Layers Panel hidden when using secondary monitor

The bottom of the Layers Panel is hidden when my secondary monitor is on.  I opened Systems Preferences > Display and adjusted scanning slider but I still can't make the PS screen smaller.  What else can I do?
Thanks.

What happens if you choose a different workspace (using the control at the upper-right of the Photoshop main window)?
Reiterating what Christoph has asked above, please post a screenshot so we know what you're actually seeing.

My 42ZV625D LCD TV displays a black bar at left side of the screen when used as monitor at resolution 1366 x 768. When I adjust the position of the screen a grey overlay appears at the opposite side. Can someone help me with this?

    Hi there
If you like you can do a System restore to a previously known good state.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=in&lc=en&docname=c03327545
Alternatively try uninstalling current graphic driver from Display adapters section in Device Manager & reinstalling the latest Graphic driver from your HP support page.
    Then restart the system, check.

  • Desktop acting weird when using External Monitor.

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if people have been having this weird "problem" when using an external monitor on OS X Mavericks. Though not really an issue that makes the OS/Mac usable, it's more of a quality of life thing (and it's really annoying for someone who likes things to be where I put them).
Anyways, the problem is that when I use my external monitor when at home, I have it set as the main display while the monitor on my MacBook Pro 15" acts as the extended/secondary monitor. No problems in functionality, BUT, the icons on my desktop always move while my external monitor is in use.
I usually do my work while using my external monitor and I use my desktop as my initial location to save my work files before moving them to an appropriate folder. However, revert back to not using the external monitor, everything just gets muddled up on top of eachother, stuff (sometimes) get missplaced and it just becomes a hassle to rearrange my desktop to how it was before.
tl:dr: desktop icons move when I use my external monitor as my main display.
So does anyone know if this is a problem that can be fixed, or is it an issue my monitor being a 3rd party model and old?

    Hi BradnBeaverton,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below may be able to help you with this issue.
Whether or not you are using an Apple Cinema Display, the behaviour you are describing is the same:

Desktop icons move after screen resolution change
Changing the screen resolution affects the display of information on your screen, especially changing to a smaller resolution. The operating system may automatically reposition icons after you change the screen resolution.

  • Turn off LCD display when using second monitor WITHOUT closing lid

I am wondering if there is a way to turn off my macbook's LCD monitor when using a secondary display without closing the lid. I end up having to close the lid, wait for it to sleep, moving moues, and then reopening the lid so it doesnt overheat, and that's alot of work when most windows machines just offer a display setting to accomplish the same thing.
Does anyone know of a terminal command that would disable the primary monitor?

It is designed to work with the lid closed and it will not overheat. I do it all the time and have not noticed a rise in temperature because the lid is closed.

  • Sy-tabix when using secondary key

    Hi,
I have an internal table with records that contain a field with the line index of another table entry that they depend on.
I can process this table recursively, by passing the parent index inside and using a
LOOP AT ... USING KEY secondary_key WHERE index = iv_index.
Unfortunately the sy-tabix is afterwards not correct, it contains the position in the secondary key probably instead the position in the internal table.
Is there a way how I could find out the current table index, when using a secondary key to read a record?
    Regards,
    Bruno

I rewrote it to include the row index also, not only the dependency.. was thinking too generic

  • How to blank laptop screen when using external monitor/

    Hi there
I need some help with figuring out how to configure my xorg.conf for my Arch Linux 64 bit installation on a HP Pavilion dv 5000 laptop so that I can automatically blank my laptop screen when using an external monitor.  I have Arch Linux installed along with Ubuntu Feisty.  In Ubuntu my external monitor (Viewsonic 1912WB) was not detected at the time of installation but with the native 1280X800 resolution that is good for the laptop takes effect for the external monitor automatically when the external monitor is plugged in.  The laptop monitor goes blank when the external monitor is plugged in.
In my Arch Linux installation I have not been able to configure a dual head configuration using the ATI Radeon drivers (fglrx).  I have the native 1280X800 resolution set up for the laptop monitor and this resolution takes effect for the external monitor also.  However the laptop monitor also continues to function when the external monitor is plugged in.  I would like to blank the laptop monitor when using the external monitor.
I am attaching my Arch Linux xorg.conf and the Ubuntu xorg.conf below.  Thanks for anyone who can help, I am having a lot of difficulty in figuring out how to set up xorg.conf among all the things that I have had to learn so far in Linux and I am a relative newcomer to the whole thing. I have tried to compare the two xorg.conf files and edit my Arch xorg.conf in accordance with the Ubuntu one but it did not work and I keep getting errors!
I am using XFCE as my Desktop environment.

Xrandr 1.2 provides means for this. But today the only supported configuration is xorg-server-1.3 + xf86-video-intel-2.0. So for Radeon you'll have to wait for drivers that support Randr 1.2.
On my laptop (Thinkpad x60s) that would be:
    xrandr --output VGA --auto
    xrandr --output LVDS --off

  • I am stumped I do not understand why my roommates macbook pro when duel screened will display perfectly on my monitor while mine refuses to, but mine will display perfectly when using another monitor that is not mine. Please help me out.

One day when using my duel display the second monitor decided it wouldn't display at full resolution in the middle of doing something i was confused. I use a mini display to hdmi then hdmi to the second monitor. I thought maybe the converter or cable died. I bought another another mini display to hdmi and tried another hdmi cord and the same issue. My roommate has macbook pro as well so i decided to see if it was the monitor, when i pluged the mini display converter into his and used the external monitor it displayed perfectly not below resolution. Doing this I knew it was not the monitor or the mini display to hdmi or the hdmi cable. I took it into the genuis bar assuming now that it was my grapics card or logic board. When the genuis went to duel screen it on a cinema display it displayed perfectly. So went home tried to duel screen it again and still not displaying at full resolution. That is where I am stuck, in summary:
My screen used to display perfect resolution on a second monitor and suddenly did not.
Tested two mini display to hdmi and hdmi cords both were fine.
Tested to see if monitor was issue but displayed perfectly when i used roommates laptop.
Went to genius bar and displayed perfectly on second monitor so it can display perfect resolution on apples monitors but will not do so anymore on my monitor, even though roommates macbook pro will display perfect resolution on my monitor.
    I am beyond confused.

Apparently you have tried everything except - take the monitor in question to the Apple Store along with your computer.  If it works there, the mystery continues.

  • Macbook Pro 15 Late 11 extreme fans noise when using external monitor

Dear Apple, recently I bought Macbook Pro 15 Late 11. I really love it's speed and new OS X Lion, BUT this Macbook really noisy when I use external monitor and keyboard. I work on external monitor all the time. I don't care about how hot my Macbook is when I'm on external monitor. Let it just be hot and quiet.
P.S. Example. I run Ableton Live and have 6200 RPM working on external monitor (awfully loud!). CPU 90% idle. When I switch off external monitor and use internal one, RPM drops down to 4500 with the same Ableton work session. By the way, I don't need cool graphic card. Apple, let our work days be quiet.

I did that and it didn't help. It's common problem with an external monitor. Here are some links:

  • Jumpy mouse on 27" imac when using 2nd monitor

Exactly as my post suggests, I'm using an acer AL2016 20" monitor via a mini displayport to DVI adaptor at 1680x1050. What's weird is it isn't always jumpy, just sometimes. But only when the second monitor is connected does this happen.
I've tried this with 2 different logitech trackballs and few different mice, it makes it hard to click on anything because the mouse "jumps"... the speed it moves isn't consistent. I've tried cleaning the trackball, even replacing it. Only thing I can think is the difference in resolution between the two monitors(2560x1440 vs 1680x1050) is confusing it.

  • When using 2 monitors, Finder always displays on primary monitor even after dragging to 2nd monitor.

How can I set Finder to display to 2nd monitor.  I drag it to the second monitor, but it still display on primary monitor when next opened.

Thank you for your reply. No other program behaves this way, even PhotoShop CS4. It is related to how the program handles OS events.
It is probably a problem with the Windows WM_GETMINMAXINFO and WM_SIZE handlers. My guess is that program stores the maximized size (and it always fills the screen at start-up) and it query to see if it is dragged to a larger screen.
Of course, this theory doesn't address the disappearing program behavior when maximized on the secondary monitor. Since I don't have another OS, I cannot check if it is Vista related or Windows related. Because of the difference in architecture, I'd be surprised if it happened on a Mac, too.

  • GS70 Stealth Pro Crashes when using external monitor..

    Hi Guys,
I just bought a GS70 ghost pro a few weeks ago and have been loving it, no problems, running Battlefield 3 and watchdogs..
However I just bought an external monitor, Asus VG248QE, when i connected it via display port and tried to play Battlefield 3 on the external monitor the laptop crashed - both screens blank- fan on- power button went orange- had to hold down the power button to reset.
Tried it again, opened Bf3 in window mode, put it on external monitor, went to full screen - it played ok for a few minutes then the laptop crashed again..
I had played bf3 no problems on the laptop screen previously.
Anyone got any ideas what might be going on? I'm new to gaming on pc so I'm a bit lost, any suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Noise when using external monitor

When I connect my MacBook Pro to an external LCD screen and also connect my soundoutput to an external amplifier I get noise in the speakers. What can I do to avoid this?
It gets even worse when using powercord on my MacBook.

this is caused by processor noise/power interference. one fix is to turn the volume all the way up on the macbook pro,and adjust volume on the amplifier.

  • Access Denied Web Application with Claims authentication NTLM only when using secondary URL

I have a SharePoint 2010 server farm with 2 web front ends, an application server and a database server.  Both front ends are internal to
our network and are not behind a load balancer.
NOTE THAT I HAD TO SUBSTITUTE hzzp with hzzp so that I had no links in the body of this post since I am not verified
I setup a new web application called "SharePoint 41171" with:
    Public URL:
    hzzp://testserver1:41171
    Claims authentication
    NTLM only: no forms auth
    No SSL
    New web site "SharePoint 41171"
    New app pool
    New content database
I create a top level site collection and name mydomain\myusername as the primary site collection admin
I am able to access this site as expected at
hzzp://testserver1:41171 with the aforementioned site collection owner id: mydomain\myusername
I add an alternate access mapping for a secondary URL for this web application in the Intranet zone:
    hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com
So my AAMs for the site read as:
    hzzp://testserver1:41171
    Default     hzzp://testserver1:41171
    hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com
    Intranet     hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com
When I attempt to log on to
hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com with the same user name and password, I get "access denied".
I can access this site using
hzzp://iwatest.mydomain.com if I log in as the farm account.  This is the only account that seems to work.
Side Note: If I create a separate web application without claims - just NTLM and create the same AAMs, I can login fine with the same secondary
URL and the same user name
IP address properly maps to this machine.
I reviewed the ULS logs and find the following:

Basically it tells me that access is denied.  I didnt see anything that stood out here.
    I found this article:
hzzp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadminprevious/thread/ded9188b-ee03-4ef0-bb50-3ad138110e0c, which pointed me in the direction of ensuring that the portal
super user and portal reader accounts were properly added to my web application.  I followed the every popular article on doing this:
hzzp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758656.aspx, but still no luck.  As per the thread, I added the 2 domain accounts to the user policy with appropriate privilege
and then set them as the super user and super reader accounts via powershell, and yes I did prefix those names with "i:0#.w|mydomain\".  To be exta sure, I repeated this for all web applications on this server with slightly different powershell steps
depending on wether or not claims was enabled on the web application.
The Claims to Windows Token Service is running.
I saw some mention of ensuring that the secure token service is running with a proper application pool account, but we are not running that service
and I cant imagine what that would have to do with my situation.
I have deleted and readded the web application and repeated these steps to no better effect.
I gave the mydomain\myusername full control for the web application through the user policy, ensured that it was indeed the primary site collection
owner and added it to the default site owners group.  None of this helped.
I changed the application pool account to the farm account.  No change in behavior.
Rebooted IIS and the machines many times along the way.
Further, when I attempt to sign in as a different user after being denied, I get "an unexpected error has occured message.  I found the following
    in ULS:

I have, though I am not sure that what I've added there is correct:
The URL that I am trying to use to access the web application's IIS site is hxxp://iwatest.mydomain.com.  I added a binding to the IIS site as follows:
Type    Host name                      port        IP address
    http     iwatest.mydomain.com     41171     *
    Is that correct?

  • Database much larger than expected when using secondary databases

    Hi Guys,
When I load data into my database it is much larger than I expect it to be when I turn on secondary indexes. I am using the Base API.
I am persisting (using TupleBindings) the following data type:
    A Key of size ~ *80 Bytes*
    A Value consisting of 4 longs ~ 4*8= *32 Bytes*
I am persisting ~ *280k* of such records
    I therefore expect ballpark 280k * (80+32) Bytes ~ *31M* of data to be persisted. I actually see ~ *40M* - which is fine.
    Now, when I add 4 secondary database indexes - on the 4 long values - I would expect to see approximately an additional 4 * 32 * 280k Bytes -> ~ *35M*
This would bring the total amount of data to (40M + 35M) ~ *75M*
(although I would expect less given that many of the secondary keys are duplicates)
What I am seeing however is *153M*
Given that no other data is persisted that could account for this, is this what you would expect to see?
Is there any way to account for the extra unexpected 75M of data?
    Thanks,
    Joel

    Hi Joel,
Now, when I add 4 secondary database indexes - on the 4 long values - I would expect to see approximately an additional 4 * 32 * 280k Bytes -> ~ 35MA secondary index consists of a regular JE database containing key-value pairs, where the key of the pair is the secondary key and the value of the pair is the primary key. Your primary key is 80 bytes, so this would be 4 * (4 + 80) * 280k Bytes -> ~ 91M.
The remaining space is taken by per-record overhead for every primary and secondary record, plus the index of keys itself. There are (280k * 5) records total. Duplicates do not take less space.
I assume this is an insert-only test, and therefore the log should contain little obsolete data. To be sure, please run the DbSpace utility.

  • Is there a way to prevent actions, like spaces, to only occur on one screen when using multiple monitors?, Is there a way to prevent actions, like spaces, to only occur on one screen when using multiple monitors?

Hello, I am using my Macbook Pro, late 2012 with a second monitor, which is a TV. I am wondering if there is a way to prevent spaces from poping up in the second monitor when i want it to ocur in the primary monitor? So on one monitor, or whichever one the mouse is, I want say Spaces, or Launch pad to popup on and not interfer with the other screen. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Harrison Howard

I believe the answer is no.
I have not been able to make extra monitors stick with a particular space.
Also, there is a relevant discussion here regarding this matter.
The last poster suggests a workaround which does not work as far as I can tell.
    Here is the discussion thread
