Layouts understanding

Whats the difference between:
Planning Function
Planning Level
Planing Package
Please give easy and clear understanding not only refer to more docs.

Hi,
SEM-BPS has the following structure:
-     <b>Planning Areas</b>
In the planning area, by selecting a BW InfoCube, you determine the range of key figures and characteristics with which you want to plan in the planning area. You can also choose InfoCubes from an external BW System. You would access these using an RFC destination.
-     <b>Planning Levels</b>
With a planning level, you restrict the amount of data supplied from the InfoCube to whatever is relevant to your planning task. You do this by selecting the desired key figures and characteristics. In the planning level, you can select characteristic values that are to remain constant for all planning packages in the planning level. In the context of the planning level, you also determine which planning functions are to be offered, for example, revaluation or distribution.
-     <b>Planning Packages</b>
In a planning package, you can make further restrictions or refine the settings made in the planning level. A planning package can be seen technically as a subset of the superordinate planning level and it describes the data basis on which the planning functions operate. From an enterprise planning perspective, planning packages can serve as worklists where you define a subtask of the total planning task for each planning package and then process this as a manageable task.
-     <b>Planning Function</b>
You can use planning functions to enter and change plan data. They are divided into the following groups:
&#61607;     <i><u>Manual Planning:</u></i> Manual planning is the central function type for planning with SEM-BPS. The planning layouts, which you create for this function type, are used as entry forms for the manual entry of plan data as well as reporting tools for existing data, from which you can directly execute any functions of the type user-defined functions (see below).
&#61607;     <i><b>Predefined Functions</b></i> for a certain planning purpose (simulation, activity-based management). The main focus of these functions is the definition of alternative scenarios for the simulation of the effects of decisions. These functions employ special PC applications for the actual planning. These applications are, however, integrated into SEM-BPS and they store their plan data in the SAP Business Information Warehouse.
&#61607;     <i><b>User-defined Functions</b></i> that generate, change or delete plan data by applying various procedures.
-     <b>Parameter group</b>
A parameter group describes the concrete form of a user-defined planning function and consists of the settings necessary to carry out the function. In particular, these include details on how data is to be changed in the execution of a function (for example, a percentage rate for "revaluation" functions). The predefined functions have similar options for settings (for example, layouts for manual planning).
A planning area forms the highest classification level in planning and it determines which InfoCube supplies the data basis for SEM-BPS. You can create multiple planning levels for a planning area.
In the planning level, you determine the business environment for the planning. You define a planning level by selecting the characteristics and key figures that you want to use from the InfoCube in the superior planning area. The planning packages are dependent on the planning level. In the planning packages, you define values for the planning level characteristics.
For each planning level, the system automatically creates a basic planning package. You can create other planning packages if you wish. In the planning package, you can further restrict the characteristics selected in the planning level.
The planning functions are also dependent on the planning level. These are displayed automatically by the system when you select a planning level. A planning function can be applied to all the planning packages that belong to a planning level. However, to carry out a planning function, you must create at least one parameter group that contains the settings for the planning function. You must also have selected a planning package whose data the function will access.

  • Understanding Fluid Grid Layout

    Hi,
    First of all - I apologize - my English is bad, but I hope you will understand me.
    I'm currently watching some video tutorials about responsive web design, particularly about Fluid Grid Layout/Dreamweaver.
    To get to the point and to be as simple as possible, my question is: In what cases elements do NOT need to have class="fluid"?
    For example, here's part of the code from one video tutorial:
    <body>
        <div class="gridContainer clearfix">
            <header id="header" class="fluid">
                <h1>The Best Site Ever!</h1>
                <nav id="mainnav" class="fluid">
                    <ul>
                        <li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
                        <li><a href="about.html">About Us</a></li>
                        <li><a href="products.html">Products</a></li>
                        <li><a href="#">Services</a></li>
                        <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li>
                    </ul>
                </nav>
            </header>
            <article id="intro" class="fluid">
                <h2>Some Title</h2>
                <p>Some thext... </p>
            </article>
    As you can see above, <header> and <article> elements that are child-elements of <div class="gridContainer clearfix"> have class="fluid". But, let's look inside <header> element - there are two child-elemets: <h1> without and <nav> with class="fluid".
    Now, correct me if I'm wrong - If some element has child-elements - it must have class="fluid" (except for the case with ul/ol and its child-elements li), right? For example, element <article id="intro"> must have  class="fluid" because it has child element <h2> and <p>, but those child elements will not have class="fluid" because they don't have child-elements. On the other side, child-element (of the <header id="header" class="fluid">) <nav id="mainnav" will have class="fluid" because it has child element (ul). Only in case of lists there are exceptions...

    Thank you for your response. It isn't the snapping that appears to be the problem. This is an example of what I'm trying to do. Excel was the best way for me to provide a visual. Is this possible? Every time I try to place divs in a similar layout, the div will not take up multiple rows. For example div 4 would move down and where row 7 is would now be row 4. Div 2 would have also moved down because of 5. I have a large image that needs to be placed to the left of a header and vertical menu. I'm trying to keep the header and menu seperate and the image needs to be aligned to the top left of the text. I'm sorry that I'm overcomplicating this. I must admit it surprises me that the fluid grid appears to be dictated by rows. I'm wondering if for this particular design I should just stick to a table.

  • Trouble Understanding CSS Layout and Padding

    Hi,
    I'm having some serious problems understanding CSS layout techniques and the impact of padding and was hoping I could get some help.
    Here are a couple of pages that show examples of what I don't "get". The first has padding that causes the layout to look right. The second doesn't have padding but doesn't lay out as I would expect. Also, the amount of text affects the "bottom" div as well. I'm an old hand at HTML and could do this layout in my sleep using tables. Css is a different, frustrating story.

    Thanks.

    Thank you for the help.There's a lot of valuable info in these answers that I'm going to have to study. I never thought of applying classes to Div tags, but I guess I have to start learning somewhere. I'm not sure how to use the technique, but I'll definately look into it. If I could wake up tomorrow and know what you all know simply by wishing it, I would.
    I see that there are many things I have to learn about using CSS and I'd really like to see some real world examples that don't look like typical cheesy CSS designs with columns. If I were going to design this page using HTML, I would probably do something like this: http://www.libertywebmarketing.com/test/3.html
    (The last two tables show the table structure and use of a spacer. I know this a seriously antiquated way of doing it, but it's to illustrate what I'm trying to accomplish: Namely, staggered, left/right alternating boxes that will expand properly depending on the amount of copy or the vertical height of the photo in them.)
    Dreamweaver 101,
    I have "Dreamweaver 8 The Missing Manual" by David Sawyer McFarland, but I find it really concentrates on "typical CSS designs" that look like Content mangement templates. While I agree it's a valuable book, there's nothing in there I have found that addresses anything like what I'm trying to do. Is the Dummies book better for atypical layouts?
    Again, thank you all.

  • Understanding OSMF layouts?

    hi-
    im a seasoned actionscript developer but just starting out with osmf. i am having trouble understanding how layouts and layout rendering works.
    i have a control bar with all of my ui controls. i also have a 'share' button/panel that i want to live over the video (in depth). i have been making these items custom classes that extend LayoutTargetSprite. then i have create a separate layout renderer for each and layout container to add each to stage. is this the right approach?
    there also seems to be a problem with the inital positioning of my items. i setting the alignment properties for the layout target metadata, but everything is appearing top-aligned (i want bottom). i feel like i need to override the 'measure' or 'measuredWidth'/'measuredHeight' methods in my ui classes to return the size i want the targets to be so they are positioned properly, maybe?
    this resource has been helpful, but seem a little out of date...?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/OSMF/1.0/Dev/WSc6f922f643dd2e6d4770fe491265bf34074-7fee.html
    i also want to update the control bar size on stage resize, so i should use the LayoutTarget 'layout' method to update the dimensions of the control bar to fit the new width? or should i update the 'width' property of my control bay layout metadata? or something else?
    thanks for any tips or resources that might be helpful,
    lucas

    Hi Lucas,
    We don't recommend making layout renderers for each item that needs to be laid out.  In fact you shouldn't be creating layout renderers at all (they are created automatically by the MediaContainer).  The best way to layout Media is to add LayoutMetadata to the MediaElements.  If you want to integrate layout into your controls, which aren't MediaElements, I wouldn't suggest you place them manually on the stage, and do you yourself.  If you absolutely need to use the OSMF layout system, I would recommend creating a MediaElement to wrap your controls, and then give the wrapper the layout metadata you need.   The easiest approach though, is to look at the OSMFPlayer example, which has a skinnable player.  You can specify image for every button in the player, as well as background color, etc....
    We will be releasing a white paper on the subject of layout in the coming weeks.   I'll be sure to include a section on laying out your player controls.

  • Dreamweaver CC understanding external style sheets when using Fluid layouts?

    I'm attempting to build a website using the Dreamweaver CC Fluid layout feature. I've been using this tutorial:
    http://www.adobe.com/inspire/2012/08/fluid-grid-layouts-dreamweaver-cs6.html
    The bit i'm stuck at is when it comes to attaching a external style sheet to format the text and content. So to be clear, i've already created my fluid layout and created a 'layout.css' file when promted, then using some html 5 class div tags (header, navigation and article) i've built my layout. All doing what I want up to this point.
    Now I need to start adding content and from what I understand its much better practice to set up another external style sheet for the text formatting and styling.
    I used the CSS Designer to 'create a new CSS file', called it 'typography.css' and I can see its linked to the main Source Code file.
    I understand that theory but here is where its confusing for me:
    After creating and linking the new CSS file what do I do next? Do I have to hand code in various text formatting ids or is there a more visual way of doing it? Or do I select my text content in the source code page and then press the '+' button in the 'Selectors' panel to start adding ids that way? And should the class or id names in the new CSS file be the same as in the layout CSS file or different?
    I guess I dont really understand excatly how external style sheets should be created and implemented, all the youtube vids i've watched so far are done with hand coding but i'd like to use the Properties panel to do it in a more visual way if possible.
    Any tips or help greatly appreciated, some basic learning needed. Thanks.

    Giving a detailed explanation of  how to best use CSS goes beyond the scope of what this forum can do.  There are volumes of books, blogs and tech sites devoted to this  topic.

    In this video you’ll continue to further customize your website using CSS or Cascading Style Sheets. With CSS you can control many visual aspects of the website efficiently and consistently.  Learn the basics of how CSS rules work and how you can easily take advantage of the power and flexibility of CSS in Dreamweaver including creating and editing your own CSS class.

  • I don't understand Muse page layout

    Hi all,
    In my Muse design, I have a colored header which is continuously at the perfect width of my page (also when I preview in my browser)
    When I insert a small picture underneath this header and place them at the exact same position (at top and left) as my colored header, the picture seems to start at another position from the left, when I preview the page.

    Hi,
    On your coloured header do you have full browser width button enabled?
    This would cause it to stretch the width of the screen and therefore appear to be in a different position than your picture when you are viewing in preview.

    Hello again!
    Anyone that can help me figure out how to implement this in an MVC layout, I feel stuck.
    I post a little program that open and display an image file so that you better can understand what I whant to do.
    ShowImage
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.io.File;

              //Create the GUI
              JPanel top = new JPanel();
              add(top, BorderLayout.NORTH);
              JButton openBtn = new JButton("Open");
              top.add(openBtn);
              openBtn.addActionListener(new Listner());
              //Settings for the GUI
              setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);

    .header {

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

        <h1>Yellowstone Biologist    </h1>
        <h2>Mammals</h2>
       <p> Yellowstone is home to the largest concentration of mammals in the lower 48 states. Sixty-seven different mammals live here, including grizzly bears, black bears, gray wolves, wolverine, lynx, elk, bison, moose, and numerous small mammals.</p>
        <p>Visitors must view all wildlife safely. You must stay at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves and at least 25 yards  away from all other animals—including bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose, and coyotes.</p>
        <h4>Bears</h4><img src="grizzly.gif" alt="grizzly bear family" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" />
        <p>Bears may be seen in Yellowstone March through November of each year. Yellowstone is one of the only areas south of Canada that still has large grizzly bears. Grizzly bears are usually seen in the open areas. </p>
        <p> </p>
        <h4>Wolves</h4><img src="wolves.gif" alt="wolves" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" />
        <p>
    Loss of <em>habitat</em> and <em>extermination</em> programs led to the elimination of wolves throughout most of the United States by early in the 20th century. In 1973, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service listed the northern Rocky Mountain wolf  as an endangered species and designated Greater Yellowstone as one of three recovery areas. From 1995 to 1997, 41 wild wolves from Canada and northwest Montana were released in Yellowstone National Park. As expected, wolves from the growing population dispersed to establish territories outside the park. More than 1,600 wolves now reside in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. In August 2010, a U.S. district judge ruled against a <em>USFWS</em> 2009 decision to remove the wolf from the endangered species list, so wolves are protected as an endangered species in all three states again.<br />
        </p>
    <h4>Bighorn Sheep<img src="BigHornSheep.gif" alt="bighorn sheep" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" /></h4>
        <p> Bighorn sheep once numbered in the millions in western United States and were an important food source for humans. They are named for the large, curved horns on the males, or rams. Females, or ewes, also have horns, but they are short with only a slight curve. In the winter of 1981-82, an outbreak of pinkeye occurred among bighorns in the Mt. Everts area. Many sheep were blinded and/or killed on the adjacent park road or by falling from cliffs. Some are now found comfortable around summer road traffic.</p>
        <h4>Bison<img src="bison.gif" alt="bison" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" /></h4><p>
        Bison are the largest mammals in Yellowstone National Park. They are strictly vegetarian, and they graze on grasslands in the meadows, the foothills, and even the high-elevation areas of Yellowstone. Despite their slow walk, bison are surprisingly fast for animals that weigh more than half a ton.</p>
    <p>Yellowstone is the only place in the lower 48 states where a population of wild bison has survived since prehistoric times, although fewer than 50 native bison remained here in 1902. Fearing extinction, the park imported 21 bison from two privately-owned herds.</p>
        <h4>Bobcats<img src="yellowstone-bobcat.gif" alt="bobcat" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" /></h4><p>
        Bobcats  are small wild cats with reddish-brown or yellowish-brown coats, streaked with black or dark brown. They have prominent, pointed ears with a tuft of black hair at the tip. </p>
    <p>Unlike lynx, which they resemble, bobcats elsewhere have been highly adaptable to human-caused changes in environmental conditions; some biologists believe that there are more bobcats in the United States today than in colonial times. Yellowstone has many rock outcrops, canyons bordered by rock ledges, conifer forests, and semi-open areas that seem to offer conditions favorable for bobcats--adequate shelter, a variety of rodents, rabbits, hares, birds, and other small animals as well as seasonal carrion, for food.</p>
    <p>Bobcats are known to hole-up and wait out severe winter storms elsewhere. These elusive cats are most active at night, so even those who study them seldom have an opportunity to see one.</p>
        <h4>Coyotes</h4>
        <p>
          Yellowstone's coyotes  are among the largest coyotes in the United States. Adults are about 30 pounds, are less than two feet tall and vary in color from gray to tan with sometimes a reddish tint to its coat.</p>
        <p>Small mammals are an important component of coyotes' diets. In Yellowstone, such prey include microtines or voles, mice , pocket gophers, small birds, and in spring and summer, ground squirrels. They also feed on larger mammal's (elk, deer, bison, moose, pronghorn, and bighorn sheep) calves and fawns shortly after birth and young animals.</p>
        <h4>Elk<img src="elk.gif" alt="elk" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" /></h4><p>
          Elk  are the most abundant large mammal found in Yellowstone and historical evidence confirms their continuous presence for at least 1,000 years. More than 30,000 elk from 7-8 different herds summer in Yellowstone and approximately 15,000 to 22,000 winter in the park. </p>
    <p>Bulls grow antlers annually from the time they are nearly one year old. When mature, a bull's &quot;rack&quot; may have 6 to 8 points, or tines, on each side and weigh more than 30 pounds.</p>
        <h4>Lynx</h4>
    <p>Adult lynx are about the size of a large domestic cat. Males can weigh up to 30 pounds, while females are smaller. The similarity between lynx and bobcats makes it difficult to determine their status in Yellowstone. A large adult bobcat may be larger than a small adult lynx, so size is not a good characteristic for positive identification.</p>
        <h4>Moose<img src="moose.gif" alt="moose" width="150" height="115" hspace="15" vspace="15" align="left" /></h4><p>
        Moose, the largest member of the deer family, were reportedly very rare in northwest Wyoming when Yellowstone National Park was established in 1872. Moose breed from early September to November and one to three calves are born in May or June. Calves weigh 25 to 35 pounds at birth but grow rapidly; adult females (cows) weigh up to 800 pounds and males (bulls) up to 1300 pounds. </p>
    <h4>Mountain Lion</h4><p>
        The mountain lion, also called the cougar, is the largest member of the cat family living in Yellowstone. Mountain lions can weigh up to 200 pounds, although lions in Yellowstone are thought to range between 140 and 160 pounds for males and around 100 pounds for females.</p>
    <p>Mountain lions are rather secretive, so most visitors are unaware of their existence in Yellowstone. Lions probably live throughout the park in summer. </p>
        <h4>      Amphibians</h4>
        <p>
        Cool, dry conditions limit Yellowstone's amphibians to four species: boreal toad; chorus frog; spotted frog; and the tiger salamander. Population numbers for these  are not known.</p>

    This has happened before, where everything in my content area has dropped down below the sidebar.It's happended on several pages. I don't know why or how to fix it. It's for a class, so where I've posted it is private, but here's the page and css code.
    HTML

    Murray is right. Padding (and margins) is added to the width. However, when using percentages, you should never use figures that add up to exactly 100%.
    Browsers need to convert the percentages to pixels. Because pixels must be whole numbers, some percentages are rounded up, which results in the final element dropping down below its neighbours. With percentages, it's much safer to use values that add up to 98% (99% often works, but 98% is safer).

  • Does anyone know how to win a fight with layout manager?

    I am using the form designer in netBeans to design my page, which has a jPanel on the left and a number of controls on the right.
    My problem is that when I eventually get it to look half right at design time, it looks different at run time. The fonts are different, the combo boxes are a different height and some of my text boxes are 4 times as wide. http://RPSeaman.googlepages.com/layout.GIF shows both the design-time view and the run-time view. How can I win my fight with layout manager?

    I'd like to do an experiment where you take say 20 pairs of students of java, with each pair matched in terms of prior programming and java experience, general knowledge, etc... and set one of each pair to learn Swing using netbeans and its layout generator with the other pair learning to code Swing by hand. Then 6 months later compare their abilities. I'll bet that the code by hand group will blow the other group out of the water in terms of understanding and ability.
    Just my 2 Sheckel's worth.

  • Using null Layout - Problems

    Hullo - I've written a little app that, because of the nature of what it does, prettymuch requires the use of null layout. It works well enough, but there are a few points where it does strange things that I don't understand. I haven't been able to find any good docs anywhere for how exactly layout/rendering works. The Swing tutorial, for example, almost completely ignores the topic.
    Basically, I set the layout to null, add my components, use setBounds...but then nothing happens. In order for anything to be visible, I have to call pack() before I call show(). What is pack? What does it do? How can Sun's null layout examples work even though most of them don't use it?
    Second, if I create JFrame of a certain size, and add a component that goes off the bottom of the JFrame (on purpose), then expand the size of the JFrame to reveal the bottom part of that component, it doesn't paint - there's just a grey area. No amount of repaint() pack() or anything will cause it to show. The only way I've found to do it is to make the JFrame larger to begin with, add the component so that it's visible, then resize to the smaller size, which is kind of ugly and clunky.
    I basically do not understand why Swing is doing the things it does; why it paints sometimes and not other times, where it paints, when it paints, where it shows objects, how it packs them, etc. I would be very grateful if someone could englighten me!

Pack basically organizes the components so they take up the least amount of room, and then it shrinks the frame to as small as it will go without hiding any components. It think if you call revalidate() instead of repaint(), should solve your problem.
    The other thing to do, is (hehe) make your own components

  • I really want more options for page layouts.

    I am enjoying iphoto11, but sometimes wish for more page layout options.  Is it possible to flip an entire page layout  - like the option to flip a photo? I am currently working with a Photo Essay theme and in most of the layouts the text box is on the same side of the page. When I preview the book I see that I have many parallel layouts which looks a little stiff.  Any ideas?

    1 - there is no option to add layouts or modify existing layouts - suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
    2 - I understand that Aperture offers this capability
    3 - you can do pages in any program you want and do a print to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option and then use that image as a full page photo in a book - see Old Toad's tutorial #19 for more info

    When i tried with FM 'REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY'  it is working perfectly....
    how can i use FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' without dumping????
    do i need to pass any thing in FM????

  • Viewing Layouts on Remote/Testing Server

    This is a beginner question.
    I'm trying to view Layouts and/or Content Holders on the Remote/Testing Server out of Dreamweaver so I can edit them independently, but I just get 404 messages.
    When I create a new page in BC, I am prompted for a Page Title which subsequently creates a Page URL and File name. The Page URL by default has no extension. The File Name has an extension.
    If I view that new page on the Remote Server I get a 404 message. If I edit the Page URL to include the File Name extension, I have no problem on the Remote Server.
    Now for example: In File Manager I have the following directory structures:
    http://www.MySite.com/_System/ContentHolders/layout.html
    http://www.MySite.com/Layouts/SystemMessages/SecureZoneAccessDenied-CA.html
    Why is it that I can't view these pages on the Remote Server?
    Is BC creating a default URL for these Layout pages that isn't the same as the file name it gives them? or no URL at all?
    Thanks,
    Cam

    Hey there. Those are not pages. They are system generated layouts and for content holders only render when the module issued for that content holderin a pager template.
    Ile extensionsyouseefor these are needed to work via FTP and understnd HTML formatting etc.
    Zone access denied is a system message and will render when you create a login and enter a incorrect password.
    Actual pages do not need agile extension.
    Loin into the admins floor around. Look and pages, system layouts and templates, apply templates to pages. get a feel of things there as well to help get abetted understanding.

  • I need to remove "air." from package name. I'm get a Layout xml error when repackaging android app..

    So, i'm doing this on my own app. I made an update for an older app that was build using Native Android. But this time, i used Adobe AIR... The catch is Adobe likes to append a "air." to the front of your package name without asking you. So basically I can't upload my update because it has a new package name is now "air.com.mycompany.myapp" rather than the original "com.mycompany.myapp"
    Basically I'm going through this guide..
    http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/opt-out-air-application-analytics.html
    I followed all the steps, made all the adjustments to the androidmanifest.xml like it asks.
    But after going along with the above guide, with no issues when i get to the step that says
    "Run the following command to create the resource file for the updated AndroidManifest.xml:"
    I run this..
        "/Users/brybam/Documents/eclipse/android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools/aapt" package -f -M AndroidManifest.xml -F resources.arsc -I "/Users/brybam/Documents/eclipse/android-sdk-mac_x86/platforms/android-8/android.jar" -S ./res
    But I keep getting the same error regarding the xml files in res/layout
        ./res/layout/expandable_chooser_row.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/expandable_multiple_chooser_row.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/main.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/multiple_file_selection_panel.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/ssl_certificate_warning.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
    The guide doesn't say anything about these xml files, and im not sure what to do with these or how to handle them.
    If i go into the res/layout folder, and just delete these (i know they're necessary. But i just deleted them as a test, to get through the rest of the guide...)
    I was able to get through the rest of the steps in the guide fine, make an apk, and put it on my phone...only to find out the app will crash the moment you try to run it. Probably because i deleted the layout xml files...But i cant get the command i need to run above to accept them!
    So, earlier in the guide they have me use thing thing called the "AXMLPrinter2.jar" to make the AndroidManifest.xml readable so i can edit it.
    I run something like this:
        java -jar "/Users/brybam/Desktop/repackage/AXMLPrinter2.jar" AndroidManifest.xml > AndroidManifest.xml.bk
    This makes a new file "AndroidManifest.xml.bk" and i can edit that.
    So, I was thinking with all of these layout xml files, maybe I could run this "AXMLPrinter2.jar" on them and then edit them. Because right now if you open them they're not human readable, and its hard for me to work on them if they're not...
    I tried this thinking i could do the same thing...
        java -jar "/Users/brybam/Desktop/repackage/AXMLPrinter2.jar" main.xml > main.xml.bk
    Just get a blank file and a console erorr when trying to use the AXMLPrinter2.jar on the layout xml files...
        java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 67
                  at android.content.res.StringBlock.getShort(StringBlock.java:231)
                  at android.content.res.StringBlock.getString(StringBlock.java:91)
                  at android.content.res.AXmlResourceParser.getName(AXmlResourceParser.java:140)
                  at test.AXMLPrinter.main(AXMLPrinter.java:56)
    So, I think my whole issue is based around these XML files not being converted to human readable before i try and re-package....
    EDIT:::
    Ok, so I found a site that talks about the error I'm getting but it's in chinese, and even after translating the page...I'm still not well versed with terminal and this stuff to get it.
    It reads:
    "Error.
    Final conclusion:
    In minSdkVersion <= 7, AXMLPrinter2.jar can normally decompile xml file
    Greater than 7 can not be normal decompile xml file (AndroidManifest.xml except)
    Give way to share a batch decompile xml file:
    First, create a *. Txt file
    Stresses inside the content authoring
    for / r layout%% a in (*. xml) do @ java-jar AXMLPrinter2.jar "%% a" >> "%% a". txt
    Then this txt file extension into bat form, and this BAT the file and AXMLPrinter2.jar on the same directory will be decompiled xml into the layout directory
    Decompilation results can be generated by executing the bat file multiple xml files."

    Maybe someone with more know-how could explain what they're explaining? I get that he's saying the issue im seeing appears when you're using minSdK <=7 but I need to use minSdk 8. Does anyone understand this work around? And how I might go about it on a Mac with terminal?
    I wish adobe would make it easy to remove the "air." from the package name. If they want to convert old Native devs to AIR devs...the transition needs to be seamless. But now I'm about to have to go back to Native because I can't update an app I already have out on the market with an air app.

    Hello~
         I also tried to remove "air." package name in air application. And i encounter the same problem.
         I do not find any solution to decode the xml inside res folder by AXMLPrinter2.jar. And those xml inside is compressed which is unreadable.
         However, what you can do is copying the structure of res folder. And go to your air sdk file path -  adobeair-sdk-folder/lib/android/lib/resources/
         Replace those file exists in your res folder. And copy "values" folder to your res folder.
         Hope this solve your problem~
