Layout problems in Internet Explorer 7

Sorry, not sure how this got posted twice...and I don't know
how to delete it.
I created this site awhile back (link below) and everything
worked fine in various browsers. But someone just pointed out that
there is a glitch when viewing with IE7. The navigation in the left
vertical area (an SSI) is not only off center but seems to straddle
the lines of the table cells. How is this possible? Does anyone see
any problem with the code? It looks like IE7 is at "release
candidate 1" stage, which I assume means it's pretty much the way
it's going to work.
Here's the link to the actual site:

Here's the link to a screen shot of what it looks like it

Thanks for any info you can give.

  • Java Applet Background Color Problem on Internet Explorer

    Hi,
    Please check out the following URL:
    http://www.utopiainteractive.com/clients/AkonFinal/glossary.htm
    The menu bar is writting in Java Applet. If you scroll down the page, and scroll back up, I see white background as I scroll back up. It happens only on Internet explorer. Neither Java Applet nor HTML Body bg color is white. I am kinda lost, and any help would really be appreciated.
    Thank you and look forward to hearing from someone soon.

    Hi,
    Well I used HtmlConver utility to generate applet html code, so I assume nothing is wrong with Object tag. Do you know what could cause this problem on Internet explorer? To be honest, I spent last couple of days, but I am just lost. It absolutely works fine on Netscape.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

    Hi efacg,
    Most printing issues are solved by resetting the Printing preferences. When you print from Firefox and you click on the down arrow, do you see Defualt and Firefox? Please make changes to the preferences here and preview the document.
    If this continues to be an issue please also see [[Fix printing problems in Firefox]]
    If there are any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask, we are here to help.

  • Printer print size is very small. Do not have this problem with Internet explorer.

    When I try to print something in Firefox, the printer print size is extremely small. I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer.

    File > Page Setup - '''Scale''' <br />
    100% or Shrink to Fit is usually best.

  • Float layout causing problems in internet explorer 5, 5.5 and 6

    Hi everyone,
    I have a 3-column floated fixed width layout. The right
    column contains a form in the lower section. The columns are all
    okay in most browsers but when I test in internet explorer 5, 5.5
    and 6, the right column drops below the layout. When I tried to
    troubleshoot, I found that if I took the form out of the right
    column altogether then the right column would sit where it's
    suppose to.
    I don't know whether it's a float bug that's causing the
    problem in these versions of IE or something else. Could someone
    take a look and see what might be happening?
    The address is:

    Thanks for any help offered.

    I would strongly advice you to completely uninstall JSE/JDK 5.0 UPDATE 6
    from you system and install JSE/JDK 5.0 UPDATE 5 or earlier (which you know works with your system)!! There is a major problem with this UPDATE 6 which just came out!! I believe it might be a security related issue! But there is definely a conflict going on with IE 6.0 SP1 and Firefox 1.5!! This update doesn't like something in our operating system!! we have the latest security updates on our computer!!
    Abit Motherboard AS8 with audio card and network card enabled. Windows 2k sp4 with rollup update 1 v.2 and a hardware firewall installed!!
    Our audio card screams when you go to some sites that have audiostreaming plugin on there site which uses javascript to play!! I AM NOW USING JSE 5.0 UPDATE 5 and it works great!!
    IE crashes and Mozilla Firefox 1.5 crashes!! I told Sun Systems about Update 6 and haven't gotten a reply from them yet!!

  • Spry menu problems with Internet explorer

    Hi everyone
    I'm having ongoing problems with my horizontal menus and
    internet explorer. They work fine in other browsers and with the
    generous help of others at these forums I've managed to sort out
    most of the problems. But I've hit a real wall with this one. The
    menus drop down showing the links OK but you cannot highlight or
    click on the options that drop down, they just appear as text. Any
    help would be appretiated. My appologies for posting in other
    threads also but just hoping for a response.
    I am very new to this side of design so simple answers would
    be very helpful. Thanks
    Bob

    I have 2 similar problems to the prior posts:
    1) I run IE7 and FF and the positioning of my submenus are
    skewed in IE only.
    2) I am not sure, but I believe I have a problem with my
    iframe appearing in my IE7 browser behind all of my submenus. Well,
    I know I have a problem with something, but whether or not it's the
    iframe I don't know. What I do know is that the box shows up like a
    border around my submenus and I can't get rid of it. I suspect that
    it may be caused by the fact that my menu buttons are imported
    gif's in the shape of rounded rectangles which allows for the
    corners to be visible. I actually just thought about it and my
    gif's are set to have a white index transparency, but maybe If I
    export the gifs without transparency, then that issue will be
    resolved. Well I will try that part and see, but any and all
    suggestions are welcome. Oh and I just remembered, that problem
    with the border around my submenus also has another problem with
    the word "false" inside of that border behind my submenus. This
    problem again is only in my IE browser, and it is hard to see it,
    but I have no idea why that is there or what it's from. I ran a
    search in my SpryMenuHorizontal.css page and in my html page for
    the word 'false' but nothing turned up. The only document related
    to this issue that contains the word 'false' is the
    'SpryMenuBar.js' document.

  • Preview problem in Internet Explorer

    So I was building a website using CS6. So far so good, however problems arise when I preview them.
    The website looks exactly what I wanted in Dremaweaver's Live View and Google Chrome. But in Internet Explorer, there are a few problems;
    (these problems do not occur at the same time, they occur at different version of Windows but all using IE)
    1 The bottom of the webpage is not fully shown. There should be a footer <div> which can be seen in Live View and Chrome however not in IE. It looks as if you are printing something and it just stopped halfway.
    2 In my webpage there are rollover images which glow when your mouse moves over them. A border appears around the images in IE but not in Live View or Chrome.
    Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

    It turns out my parents had set the text size in Internet Explorer to 'Largest' as a result the footer <div> can't be seen. Once changed back to 'Medium' the footer <div> is visible again. So the first case is solved but still thanks for the guidance given.
    Just be aware that others besides your parents will also want to use Largest. If your site layout breaks when this setting is chosen, then you might want to reconsider the layout. Increasing text size by one tick in Safari on my Mac causes the footer to drop below the bottom of the screen without a scrollbar.
    I suspect that you might want to do two things to eliminate this problem:
    1. Remove the overflow:hidden style (why are you using that?)
    2. Remote the max-height style (why are you using that?)
    Both of these styles are applied to the div#container element.

  • Problems in Internet explorer

    Hi guys. I got a problem. I published my site and for the mostpart it looks fine on my mac. But when I go to my pc and check my page on Internet explorer....all the textboxes and pictures and basically everything on the site has these outlines over them. Meaning I have a textbox and instead of just being a textbox....it has a line around the border and the name text is doubled but in a smaller font. Why does this happen? Does anyone know?

    I did a bit of ferreting around and the link is actually

  • Can't get into talk talk email account in Mozilla, you have undefined new mails in your inbox message. No problem with Internet Explorer though

    I've been using the Firefox browser for nearly a year now but for the past three days I can't open my tiscali email account via Firefox. The message "you have undefined new mails in your inbox" comes up. Talk Talk technical help says there is a problem with Firefox and advised me to use Internet Explorer. I can get into my account through Explorer but would much prefer to use Firefox so please help me out.

    Apparently TalkTalk mail will work with Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 ''if'' you set the browser to ''lie'' to TalkTalk mail by saying that you are still using version 3.6.
    You can find the instructions for that in a post on the TalkTalk forums: [http://www.talktalk.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=185113#post2452787 Firefox 4 & TalkTalk webmail - Forums].
    Note: when you open about:config the first time, it will display a warning message that you should be careful with the changes you make. That's definitely good to bear in mind.
    Does it work?

  • Why are my PDF files so big when I open them or when I print them out? I only see and print half of the document, didn't have any problem on internet explorer

    I was trying to print something from the internet and when I did what came out was half of the document. What should have been printed in 1 sheet of paper was printed in 2 and it was only half of the document because the letters and images were too large.
    I noticed that when I saved the document from the Internet to my folder the document was in half. I tried to save it again but it didn't work. I tried to fix the printer to see if that was the reason but still I continued to see only half of the document. I tried printing again but still the same thing happened.
    I thought it was a problem with my printer but then I remembered that the same thing happened with other PDFs files. I then tried the same thing on Internet Explorer and when I saved the document I saved the whole document not only half of it and the letters and images where not large like when I used Mozilla. I was also able to print the whole document in 1 sheet of paper.
    I don't how to solve this problem, thank you for your help and attention

    Hi efacg,
    Most printing issues are solved by resetting the Printing preferences. When you print from Firefox and you click on the down arrow, do you see Defualt and Firefox? Please make changes to the preferences here and preview the document.
    If this continues to be an issue please also see [[Fix printing problems in Firefox]]

  • Need urgent help on file download servlet problem in Internet Explore

    I have trouble to make my download servlet work in Internet Explore. I have gone through all the previous postings and done some research on the internet, but still can't figure out the solution. <br>
    I have a jsp page called "download.jsp" which contains a URL to download a file from the server, and I wrote a servlet (called DownloadServlet) to look up the corresponding file from the database based on the URL and write the file to the HTTP output to send it back to the browser. <br>
    the URL in download.jsp is coded like <a href="/download/<%= currentDoc.doc_id %>/<%= currentDoc.name %>">on the browser, it will be sth like , the number 87 is my internal unique number for a file, and "myfile.doc" is the real document name. <br>
    in my web.xml, "/download/" is mapped to DownloadServlet <br>
    the downloadServlet.java looks like
    tem_name = ... //read DB for file name
    // set content type
    if ( tmp_name.endsWith(".doc")) {
    response.setContentType("application/msword");
    else if ( tmp_name.endsWith(".pdf")){
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");
    else if ( tmp_name.endsWith(".ppt")){
    response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-powerpoint");
    else if ( tmp_name.endsWith(".xls")){
    response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
    else {
    response.setContentType("application/download");
    // set HTTP header
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition",
    "attachment; filename=\""+tmp_name+"\"");
    OutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
    //read local file and write back to browser
    int i;
    while ((i = is.read()) != -1) {
    os.write (i);
    os.flush();
    Everything works fine in Netscape 7.0, when I click on the link, Netscape prompts me to choose "open using Word" or "save this file to disk". That's exactly the behavior I want. <br>
    However in IE 5.50, the behavior is VERY STRANGE.
    First, when I click on the URL, the popup window asks me to "open the file from its current location" or "save the file to disk". It also says "You have chosen to download a file from this location, ...(some url).. from localhost"
    (1) If I choose "save the file to disk", it will save the rendered "download.jsp" (ie, the currect page with URL I just clicked, which isn't what I want).
    (2)But if I choose "open the file from its current location", the 2nd popup window replaces the 1st, which also has the "Open ..." and "Save.." options, but it says "You have chosen to download a file from this location, MYFILE.doc from localhost". (notice it shows the correct file name now)
    (3) If I choose "Save..." on the 2nd window, IE will save the correct file which is "myfile.doc"; if I choose "Open ...", a 3rd replaces the 2nd window, and they look the same, and when I choose "Open..." on the 3rd window, IE will use Word to open it.
    any ideas?
    </a>

    Did you find a solution to this problem? I've been wrestling with the same issues for the past six months. Nothing I try seems to work. I've tried setting the contentLength(), inline vs. attachments, different write algorythms, etc. I don't get the suggestion to rename the servlet to a pdf file.

  • Link problem in Internet Explorer 9 (for Vista)

    Hi,
    I am creating a website with a link that links to my specific twitter page. It works fine in Firefox but when I open up Internet Explorer 9 (IE) I run into a problem. When I click on the link in IE it goes to twitter.com not my specific twitter page. I would love to fix this because I don't want my clients to have to hunt for me on twitter. It's weird because in Dreamweaver CS4 the links are correct in the properties panel so for some reason IE is not connecting with this link somehow.
    Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    ashmic19

    No there's not any sensitive information. I would upload it but I don't want to upload it to my particular web host yet until the site is complete.
    People here often create a temp folder on their website for testing purposes, upload a problem page for all to see then pull it down when the issue is fixed.
    By the time you've fixed the issue, it's unlikely that Google has found it.
