LCD defect on screen

Hi, my iPhone has a small dark spot on my screen. If I tap it with a little bit of pressure, it leaves a mark for about a second. You can only see the spot on white and really light colors. On some games if a tap anywhere near it, I can see the spot shaking and distorting. What is causing this? Will it get worse over time? I do not have a warranty on my phone.
Thanks

Can try a restore and set up as new - other wise will be Out of Warranty cost repair - Can either contact AppleCare or go to an Apple Retail Store and see what options you are given.

  • Macbook Pro to Toshiba LCD via HDMI screen shuts off

I have a mid 2010 model Macbook pro hooked up to a 46'' Toshiba LCD tv using the moshi connector and an HDMI cable. Every 25-30 minutes the screen goes black for 2-3 seconds as well the sound turns off. The picture then comes back, usually to shut off again for 2-3 seconds then will remain on for another 25-30 minutes. This happens each time I connect the laptop to the computer.
I have returned the TV, connector, and HDMI cables and the issue has continue to happen. This leaves me thinking that it must be an issue with the computer. Does any one have any tips or ideas as to what I can do to stop this? Its really irritating to try and watch a movie to have the picture cut out periodically.
    Thanks

    Hi, Guys
I'm using a MacBook Pro with a Samsung 610 52" color monitor for studio video production.
I'm using an adapter to hook up the TV to the Mac via VGA. There are times when I can get the image on the screen, but any time I either start cold or have to change a cable, I get the message "check signal cable." I originally thought the problem was the cable, but changing out three different "known to be good" cables did not resolve. When select system preferences=>displays=>gather windows, the Samsung window with resolution options opens. Nothing as of yet immediately resolves the problem, but if I **** around with it long enough (plug and unplug cables, turn both computer or LCD off and on), eventually I get a picture. And yes, I never had this problem when we were using a Dell Inspiron. Any suggestions or resolutions, please let me know.

  • Problem with nokia n95 lcd. Black screen and flex ...

Hi i have a nokia n95. I have it since its first year in the market. I am very pleased with the phone but the last month sudenly when i slide to open the phone's screen was not responding. The actual phone was working great. I could receive calls and make calls, listen to music and everything else. The screen was black though. As i am a technician with experience on iPhones mostly i thought that the lcd was damaged. So i ordered one from the internet and 2 days ago i received it. When i installed it i had the same problem. The phone works but the screen not. Then i completely dissaseblied the phone for one more time and i noticed something that i hadn't before at the flex cable. The flex cable consists of 2 flat cables. Well the one is completely broken. Take a look at the following pictures and please tell me you opinion. I am 99.9% sure that this is the cause of the lcd problem. I want to tell me if i should buy the flex cable. I can't go to a nokia center because the phone is out of the warranty over 2 years now. So the only option is to change it on my own.

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

  • Macbook Pro --- Acer LCD TV split screen???

    Hey all
I had a quick look and couldn't see the same question asked. So I have a Macbook Pro, and I have Eyetv running through it. I bought an LCD TV because I wanted to put the Eyetv window in a split screen on the new monitor so I could browse the net n other stuff on my computer screen, and then I could also use the TV through HDMI for things like PS3 n stuff. I was just wanting to know what the TV requires (specifications wise) to use split screen, because when I turn off Mirrored image for the displays the LCD TV shows up "Not supported". I havnt inquired with Acer yet, but I figured id ask if anyone has any ideas.
    cheers

I expect that additional display is working as designed.
The default is to use additional displays as an Extended Desktop:

  • LCD Failure - external screen

    Good day
I purchased a 17" powerbook September last year. The LVD screen has failed and I cannot now afford to get it replaced.
When I took it in to be checked, we could use an external screen and everything worked OK. After it had been checked by an authorised apple repair centre, I can still start the powerbook up in target disk mode (I have copied off all my data) but I cannot use it with an external screen.
All I get on the external screen is what looks like one of the apple screen saver images - basically a blue screen with white swirls on it.
When I asked the repair centre what I should do they advised reinstalling the software by placing the original CD in the machine and booting. No change - still the same blue screen.
Whast am I doing wrong - or is there nothing to do but scrap the whole macine?
I'd be grateful for any suggestions you can offer.
    Peter

    Peter,
Your PowerBook is probably using your broken LCD as its main display.
    Try this:
Press F7 (or fn F7) to mirror the desktop on both displays.
If you see your desktop on the external display, you can set the prefs to use the external display as the main display:
System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement:
drag the menu bar to the blue square representing the external display.
    Hope this helps,
    Patrick

  • Looking for an lcd replacement screen. Not sure which one is needed.

Hello, first time on this forum so I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. I recently received a Toshiba Satellite with a broken lcd screen, first time I've ever worked on a laptop. Removed the screen without a hitch but I am not sure exactly which monitor I can replace it with. I have taken photos of the model and other numbers.
I'm not sure if 2 or 3 different screens can fit into the same laptop or you need the exact screen.
Posting pics below of the numbers of the back on the lcd screen. Looking for an exact replacement or something that will work in its place for sure.
A hearty thank you to anyone who takes the time to help! :]

  • Defective iMac Screens

In early November I decided to make the move from my 6 year old PC to the Mac world. I used to build my own high end PC's for years, never really had any issues at all, hardware or software, but decided a giant black dust collecting box was no longer for me.
From Apple.ca, I ordered the top of the line custom iMac, 27", Haswell i7 3.5GHz, 16GB, GTX780M 4GB, 3TB Fusion drive, and 3 yr Apple Care, it took about 2 1/2 weeks to arrive.
Love the keyboard and mouse, the screen was super nice (but I'm used to having good IPS screens). Over about 3 days I noticed 3 dead pixels (not sure if they developed over time or I had them and didn't initially notice). Being a bit OCD, I sent it back, the replacement wouldn't arrive until Xmas, so I cancelled and waited to order in the new year. All the Apple online techs were fabulous to deal with.
Beginning of January I ordered another iMac, it arrived 2 weeks later, and after maybe an hour of use I noticed a very bad screen issue, the top of the screen was neutral, and the bottom had a yellow cast, very annoying for even web surfing, let alone graphic work. So I carried that back to the UPS store and had a replacement ordered, it arrived 2 weeks later, I opened it up and sure enough, a smudge or "finger print" on the inside of the screen. Very upsetting. So, it was already almost February and March-May I'm super busy with photo work (10k-20k photos I have to work on) so I couldn't try another replacement, because I have to get working, and no time to learn a new OS, buy and install new software.
I loved the iMac, but didn't think there should be any flaws, no matter how "small" they are on a $3200 computer. The main reason I got the iMac was for the 27" high res IPS screen. I could have built my own and got a similar Dell IPS screen (that's what I have now from 2007, the same panel that was in the old Apple Cinema Displays). My monitors are all flawless, no dead/hot pixels, no colour shifts, nice and even backlighting, my $599, two year old LG 1080P plasma TV is perfect too. My gf's new $550 15" Dell laptop is also flawless.
I don't have a car and the only Apple Store in town is a 30 min bus ride away, not fun to try to carry a 27" iMac on a bus in -30c weather.
I do love the iMac though, it's what I want, and honestly, the support from Apple has been absolutely superb. I admit I'm a bit on the OCD side, some people say they would put up with a few dead pixels or a finger print/smudge inside the screen, but my mind says $3200 so it should be flawless.
Am I asking too much? Is there such thing as an iMac that doesn't have defective pixels, or something wrong?
I'm really bummed but will have to wait until summer to decide what to do (I hope I can hold onto the money I've been saving and don't run into any unexpected financial hits). I want an iMac, but want one without defects. Is there such a thing out there? Maybe I'm just cursed? I wonder sometimes.
So back to my 6 yo PC and 20" IPS panel, with sticky A and E keys. LOL.
Again hats off to the many, MANY Apple support people I talked to over the past 2-3 months, they have all been awesome and accomadating.

No. Plasma deposition is a method for applying an antireflective coating. It's not polarization as such, though I can't say that the antireflective coating might not involve polarization in some way. Nothing I can find indicates that it does, though.

  • Tecra M2: Can I replace the notebooks LCD to SXGA+ screen

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the standard XGA screen I have in my Tecra M2 with a SXGA+ screen. Do i need to change anything other than the LCD display?
    Many Thanks.
    D

    Hi
As far as I know the notebooks are delivered with different hardware configuration. The same notebook series can be delivered with the XGA screen and SXGA+ screen.
I think you can replace your TFT display to another one but the display size must be the same.
    I assume the Tecra M2 needs a 14.1 display.
But why do you want replace the notebooks screen??? First of all you should know that the display replacement is not easy and it should be done only by a technician or a person who has a good notebook experience. Furthermore the new display is not cheap. You have to spend about 350$ for a new part and I think its not worth.
But this is you choice buddy

  • My mac mini is connected to my panasonic LCD and the screen has gone blank

    So here's what I did.
I plugged my old mac mini (10.4.11) to my Panasonic Viera LCD flat screen with a VGA cable. When it loaded up and i logged in i noticed the screen sizing looked odd - as in looked stetched. I then jumped into the display settings and must have clicked on of the options which for some unknown (to me anyay) reason the screen just went blank. I then cannot do anything as I cant see anything. If I turn it off and turn it back on again then its all good as before untill I have logged in and it loads the desktop - then it goes blank again.
    Any ideas?

  • LCD as second screen has purple tint!! Help!!

    Hello all,
I have just connected a 19" LCD screen to my iBook 14" through the DVI adapter that came with my mac. While the iBook has instantaneously mirrored my desktop, the LCD screen has a heavy purple tint on it. The screen on my iBook is still fine but the LCD screen is unworkable. Everything appears on it, its just heavily purple-ised. Does anyone know why this is, and what I can do about it?
    Any help greatly appreciated
    regards,
    Glen Kristensen

Sorry, my mistake, the LCD screen I am using as a second screen is 17" not 19". I Have tried on another screen (but the same model) so I am sure the problem is with the iBook. I don't really see why the iBook underpowering the external screen would make it turn purple. Let me just clarify, the screen is displaying everything crystal clearly, the only problem is that there is a purple hue or tint over everything. So for example the colour white isn't white on the second screen but purple.

  • Are LCD and glass screen glued together? or can it be taken apart?

I just want to know can the screens be taken apart because I need to know if I should buy the whole LCD assembly or just a glass.

There is more to it than just a piece of glass, but the good news is that it is relatively easy to replace:

  • Stuff between lcd and plastic screen

So I have remnants of ....dust, pocket lint...whatever, but it is in between the pastic screen and the lcd screen. aparently there's some space for dirt to gather there. Is there any way to clean that area out? Does Apple cover this? Big bummer if dust can get in the viewing area.

you may want to alert apple about this, seeing that this really shouldn't happen. try talking to the Apple Support by phone, they should help you from there.

  • [SOLVED] X11 + Nvidia = LCD Standby - Blank Screen

Hello everyone, I am in a bit of a pickle, and could really use some help.
    My hardware:
    Intel Core i7 920 (Overclocked to 3.9ghz)
    6gb DDR3
    2x Nvidia 285 GTX
    X-Fi Soundcard
    Acer H233H 23" LCD 1080P
    * I did a fresh install Arch x86_64
    * I followed the Beginner's Install Guide
    * I use Xmonad + Xmobar
The system is in a fresh state with the latest packages and boots perfectly.
    My Problem:
When I use startx, I get a series of beeps, and then the monitor goes into standby. I can still enter commands in the command line, like sudo halt, or sudo reboot, and even startx again, but the monitor never turns back on. If I change the exec command to xterm (in .xinitrc), x11 starts, and I see xterm, but when I exit, it beeps again and the monitor goes into standby and I cannot see anything, only enter commands blindly.

Fixed it. Seems my xmonad setup was using configs built for i686 and my install was x86_64, recompiling the configs fixed the problem of logging in. I am still getting the beeps and lost signal (to the LCD) when switching tty's or logging out. I'll solve that problem next time though. Thanks!
