Layout in PSE 11 (swedish)

I recently upgraded from PSE9.
When I was working with three or more photos and wanted to compare two of them, side by side, it functioned.
When I want to do the same in PSE11 it does not. I want to compare the two car photos but all three are shown. (See dump)
What have I missed?

This is something that I would do.
First go to preferences and check "allow floating documents in the Expert mode" and "enable floating document window docking"
Change my layout to "Default" so that all my images are stacked together
Drag one of the photos I want to compare out of the stack
Try docking the image to the left hand side of the document window, just at the right end of the tool bar
Select the second image from the stack so that both my images to compare are visible side by side

  • Customizing Layout in PSE Make Photo Creation

I have PSE 5.0. I go into the Make Photo Creation. I create a scrapbook page using the specified layouts. I can drop and drag my photos into the layouts. Is it possible to create/customize a layout and save in PSE so that it will pull up under the layouts so that I can drop and drag. I use some of my layouts over and over and have to recreate size, etc, everytime. Looking to create my own layouts for PSE to allow me to drop and drag.

How do you add the template to the photo layout section so that I call pull up my template in the layout.
    Currently, I click on:
    -Create
    -Photo Layout
    -Then, I select 8.5X11 size
-Then, select layout. I want to add my layout to this section so that it appears in this box.
    Thanks

  • How to use layouts in PSE 13?

HI! I used to have PSE 8 and I love to create collages. There I could resize the size and rotate the canvas and select different frames but sadly PSE 13 has one choice for collages and it doesn't let me resize the canvas on my desire size (8x10 size). when I have the collage open on the bottom right hand side says "layouts" and when I choose one it doesn't let me resize it or rotate. i am very sad about this. Can you help me find a way that will give me more choices in regards of collages? Thanks!

PSE 13 is different from PSE 8 in that there is not a thing you can do to a collage in Create that you can't do better and more easily in the regular editor. Just create a blank file the size and resolution you want, get out the graphics panel, and have at it.

  • Default layout in PSE 12 editor

I prefer to open photos in default layout rather than as floating window. It was so in PSE9 - now I still have it "floating" and then need to change it manually. Any idea to make default really default?

Thank you very much and sorry that it was so simple Really haven't seen it...

  • Help with screen layout in PSE 12

Is there anyway to adjust the screen layout in PSE12? I really don't like how the task bars are at the bottom and the panel on the left can't be locked to show the effects window and the layers pallete. All these extra mouse clicks to open and close things is so cumbersome.

You can’t change the tools pallet or tool options but you can hide or show the tool options. It is possible to arrange the right hand panel to your own liking. Simply click the more button (bottom right) to customize.
I have mine arranged in two sets of tabs, being the panels I use most (see image below)
    Histogram, Actions, Navigator, and History
    Layers, Effects, Graphics, and Favorites
Click on Window on the top menu to select those you need and you can drag the tabs apart and re-arrange them as you wish. They should remain fixed.

  • About buying PSE 9...

    To cut things short,
I came across PSE8 by chance, I had just heard about it in som photo magazine, and I was happy to find the Trial download and after using it I was rapidly searching for good price on it and wanting to buy it. But I discovered that version 9 was about to come out.
Now I have 6 days left on the trial and not until mid October there will be an swedish version out. I'm thinking about installing CS5 trial to get 30 days with it and maybe the english PSE9 trial to further get 30 days before I buy the swedish version 9...
I don't see and easy way to change language in PSE, and I'm afraid that if I buy the english version I won't be able to switch over to swedish, which is very strange - all other software lets you switch easy, I don't know why it is soo hard in PS...
In this jumble of installed versions and soo on, there might arise problems, that I am afraid of, will I be able to install the PSE 9 swedish and uninstall the english trial/CS5 trial and PSE8 trial and get everything allright? Is there an easy way to buy the english PSE9 now and simply switch to swedish later?

    Allright!
And all my Organizer work stays if I uninstall Trial 8 and after that install CS5 Trial? (I have made a lot of Organizer work creating albums by date and motif soo I don't want to loose it - and the backup backups all the photos and I don't want to do that, I handle backups of my photos and videos (30GB) another way. I wish there were an backup of Organizer albums and structure then I would be safe and sure, maybe i can understand that the structure of albums in Organizer is one of those Shared files/catalogs that does not uninstall when the PSE8 Trial i uninstalled, but I would like to be reassured about it)

  • Customizing Picture Package Layouts

Is there a way to customize Picture Package Layouts in PSE 10?  I have one image that I want to print 1in x 1in and completely fill a letter size sheet with that same image.  Or, is there a way to tell PSE 10 to print out the one image 56 (or however many) times on the page and it would size it automatically?  Either would work.  Thanks!

    Readme.txt for the layouts:
    Good luck!
; This is the documentation for the Picture Packager layout files.
; Each layout file details the page size and image drop locations for one resulting document.
; The layout files can contain comments.
    ; A comment is any line that starts with a semi-colon ';'.
; The semi-colon must be the first character on the line.
; Blank lines are also allowed, and are ignored.
; There are 3 types of information that must be present in each layout file:
; 1) the units and page size
; 2) the description text that is displayed in the dialog
    ; 3) the layout specs
; As an example to work from, look at the file 'FiveBySevens.txt'. The contents are here also:
    ;    I 8 10
    ;    (2)5x7
    ;    0.5 0 7 5
    ;    0.5 5 7 5
    ; 1) the units and page size 'I 8 10'
; The 3 three fields on line 1 are: units, width and height
; You can enter inches, pixels or centimeters. All the numbers in a single file must be the same units.
    ; For inches, use i or I.
    ; For pixels, use p or P.
    ; For centimeters, use c or C.
; 2) the description text that is displayed in the dialog '(2) 5 x 7'
; The 1 field on line 2 is the text description shown in the Layout: menu choice on the dialog.
; This can be any text you want, up to 75 characters long.
    ; 3) the layout specs '0.5 0 7 5' and '0.5 5 7 5'
; Each line is one drop location for the image. You can have up to 50 drop locations per page.
; The 4 fields are x position, y position, width, and height.
; Remember, the units must match what you used for the page size in line 1.
; So, in summary, the example tells the plugin that all the numbers are entered in inches,
; the resulting document is to be 8 inches wide, 10 inches high, and will have 2 images on it.
; The first image will be located at 1/2 inch from the left edge, and at the very top of the document,
; and will be 7 inches wide, 5 inches high. The second image will be located 1/2 inch from the left edge
; 5 inces from the top edge, and will be 7 inches wide, 5 inches high.

  • PSE 6 Desktop on Laptop

I recently upgraded to PSE 6 from PSE 5.
I run XP Media Center on a laptop I bought earlier this year.
I've noticed the 'desktop' in PSE 6 is very gray compared to the layout with PSE 5. Which seemed to have more colors and contrast.
I'm having some trouble finding some things as easily as I did with PSE 5.
For example the 'File, Edit, Image...' menus sometimes almost disappear if my laptop screen is in a certain position.
Another place I seem to have a lot of trouble is with the bar directly under File/Edit/Image where the selected tool settings appear. The options on this bar are frequently hard to find.
I was wondering if there might be some controls in PSE 6 that I could change?
Maybe something like 'use color desktop' or 'use large fonts for text'.
I have read that lcd TV's sometimes have trouble rendering grays and blacks as well as they do colors. So perhaps there is something I might be able to change on my laptop display that would make things easier.
    Any suggestions would be appreciatted.

    Thanks, Barbara.
I suspected that might be the answer.
Maybe I will get used to it after working with it for a while longer.
I don't have a separate monitor. Just the display on my laptop.
Which has worked fine for all my applications including PSE 5.

  • Captions typed in Organizer, Is there a command to have them automatically added in document?

Is there a way to have the captions that I typed in Organizer
print under the photo when I put them in Photoshop Elements?  or do I have to  type it in text again?   Photo Collage has a
box you check for it to include captions automatically but I am not finding one when I create a blank
file and start from scratch in Photoshop elements.  Printing six pictues on my home printer for a scrap book.

from your presvious thread, I think that you are running PSE 8 and that may be relevant to this discussion.
Also, I suspect that no one replied to your earlier post because there probably is not a method to do what you wish - automatically including the Captions when you start by creating a blank file and then add photo files.
So I suspect that you will need to use the PSE edit Text Tool to add the contents of the caption field on top of or below your photos.
Therefore, if you wish to save time you might wish to examine the Collage and Photobook layouts again to determine if any choices are sufficiently close to what you want.
--- Another alternative would be if someone or some web site is distributing additional layouts for PSE 8 - perhaps someone else on this forum will know.
--- you might also post a question about additional possible layouts with captions over on the elements village forums at
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/index.php

  • I can´t get @ to work at my new Mac mini

    Hi
I just bought and installed everything on my new Mac Mini 2012 from my old iMac and I chose Swedish as my language.
    My OS is Mavericks
I also connected my apple keyboard and everything works OK.
Except that when I try to write a e-mail.
I can´t write @ instead a get "TM" from holding down the alt-key and the other key (nr 2 key)
The keyboard works perfect with my old iMac.
Does anybody have a clue what I should do to get @ to work.
Maybe a Swede will know what happened ?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers
    Hans
Ps. This was not written from my Mac mini  :-)

You need go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and use the plus and add buttons to activate the Swedish Pro keyboard and then select that one in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen.  Apple keyboards are printed with the Swedish Pro layout  (and not the "Swedish" one).

  • PSE7 Monitor Profile woes (Huey Pro)

So, I finally upgraded to PSE7 from PSE2 to addresses issues I was having with the Huey Pro from Pantone.  Basically, if I calibrate the monitor, the colors look great everywhere (incl. other color managed programs) except in Photoshop - they look almost inverted (skin tones are bright magenta, etc).  If I kill the Huey pro sw and revert to a previous monitor profile, all is well.  If I turn off color management in PSE7, the screen looks fine, but I give up color management.  I've tried disabling the startup programs, etc. to no avail.  Obviously, upgrading didn't help, as I'm posting here.
I'm starting to think the monitor profile is being applied twice, but the color settings in PSE are so basic, it's really difficult to tell what it's doing.
I'm running out of ideas, and really like the print layouts that PSE offers, but need color management... anyone seen this?  Ideas?
    {Windows XP, NVidia 8800GT, Intel Quad Core}
    Thanks for looking!

If there were a general problem between Huey's and PSE, I think we'd see more reports here or at Elements Village.  So that suggests a problem with your particular configuration.
To see if it's specific to PSE independent of Huey's, try PSE with other display profiles.  In the Color Control Panel applet, select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as the default profile for your display.  Do colors in PSE look reasonable?  Does your display have a color profile supplied by its manufacturer?  Many do -- look on its Web site.  Does PSE produce reasonable color with that profile set as the default?
If it does, then that suggests that PSE's handling of display profiles works in general and that it's something specific to Huey's.
To see if it's specific to Huey's independent of PSE, you've already tried other color-managed programs.  Note that Firefox 3 is color-managed only if you set some specific options -- by default, I don't believe it is.  You could try downloading Microsoft's Windows Live Photo Gallery -- based on knowledge base articles, it seems that WLPG is pretty sensitive to non-standard color profiles.   See if WLPG works with the Huey profile.

  • PSE 11 New layout - too far the opposite direction?

I have been a long time user of Photoshop Elements, I think since version 2 or 3. I went from 6 to 10 earlier this year and have been working with a Trail version of 11 for a few days now. Overall, I like it, but like so many companies do, when they address a major concern of a large group of customers, they go too far in the opposite direction.
Two major complaints about PSE up through 10 are that it is A) too dark and B) the control icons/text are too small and difficult to see. This is mostly a complaint of the visually impaired. (Which is an interesting side-discussion, given that photography is a visual art).
Although I liked the dark layout, I tended to agre with most users about the latter complaint. The icons and text were difficult to see even for people with good vision. With PSE 11, I see the exact opposite, the layout is too bright for my tastes. After all, the purpose of this software is to work with images. A dark layout lets me focus on the image itself, and not be distracted by the controls.
That much I can adapt to, but the bigger problem is the screen real estate taken up by the Tool Options. It's HUGE! Especially when working with images in a vertical format, which represent a significant percentage of my images. For example I love to play around with vertical panoramas, an often overlooked way to capture a scene such as tall trees, buildings, etc.
I am finding myself constatnly havign to toggle back and forth between the Tool Options bar, and even with the F4 keyboard shortcut, it's a pain in the butt.
So... my opinion is that Adobe fixed a couple big problems for a lot of users but went too far and created a different set of problems for many other users. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
What I'd like to see are some different solutions:
First of all, I'd like to see an option between dark and light layouts. Let users decide. Kinda like making the program skinnable, but not all that many options are needed.
Or... how about an auto-dimming feature? When the mouse is hovered over the image area, while working with the various tools, automatically dim the surrounding panels and menu bars. Then, when you move over the panels and menus, they would return to normal.
Second, find a better solution to the Tool Options bar. Either make it A) moveable, like the other panels, B) resizeable, or C) auto-hide it.
At this point, I've almost decided that the size of that Tool Options Bar is a deal breaker and I won't upgrade. Vertical real estate is hard enough to find on computer monitors and Adobe took up 25% of what little I had. I'll wait for a future version to see if they take it back the other way.

True, and I have that option enabled. Given that I need to use the Tool options, primarily Crop, with different settings on each individual image, I am finding myself opening and closing the options bar constantly. I have two options: have it pop up when I don't want it to, or I have to open it when I want it, then close it afterward. Either way, the resulting workflow is tiresome at best.

  • Photomerge Panorama in PSE 6 - Interactive Layout not completing

I'm attempting to merge ten photos into a panorama using Photoshop Elements 6.0 on Windows Vista, and am having some problems. At first, I tried to merge the photos using the Auto Layout function; while this option completed, Elements wasn't able to line the photos up correctly, and I couldn't figure out a way to move the photos around using the Auto Layout function. So, I started over and tried to merge them using the Interactive Layout function. The screen comes up to allow me to move the photos around and line them up, after which I hit "OK" to merge them together. The process appears to start working, with a pop-up box coming up telling me that PSE is erasing holes and transforming, and I can see the different pics being aligned correctly in the different layers for the photo. Once all of the layers are layed out correctly, PSE says it is blending selected layers based on content, and the status bar gets to around 50% done, then the merge just stops. No error message, no more layers...nothing. Is there a timeout that's happening, causing the "blending selected layers..." action to just stop? It's running for around a minute or so before it stops.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've tried to do complete this merge close to ten times now, with no luck. Thanks for your help.

Photomerge PS5 was not working on my laptop but OK on on my desktop
So I found a fix by comparing Photoshop preferences:
    > Edit > Preferences > Units & Rulers
Change Rulers to cm (or maybe inches or something elese, but NOT percent)
    > OK, restart PhotoShop
    And miraculously, Photomerge worked again!
This bug is probably noy fixed in PS6, so this may well be your problem...

  • PSE 7.0 and print layout with picture package

I was used to PSE 2.0 where you could have your own print layouts sitting in a *.txt file. All you need was to make this txt file and specify in it:
the unit (inch or cm) to use
the width and height of the print area
and for each image the coordinates of the leftupper corner and the width and height of that image.
Is there a anything like it in PSE 7.0?
All I can find is printing a picturepackage and some "hardcoded" lay outs.
I like to make my own layouts.
    How to do this.

    Yes I did restart PSE7.
    but that did not help
I also tried to remove all  the present llayout-text files except my own, then there was NOTHING to chose from!
So her is one of the layout text file that I use with PSE2 and it is working, when I select paper size A4
    C  21  21
    A4 (3)  10.5  10.5 cm
    0  0 10.5  10.5
    10.5  5.2  10.5  10.5
    0  10.5  10.5  10.5
That txt file did not show in the dropdown select layout,(setting paper size A4  or Letter)
I tried the following txt file, setting papersize Letter
    with the same result
    I  8.5  11.0
    Letter (3)  10.5x10.5 cm
    0  0  4.1  4.1
    4.1  2.0 4.1  4.1
    0  4.1 4.1  4.1
Since there are no (error) messages I do not understand the criteria to meet for showing this layout in the select dropdown list.
