Layouts using components

This is more of a methodology question. I am trying to decide
to what granularity to I break my application up into individual
components. Currently I have two states (state1, state2). The first
state has one vBox with 3 buttons in it. Eventually state1 will
have more vBoxes with subforms in each. I currently plan on having
each vBox be a separate component. Simple enough.
The second state (state2) has a lineChart, an
ApplicationControlBar (with and hSlider and a couple of buttons), a
label, and a subform (with a comboBox, radioGroup, and a submit
button). I am trying to decide whether the whole state (state2)
should be one component, or should I break this into several
components (an ApplicationControlBar component, a lineChart
component, and a subform component)?
If I break it into several components then do I call each as
a child when state2 loads or is it better to create a single
wrapper [parent] component (such as a vBox) and then load the other
[child] components into it, then load the parent component from the
state?
I am just trying to figure out how much to break up my layout
Thanks for the suggestions.

I've found this to be helpful for locating code when it gets

  • How to use a table to layout af components?

    i've been trying to figure out how to use a regular table
    to layout some components that are not databound ..
    I couldn't figure out how to use simple html
    Ie: the verbatim tag didn't like having unclosed tags...
    so i couldn't compile
    <f:verbatim>
    <table><tr><td>
    </f:verbatim>
    then my af controls
    i tried using a <af:table value="{1,2}">
    so it could render a row...
    but there is no <TR> equivalent... and it shows the column headings..
    and the presence of the table is too obvious (scroll bar .etc. and have
    to do a ton of css classes to make headers disappear..etc)
    anyway to nicely layout controls?

    Try the h:panelGrid component.

  • How to create a floating layout using adf

    Hi ,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11g to develop an application.
    I am coming across problems when i am trying to build the look and feel.
    Basically i want to develop as per the following link.
    http://webfusion.kcmo.org/coldfusionapps/ActionCenterRequest/getstatus.cfm
    I have been able to create the layout using adf layouts and components(af:panelStechlayout, af:panelgrouplayout), but the problem i am facing is that i want the entire page to scroll and have a floating layout.
    But in my case, the panels are scrolling, so when i resize the browser or change the resolution, everything appears to be broken in parts.
    Besides to recreate the above layout i have to include everything under the "center" facet, hence using templates is creating issues.
    following is the code i am using(just the structure code), this looks preety simple but i am not able to figure this one out.

    Try creating a layout that uses a panelGroup scroll as the top container and use panelBorders inside it.
    Something like this:

  • Issue with creation of custom layouts using SAP Help Documentation

    Hi Experts,
    My requirement is to create a home custom page layout (using web dynpro) in Composite Environment. The default options available in CE are not useful for me. I set out to make a custom layout using the following this SAP Help Documentation: [          Creating a Web Dynpro Page Layout (SAP Library - Using the Portal as a Frontend)|https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-102846]
    I have followed the instructions and followed all the steps, yet I fail to see the application in CE. The custom page layout is not displayed neither in options and is not available any where.
    Please let me know if anybody followed these steps and have got any success.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    Can somebody let me know if they have implemented a customised solution of creation of page layouts using Web Dynpro - as per the steps suggested by SAP.

  • Lack of useful components for application developer :-(

    I want to share some remarks about our rewrite old Windows application to new AIR/flex application.
    If any Adobe staff will reading this it will be great :-)
    For colorfull web application with exotic buttons is Flex undoubtedly great choice.
    But there is many developers (and firms like us) who looking for something little different.
    We got bunch of Windows application written in Delphi. And we want (must) to move to another technology.
    AIR is superior in language, runtime, simple move-to-web, blazeDS, tools and ecosystem growth is promising.
    The only bad thing about Flex/AIR is UI. Yes, you hear right. UI is our biggest show-killer. And I am afraid that even with spark it will not be better.
    We wrote application not coloring-book.
    So we want only basic but state-of-the-art UI-standard componnets.
    ToolBar, CoolBar, Button with three states, Button with icon and auto-disabled-grayed-icon, etc..
    1) I found on the web three technique how to add icon on the spark button. Two of them include skinning. Absolutly confusing!
    2) No useful CoolBar. How long it takes make CoolBar like in Adobe Acrobat Reader or MS Word in my application? This is matters for me!
    I dont want two or three full-time developers extra for making basic components for us.
    In this point Silverlight got 100% lead. No doubt.
    http://www.componentone.com/SuperProducts/StudioSilverlight/
    http://demos.devexpress.com/AgMenuDemos/
    We still evaluate both technologies. We like Flex because is more JAVA friendly that SilverLight, but lack of usefull components will be final dead-end.
    Am so sorry.
    Know Adobe staff about this issues?
    Want Adobe application-developers or only web-developers?
    Planning Adobe making application components in the future or is satisfied with current state?

    One thing is what is technology is better for me. More jobs in the future.
    Another thing is what is better path for migrating a lot Delphi application.
    Is realy so hard to make simple, nice and usefull toolbar in Flex? I cant find anything. So maybe I must try myself :-(
    What you mean with "Microsoft can no longer execute on new technologies well"?
    My main question in previous post should be "what about lack of useful components".
    And I expected one of this answers:
    Adobe is happy with current state. Main Adobe bussines is colorful web-application.
    Adobe know there should be rich components, but now has no time. In the near future Adobe deal with it.
    I am dummy person and making great "toolbar" is easy as a piece of cake.

    Try this. A simple sample Smart Form.
    SAP Smartforms can be used for creating and maintaining forms for mass printing in SAP Systems. The output medium for Smartforms support printer, fax, e-mail, or the Internet (by using the generated XML output).
    According to SAP, you need neither have any programming knowledge nor use a Script language to adapt standard forms. However, basic ABAP programming skills are required only in special cases (for example, to call a function module you created or for complex and extensive conditions).
    1. Create a new smartforms
    Transaction code SMARTFORMS
    Create new smartforms call ZSMART
    2. Define looping process for internal table
    Pages and windows
    First Page -> Header Window (Cursor at First Page then click Edit -> Node -> Create)
    Here, you can specify your title and page numbering
    &SFSY-PAGE& (Page 1) of &SFSY-FORMPAGES(Z4.0)& (Total Page)
    Main windows -> TABLE -> DATA
    In the Loop section, tick Internal table and fill in
    ITAB1 (table in ABAP SMARTFORM calling function) INTO ITAB2
    3. Define table in smartforms
    Global settings :
    Form interface
    Variable name Type assignment Reference type
    ITAB1 TYPE Table Structure
    Global definitions
    Variable name Type assignment Reference type
    ITAB2 TYPE Table Structure
    4. To display the data in the form
    Make used of the Table Painter and declare the Line Type in Tabstrips Table
    e.g. HD_GEN for printing header details,
    IT_GEN for printing data details.
    You have to specify the Line Type in your Text elements in the Tabstrips Output options.
    Tick the New Line and specify the Line Type for outputting the data.
    Declare your output fields in Text elements
    Tabstrips - Output Options
    For different fonts use this Style : IDWTCERTSTYLE
    For Quantity or Amout you can used this variable &GS_ITAB-AMOUNT(12.2)&
    5. Calling SMARTFORMS from your ABAP program
    REPORT ZSMARTFORM.
    Calling SMARTFORMS from your ABAP program.
    Collecting all the table data in your program, and pass once to SMARTFORMS
    SMARTFORMS
    Declare your table type in :-
    Global Settings -> Form Interface
    Global Definintions -> Global Data
    Main Window -> Table -> DATA

    SMARTFORMS GENERATION: (calling internal table fields)
    &#61656; Open a smartform using the tcode ‘smartforms’.
    &#61656; Usually form attributes shows admn data.
    &#61656; In the form interface declare import/export parameters if any. Else declare the tables in tables tab button.
    &#61656; In the windows and pages expand and create a table. It automatically generates header, main area and footer for the table.
    &#61656; In data tab button in the table we usually declare a work area to bring the data from se38. Like: ktab into wa. ( The purpose of declaring the wa is , to get the data of the ktab in to header from the body area of the internal table).
    &#61656; And in the tablepainter pushbutton in table we can have any no of line types. Depending on the requirement. ( for ex: If we want to devide a row in to 4 columns, we can devide it as 4,4,4,4cm as line type 1, And usually for the footer we don’t need no of columns, So, we declare it as one column with 16cm measure with the name line type 2.). We can use these line types in the tables.
    &#61656; In the header right click>>create>>tableline. It asks for line type. Select one line type which is appropriate.
    &#61656; Like same create a row2 in main area using right click. If we select the line type 1, it automatically generates 4 cells. We can create text in each cell as per requirement.
    &#61656; We can generate general attributes using general attributes tab button in the text. Or in the other way. We can switch on the field list on/off button from the application tool bar. It displays all the attributes in the left down corner of the screen. We can drag and drop the required fields in the general attributes tab button of the text.
    &#61656; We continue the same procedure for all the texts. The texts should be displayed in the gray color. Then only it can collects the data from the abap editor fields.
    &#61656; If it wont turns gray, we can check the fields in the editor by changing it to the line editor. The best thing is to drag the fields from the list, rather than declaring like &wa-matnr&
    &#61656; In the footer also we create a line type and in that table line we create text.

    In the method I we are calling the amartform dynamically using the function module 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'.
    Here we are exporting form name and importing fm_name.
    So we need to declare the variable fm_name as
    data: FM_NAME TYPE RS38L_FNAM.
    We can have the type of the fm_name in the function module 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME' (in the export tab button).
    Since we are passin the name of the Function module generated by the smart form in to the fm_name variable. We run the function module with the name fm_name, but not the FM generated by the smartform(like /1BCDWB/SF00000199)¬¬¬¬¬¬.
    In the method II we directly call the smartform generated function module (i.e, /1BCDWB/SF00000199).
    But the method I is recommended. In the method I, The fm_name is a variable we don’t put it in the quotes while calling.
    In the both methods we declare the internal table using the like option, but not begin of…. end of. And in select statement we select *, But not individual fields.

  • How to manually create a Report Layout using Crystal

    I am trying to create a new layout using Crystal for my Statements using BP Aging .  the out of the box Crystal report for that will not work and it would be easier if i just decide what tables I want to look at.  The problem is i am not sure how to set up the parameters so when i print from the aging it will automatically fill in my parameters with the correct information.  I have already written the report but when i attempt to print from the Aging report it asks me for my perimeters every time.  I tried to look at the out of the box version but it does not even use perimeters so i have no idea how SAP feeds Crystal what information to filter by. I'm using 8.80 PL 16 thank you in advance for any help you can give.
    Edited by: Megan Salem on Oct 31, 2011 5:31 PM

    not really, The system one all comes from some sort of "pld" table and the only designations are the f-numbers (F_124) and i don't have a clue what those are, and when i try to link what should be an the invoice number to the OINV table other things come back blank even when i use left join.  I need some of the information that is provided but i need more than what is currently there so i need the ability to link to the other tables and have it work for every one.  (I'm trying to make it more like the dunnung statement only so it can be run at any moment in time and give the exact amount owed.)

  • NEW Design Layout Using Omnipotlet...?

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to build a "Customized Design Layout" using OmniPortlet...?
    How can i achieve this in OracleAS Portal V 10.1.4...?
    Please help me
    Regards,
    Kalyan Chandra

    You can do this using the HTML layout of omniportlet and please have a look at the following link to get more details:-

  • Why is there no option to print in the toolbar options, useful components?

    I'm not sure that previous versions have had this option either, but when on certain sites (i.e. banking, etc.) they don't always have a print option. Is there a way that this could be added to the toolbar options? Perhaps under useful components?

    There's a '''Print''' button in the Customize Palette which you can move to a toolbar of your choice. See these support articles.
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar <br />
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Toolbar_customization
    BTW, '''{ Ctrl + P }''' works the same in Firefox as it does in other Windows programs, for initiating printing.

  • Layout use in alv

    Hi,
        I have saved three layouts on alv grid display screen.
    I have given three radio buttons on screen to select any one of them.
    But I dont know how to pass the layout name to alv grid.
    Please if any one cud help.

    Hi Shashank,
    To use variant for different layout, use code:-
    First take three radiobuttons in a single group, so that you can select only on of them.
    PARAMETERS : p_rad1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP gp1 DEFAULT 'X', "for layout 1
                 p_rad2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP gp1, "for layout 2
                 p_rad3 RADIOBUTTON GROUP gp1. "for layout 3
    DATA : v_layout(10).
    Now check which radiobutton is checked.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN.
    IF p_rad1 = 'X'.
      v_layout = 'VAR1'. "assign value for layout 1
    ELSEIF p_rad2 = 'X'.
      v_layout = 'VAR2'. "assign value for layout 2
    ELSEIF p_rad3 = 'X'.
      v_layout = 'VAR3'. "assign value for layout 3
    ENDIF.
    Now in v_layout you have the value for variant whose layout is to be used.
    Just use this variable is FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'.
    *          DISPLAY RECORDS IN ALV GRID
      CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'
       EXPORTING
        i_callback_program                = sy-repid "report id
        it_fieldcat                       = it_field "field catalog
        it_sort                           = it_sort "record sort info
        i_save                            = 'A' "for variant
        is_variant                        = v_variant "variant name
       TABLES
        t_outtab                          = itab "internal table with records
       EXCEPTIONS
        program_error                     = 1
        OTHERS                            = 2.
      IF sy-subrc <> 0.
      ENDIF.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Tarun Gambhir

  • Layout using div's

    Hi.
    I am using BEA Portal 10 and I need to wrap my code in a div tag right after the body tag. In version 8.1 this could be done inside render:begin start and stop, and render:ending start and stop. Now I do not know how to do it. I have read a couple of places that this is possible, but I can not find any samples or tips anywere.
    I also would like to style my layouts using div's rather than tables. Anoyne know how to do that aswell I will be thankful.
    This is basically what I am trying to achieve
    <body>
        <div id="container">
              <div id="top">Header</div>
              <div id="leftnav">Left</div>
              <div id="rightnav">Right</div>
              <div id="content">Content</div>

    Thanks, Deepak
    I have done just what you recommend earlier. I have mye body.jsp, but I do not know how to edit it. What is valid tags, I can not write html or jsp it seems. And I do not find a way for me to write begin and end tags. I can not find documentation (just API) and not one single sample anywhere. The code is provided below. Where is the endtag rendered, and how can I edit anything in between?
    <jsp:root version="2.0"
        xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
        xmlns:skeleton="http://www.bea.com/servers/portal/tags/netuix/skeleton"
    >
        <jsp:directive.page session="false" />
        <jsp:directive.page isELIgnored="false" />
        <skeleton:context type="bodypc">
            <skeleton:control name="body" presentationContext="${bodypc}" presentationId="container">
                <skeleton:children/>
            </skeleton:control>
        </skeleton:context>
    </jsp:root>The layout editing I have tired out before, but I fails everytime. The layout will now display.
    I have a support Issue on this matter, but BEA has not followed it thru...

When I open the large_product.html in dreamweaver (after installing the extension for BC) the file opens, but when I go to the property inspector, I can not modify any of the css rules currently defined and no css is linked to this file. I looked at all the available css's and I could not find any with the defined rules in this page.

    It must be a module template layout that is being used.  If you're on the latest interface it's under
    Site Manager > Module Templates > Online Shop Layouts >  Individual Product (small or large)
    and if you're on the older interface it's
    Ecommerce > Products > Advanced Layout customization (under the “related” box at the bottom right)
