Layout editor vs hierarchy views

I am a newbie, but I have used LiveCycle Designer 8 to create some moderately complex forms. However, I suspect I am missing some very basic understanding.
I have a several page form. For development purposes, the items on each page are enclosed in a positioned subform. There are several page-wide positioned subforms, one above the other. When I change the enclosing form to flowed, several of the subforms rearrange, so that, for example, an item at the bottom of the layout editor is shuffled to the top of the preview.
I have done various copying and pasting operations in laying out the form, and assume that is the problem. I think I can arrange things correctly by dragging them around in the hierarchy view, but I would think there would be a way to force the program to arrange the hierarchy to correspond to the layout view.
Can any of you old hands give me a pointer? Or do I just have to build the forms top-to-bottom, one element at a time, or hassle with moving things around in the hierarchy?

Darrell and Chris (and everyone else)...
This posting touches on the same problem I have. I, too, am a newby. I am attempting to take a standard Boy Scout Adult Resource Survey form and set it up so the user can fill it out and elect to print it and/or email it. Ideally, I'd like to pull the emailed data into a spreadsheet.
Problem is that I have the form more-or-less functional, but I'd like to tiddy up the hierarchy view, and the order within the spreadsheet.
The hierarchy view is a mess. Is there an easy way to cull out the stuff that I don't need and reorder the stuff I have in the hierarcy view so it corresponds more to the layout view?
I've noticed that when I click on a radio button (or other object) I'm supposed to be taken to the correct place within the hierarchy view, but the "highlighing" in gray is to slight that it is very difficult to see.
The form I'm using is located at:

Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Hierarchy view/data view missing in layout - adobe forms

    Hello friends,
I am new to adobe forms, When i tried to design the form by mistaken i have hided the hierarchy view & data view(left side of the layout). I didn't know how to view that back. Can any one suggest me how to get those views back.

    Hi Poornima,
In Layout tab-->Palettes-->click on Hierarchy and Data view.

  • How do I get 'Layout Editor' to show my page in 'layout' view???

I'm not sure what I did.....
But I only have a blank page when I click the 'layout editor' tab. I use to see the layout of my page.
It works in some pages and some pages are blank. I've tried to click everything to see if it makes
a difference but nothing seems to help.
If I click the triangles at the bottom left then I get a split screen screen with the top empty and the
    bottom has source code.
    Can anyone tell me:
What I did to make this happen??
    How to undo it.
    Thanks!!!!

um.  Compare the code of the unworking pages with the working.  It sounds as though you have a line of code missing at the top of the un-displaying pages.  ??
Did you fix this in the last two months?!  I hope this helps.

  • Image not printing in Layout Editor

I am using BI Publisher 11.1.1.6.
I tried inserting an image in Layout Editor to display company logo.
    Followed the steps below.
    1. Click on Image icon in Layout editor.
    2. Select 'Field' Radio button, in the image URL: selected the field LOGO which
    comes from an SQL query.
    select value LOGO
    from Pro_Ent_table
    where section = 'SYSTEM'
    AND KEY = 'CORPORATE_LOGO_PATH';
    Value is: http://www.noug.org/clubs/165905/graphics/bip.jpg
    3. Click on insert in the Layout editor the logo can be seen.
    4. But when run the report, we are getting the following errors in different output formats.
    a. Interactive viewer - No error, blank screen had been shown.
    b. PDF - File does not begin with '%PDF-'.
    c. Excel - The report cannot be rendered because of an error, please contact the administartor.
    oracle.xdo.XDOException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
    d. RTF - The report cannot be rendered because of an error, please contact the administartor.
    oracle.xdo.XDOException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException.
Please let me know if more information is required.
    Thanks in advance

Metadata. Check the files and strip it or save to a format that doesn't support it in teh first place. Perhaps the copy&paste messes up some stuff on that level such as DPI flags or stored printer data...

  • Switching back to Book Layout Editor

As I'm arranging my pictures in my first Aperture book, there are a couple of photos that need a few simple adjustments. For the most part, this means lightening some of the darker, shadows, areas. I'm editing my book in "Split View" mode of course, within the Book Layout Editor mode. If I double-click on a picture thumbnail at the bottom and switch from the Library to Adjustments tab on the left-hand side I can make my simple changes. When I'm done, how do I "escape" the adjustments window? If I click back to the "Library" tab my book is already highlighted. If I double-click the book under the lists of projects in the Library tab, it edits the name of the book but I don't return to the Book Layout Editor mode. My single picture I just made an adjustment on remains on the screen. If I click the "Split View" icon in the toolbar, I get back to the split view of all my pictures in the book but there's still no Book Editor Mode... What am I missing? I can get back to the book by selecting another project (or book) and the re-selecting the book I was just working on from my list of "Projects & Albums", but this seems really klunky. Depending on which project I choose, this takes a moment as well. How do I return to my book after making an adjustment on a picture?
    -Doug

Thanks for that. I thought I had clicked on every icon possible already. To get that icon back, though, I still have to switch from "single" image back to "split view" first. Is there a keyboard command for that besides cycling through the views?

  • N4S: Web Dynpro for ABAP layout editor not working

Have problem in Layout editor in Web Dynpro for ABAP
I have installed NW04S Testdrive on 64bit Linux and able to login.
    SE80 is working alright.
Next I create a Web Dynpro Comp. / Intf. and create a component.
I double click on the View name "V_Default" . The Layout editor opens on the right side. Change into Edit Mode.
The "View Elements" panel on the left side of layout editor is missing. This is where we select the various elements like "Textview" etc.
Even the right click on the "ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER" to insert elements using context menu does not work.
In summary I am not able to add any element in WD4A Layout screen.
Is there any special plugin required to be installed?
    How to solve this problem?

you cannot develope Webdynpro for ABAP using ECC5
This is available with netweaver 2004s (WAS7.0) for which ramp up is going on right now and the general availability is expected sometime around 1st quarter for 2006.

    Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, the application is for work. So, I am not using the HR schema.
I was asked to evaluate the tool as part of a pilot effort to determine its usefulness.
So, I downloaded Oracle Essentials for the evaluation.
We do not have a support license.
I believe some modification of a View Object caused the issue.
The application was working great since I started using the tool a few weeks ago.
My hope is that the stack trace will provide enough information to understand the root cause and corrective action.

  • Hierarchy Viewer difference in behaviour between ADF 11.1.1.5 & 11.1.1.6

    Hi All,
We are having some problems with the Hierarchy Viewer and we were hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on this issue.
In ADF 11.1.1.5 we have used the attribute displayLevelsChildren which shows how many levels of children would be displayed (if those levels are available of course). We have assigned a value to a select one choice that would set those levels and allow for our user to customise this value and see the levels on right hand side.
You can see the behaviour that I am referring to in the following demo:
    http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/feature/hv/hvGroupNode.jspx
I know that this is an 11.1.2, but this has been the same demo for quite a while, when you change the Show Level on the left, the hierarchy viewer gets updated.
I have created a simple app that illustrates the problem, and when I run it under 11.1.1.5 it performs as expected, while when we run it on 11.1.1.6 it doesn't refresh the levels

    Hi,
the only change is that 11.1.1.6 supports HTML 5 rendering. So you may want to check if the rendering is in Flash or HTML5. If the rendering is in Flash and the mis-behavior shows then the only suggestion I can give is (in case you have a support contract) to file a service request with customer support

  • Hierarchy viewer - restart flash player

    Hi,
I have created a hierarchy viewer to see the connections between customers and when I start the app, the first time I see the hierarchy viewer I can see it correctly, like
    Parent
         Customer (Searched)
             Child
             Child
but when I want to see other customers hierarchy I can only see the Parent. I have to expand the tree to see the searched customer and, if has them, the childs.
Is there anyway to, lets say, restart Flash player so it presents the tree like it does initialy?
    Thanks
    I'm using jdev 11.1.1.7.1

  • ABAP Dump - Graphical Layout Editor

Hi...I get an ABAP Dump when I try to start the Graphical Layout Editor (to modify a screen layout). Here are a few lines from the dump:
    <b>&INCLUDE INCL_INSTALLATION_ERROR
    What happened?
The current program had to be terminated because of an error when installing the R/3 System. The program had already requested 789763632 bytes from the operating system with 'malloc' when the operating system reported after a further memory request that there was no more memory space available.
    What can you do?
Make a note of the actions and input which caused the error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion  date.
    Set the system profile parameters
    - abap/heap_area_dia
    - abap/heap_area_nondia to a maximum of 789763632. Then reduce the value by 10.000.000 to be on the  safe side.
    Then restart the SAP System.
    </b>
    <u>Here's what I know so far:</u>
<i>- I can logon to SAP but can NOT start Graphical Layout Editor from my machine using my user account.
    - Other people can logon to SAP but can NOT start Graphical Layout Editor from my machine using their user accounts.
    - I can logon to SAP and start Graphical Layout Editor from a DIFFERENT machine using my own user account.
    - Other people can logon to SAP and start Graphical Layout Editor from a DIFFERENT machine using their own account.</i>
I have access to more than one SAP systems (different SAP instances) and I have tested the following:
<i>- I can logon to a different SAP system/server (from this same machine) and start the Graphical Layout Editor without error.
    - Other people can logon to a different SAP system/server (from this same machine) and start the Graphical Layout Editor without error.</i>
The problem is not likely with low memory on my machine because I have 2 GB RAM whereas these other computers I've tested only have 512 MB or 1 GB memory. I don't see how the problem could be with the SAP server when other people are able to start the Graphical Layout Editor from their machines and even I can start it from their machines. The problem can't be with the SAPGUI files on my machine because I can start the Graphical Layout Editor using a different SAP system/server. I am completely stumped. Any ideas??

I have already done the following:
    - Uninstall SAP GUI using the "Add Remove Programs" & reinstall it
    - Uninstall SAP GUI using the option provided by SAPGUI setup & reinstall it
    - Uninstall SAP GUI using the option provided by SAPGUI setup & rename the folder "C:\Program Files\SAP" then install it again.
    - Upgrade from SAPGUI v6.40 to v7.10. I'm now using v7.10
Don't forget that I <b><u>am</u></b> able to start the Graphical Layout Editor for a different SAP server using this same SAPGUI from this same computer. I don't think the problem is with SAPGUI but I appreciate your response.

  • Runtime tab canvas does not look the same as designed in layout editor.

I created a tab canvas with the following physical properties:
    Corner Style - Chamfered
    Width Style - Variable
    Active Style - Bold
The canvas looks nice in the layout editor, with the above properties. However, at runtime, the tab canvas seems to ignore the above properties and instead shows up with non-chamfered looking (whatever chamfered means) fixed-width rectangular tabs and the active tab page label is not in bold font. Is there a runtime setting that I'm missing here?
    null

I am experiencing the exact same thing. The width of the tabs in the layout editor is varied depending on the length of the text. However, at run-time, the width of the tabs is fixed, causing the tabs to be wider than the window and a set of VCR buttons to appear in the upper right corner of the canvas. Personally, I think this is a Forms bug. Why would they intentionally let us set the width to variable at design-time only to force a fixed width at run-time?

  • 11.1.2 HTML Hierarchy Viewer, how?

    Hi,
first of all, 11.1.2 is great job Oracle, congrats! It really opens new possibilities for ADF.
That said, I don't understand how to render hierarchy viewer in html? The documentation states:
"By default, the hierarchy viewer component renders in a Flash Player. When Flash 10 or higher is not available on the client or for the purpose or printing, the hierarchy viewer is rendered in HTML."
I disabled flash and all I get is a note I should install it. What am I missing? Thanks.

    Hi Jernej,
HTML HV is available in 11.1.2.
You can configure the use of Flash content across the entire application by setting a flash-player-usage context parameter in adf-config.xml.
Please read this section in the doc:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16162_01/web.1112/e16181/ap_config.htm#BHCHJICG
You can use the "disabled" setting, or "downgrade" in a browser that doesn't have Flash player installed in order to see the HTML HV. It is also used for the printable page mode.
    Hope this helps

  • Problem with image in Hierarchy Viewer component

    Hi All,
I am using Hierarchy Viewer component in my application developed in Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0

    source="#{documentsService.latestReleasedVersionURL['UUCM#dDocName:#{node.EmpImage}']}"
    rendered="true"/>

    Timo,
It is supposed to pick up the image from the content server and display on the page.
I have tried the following, it worked.
    1) Checked in the image in the content server with content id : SAMPLE_IMG
    2) modified the code as
    <af:image id="img3"
    inlineStyle="border-color:Black; border-width:1px; width:85px;height:120px;"
    source="#{documentsService.latestReleasedVersionURL['UUCM#dDocName:SAMPLE_IMG']}"
    rendered="true"/>
Now that, I want to store the value "SAMPLE_IMG" in a field in a table, and want my application to pick up that value.

Actually, after a bit more checking I've found SAP note 962763 with more detail.
You do need Adobe LiveCycle Designer and can download the installer from SAP Service

    Entry by Application Group
    -> SAP NetWeaver
