Layers keeps unchecking itself

New install of PS CS4 on New machine running Windows 7 Home Premium.
When I am working, somehow layers just gets unclicked.  When I do my normal stuff, like flatten the layer, when I am done editing, layers sometimes disappear, not always, but much of the time.
It also puts up this other palette that I've unchecked sometimes as well and it keeps bringing up this window called adjustments that  I keep closing it out.
Any suggestions?

Windows 7 has a built in problem step recorder. Type in the start area PSR and record what you are doing. Trying to find someone at Microsoft or Adobe to address the issue is another story. But least they will know there is a issue.
Here is a link about the PSR. Pretty awesome software.

  • The "Always show tab bar" setting keeps unchecking itself.

I'm using Firefox 4 on multiple machines all running windows 7 and synchronized with built in Sync and one instance on Android. I've noticed sometimes when closing all but the last tab that no tabs show in the tab bar (which is on top, I like that!). I go into "options" - "tabs" and see that "always show tab bar" is unchecked. I check it and get back to daily routines, only few days later the same thing happens again. By the way, I've noticed the same on my girlfriend's computer, also running windows 7, but not synchronized to any other computers. It's not a disaster, just annoying when it happens- as if someone sneaked in and changed my settings. Please help. Thanks.

First check to make sure that an add-on is not interfering with behavior, to do that follow the procedure in the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.
If it is not caused by an add-on, as a test you can create a new profile. Firefox stores user data and in profiles, creating a new profile will confirm if there is a problem with your current profile. See [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows]. If the new profile works, you can [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox transfer data and settings to the new profile]. It is best not to copy he preferences file (prefs.js) to the new profile as a setting stored in it may be causing the problem.

  • Notes in the iCloud preferences pane keeps unchecking itself

Notes syncing between my Mac and my iPod Touch is rather faulty. Sometimes a note will be duplicated and the two copies will be slightly different, and my iPod Touch can see both copies but my Mac can only see one; odd stuff. I checked System Preferences>iCloud and surprisingly found that Notes was unchecked, even though I could swear it was checked earlier. A day or two later, I checked again and Notes was unchecked again. Today, the same thing has happened again. Does anyone know what's happening?

I believe this issue has been resolved in OS X Mavericks.

  • Checkbox keeps unchecking itself

I've worked out how to add a surcharge to a total price once a 'credit card payment' checkbox is checked using the Javascript below:
    Credit Card Surcharge Calulation
    var cSubTotal = "Subtotal";
    var cTaxRate = "Credit Card Surcharge";
    var cbSurcharge = "cbCredit Card Payment";
    event.value = this.getField(cSubTotal).value * this.getField(cTaxRate).value;
// if surcharge check box is checked then charge surcharge
    if(this.getField(cbSurcharge).value = "Off") event.value = 0;
    if(this.getField(cbSurcharge).value != "Off") event.value = this.getField(cSubTotal).value;
It works very well when calculating, and the one checkbox activates prices over several pages. But I know the script won't be perfect as I found it online somewhere and adapted it to my needs.
However, this one checkbox seems to be the only one in the document that de-checks itself whenever a change is made to the form.
    ie:
    - user completes the order form
    - user checks the 'credit card payment' box
    - selects amex/visa etc. <-- and when this is done, the 'credit card payment' box de-checks (and changes the price again).
It actually happens whenever anything is changed, text boxes, radio buttons etc.
No other checkbox in the document does this.
    Any ideas out there?

Thanks, but that did not seem to work.
Once I changed that, the surcharge field simply displayed the subtotal figure, which messed with the total cost (subtotal + surcharge).
It also did not stop the checkbox from de-checking when an edit was made.

  • IMac keeps waking itself up

My iMac 27" keeps waking itself back up after I put it to sleep.  This just started about two days ago.

Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
    Step 1
Take all the steps suggested in this support article. That's the starting point for any further effort to solve the problem. Skipping any of those steps may mean that the problem won't be solved. Note that, as stated in the article, the computer  will not sleep if Internet Sharing is enabled.
    Step 2
    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Accessibility ▹ Speakable Items: Off
    Step 3
    Select
               ▹ System Preferences ▹ Bluetooth ▹ Advanced...
    and uncheck both boxes marked
Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if...
    Step 4
    Reset the SMC.
    Step 5
Disconnect all wired peripherals and test. If you use a wired keyboard and/or mouse, use different ones. You must rule out the wired keyboard and mouse as possible causes of the problem.
    Step 6
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
    Step 7
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
    Step 8
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after restarting out of safe mode, post again.

  • My iPhone 5s keeps deactivating itself.

Let it first be said that I jumped in a pool with my iPhone 5s. I was able to open it up, dry it out, and it was functioning fine until I left it out in a rainstorm. At first, everything was fine, but I started noticing that a few things were amiss. I could listen to my iPhone with earphones, but was not getting full sound out of my Apple earphones with a mic. Also, Bluetooth would work for Siri, but not for a phone call. I don't know where the signal went, I couldn't hear anything until I went back to the iPhone. Finally, since I upgraded to 8.0.2 my phone keeps deactivating itself and can't keep a good cellular signal. Of course, by now I've messed around inside my phone several times. Anyone?

Someone else may be able to offer suggestions, but my best guess is the water has permanently damaged some components. The only solution is to replace your phone.
Seeing as you've worked on it yourself, Apple will not sell you an out of warranty replacement. You would have to pay full price for a phone.
You may want to seek help over at ifixit.com to see if anyone there has had similar issues/can suggest parts to try replacing.

  • Macbook Pro Keeps Restarting Itself and then totally crashed

    Dear all.
    I am using Macbook Pro 13-inch (i7 2.9 Ghz, 8 GB DDR3, 750 GB) with OS X Maverick (10.9.4).
For the last few months, my Macbook Pro kept restarting itself and I usually ignored this issue until yesterday, my MBP fail to boot up, only display the grey apple logo and rolling icon below for almost 30 mins.
I tried the safe mode and reset NVRAM method and it still fail to boot up and sometimes a black text appears (aka kernel panic).
Then i took my macbook pro to the nearest Apple service provider and the technician said that it was probably due to the 750 GB Hard Disk since the HD itself is a faulty product, therefore we can't find any 750 GB HD nowadays. So he recommended me to replace my current HD with a new HD. I took his advice and I replaced it with 1 TB Toshiba HD. And then the technician reformat my MBP and installed the OS X Maverick. My Macbook pro able to boot up now.
However the next day I still find my MBP keeps restarting itself (until now) and take note that I didn't install any new softwares, I only updated the available  updates in Apps Store for the OS, iBooks, and iTunes.
Can anyone recommend me what to do? Is this a Hardware problem or software problem?
I'm thinking to switch back to OS Lion to see whether this is mainly due to OS Maverick.
    Thank you.

Unfortunately yes.   Since the computer is unable to boot up, that part of the software starts BEFORE the OS would.  Last time I had this problem, it turned out to be a faulty GPU (soldered to the logic board) and i needed to replace the logic board.    If you wanted to, you could indeed back up your personal data (you should ANYWAY, no matter what you do)  and you could try to do a fresh install,  but I'm fairly confident you are experiencing either faulty ram, or a faulty logic board.

  • Hard drive keeps cloning itself in finder

This is the second time I saw this on a Mac, and never happened to me before (being working in a AASP for the last 9 years)
The disc fails, and won't boot, but you can see all the data starting up in Target or mounting the HD as an external device in a known good computer and system.
But, after a few minutes the disc mounts again as a new FW external drive, and kees doing it as long as its conected.
I was able (apparenty) to extract all the info, conning it with third party software, but, the surprise is that none of the cloned files worked.
Disk utilities repairs the volume, and restores permissions... but the disc fails again.
I've tryed disc warrior (wich is unable to fix the drive as it keeps mounting itself every few minutes) techtools, data rescue... all with the same result, the drive seems to be repaired but as it keeps clonning or mounting, eventually fails again, and no data can be copyed  if the copy time tooks more time than the time the drive takes to cole itsef agai.
So, any idea what this could be?
any possible solutions or work arounds to extract the info?
Even GSX didn't know what that was, at least a few months ago...
    I will appreciate any ideas.
(Mac OsX 10.7 installed on bad HDD, OsX 10.7, 10.8 & 10.9 tryed to solve this matter)
    * One common error when trying to copy items is: The finder can't complete the operation because some data in ".DS_Store" can't be read or written. (Error code -36)
Picture shows three FW external units identical to each other.. (as it turns to be the same one replicating itself)

Assume for second your drive has failed totally, and get another backup drive to backup your source.
Once backed up you can determine how bad the failure is with Disk Utility Repair Disk, or if not revealing Alsoft Disk Warrior. Always have at two known working copies of your data at all times.

  • ITunes keeps opening itself

I recently updated my software and I also recently started using a Shuffle with my iMac - I'm not sure which is causing the problem.
I have iTunes 6.0.2, and it keeps opening itself automatically. Not when I start up my computer, but if I have iTunes open and then quit the application, it will just open itself right back up approximately 1-2 minutes later. It doesn't do anything - doesn't access the Music Store or start playing music - it just opens itself. So annoying!
Does anyone know how to make it stop doing this? Is it possible I have it set to automatically open for some reason?
    Thanks!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Coupla dumb questions:
Are you actually "quitting" iTunes by going to the iTunes Menu > Quit iTunes or by the keyboard (Command+Q)?
Or are you just clicking on the red button at the top of the program window, which actually does not quit the program. (The program is still open if you see a small rectangle symbol under the icon in the dock.)
Also check your System Preferences > CDs & DVDs and make sure you don't have iTunes set to open when you insert a blank disc, dvd or picture CD.

  • My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time for no reason every time I put it on silent or just get a Facebook message I have a broken sleep/power button anyone know how to fix this problem?

My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time the power/sleep button dosent work so it's quiet annoying having to plug it in all the time dose anyone have a fix for this?

The "fix" is to get the phone repaired.  There's no magic solution for a broken phone.
Bring your phone ant $149 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement, or find a 3rd party repair shop near you.

  • How do i fix a home button that keeps pressing itself

My home button keeps pressing itself at random times without me even touching or holding the device. When I press the home button itself once in awhile it works, most of the time it doesn't. I've already done all the possible quick fixes suggested online (rotating the home button, pushing upwards with the charger in, resetting to factory settings, etc.) with no success. I've spoken with two apple geniuses and they both told me I'd need to replace the home button and display since they are "connected." A friend insists the apple geniuses are BSing me and that only the home button needs to be replaced. A simple search online shows the home button and display are not connected as one piece. I tried to be very frank with the second genius to get a straightforward real answer and he still insisted both would need to be replaced. Am I missing something? I'm very wary of trying to solve the problem myself since the genius kept reminding me if I were to attempt to fix it myself apple would not be able to help me at all after that if I should fail. I've seen tutorials online but there are many home button problems (not responsive at all, not clicking) that are common yet different from mine. Has anyone every had a similar problem? Am I missing something about the display and home button being connected somehow? Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated and hopefully sooner rather than later; since I'm tired of my voice control being activated and embarrassingly calling random people (especially ones I haven't spoke to in years!). Thanks in advance !

Yes yes I understand the risks of apple not touching my phone after I've handled it myself. Apple is asking for an amount just shy of what I paid for the phone and the warranty is up so.. What I was really trying to ask for is advice from anyone who has opened an iPhone 5 themselves or is knowledgeable in the areas of iphone surgery so they could tell me a bit more about the home button and display being connected. I have no set plans to do this myself or to ask anyone else to as of now, I simply just want to understand the problem more since both geniuses were very vague. Although... I think I may have stepped into the wrong forum for this info as most seem to be valiant guardians of apple inc. Thanks much for what responses there were though.
    1. You didn't pay anywhere near $269 or $129 USD + tax for your iPhone 5.  If you bought it from a carrier and got a 'discount', that 'discount' was repaid as part of your contract.  It's 'deferred' payment, not really a 'discount'.  On average, you 'defer' about $450 when you buy an iPhone from a carrier.  So, take whatever you actually 'paid', and add $450 to it.  That's what the iPhone 5 actually cost you.
    2. The Home Button is an integral part of the display.  Even at an Apple Store, when the display is replaced so is the Home Button, as part of the 'kit'.
    3. Actually, it's more about being guardians for you, not Apple.  We're advising you to avoid something that will void your support from Apple.
There are NO user serviceable parts for an iPhone.  Anything you've seen online is not official, unless it came from Appel directly.

  • How do I get rid of SYNC ALERT - I think it has to do with Address Book - I keep unchecking and it keeps popping up!!

Well I was following some instructions on possibly syncing the Mac Address Book with Google and its created havoc.  I dont know if the instructions might have been for a previous OS or what.  I originally was looking for ways to sync the Address Book with Gmail for an Android Phone...but for now, I just exported the Address Book to Gmail and will deal with new contacts as they come.
But what these instructions told me to do was to go to Address Book/Preferences/Accounts and check Synchronize with Google....Now Im not sure if thats what I want or what exactly that will do.  (Since I already had exported my Address Book contacts to Gmail, the Google contacts should be the same as the Mac ones...but I got an error of 25 changes so I didnt want it to synchronize and tried to cancel it.)
I keep unchecking the box where it says Synchronize with Google but somehow it keeps getting checked again automatically.  Every now and then a SYNC CONTACTS pop up comes up - and I dont know what to do because it doesnt give me an option to CANCEL ...It just says sync now or sync later...Again it tells me it has found 25 differences...which I find impossible (and when I check 'see details' - it seems like theyre the exact same contacts)...After the popup comes up, I check the Address Book and that sync with Google magically gets checked again -even though I keep unchecking it.
I dont know what to do !  Everything I find in forums talks about deleting mobileme or isync but I dont have and never have used any of those things.  The forums said to delete isync from your Applications folder, but I dont have it there.
Any ideas?  I just want to stop the popups!

  • Itunes keeps maximizing itself

For some reason Itunes keeps maximizing itself. I minimize it and then 30 seconds later pops to the top of all my applications.
This is windows xp pro and I'm stumped..=/
Anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this? Or how to fix it?

I don't think it's malware or anything, my pc is clean of all that. But I think it could be something to do with my new keyboard and software for it now.
    I got a Logitech G15 keyboard and I think it's something to do with it's software....fun fun.
