Layout Guides in Pages 5.0

I opened a document in the new Pages, after I upgraded to Mavericks and its corresponding apps.  First of all, there appears to be a LOT of features missing.  It seems the Mac version has been downscaled to act like an IOS version.  However, that is not the point of this post.
I like being able to view the layout guides (as in former versions of Pages).  The option is still on the "View" menu under "Show Layout."  However, nothing changes when it is selected.  There is no way to activate the guides.
The document that I am currently working on, is already changed to the new format and I cannot open it in the 4.3 version of Pages.  So, I'll have to keep working with it on this document.  However, unless I can get the guides back, I will revert back to the older version before I open any more documents.
Is there a way to get the guides to show?
Thanks.

I also am shocked and very disappointed. Normally when you get an upgraded version, it should be at least equal to or better than the previous version. When Pages came out, I was so impressed. I was using In-Design for my page layout program. I found Pages was almost as good, but so much easier to use. I switched.
The big change now I see is that in Pages 09, v 4.3, when you started a new project, you were able to select a Word Processing Form, or a Page Layout Form. Now is seems that it is only a word processing program that lets you move some graphics around. They are copying Word more that being a Page Layout program.
Where is the Left Ruler, How can you pull your guides in to show you the printable area. The guides were so handy to show the center of the page. So handy to line up pictures, text, etc.
I also have problems when I copy and paste from PDF's. Now when I print, the resolution is so bad you would think I was pasting a tiff picture.
I have hundreds of floor-plans I had designed in pages, fortunately I only opened a few and saved in the new version. I have found Pages O9 in my application folder and have deleted the new version.
This is sad, I hope I am not seeing an Apple trend of under proforming. I am still disappointed that they deleted the support for iWeb, and Mobile Me. Before you could design something in Pages. Copy it and paste it in iWeb and have it posted on your Web-site in minutes. Once Apple makes you leave their company and go out side to look for a product to satisify a need they once provided, the more likely you are to continue looking at other products.

  • How to remove the Personalize link from the table layout displayed on Page.

    While i create a new page and a table layout is created on this page it displays a link called Personalize this table. For every table i create the same is displayed.
    If 10 such table layouts are there i get personalize options on all such 10 layouts on same page.
    If anyone of u knows @ this please help me out how to remove that link from the page.

    You can set the value for the profile FND: Personalization Region Link Enabled / FND_PERSONALIZATION_REGION_LINK_ENABLED to No.

    I downloaded Dreamweaver CC 2014.1, started using it but cannot find Show Fluid Grid Layout Guides button, Resize LI.link sizing handle and 'move up a Row' arrow. Where can I find them?

    You have the latest version (CC 2014.1 or 2014.1.1) in which the interface condenses Design View with Live View buttons in normal layouts.  See screenshot.
    However, in FGLayouts, Live View is the only option which poses some editing problems and has been highly criticized.
    Is there any way to display the Design View in fluid grid pages?

    You can disable this restriction by adding an X to the FGLayout CSS.

    Having said that, it might just  be simpler to revert to an earlier version.  Log-in to Creative Cloud Desktop app.  Go to Filters & Versions > Previous Version.  See screenshot.

  • View enable and disable dynamically in Guided activity page

    Hi Team,
    I have created a GP and it contains 2 views inside a Guided activity page.
    Here the issue is I need to show both the views but I should be able to disable any one of the view dynamically.
    Note:
    As I said earlier it should not disappear. It should just be disabled.
    I have tried using do config determination with different configurations but it is making the views disappear.
    Especially the first view...!
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Mahesh Pusala

    Hello Mahesh,
    You can check below methods in _IMPL class of the over view page.
    DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS: to hide any view
    REATTACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS : to display the view
    for hiding the view delete the view entry from the internal table " rt_return" in the "DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS" method.
    to show a view add the view name including component name to the "rt_return" table in "REATTACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS" method.
    hope this helps you.

  • Unable to see layout design in page editor

    I am using JDeveloper version 11.1.2.0.0.
    I downloaded the hands-on practices from the site Tuhra2 – Sample application for the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook.
    When I open the jspx files under Web Content, the visual design does not show up in the Design tab, instead I can only see the tags in text form.
    What can I do to see the visual layout of the page?

    I'm having same strange behavior.
    Before my JDeveloper 11g R2 Design Page work OK. Than I checkout application from SVN to another folder in FS (my JDev was closed meanwhile). I opened JDev and closed "old" app and open "new" (from that different folder) app and my Visual Design Page Editor does not work well (it is rendering well unusual with some kind of structure view).
    I have checkouted my app on another computer which has JDev installed in designer works ok. So obviously this is not app-based issue but JDev-vbased issue. What now?
    And if I enable Tools -> Preferences -> JSP and HTML Visual Editor -> Show Design Time Messages in Log I'm getting:
    WARNING: [ADFbc, ADFc, ADFm, ADF_FACES, TRINIDAD] features were found in ViewController.jpr but are not installed. Install these technologies before you proceed.Edited by: zmeda on Sep 1, 2011 11:55 AM Added WARNING

  • How do I get the layout guides (A,B,C column headers and 1,2,3 Row Headers) to print with my spreadsheet?

    How do I get the Layout Guides (A,B,C column headers and 1,2,3 Row Headers) to print on my spreadsheet? They are invaluable for discussing the data with my clients over the phone.
    They appear while I am editing, but don't print with the spreadsheet. I know how to do it in Excel, but I am transitioning to Numbers. I can't imagine I have to type them into their own columns and rows. It must be a difference in vernacular that I can't find the solution in the User Guide. Can anyone help?

    Hi ktjobauer,
    Numbers is not Excel and Excel is not Numbers. Numbers is WYSIWYG (at least in File > Print and the actual printout).
    I can't imagine I have to type them into their own columns and rows.
    No, you don't. You can use the charm of Numbers to create cell references for your Excel clients.
    In this Numbers Table, I have added some extra Columns that you can hide later.
    Column B =COLUMN(A2)
    Column C =HLOOKUP(B2,'Table 1-1' :: $1:$2,2,FALSE)      [explanation later]
    Column D =ROW(B2)
    Column E =C2&D2
    Add those formulas to the first Body Row (below the Header Row) and Fill Down.
    Column C refers to another Table which you need only create once, to convert a Column number to a letter:
    and so on from 1-26, A-Z.
    You can move the second Table to another Sheet to hide it. Formulas will automatically adjust to keep the links between Sheets.
    Now in the first Table, select and Hide Columns B,C,D. Formulas will continue to work with hidden cells:

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    Open iPhoto.

  • IWeb page layout vs. internet page layout

    Hello, can anyone explain to me why when I adjust the layout of my pages in iWeb they begin to be cropped when moved past the layout borders, yet when I upload them for internet browsing they are centered with a vast amount of room on either side of the page?
    I.E. it seems as though my iWeb pages aren't filling the entire browser window once uploaded. Is this standard and can this be adjusted?
    Thanks in advance!

    When creating a new page iWeb, the default settings for page size is 700 px X 480 px. That can be adjusted via the Inspector under Page Layout. I use 1000 x 480 to give me more room.
    I suppose you could go wider, but I believe my choice to be appropriate for most monitors out there today.
    I've been on some friend's PCs that are 17 inchers and they have trouble viewing my page in its entirety. I can only image what the old timers are seeing.

    Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book.
    As far as I can see I have placed pictures on all the pages. I admit that on some pages I could have placed 3 or 4 pictures but I chose to use ony one or two. Could that be the problem?

    Yes -
    Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book.
    The error seems pretty clear - you must have a photo in evey photo frame in order to place your order - so you must either change the layout (if you only want one photo on a page then use a layout with one photo) or put photos in the spots you have not filled

  • Adding a Layout to a Page NOT as DL (via API)

    Hi everybody,
    I have added layouts to a page, but at my customer, there are page where layouts are added not as delta links, but as copies (DL state = -1). At these pages, I'm trying to do the same with new layouts to add:
    layoutToAdd = (INewObjectDescriptor) iViewSrv.instantiateDescriptor
        (CreateMethod.NEW, newLayoutPath, user);
    page.addLayout(layoutToAdd, newLytID);
    This leads to a strange result: The object added is interpreted by the PCD as -- iView! Not as a layout! The same operation works like a charm if I use CreateMethod.DELTA_LINK.
    I would consider this being a bug, and maybe will open an OSS message about it, anyhow, we need a solution quite fast, so maybe there is someone outside knowing an ad hoc workaround...?!
    Thanks in advance
    Detlev

    Hi Praveen,
    Hm, I should have checked this by my own...
    Anyhow, I have been aware of this strange combination, but (a) as it is documented the way I used it and (b) as it did work for delta links, I forgot that...
    I will open an OSS message to get the documentation http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a6/ce9d4207e1c86ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm corrected.
    Thanks!!!

    My apologies, I am trying to fix my mistake right now, but if someone could help me out, the sooner the better.  I accidentally deleted the Beginner's Guide wiki page, trying to add my own edit.  Will post back when I get it back to the last revision.

    It seems like everybody and their hot sister heard of this Beranger person except me
    Update: can't say I checked any of his older posts but I guess I've seen part of his 'dumping linux' blog post -- most likely the one that 'angried' people and said sisters. I can only ask myself: what the big deal is? Who actually cares? Personally I never understood blogs nor the need to have them .. but it was my opinion that these unfortunate inventions were supposed to be destined for your friends (+sisters) to read. So I can't understand this: why does anybody else in the world -- care -- about what that guy uses/doesn't use? What makes him so important / such a(n) hero.

    Can I make fixed layout epub on pages?

    You would have to do a lot of modification to the epub output produced by Pages.  Do a google search on "fixed layout epub" to find info on how it is done.  E.g.

  • How do I turn off fluid grid layout guides in CC?

    In CS6 it was simple: just go to View > Visual Aids and uncheck "Fluid grid layout guides" In CC that option is not there. And I can't seem to find it. So how do I turn off fluid grid layout guides in CC?

    AFAIK, There is no option for you to turn off just FG Layout Guides in DW CC (for now).
    However, you can hide the guides with just 1 click. See screenshot below:
    This button toggles FG View. Disabling it will hide the FG guides that you see on screen.

  • Fluid grid layout guides and elements are suddenly gone

    I’m working in Dreamweaver CC and trying to build a fluid grid layout from scratch.  Everything works fine for a while then I notice that suddenly all the grid guides are gone, the icon (next to the “Live” button) that allows me to toggle the fluid grid guides on and off is gone, and when I try to insert a new div tag…(within the "gridContainer clearfix" tag),  the dialog box that opens does not have the option to “insert as fluid element.” Even when I click within a div in my page, the usual options that surround the div are gone as well. It’s as if Dreamweaver doesn’t recognize the page as a fluid grid layout, but when I preview the html, it is still responsive and looks like it is supposed to.
    Does anyone know what could’ve changed that might cause this?
    I even called Adobe and the tech support guy told me they are not trained in CSS and could not help me. I would think Adobe would be familiar with CSS… right?
    If anyone has any suggestions that would be great?

    The only template files I changed were the main css that I specify when creating a new FG layout.
    I changed this for all three devices within the "style.css" page:
    /* Tablet Layout: 481px to 768px. Inherits styles from: Mobile Layout. */
    @media only screen and (min-width: 481px) {
    .gridContainer {
    width: 100%;  (this is is what I changed on the mobile, tablet and desktop settings)
    padding-left: 0.95%;
    padding-right: 0.95%;
    clear: none;
    float: none;
    margin-left: auto;
    This the dialog box I get when trying to insert a new div (it used to ask me to insert "As a fluid element"
