Layers in Animated Gif Question...

Been going crazy all night
I'm trying to create an animated gif. I made a BG image that I want the video to go on top of. The video is 136 frames (layers). I duplicated the BG image 136 times and pasted the videos 136 layers on top of the BG image.. Here is my problem.. I need to move the video frames (136 of them) onthe background so it lines up better... How do I move them all at once. Meaning if I move the frame on layer 1, the frames will move on EVERY layer. There has to be a way to move them so they all move to the same location at once. There is no way I could move each one separately and get them in the exact same location...
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks in advance...
GT

Sorry... Using PS CS4 Extended.. Not sure what you mean by click the purple icon and then the red button.... I know it will be a bit choppy, but that is alright for this project.... I know with imageready (in the past) you could drag the image and it would move the image in every frame.... There has to be a way to move the image on layer one so that the image will move to the exact spot in each layer..... Atleast, I hope there is.. Thanks for getting back to me

Subject: Layers in Animated Gif Question...
Click the purple icon and then click the red button. Click the OK box below it if you like the result.
It would help to know what program you are using and it might help to post in that program's forum.
Beware that you are grossly abusing the GIF format. It is not intended for video. You could experience choppy playback and/or a lousy color palette.

I just want to be able to move the video layers to a new location compared to where they are when I paste them on the BG...
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Thanks in advance...

    Edit: Using PS CS4 extended

well, when I use to use imageready, I would have to duplicated the BG for each frame of the video...
What would be the best way to do this then,,,
I have an animated gif that is 136 frames ..
I want to put it on a BG I  made in PS.... When I copy and paste all the frames (via the animation palette select all) onto the new bG the image is not centered on the BG I made... I want to move each frame to a new location on the BG... How would I go about doing that?
Sorry if I'm not explaining it clearly... I'm trying..LOL
    Thanks for the reply..>GT

  • Maximum Number of Layers for Animated GIFs

Hi,  What's the maximum number of laters that can be used in animated GIFs made with PSE8 and PSE9?  Using Windows XP

The smaller the document size the more layers you can animate.
Have no idea what the limits are.

  • Simple animated gif question

    Hello all-
When exporting an animated gif, the speed of the gif is
slower than what I'm seeing in the export wizard or the original
screen. The gif has 18 frames and is only 17 kb when exported, so
not a big file. I've read everything I can find and even tried
stripping the gif down to just the moving pieces (about 8kb) and it
    still runs slow. Please help.
    Thanks!

find that topic in the Help index.
Open up the Frames panel and to the right of the frame names
    you will
see a number - probably 7. This is the frame duration, in
    100's of a
second. Increase the number to slow down the animation,
    decrease the
number to speed it up. Make sure you view it in a web
    browser, as FW's
animation display may not be accurate. Or perhaps,
    considering bandwidth
and web traffic, FW's display rate may be too "ideal". ;-)

  • ANIMATIONS (.GIF FILES) AND LAYERS

    1. I HAVE PSE7 AND I CAN'T SEEM TO GET ANY ANIMATIONS TO WORK. IF I OPEN AN ANIMATED (.GIF) FILE, IT IS NO LONGER ANIMATED. DO I HAVE TO PUT IT ON A SPECIAL LAYER TYPE? WHEN I OPEN ONE OF THESE FILES, PSE7 CREATES 3 LAYERS FOR THE IMAGE, NONE OF THEM ANIMATED. WHEN I COMBINE THE LAYERS SO I HAVE ONE LAYER WITH THE IMAGE, IT ASKS IF I WANT TO DELETE THE HIDDEN OR EMPTY LAYERS, CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH.
    2. WHAT IS AN INDEX LAYER? WHEN I OPENED ONE OF MY FILES, IT CAME IN AS AN INDEX LAYER AND I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT.
I'M RUNNING WINDOWS XP PRO SP2.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME.

    GIF does not support layers.
Animated GIF files may open as layers into Photoshop. You need to save them again as an animated GIF file after manipulating them in the animation panel. The 'Save for Web' function would be most ideal.

  • Load/import images into layers to create animated gif in PE4

I'm trying to make an animated gif using Photoshop Elements 4.0.
I have numerous images (photos) that I need to insert into separate frames of one image.
(photo1, photo2 ..... photo10 - all combined in layers to create the frames of the animated gif)
I can open each photo separately, copy it, go the the animated gif image, create a new layer, and paste the image into the layer to create a frame in the animated gif.  This is very time consuming.
Does Elements 4.0 allow for just opening/importing the separate images (photos) into the layers (frames) of the gif direclty?  I remember having software that came with Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 in 2000 that made this simple and straight forward.

We are not the right people to ask.  The Touch forum (for tablet) is at
    Adobe Photoshop Touch for tablet
There's a long list f video tutorials here, but I can't see anything about animation

  • Animated Gif's - Applying Clone Stamp to all layers

I have some animated gif's and I want to clone a
section of all layers that compose it. I have PS2 and PS4. PS2 allows me to open and sample all layers of the GIF but wont let me apply the clone to more than one layer at a time, PS4 wont let me open anymore than the first layer. Is there a solution for this. If not is there anything in Image Ready or Fireworks that will?

Window --> Animation, frame mode. Select all frames and while selected, do the cloning or whatever.

  • ANIMATED GIF IN A LAYERED PHOTOSHOP FILE

I created a photoshop file with text and background layers.  The client wants me to place an animated GIF in the center of the file.
How do I get all but 3 layers which comprise the animated GIF to not go into the animated gif timeline on the bottom of the screen.  I can only get this to work by turning off all the text and background layers.  I need the timeline to just have 3 layers in it and only those layers move.
    Thanks

If you only want the center region to be animated, you need to splice it out to its separate file and re-assemble the whole shebang later
Or you could just change the center part and export the whole thing as an animated gif. If you have 3 frames and you only want the center piece to change, leave the background on all 3 frames but have a different center on each of the frames. Whole thing will be animated but will only look like the middle is changing.

  • Animated Gif - Aligning Multiple layers

    Hi All
I am creating a rotating animated gif in PS. Now I have about 37 layers, where I increment the angle of each layer with 10 degress relative to the previous one. But even when aligning all my layers with the aligning tools the layers still not align...How can I align them perfectly? See what I mean on the image below here:
NOTE: If the gif here does not animate, see this link:
You can see it is off-center

    DexterDave wrote:
@JJMack. I am not sure how to rotate the layer without the older frame copying the new rotated position...that is why I used copies of layers
You do copy the layer and rotate. The layer needs to be perfectly aligned to the center of a is square 1:1 aspect ratio canvas. Guide lines were added 50% Horizontal and Vertically three were added a 49%, 50% and 51%. Then using the elliptical tool set to path mode a circle path was drawn by holding down the Alt key so the path would be from the center and holding the shift key down so the ellipse would be constrain to a circle. You click at the 50% 50% crossed guide line which the mouse pointer snaps to and you drag out the first otter circle.  You then set the path mode to subtract and drag out the inner circle.  Your path is now a ring. Then switch you the rectangle tool and subtract a rectangle path using the 49% and 51% guide lines. Your Path is now two arcs. Create two filled Shape layers the colors in the ring delete 1/2 of the layer so you have two colored arcs. Rastersize the two and merge the two layers int one.  You now have you arcs aligned from the center.  Next the action its simple dupe the layer rotate the layer 10 degrees select previous layer turn off visibility select layer forward.  Play this action till you the required 36 ring layers. Create a frame animation have Photoshop make frames from the layers using the frame animation palette's fly-out option.  Delete the first IK frames and turn on the IK layer visibility in what in now the first frame. It will turn on in all frames. You the save for web the animated gif. PSD file http://mouseprints.net/old/dpr/ik.psd  also tried using a smart object ring layer to loose less quality rotating the layer however there seem to be movement in the rotation.  Photoshop may be having a problem dealing wit the transparency in the layer and the break in the circle. http://mouseprints.net/old/dpr/ikso.psd so then I put all the ring layers into a group and masked the group with a vector mask. http://mouseprints.net/old/dpr/iksomask.psd  the best tool you have when using Photoshop is the gray matter between your ears let it do its thing it may even surprise you sometimes.

  • Adjustment layers not 'sticking' on animated GIFs

I'm trying to adjust brightness/contrast and saturation over about 30 layers on an animated GIF. Everything looks great until I do a save for web and click on the animate box. At that point, the color/changes drop off completely. It shows up fine when it's just the one layer being shown. And it seems to be showing up on all the layers when I'm in the main edit window. I keep looking and making sure I have the 'this adjustment affects all layers below,' and I do. I even tried saving a GIF with the other setting turned on and I got the same thing.
Anyway, I exported a few GIFs, thinking maybe the adjustment layers would kick in as it saved, but nope. Neither layer saved into the exported GIF.
I'm sure this is just a simple setting I'm missing, but I'm banging my head against the desk at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm still trying my best to sort out why the adjustment layers drop off when I go to animate the GIF ... BUT I did duplicate the adjustment layers -- one for each frame -- and then clicked on the adjustment layers and selected layer and merged them one at a time and it worked. It's still more tedious than I hoped, but not as tedious as trying to adjust each layer on its own and having to input the same exact settings for each layer.
I would still be interested in anyone else's take/advice on applying adjustments to all the layers in an image at the same time and having it cary through to 'save for web.' Animated GIFs are so simple in theory, but I'm finding them to be absolutely one of  the most frustrating and tedious things to try and edit/create.

  • Animated gif layered above background image

I have a static background image which is displayed in a JPanel. I need to display animated gifs at certain positions on the base image. For every new frame of the animation, the paint method is called whcih attempts to load the entire base image + all the new animated images which is extremely slow!. It also means the animated gif keeps on getting loaded, and seldom gets beyond the first frame.
Im sure many people have had to do something like this. Is the solution to draw the gifs on the glasspane (or use layered panes), and to have a seperate paint method? or is their a simple approach like setting a special clip area.

    thanks for the help...
The size of the background image is approx 400*400 pixels (gif or jpg), and the icons are 25*25, and have between 1 and 6 frames.
Here comes the code... I havent finished with the mediatracker stuff, but youll get the idea Im sure.

            int width = DataDefinition.getSize(dm.getIconType(ICON_ID)).width;
            int height = DataDefinition.getSize(dm.getIconType(ICON_ID)).height;

            g.drawImage(img, p.x, p.y, p.x+width, p.y+height, 0,0,img.getWidth(this),img.getHeight(this),this);

  • Splash page with animated gif only question

    Hello all:
    I have a splash page (index.html) that is designed using an animated gif created in photoshop. The rest of my site is Css/XHTML, but has some divs containing animated gifs. I have two questions;
1: By using only the animated gif on the splash page, am I limiting or hindering my SEO (google, microsoft, yahoo) ranking opportunities as there is no "content" on the page that the spiders/bots can see? I went ahead and included some "content" but hid it by coloring the type the same as the background color hoping that might do something, but obviously I'm a SEO newbie so any suggestions are more than welcomed. I will include the code at the end of this post, and my site is: http://reynolds-marketing.com.
    2. Is there a way to pre-load the animated gifs on my pages so that they play more smoothly and efficiently?
TIA for any of your help. Murman

My guess is yes, but that is just my opinion.  I believe the text/background same color idea was really in vogue back in the late 90's and we all heard that it was the kiss of death for SEO that the SE's hated them so much you got de-listed, not sure if that is a fact or not.
My bigger concern would be how many people you are losing by making them wait to get to where they want to go.  I have told many a client that in some sense, the interent is too big, you have too much competition and people have thin patience for things like splash pages.  The ooo and aaa effect of animated gifs is long dead...again, in my opinion.

  • How do I make an animated gif from 2 layers in photoshop CC

I have a Photoshop (CC) file with 2 layers, I want to make an animated gif...I can find no way of getting the layers into the timeline. There used to be a command to import layers into frames... but I cannot find it

Thank you for getting back to me on this.
The timeline is showing and set to "Create Frame Animation" but I can find nothing in the popup window (enabled or not) that will do it.  There used to be a drag and drop way to do this in older photoshops...  I have googled and searched everything I can think of... but can't find anything that works.

  • Question on Animated GIF Timing

I have a weather-type animated GIF, and believe me, it is not
    my choice or
idea, but anyway I need to get this working.
    Here it is:
    http://www.sendto.org/temp/weather-cvia.gif.
In this animation, all the frames are set to 100 but the
    timing is not
smooth. No idea why. When I change frame 2 to 50, the timing
    seems to me
to be closer to even, but it makes no sense to cut the time
    on frame 2 to
have all frames display for equal time. Is anyone else seeing
    this?
    The source file is here:
    http://www.sendto.org/temp/weather-cvia.png
    Many thanks,
    Tony

    Hi Anthony:
Are you testing the playback in a browser? The FW playback -
    at one time
anyway - was not a reliable method for previewing.
Have you checked to make sure there are not several frames
    identical to
frame 2 in the animation? That too would give the impression
    that frame
    2 is staying up longer.
