Layout glitch on OID/names article page 1

Hi,
since I didn't find any "webmaster" or similar mail address, I'm posting this here:
I found a small but annoying layout error on the following page:
http://otn.oracle.com/products/oid/htdocs/namesmigration.html
The actual text of this article is pushed to the far right of the browser window, making it very hard to read. (I tried this in both Mozilla and Internet Explorer.)
It seems that there's one table column (i.e. one <TD>) too many just before the start of the article text.
The second page of that article (http://otn.oracle.com/products/oid/htdocs/namesmigration1.html) looks okay, though.

SAPscript layout -Repeating Main window in same page

Hi,
I have a requirement in sapscript layout to duplicate content within a page in two sections, of which the content can span across multiple pages.
Can anyone give an idea how this can be achieved.
This particular layout has 3 sections:
1st window (Top window): invoice Details (multiple items)
2nd window (Middle window): Check Details single item
3rd window (Bottom window): invoice Details (multiple items) {same content of the 1st window}
The invoice details can span across multiple pages.
Main window alone works perfect with the requirement.
I have attempted with a copy of a Main window for the 3rd window, and as it's specified it can only continue from the 1st main Window and i couldn't find a way to control it's value passing from the calling program.
I have also tried using a dynamic window for the 3rd window, but haven't worked to get the desired values shown across multiple pages. When it cross to a new page it repeats its last value across all pages.
Please help me with this. Thanks in Advance.

The Standard layout only prints the invoice details once.
If your existing layout prints invoice repeated, which means that already a customization is in place which repeats the invoice breakdown.
If the items are being repeated in the main window, it could be that the repetition customization is done on the calling program, then a solution could be to remove/comment that call in the calling program by searching text element name.
If the items are being repeated from a non-main window, then a solution could be to remove/comment the entire element in the non-main window.

Article page not displaying title

Hi,
I have a pages library with news articles. In edit mode, the title of the article is displayed, but when in read mode, the title is not visible. Any ideas of how I can make the title show up on the article?

Hi Sherazad,
According to your description, my understanding is that the title was not showing in the Article page.
Which page layout did you use to create the Article page?
I recommend to check if the PageTitle has been set to be hidden in the page layout which is used to create the Article page.
Did this issue occur with all other Article pages using the same page layout?
If not, please check if there is any custom code to hide the Title in the specific page.

Help needed very BAD, how to manage layout which is going to 2 pages

Hi all,
Need your help very bad. I am very new to reports.
I have a layout which goes to the second page. First page is a form layout (One record). I drew the form layout and placed all the fields in the form and works fine. But my problem is when I have 3 fields which are on the second page, because it doesnot fit in the first page. When I run it, the form (first page) get printed for all the records and the second page get printed only in the last at the end after printing all the records. How do I ask it to print it simultaneously. First page then the second page and so on. I set the PAGE BREAK AFTER to YES and still does not work.
Please guys need your help.

Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page

Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page? Not the homepages, I know there is a switch for that, but I thought there was one for the detail pages?
I want to disable this as I dont want users saving their own layouts, they must stick to the related sections defined in the default layout. The problem is that if they are to have access to certain related lists when an opportunity is of a certain type but NOT other types. If they have saved the layout (using the 'Edit Layout' link), and change the record type, they will see related sections that have been set to 'Not available' in the default layout (ie step 4) for that 'type'.

When I do the function, adobe saves the individual files as "<file name><space><page number>", so the files look like this "filename 1.pdf", "filename 2.pdf", "filename 3.pdf". Without too many gory details, I am using excel to concatenate some data to dynamically build a hyperlink to these extraced files. It casues me problems, however, for the space to be the the file name. Is there any way to change the default behavoir of this function to perhaps use a dash or underscore instead of a space?

No, you can't change the default naming scheme. You can do it yourself if you extract the pages using a script instead of using the built-in command.

How to display database name in page footer in webi report

I have migrated deski report from BO 6.5 to BI 4.1. and converted Deski to WEBI in 4.1.
In Bo 6.5 page footer displaying database name but BI 4.1 it showing database type (like Oracle 10g,9i ..etc..).
I want database name in page footer.

Query regarding Name format page for Portugal

We are PeopleTools 8.50 and Peoplesoft HRMS Application 9.0. We have implemented the e recruit module for different countries and I would like to know if a delivered name format page exists for Portugal such as NAME_PRT_SEC because I do not find it in the NAME_FORMAT_TBL or in my Application Designer. I can find such a corresponding name format page for every other country but not for Portugal.
We would need this information as our client wants the name formats to be displayed in Portuguese format when the user logs in Portuguese Portal.

Get your date in this format in XML.
YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss+HH:MM
Then there are lot of functions, you can apply on this to get the formatted date you wanted.

Is there a built in way to add your name and page number to each page in a pages document?

Hi Faynus! You can put it in the header or footer. Use Insert Page number in the menu. You need to have the insert point in the footer if you want it there. you can get the PAges User Guide by going to the menu > Help > Pages User Guide. YOu have the info about headers and footers there

I decided to build the majority of my website in flash. I.e. build different components (such as a calender) in flash and then I planned to import each component into dreamweaver on a seperate page and publish. The only trouble with this is that I have tried to link pages together using code in flash that goes to a specific web page. How do I name my webpages in dreamweaver so that it will go to that page.
E.g. I have created a link in a flash document to www.mywebsite.com/about - how do I name this page in dreamweaver so that it links to this page?

Unexpected error: unable to find item name at page or application level

HI!
I upgrade my application from apex 3.0 to 3.1
I created a new page.
When trying to insert a new row, on clicking "create", the page displays the error :
Unexpected error: unable to find item name at page or application level
This error didn't appear in apex 3.0
What this error can be? Is it a bug of APEX 3.1?

Bug: Before and After Margins Layout with section starting in right page

Hi,
I am using the Spanish version of Pages 09. I have observed that when I start a new section, I have no problems setting the layout margins (right, left, before, after) of this section.
But if a set that the new section must start in a right page, then the "before" and "after" margins of the layout doesn't work.
Is this the same in English versions of Pages?

I see what you are saying.
The problem is Pages seems to have a memory of how you arrived at that layout.
When I construct the pages, it is correct.
I am trying to find out what is interacting in your layout to cause this to happen. It is like there is a hidden inaccessible layout break on the blank inserted page.
I have been tearing my hair out trying to work out what triggers it off. As I experimented with the combinations of settings in Facing pages, Section layouts and which page it starts on, it erratically switches back and forth.
This is why I gave up on Pages years ago as a serious layout tool. It has too many of these raw, poorly thought out interactions. I use a lot of different applications and none of them, that I can think of, have so many of these mind twisting raw oddities. Odd for a supposed user friendly application.
All the rest are pretty literal, you apply the settings and end up with a logical result of those settings. If the result is not what you wanted it is a matter of tracking what is interacting with what and straightening it out. Pages has the annoying "design" of inexplicably greying out functions for no stated reason, that prevents correction. Or hiding the access to the tools to those settings. You can only get to some of them if you have explicitly done something to make them possible. The rules as to what that "something" is, are not apparent nor in most cases explained in the User Guide or the User Interface.
There may be a "reason" why the function is greyed out but it is not revealed to the user without an enormous amount of detective work and as in this case my sleuthing abilities are failing me completely. I might try it again tomorrow after a rest (it is very late here). Either way it is a huge time waster.
This is fundamentally bad User Interface design and what I have railed against since Apple changed shifts, bringing in the OSX programmers who never really got the polished UI of the original Mac OS and have been cooking with Fanta* ever since.

Can long names in Pages be shown?

Is there a way to get long document names to show the whole name in pages? when you are selecting old documents it will not show the whole name on some documents... this is very anoying, especailly since i have to name certin documents with long names for work...

Where doesn't it show? In the Finder? On the Desktop? It isn't a Pages problem per sei.

Where do you want to add this? So it appears on the pages? If so, then look into using the Section marker or Section Prefix features.
