Layers not acting right

I draw a layer on to my page and it goes to the top of page
and stays there, I can't drag to move it, I turned on absolute and
it does't help, what is going on?

Try checking 'Display Styles' in the 'Style Rendering' drop
down of the 'View 'menu in the 'Layout' toolbar. It worked for
me.

My photoshop is now not acting right. Can I uninstall then reinstall it?

I updated my photoshop and now it freezes when I try to do several things. One is to convert to black and white in application. If it's not freezing, it's cropping the far right side of the photo off. Can I uninstall then reinstall the program?

Adobe Community Pages not acting right

For the past few weeks I've noticed that the Adobe Community Pages (at least Captivate's) is acting hnky. I'll be logged in to Adobe and go to the online forums and need to sign in again. Then I sign in go to the Captivate community and ask a question or try and read some questions and the page will close and go back to the page where you select a community to visit. This is very frustraing.
I don't understand why I have to sign in a second time and why does it keep flipping back?

For everyone's information: The forum software (Jive) was recently updated to the latest version because the old version was about to go belly-up and NOT be supported by Jive. Adobe hadn't updated the forum software in a long time. The fact that no major updates had been done in so long and the additional fact that a lot of customizations had also made the old version now somewhat incompatible with the latest version of the forum software have contributed to a number of "teething problems" especially around the issue of logging in.
As far as I can tell (from watching the moderator forums) Captivate's forum is not the only one still havng some issues. Most of the remaining login issues seem to be related to browser settings and conflicts with browser cookies. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you delete your browser cookies and see if that helps. If it doesn't, log an issue with Adobe.

Newbie-help with transitions--ripple dissolve not acting right

I'm a FCP newbie and having a problem with ripple dissolve.
This is what I did: in the TL put clip 1 followed by clip 2. Took the video of clip two and dragged it above clip 1 at the point I want the transition to start. Click on the in point (where the transition is supposed to start.) Select "Ripple Dissolve." Render. And voila, the ripple dissolve looks like a cross dissolve. I experimented with selecting the transition and trading it for a number of other transitions and all of the other transitions work but every time I try Ripple, I get a cross vs the look of a ripple dissolve.
What am I doing wrong?

When you hold the option Key you can select the audio seperate from the video and then put it on two other audio tracks. Then you can OPTION drag the beginning or ending of the audio to the position you want.

I guess what's happening is that you still don't get the idea of handles completely. Clip 1 needs extra length after the cut (handle). Clip 2 needs extra length BEFORE the cut. (handle)

The issue has been with me about three or four updates ago and is same with two different computers, one running XP the other Win7.

"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file ''cookies.sqlite'' that stores the cookies is corrupted.
You can rename (or delete) '''cookies.sqlite''' (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete '''cookies.sqlite-journal''' and '''cookies.txt''', if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Dropped Iphone in a bit of water now not acting right

Can anyone recommend what I do next? I have an appt. at the Genius bar tomorrow. Some of the apps works some semi work.

Well if you have powered it up, it is too late for the rice now. The damage is done.
About your only alternative now is to take it back to Apple for a replacement. Since that is classified as damage you will have to pay for the replacement.

Iolo System Mechanic app failed and has caused FF not to act right - not loading buttons and some web pages to be a list instead of what the UI should look like.... I have reinstalled but still have the problem and not sure what to do

Basically certain web pages are not loading proper since app Iolo System Mechanic failed. I have reinstalled FF but still not loading right. Buttons are not showing and some pages are in a list instead of the GUI view.

I installed and uninstalled Firefox several times - finaly after I selected NOT to have Firefox as the default browser, the installation worked and pages loads correctly now! I made Firefox the default browser after the successful installation!

Unable to open PNG files "not the right kind of document"

I just noticed this error today when I tried to open several PNG files, some of which I created with Photoshop: "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".
I'm running Photoshop 9.0.2 on Windows XP Pro. Opening other file types (gif, jpg) works fine. I also noticed that in the save as dialog box that PNG is not a listed file type.

PNG certainly is listed as a file type. I have saved many of them using Save As, many quite recently, using PSCS3; and I just did a couple in PSCS2. Here's the Save As box in PSCS2 with an 8-bit flattened image being saved as PNG:

 Both PNG images opened properly. The second one opened as 16-bit, flattened (layers aren't preserved in PNG).
 
 And both of the above images were Saved As PNG from PSCS2, also.

For Loop not acting correctly...

Hi everyone,
I have this For Loop in JavaScript which is not working correctly and I really have no idea why it is acting like so... I don't if anyone has already encountered this issue and I'd like to know if there's a fix for this or what am I doing wrong...
I have a normal for until the count is done like this -> for (var c = 0; c < frmResourceReq.instanceManager.count; c++){}
If I put this loop with only a messageBox it will do it right, so if the count is 1, it will do it once, if the count is 2 it will do it twice...
The loop with the actual code is not acting like so.. if the count is 1, it will do it once, but if the count is 2 it will do it once also...
At 1 point it was acting weird so I decided to make the condition with 'c <= frmResourceReq.instanceManager.count'
Now if the count is 1, it is not working because it crashes once it execute it the second time, but if I have a count of 2 or 3 it will execute the right number of times...
Does anyone have any idea what is creating this issue, seems like I really can't figure it out.

to avoid that the loops condition is unnecessarily calculated again for every iteration it's recommended to save the condition in a variable first.
for (var c = 0, n = _frmResourceReq.count; c < n; c += 1) {
//code to execute
As the instance count of iteration frmResourceReq may change already while the loop runs it can end with unexpected results.

Adjustment Layers Not Functioning

I have Photoshop CS6 and suddenly I am unable to use adjustment layers. I've been using Photoshop for over 15 years, and the procedure has always been the same; create an adjustment layer then click the circle on the left of that layer, and a dialog box appears where the curves, levels and such may be controlled. Clicking on this circle no longer produces the dialog box.

Thanks again Gene. In the past I've had to throw out the prefs file more than once but it's been so long I forgot that. I don't want to upgrade my OS because I've heard this and that about the higher systems. But what plugins would you recommend?
Not to pester you, though. If you don't want to respond I won't pursue it. Keep up your good work.

Adjustment layers not working CC

Hi all,
Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I am trying to get a solid adjustment fill layer to clip to the layer below it. I can get the little bent arrow and the layer it is clipped to is underlined, but the screen is still filled solid with the fill layer's color. It is not acting as expected and masking to the black lines of a black and white drawing, just filling the whole canvas with color.
I have tried resetting my pref files and tried it on another computer. I am fairly certain the issue is an ID10T error on my part.

There is no transparency/ mask channel anywhere in your setup, so I'm not sure what you expect. Linking a solid background layer with another layer - umm - leaves it solid at 100% opacity. You realyl need to watch a tutorial on how to do this the right way...

Files Made in CS5.1 Layers Palette Acts Strangely When Opened in CS6

I have files that were created in Illustrator CS5.1 that when opened in CS6, the layers palette acts strangely; the names of layers are not there unless you mouse over, very odd. Has anyone else experienced this? I do have a Pantone Live Plugin installed on Illustrator CS5.1, could this be creating some strange issue? Thank you.

Remote not working right

I've had my FIOS about 2 months, put new batteries in remote and it is still not working right. Some things work fine. Other things stopped working - can't delete a DVR show, can't change channels with one digit, but it will if I add all 4 digits, info box on bottom of screen never disappears (unless I hit exit). What's wrong?
My second TV set-up is OK.

Might not even be a remote issue. Have you tried rebooting the box?
If you do think it's the remote it's still under warranty.
You can get a free replacement easy within the dvr's menu.
Here is a page that tells you ways to get a replacement.

Get a new remote and if you still have the same issues then you'll know its the dvr that needs to be replaced.

Is there any way to redownload iOS 5 my iPod touch 4 th generation white 32 gig is not working right?

My iPod is not working right. It's slow and lags and just doesn't work and always exits apps. I was if there was any way to redownload ios5 because it does the same things after I've reset about 4 times. Please help! It's even lagging why I am typing this. You cannot reinstall iOS without doing a restore. But you might first try a software update. If you have iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1, you can update to iOS 5.1 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
