Lcd brightness and nothing showing
hi.
i have a couple of problems with my LCD. the first problem was that i was never getting more than minimum backlight on the display, the display was usable but not really in bright environments. i swapped the inverter board and lcd panel but this didn't fix it.
anyway i persevered with this problem but yesterday the display stopped showing an image... it was still backlit (at minimum brightness) but didn't show the desktop. it works via an external screen however.
i took the LCD apart and checked the connections and all wires are intact and plugged in correctly... they were - any ideas guys???
before anyone suggests anything too obvious i am apple certified achds, acdt, acpt and was hoping someone could tell me what parts might be to blame from experience as i no longer have access to AHT.

If you've swapped out the lcd and inverter the only thing left is the logic. I would have to say that it must be something to do with that. Maybe there's an issue with the video / inverter connections to the panel which is why it works fine with an external display.
If possible I would maybe try testing it with a second known working lcd panel as it is possible that the one you used was doa. Or try testing them in another machine.
However I would say that it is likely to be the logicboard.

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Highlight Internal Speakers
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

4. Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
Audio Devices window
Side Bar
Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.
6. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
Play sound effects through:
Select "Internal speakers" and then back to "Selected sound output device". -
My Apple TV (2) works fine with my iPad and iPhone.
My iTunes syncs with my iPad and iPhone.
I have turned "Home Sharing" off and on multiple times - of course using the same AppleID - and NOTHING shows up under Shared (and then Shared goes away) and NOTHING shows up under "Computers" on Apple TV?
Why aren't Apple TV and iTunes smart enought to work with each other on the same network? This should not be this difficult...I think I am having the same problem.
My issue: since updating the software on ATV, I get an issue where shortly after starting a movie or video of some sort streaming from iTunes on my iMac the vid stops and Apple TV tells me that I need to connect to my Home Sharing account. Sometimes I can fix it by turning Home Sharing off and back on in my settings. Sometimes I need to completely reboot the AppleTV!

I open Adobe CC and nothing shows up for me to click on to install Ai, Ps, and Ae....Ive already unistalled and reinstralled. Please assist
I have the same issue, in that the CC Desktop App is Blank when opened. I tried re-booting, same thing. I tried re-installing the CC Desktop App, same thing.
I tried "Chat Support" only to have the agent ask me the same question that I already had filled out what the problem was in the Chat Box, and then they disconnected me because they said I was not responding when I was. So "Chat Support" was of no help at all.
Paying as much as we are for Creative Cloud, it is really frustrating that it breaks all the time. The last time I went through this, the only solution was to completely uninstall EVERY Adobe Application, and then reinstall them all. I really do not want to go through that process again, especially if I have to do it every time the main Creative Cloud Desktop App has issues, which seems to be all the time. Every time this happens, and I go to the Forums, I find numerous people posting with the same issues.
When is this going to be properly fixed so we the end users don't have to go through this all the time?? I don't have issues with other applications I have that update from time to time, just Adobe's applications.
Many of us rely on Adobe Software for business, and there are really not many other options besides Adobe, yet we are forced to interrupt our project workflow all the time to deal with software updates that are not working. This really needs to stop.

Why does the color red change from working with images in develop to library? The color gets lighter and nothing shows a change on histogram but visually you can see it.
That's probably a broken display profile. The conversion from Library's Adobe RGB is different than the conversion from Develop's linear ProPhoto, so if there's a problem with the display profile it can show up this way.
Recalibrate, or if you don't have a calibrator use sRGB. If your monitor is a wide gamut model use Adobe RGB.
Assuming Windows, change it in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices, and relaunch Lightroom so that it can pick up the new profile at startup: -

Plug the iPhone into a wall outlet, let it charge for half an hour and then try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears.
If that does not work, take it to an Apple store genius bar to be tested by the technicians. -
I'm trying to copy and paste,When high lighting it highlights in blue as normal but when clicking on it to copy and paste nothing shows up. Help Please.

When I try to type nothing shows up. I can type in IE and other applications, but not Firefox.
Did you try to reboot the computer?
Some have reported that pressing F9+Windows one or more times has worked to fix issues with the keyboard not working.

IMovie "opens" and nothing shows up
Hello everyone,
For some reason, my iMovie has suddenly decided to malfunction after just wroking perfectly fine a week prior.
Whenever I start up iMovie 08, it starts up VERY fast, barely bounces in the dock for long, and it shows up normally on the Menu Bar up top. But the actual program itself doesn't show up. Everything is grayed out under "File" except "Import from Camera", and clicking that does nothing.about 80% of everything in the menu bar for iMovie is grayed out.
I've run disk utility to verify disk and disk permissions mulitiple times over the past few weeks, and its still the same.
(And I must note this is one of many glitches im dealing with since I've had leopard in the past 2 months.)Hi
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
• Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
• Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
• Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
iMovie pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.

HT4060 My iPad wont charge at all. I'm using a wall charger and nothing shows up by the percentage.
My iPad2 will not charge all of a sudden I don't know why. I'm using a wall charger and the battery symbol doesn't show up as being charged.
Could be the cable, charger or iPad. Plug the cable into your computer, if it says not charging, the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop.
I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options. So very open to advice.

T.The ability to see the LBP6000 in the Add Printer view is not reliant on the printer driver but the USB cable. If you have the printers USB cable connected directly to the Mac, as opposed to having it connected to the Windows computer you mention or to some sort of USB hub, then it should appear in the Add Printer > Default view. If it does not show, then try another USB cable. You can also open System Information on the Mac and select the USB section in the left column. Then in the top right pane you will see all the USB busses on the Mac and the LBP should be seen under one of the busses if the USB cable is okay.
With regards to the action to remove all printers, I would bet that you performed a reset of the printing system. -
I don't mind giving my card details when setting up an account, but I have been charged £1.98 GBP apparently for nothing. When I discovered this charge today, I went to the purchases log but there is nothing there.
IMO charging just for setting up an account is a scam of the first order. Shame on you Apple! Perhaps you are now going to charge me just for logging into Itunes. This does NOT encourage me to buy any of your products in the futureSurely it would become obvious if I tried to buy something if I had put incorrect details into the card info. It isn't necessary at all to take this 'test' purchase.
Now look at it like this. Apple grab a tiny amount off every new user every week. Do you suppose that money just sits in their bank accounts? No of course not, they will be using those additonal funds for investment to increase their fatcat company earnings while we have to accept what is basically lending them money with no interest.
Why should we have to go through the hassle of watching our card accounts and possibly having to go to their support for money that should never have been taken. I As I am in the UK, it counts as a foreign payment on my card and I have to pay an extra fee for that which Apple will doubtless not be returning, so I will be out of pocket.
There is nothing you can say to justify this and yes, I will be writing to Apple to complain, not to mention getting on to consumer organisations in the UK.

I was using my ipod when the screen froze,then it went black/gray with messedup pixels and lines everywhere.I already tried plugging it in and connecting it to my computer,but nothings shows up in itunes, and my ipod doesn't respond to any buttons.Plus it won't go off.Someone please help; i don't want to have to replace it.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IMovie Opens and Nothing Shows Up. Just Freezes
Nothing in my event library, project library, or anything else for that matter. Just a bunch of dark gray area's where stuff should be. After several minutes of waiting things start to appear slowly but the program looks all goofy. No error messages or anything so far. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
-PhilNot likely. This problem showed up when people were first installing Leopard. If your installation was working before the latest updates to 7.1.1, that is probably not it.
Here is a thread that may help, but there are a lot of rabbit trails before they finally find a solution. It might be easier to call Apple support.

Put in a request for another verification e-mail to be sent to you.
Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.
