Layouts and Pods menus Disappearing For Hosts
During a group session today with about 6 hosts, a few of them realized that, part of the way through the session, Layouts and Pods had disappeared from their menu options at the top left of the screen. They were still hosts, but couldn't access those two menu options- despite being able to access them earlier in the session. What would cause this and how can it be prevented?
Did this get resolved? My whole meeting with layouts, polls, pods reset to a standard sharing layout. Is this another bug?

Make sure you are properly connected to the Internet, and that your location is set correctly, if that doesn't help try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds. -
I was working through my emails in Microsoft Web Access when I came across an email from a sender who keeps spamming me. I right-clicked on this unwanted email, saw a filter option and (recklessly) chose it. ALL my emails and the menus disappeared. I can re-access my emails in MWA in IE but how do I restore what I have foolishly messed up in Firefox? When I get to my email page in MWA in Firefox I now see nothing but the movable vertical bar.
You should really read the manual.

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer. -
File, Edit, and Help menus disappearing
Upon starting Adobe Reader 10.1.4 everything appears normal as shown below.

After about 2-4 seconds the File, Edit, and Help menus suddenly disappear, looking like this.

This happens for every PDF opened and even happens if Reader is opened by itself without a PDF. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the issue persists. The Help menu is usable just barely long enough to perform a repair installation, but it does not help. F9 does not bring them back. The system is running Windows 7 64-bit. Any ideas on how to correct this?Check the JavaScript folder to see if you any files other than the *.BIN file. If you do, then move the extras out of the JavaScripts folder and restart Adobe Reader.

Can you help me with Page Layout and/or Design ideas for a software manual?

I am a new InDesign user, and am converting a software manual that I created in MS Word into InDesign. It will be converted to a pdf to view online. I have the basics (3 master pages, page numbers, running headers, 2column pages with text boxes on the left and screenshots on the right), but I want to make it look prettier. Could you please give me some ideas on page layout and/or design to make it look better or more creative?
A few things that I am considering: borders around screenshots, a watermark, a logo next to the page numbers, different size/type of fonts, etc.
I am open to any suggestions to make this look better. However, please understand that I am new to InDesign. With that being said, please tell me a few steps when you mention your tips. Thank you!Take a look at a few websites on Cannons of Page Construction.
I think the best idea for you is to look at a few software manuals and take tips from how they accomplished the layouts.
I'm not saying to copy them - but rather see what works and doesn't work, what worked for them might not necessarily work for you - research some layouts.
Fonts/type/sizes etc. are pretty much ambigious without context - is this a software manual for kids (soft cuddly big fonts easy to read), technical (small, tight spacing etc), Adult friendly (smooth, crisp clear, well spaced), elderly (large elegant fonts).
It all really depends on your demographic audience.
Being new to InDesign I suggest you take up Sandy Cohens Quickstart Visual Guide.
I think you should look at Michael Murphys Book on Styles
And you should definitely get your printer (the guys bulk printing) the booklet for you on board from the start to work out optimal sizes to suit their printing presses and workflow etc. And to ensure that you are setup correctly in page sizes, margins, safe type areas, colour profiles and a few other things that your printers prepress can help you with. -
Word 2003 - Acrobat menus disappear for some (not all) documents
I have a user who is having a very bizarre issue with Word 2003 and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. When he opens some Word documents, the PDF menus disappear. They are immediately restored when he closes the document or creates a new document. We've tried repairing and uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail. He uses several custom templates, but they are applied at startup to all documents. Any other troubleshooting ideas? Could the fact that he's using Word 2003 instead of 2007 be causing the problem?
ThanksMore information: I just checked the version of the file I had on my hard drive, and it's doing the same thing there. However, the other similar documents in the same folder on my hard drive are not behaving this way, so apparently it's not specifically
a SharePoint issue.

Central Admin AND WebApp on 443 for hosting HNSC?

First a couple things about my environment:
- I'm using SP2013 Enterprise on Windows 2012R2 with IIS8
- SNI isn't an option since I need to support IE on WinXP (plus I believe it needs to be part of the initial IIS installation which it wasn't AFAIK)
- I'm using a wildcard SSL certificate
- I setup Central Administration on port 443 and gave it a URL spca.company.com
- I have a single IP for my APP server and a single IP on my single WFE.
Now I need to setup a non host header web application on which I am going to create an unknown number of host named site collections (HNSC). When I tried to do this in Central Admin I got an error saying this IP and port were already in use. To do this the
web app can't use a host header. I want this to be on HTTPS as well. If I can have this on port 80 and still have my HNSCs on port 443 that's an option since I won't be routing people to the root site collection and it will simply be there as per the requirements.
Is it possible to set up a web app on port 80 and have the HNSCs on port 443 while still having CA on 443?
Is it possible to set up a web app on port 444 and have the HNSCs on port 444 while still having CA on 443?
I attempted to use Set-SPCentralAdministration to move it to port 444 and then to 80 but both attempts failed. I'd be game to move CA to port 80 if you know how.

I am on a split back-to-back topology. My APP and DB are on my internal network with an internal IP of 10.30.X.X and my WFE with the public IP of 192.168.X.X. I have a wildcard SSL certificate *.company.com
I was able to get the web application created by running the powershell on the 10.30.X.X App server but instead of using 'https://machinename/' for the webappurl I used 'https://root.company.name/' for which I have a DNS Entry A record which
points to the public IP of 192.168.X.X After I created the Web App I went into IIS and made sure that the SSL Certificate was bound to the site. There was only the 10.30.X.X IP available to bind too. I tested using both the IP and 'All Unassigned'. I
then created a HNSC site collection with the same url of 'https://root.company.com' but wasn't able to connect.
I'm just wondering if my A record for root.company.com points to the 192.168 IP and the application is created on the 10.30 IP is it not able to resolve correctly? We have NAT in between our network segments so maybe that's fouling it up?

I am using Business One 8.8 PL 18. The option under the File menu for "Select Layout and Print" is available for super-users and some other users. We want it to be available for all users. What authorization setting controls this function? Thanks.

What is a quick alternative to launching an enterprise DPS app if Apple Store rejects the App? We are under a major deadline and can't wait for Apple to approve. We want to host the app elsewhere. How do we host our DPS app on our client's website? Thanks.
Unless I misunderstand the question, you can't do what you're asking to do. Apple doesn't allow you to bypass their store and host public apps on a website. The exception is an enterprise app, which requires an Enterprise account with both Apple and Adobe. This type of enterprise app can be distributed only within the company. Another option is to add the development app to several devices and use those for your demo. -
Attachments dont download from Gmail in Safari, They disappear,I even tried re-downloading Safari and that download disappeared, it is not in my downloads folder, I actually searched in finder for the file and it is nowhere on my computer. Please help!
Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!

When I open Iphoto, I see all my photos for a second and then they disappear and only a white dotted box appears. Then I click on it and for photos is a triangle with an exclamation point. It doesn't happen to all but quite a lot. how to I get them back
Have you recently deleted photos using the finder or run clean up software? Is so restore your backup
If not the backup your iPhoto Library and launch iPhoto while depressing the option and command keys. Rebuild your database

My iPhone 4 with iOS 6 is making me start to hate Apple. Any App and at any time I open and I can not view it or move for more than 2 minutes, they close themselves. During connections, it also gives this problem and the signal disappears after a few seconds back but often the person on the other end has hung up ... I can not stand it anymore, someone suggests something?
Besides these problems, there is the battery, which was bad got worse, she is not lasting more than 10 hours, even without using the phone.
Sometimes it even seems that the problem was solved, but my joy did not last long after I celebrate all the problems return, is incredible ...

Dock disappears for a few seconds and minimized apps open up

My dock at the bottom of the display will disappear for a few seconds and at the same time, my minimized open applications will open up. This usually happens when I'm running a few light applications at once. It almost seems to "gulp" or catch it's breath.
I'm not sure if this is related but for the second time since purchasing the machine the dock is showing a sort of double reflection at the very bottom. An open application has what looks like two lit triangles underneath the icon instead of the usual one triangle. The same area at the bottom of the dock shows a very tiny "bottom" of the page I have open, in this case Safari. It also moves left and right as I move the open page left and right. If I move the page down, the sliver at the bottom of the dock moves up.
This is only the second time this has happened. The first time it went away on it's own and today it's back. It's not troublesome at all but I'm just wondering what may be causing these symptoms.

Best Practice for Host Named Site Collections and Web Apps
Looking for advice on setting up the host named site collections. If I am reading many of the technet articles and blogs correctly I should 1) have only 1 top level web app for host named site collections and 2) not have a host header for that web
app. If that's correct I am looking for advice. We have 7 separate domains that we support in our farm. Currently each of those domains is divided into web applications based on the domain, *.contoso, *.trains.com, *.bakers.com, etc.
Is the concept now that all of the host named site collections fall under that one web app? How do we deal with the SSL for each of those separate domains which all have their own certificates?

NLewisYes, for creating host named site collections, first you create a host header less web app and then create host named site collections under that web app. However this is only for the cases where all the host named site collections ends in one domain. So
you can create host named site collections as intranet.contoso.com, my.contoso.com, portal.contoso.com etc as they are all ending in *.contoso.com.
As per your environment, if you have web apps which caters to different domains like *.contoso.com, *.trains.com, *.bakers.com, you need to create separate web apps as they are all ending in different domains. Then you can have a separate wildcard SSL certificate
for each of those web apps.
