All of the EXS instruments/samples in the Project are there on both my internal sample drive and the portable drive.
The aliases linking my Application support Logic folder and the sample drive are correct and in place.
This happens whether I have the portable drive mounted on my main rig or not. And whether I open the Project from the portable drive or from the copy on the internal drive.
I have reindexed the internal sample drive with Spotlight. Didn't help.
I have refreshed the Instrument menu from within EXS. Didn't seem to do anything.
Anyone?

Can I put my library on an external hard drive and use it between two computers? I have two MBP; I will refer to one as computer A and to the other as computer B. I would like to be able to plug in my external hard drive, boot up iTunes, and if there were any changes made to the library previous to its last time accessed on this compluter, they show up on that computer, regardless of being imported on the other.
A hypothetical example: I import three albums called 1, 2, and 3 on computer A over a week or so. I take the external hard drive and plug it into computer B. The entire library which was visible on A, is visible on B, including albums 1, 2, and 3.
Is this possible? If so, what files need to be copied onto the external? I'm trying some different combinations, trial and error basically. Hopefully someone knows and can answer before I mess up my library. I also want to do this to free up space on my computer. All importing will be done from disc.

iTunes/Preferences/Advanced : point your iTunes to the new location of the Library.
Set "Share on local network" in the Sharing tab, and you or everyone on the local network can play your music.
You make a backup first of the Library.
Move the follwing to the new location:
/Users/your username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music

I think you want to get the latitude and longitude information of client accessing the web application. In the web application you cannot directly get the client location information as the nature of the web application is different from windows applications.
