Layers on PS 11 trial

Hi, can anyone tell me if there are restirctions of tool use on the elements 11 trial.
i want to cut,copy,paste, and use layers, and the drop down menus for these are not highlighted.
I must admit i have not used ps11 before but do use other programs and think perhaps i am missing something

I was on 8 Bits, then i wondered why i couldnt see the move tool even though you said not to use it, lol, i then changed the guide from Quick to Expert, and now i recognise the tools much better,

CC Trial version won't import video as layers - "Could not complete your request because..."

I am trying to import a video into Ps CC trial version to make a gif.
Every time I click file > import > video frames to layers, I get the error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." This is before the window to choose what video I want to import even opens. I have not tweaked the preferences and have only had the program on this computer for a day.
The same thing happens when I open the Timeline view and try to add the video through "Add Media" on there.
I've rebooted several times, updated my operating system, etc etc. Nothing seems to work.
Running OS X 10.9.1, i7 processor (which is 64 bit) on a 2013 MacBook Air.
Any ideas?

It was already disabled when I checked. I enabled it and tried again, still didn't work. Anything else that might be wrong? i'm getting desperate lol

How do I activate the Edit menu and Layers in the trial version of PSE12?

After looking at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/faq.html#trial-information 1., which says it's a fully functional version, I downloaded the trial version of PSE12,.
But when I open a photo, and Select > All, the Edit menu shows the following:
Thinking that maybe Layers has to to active, but the Window menu shows the following:
Like in the Edit menu, everything is greyed out.
How do I make things active so I can actually evaluate this trial version?

Cannot open layers in trial of elements 10...help

Hi,
I am unable to open layers in the trial version of elements 10...is this correct and if so it's bloody useless as a trial as i want to use it for smart filters with viveza...any ideas...thanks!!

anyone out there?...i talked to adobe " support " and they tersely answered they do not offer support for a trial!!...how on earth do they expect one to sample their product prior to a purchase?...hopeless at best...i am not inclined to shell out a hundred bucks if they can't answer a few simple questions!!

Trial version of PSE9 Layers functions

I downloaded the trial version of PSE9 but in the edit section I cannot use any of the functions in Layers or about half of the functions in Filters. Is the trial version the full version and if so what is the remedy to my problem

I have the same problem.
I opened a tif file, which opened without a problem. But nothing else works in 'full edit' mode - not the layers, not the drop down boxes, etc.
I'm disappointed and will uninstall it. I've used Paint Shop Pro for 15 years, but was wanting an Adobe product because my main editing software is Lightroom 3.3 and thought that Elements would do well with LR.
The limitations of Elements and the bugs are not well-explained on the Adobe site.

Windows menu mostly disabled (eg. Layers). Trial limitation?

Hi all,
I just downloaded the Trial version of Elements. I want to be sure it's good for what I want (2D game graphics) before I purchase. I tried to create a simple into screen for my game, but the Layers window in the Windows menu is greyed out (as is 90% of the Windows menu).
I can seemingly create new layers with the Layers menu, but since I can' open the Layers window, I can't do much between them.
Is this a limitation of the trial, or am I doing something stupid?
Another small queston, when I select some text, the Copy/Paste options are greyed out, unless I select everything else in the document. Is this because they're on the same layer, or does it sound strange? I wanted to copy/paste my text (to creat a flipped, reflection), but I just couldn't find a way to do it.

Windows. When I start it, I Get the below splash screen. Clicking CREATE loads Elements with lots of stuff (like all of the windows: layers, history, effects, etc.) disabled. Clicking EDIT loads it with all this stuff enabled. I think the CREATE option is for using wizards to create flyers and stuff. I'd rather just skip this and have it load in the EDIT mode every time.

How do I resize layers in trial version?

I have created a collage and would like to resize some of the photos/layers. I have been alternating working on this at my friend's using Photoshop 7 (because she's teaching me Photoshop), but it is not the same and I have not been able to find how to resize the photos. Moving and renaming layers I figured out. How do you resize please :-)

Ctrl-t on windows and command-t on mac. This is the free transform tool (It will do everything the normal tranform tools will do). You will also find it in the edit menu. Just below that is transform menu which is dedicated scale, skew, rotate, etc. These tools work on a per selected layer(s) basis.

Photoshop CS6 Extended Trial - Can't see layers...?

My comp (Background, Layers... anything on the image) appears only when dragging its Window, then disappears again when dropped.
Rescaling the Window leaves afterimages of the window's boarder, too.
I've installed twice.
Please advise.

Unfortunately, there's still an issue, but I've narrowed it down to a resolution problem.
When I said, "It's woking fine now." I was working on 1 Laptop monitor at 1600x900.
When I first brought the issue up, I was working on 4 (1 Laptop, 2 normal monitors and 1 ELO touch screen).
I'm trying the new CS6 programs out before my company buys them, so I'd like to know if this is a real problem, or a quick fix.
I was able to get the image to display, but I had to change my set-up a little.
Here's some details:

Extended Desktop
Monitor 1 = 1600x900 (laptop)
Monitor 2 = 1280x1024 (ELO)
Monitor 3 = 1920x1200
Monitor 4 = 1920X1080
[Functional]
Duplicate 1/2
Monitor 1/2 = 1152x864 (laptop and ELO)
Monitor 3 = 1920x1200
Monitor 4 = 1920x1080
I'm currently using Photoshop CS4 with no issues. If this is the way CS6 is going to play, I'll just adjust my workspace now... but I'm kind of hoping this is just a glitch.

"Program error" when I try to import video as layers - Photoshop CC

I am running Photoshop CC trial version and am unable to import a video as layers. I seem to be able to do eveything else, just not this.
I have Quicktime7 running as well, but that hasn't made a difference. I keep getting the message: "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
Can anyone help me?

I'm having the exact same problem, using a macbook pro retina 10.9.
Whenever I try to select 'Video frames to layers', a window immediately pops up and says 'Could not complete your request because of a program error.' I assume it must be a bug that needs to be fixed? It won't let me choose a video file at all.
I hope there is a way to fix this.

Trial version is out of date. When will 10.0.7 be available for trial?

I'm using the trial version (10.0.6) and found a bug burning single layer DVDs, also reported and discussed extensively on this forum.
Supposedly this is fixed in 10.0.7 (or so the release notes claim) But I'm understandably skeptical.
I'd like to TRY before I BUY this $300 software package.
Q1: Does anybody know how to upgrade the trial to the latest version? I still have 22 days left in my trial.
Q2: If that's not possible, does anyone know Apple's plans.. are they going to update the FCPX 30-day trial webpage to 10.0.7 anytime soon?
Oh, by the way, Please don't suggest buying CompressorX for $49.99 as a work-around. FCPX is supposed to be able to do this rather simple job itself. But there is a bug. The whole point of the trial is to see if the software works. Currently the answer is NO, so I'm not going to fork over 50 bucks for some other piece of software based on Apple saying "trust us, THIS software DOES work (even though you can't test it yourself prior to purchase)." That is a non-starter.

Here you go: I'm not an expert, so this may be more info than necessary, but I'm trying to answer all questions in advance.
I'm using video files from two different HD cameras, both shot in 1080i (1920X1080, 29.97i), stereo sound @ 48Khz. Each contains their own audio-track from the on-camera audio.
I imported all the clips with the "create optimized media" box checked to create pro-res 422 files for editing.
I synched them manually into multi-cam clips using a slate (which was fortunate because the difference in sound levels meant that FCPX's attempt to auto-synch failed), and cut & edited them into a completed project.
I know that DVD resolution is not HD, but I wanted the best original source material so I shot and edited in HD anyway. I know FCPX will compress the final result down to DVD resolution, and that's cool.
The completed project is 1 hour 50 minutes long. I added 68 chapter markers. (the project is for a school talent show which had 68 acts) Editing went fine and I'm happy with the finished project. My fellow parents are anxious to see the finished DVD.
So, after a week's work, I'm now trying to create the DVD image on my hard drive, for later burning to disks.
From FCPX, I'm selecting File>Share>DVD.
In the DVD window, the "info" tab is giving me an estimated size of 3.84GB.
This should fit on a standard single-layer DVD-R (capacity 4.7G (4.38gig), or 2+ hours of video)
There is no option to change any of the "info" settings, it's just standard DVD resolution (720X480, Stereo 48Khz, time 1:50:17:06, 2 files)
I click "settings" tab and choose these settings including "single layer":
Output Device: Hard Drive
Layers: Single-layer
Disk Template: Black
When Disk Loads: Show menu
Markers: checked "Use Chapter Markers as subtitles"
Background: [a 970kb JPG still image]
Clicking next and specifying an external hard drive with 1+TB of free space, FCPX goes to work, and, after about 50 minutes, creates a finished DVD image file that is.... 6.7G's.
Whoops! too big to fit on a single layer DVD.
So, what am I doing wrong?
I sure hope the problem is me rather than the software, but I doubt it, since the same problem has been reported on these forums here, here, here, and here.
All previous posters reported the problem arising in 10.0.6, the same version Apple offers as a trial. The 10.0.7 version release notes state "Fixes an issue that could occur when creating a single layer DVD." But I can't get a trial of the 10.0.7 to test this.
The work-arounds which were posted in response to those earlier forum posts were either to use a dual-layer disc (non-starter, as most parents will want to watch these DVDs on their stand-alone DVD players hooked up to their TV, most of which won't play dual-layer media) or export a master file then use Compressor X. (which supposedly works but there's no trial version to verify this and I'm not up for spending 50 bucks to find out.)
So, can you help me? I sure hope I'm doing something wrong because I really want this to work.

That depends on why it won't open. Most of the time it means the file is corrupted and unlikely to be recovered. If you saved it right after adding or copying a LOT of layers - then it might just be the layer limit and we can attempt to recover it.

How Can I get extend of ThemeBasedFOI layers

Hi,
I am trying to figure out how I can get extend of ThemeBasedFOI layers. With this information I try to center my theme based FOI.
So far I tried two ways:
- My first trial was getLayerBoundingBox method of ThemeBasedFOI class. However the resulting SdoGeometry was the extend of the whole map. After I zoom out/in, pan I can not center my FOI with getLayerBoundingBox result.
- My second trial was getFOIDataEntries method of ThemeBasedFOI class. Through iteration (of FOI data) I try to find layer extend. However, when the layer content was polyline or polygon the method was failed. Since I can only reach the first coordinate of the foi data entries. The failure was dramatic if there is only one FOI data in layer (for this case I can not even has clue about the extend).
How can I get ThemeBasedFOI extend (now and future)? I also wonder if there is anybody there getting the true result from getLayerBoundingBox method. I also expect that I will utilize this method in future without any problem.

I understand that having a preset text that you did not want can be a bit frustrating when sending out text. To clarify, is the preset message like a signature at the end of your text? Does this only happen in text messages or when your send emails also? Is your SMS delivery confirmation on? Messaging>Settings>SMS delivery confirmation.

Fireworks CS6 trial is very slow on Windows 7

I'm not sure what's going on, but it's bound to be fixable. I've downloaded and installed the Fireworks CS6 trial and it's stalling after performing simple tasks. The only way I know to describe it is like this -- here are a few examples:
Try to create text, type the first letter and it hangs for about 30 seconds. Does the same after every letter I type.
Zoom in, it hangs for about 30 seconds and tries to catch up.
Move a layer in the layers panel, it hangs for about 30 seconds.
In some cases, such as entering text, when it hangs I can minimize the window and then come back and it's ready to go. Of course it hangs again as soon as I type the next letter.
Anyway, it's strange behavior and I'm not sure what to do. I'm on a ThinkPad W510 with Windows 7 Professional and 8 GB of ram.

Thats odd - is the lag only with type objects? Specific Font Face or all of them? Does it occur with vector shape object creation/mainpulation?
Is it possible that you have a corrupt font?
I also use Win 7, though not the same machine specs as yours but do not see the lag as you do.
Hopefully, the engineers drop by the forums to better assist.

CC Trial

Wife is gone for the weekend so I started my 30 day trial. I started Photoshop CC and it started and offered to migrate my CS6 presets. I accepted the offer. Photoshop starup migrated my presets but not my Photoshop preferences so I set my CC preference like my CS6 settings.. The first thing I did then was check for updates. There were two one for Photoshop CC 32 bit version and one for Photoshop CC 64 bit Version. So I gave the OK to install them. During the update I had to close down CC. CC need a restart anyway for my preferences setting to take hold. The updates installed without a problem and I was happy to see I did not have to start the Creative Cloud Desktop application. I may be able to uninstall Adobe Cloud Desktop Application and still be able to use Photoshop CC and get its updates, for the Adobe Application Manager seems up to the task.
When I start Photoshop CC Adobe nag pop-up windows always raises its ugly head. Adobe WHY? About Photoshop shows I'm at level 14.1.2.
I tried one of my scripts and it worked that was good to see. I will spend some to doing regression testing this week. Test my Actions and Scripts to see if any of the problem areas have been addressed.
I see the two incompatible Photoshop options are still present in the Adjustment Panel's fly-out menu. Adobe these really should be removed from Photoshop. Adobe still disable Photoshop's Tool recording feature when you install Adobe's scriptlistener plugin.
Well also test the CS6 bugs not fixed in CS6 that effect some of my Actions.
Save For Web Action recorder problem fixed in CC
Interactive rename current layer action Player bug not fixed. A layer rename dialog does not open. CS5 action the used insert menu item Layer>Layer Properties to rename layer fail because Adobe removed menu Layer>Layer Properties in CS6 and replaced it with Layer>Layer Rename. However using insert menu item Layer>Layer Rename inserted nothing into the action. Instead of fixing that problem in CC Adobe grays out Layer>Layer Rename for no good reason. For Layer>Layer Rename is a valid option for the current state of the document. So old actions with Select Layer Properties Fail with an error. Action with set currentlayer name set to be interactive do not open a dialog. Insert menu item Layer>Layer Rename is not possible. Actions now need to use a script to be able to have an interactive rename layer step. Yes this is a low impact bug. Adobe it would still be nice if you maintained backwards compatibility and fixed reported bugs.
I have not had any ScriptUIFlex crashes yet however I have not done much script testing. I have only used CC for a few hours no crashes yet....
Just looking around for new icons in the UI I saw share in Behance what ever that is. Clicking the icon crashes CC.

Right now a lot of my script don't work because of a bug in cc. It was reported in the scripting forum back in September. I reported it today in adobe feedback. Jeff can reproduce it and will talk to Tom about it. I don't expect much from Adobe support they never seem to fix bugs I report in the current release of Photoshop.
It also looks like Adobe is not going the fix the bug the added to Photoshop the break a very few action that use to be able to interactively name layers. I did write a script to to that the can be use users can edit the old actions and replace the step with a script the runs my script.
