    please help me...
I recently bought a laptop in one day, and then I found a white spot on lcd screen.
Given these conditions if I could get a replacement with a new laptop?
Or do I just get a replacement just in the troubled lcd and how long the problem can be solved?
Please help to related parties to help the handling of the issues mentioned above.
    Thank you for your attention.

    Ardha,
Welcome to the forum.  White spots on the LCD, typically a bright white spot most clearly seen against a white background like the forum, or google home page, is caused by pressure damage - pressure applied to back of the LCD panel.
Since you indicated that you have only had the system 1 day, unless you are aware of something that happened while in your care, I can only guess that the damage was done during transport or manufacturing.  I would recommend you contact your point of purchase and ask to exchange the unit.  I would also try to power up and inspect the new system immediately to make sure all is well.
Please also see my PM - I would like you to take a pic of the spot and email to me if possible.  While random things happen, I'd like us to take a look at this.
    Best regards,
    Mark

    White Spot on LCD...

Hello Waseem2012. I understand you have some white spots on your LCD.
This is normally a hardware problem related to the screen itself. I'd like you to try performing a hard reset before attempting any other solutions. Try the following.
    Power down the notebook.
Remove the battery and AC power.
Hold power button for 20-30 seconds.
    Replace battery and AC power.
Verify whether the issue was resolved and post the result.
If this doesn't work I suggest taking a look at the "troubleshoot differences between hardware and software problems" section of this document.
I hope this information is helpful; have a great day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • Macbook pro retina display white spot(LCD Mura)

i have a macbook pro retina mid 2012 and i was traveling for 9 months and i had this problem for a while that my screen has a 2 bright white spots on the lower left quadrant of the screen it is an LG display and i researched online and people seem to be calling it an LCD mura. My macbook is out of warranty but i was wondering whether apple will replace the screen or not since it is a very common problem

    Hello!
I bought mine in July 2012 and hadn't noticed any white spots until around December. I though maybe it was some problem with Firefox since I could only see it when surfing on internet but then one day I changed the background and realized that it was visible, as you say, on a light background. There I didn't see it on Lr od Ps.
I called yesterday to Apple (they don't have shops here in Oslo where I am located now) and tehy told me to go to the Authorized Service Provider.
I went this morning and they will change the screen for free as it is less than 1-year old. But recommended me to pay for the Apple Care... mmmhh...
I asked if he had seen these spots on more rMBP and he confirmed it. He had seen more although he couldn't tell me if it was a weakness of the Retina-screens..
    Would be nice to know..
Do I have to start saving for the new replacement-screens to come?!
...until further notice I'll be 2 weeks without my beloved rMBP and my Adobe friends...

  • A lot white spots in LCD screen Mac Pro

    Hi,
I just bought mac pro 13-inch online directly from apple for only about 4 month, and today I found a lot white spots in the top left screen, it really make me fell unease, can apple replace the LCD?  Thanks.

Yes, Apple can replace it. You've a one-year warranty - three years if you purchased AppleCare. Take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them take a look at it.
    Good luck,

  • Faint White spots on LCD Display

    Hi,
I have a few faint white spots on the LCD display of my Macbook Pro. I had similar problems with a previous Powerbook G4. The white spots are about the size of a Canadian nickel and are right in the middle of the display. Since they are in the middle of the display, they are quite annoying. I already tried cleaning the screen many, many times.
I tried to call Applecare but they wouldn't even listen what I had to say since I was outside the 90 day phone support. I was under the impression that the Macbook Pro had a warranty of 1 year; but if they won't listen to what I have to say, how can I get them to do any warranty service on my laptop?
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hey everyone,
I've also experienced these same "white spots" on my Mac Book Pro. I purchased it about a year ago and they started appearing on my screen in October. It looks like someone used their finger tip and applied direct pressure on my display. They almost form a perfect circle pattern in the middle.
I took my computer to an Apple store in Toronto and they couldn't diagnose what the issue was so they did the screen replacement under warranty.
Unfortunately, it began happening AGAIN a few weeks ago and I took it back to a store today to have a "genius" look at it. Immediately, they said that it was a result of putting too much pressure on my screen. I wondered how the heck I could have accomplished this since I thought I treated my MBP like a baby. I was using a Crumpler laptop bag to tote my baby around and according to them a combination of; all the gear I was carrying (which isn't much), the fact that it was a shoulder bag (resting on my hip when I walk), and the fact that I use one of those Marware keyboard covers together (which applies pressure from within) contributed to the pressure put on the center of my screen. And ultimately, they won't replace the screen because it's "my fault".
I'm just bugged by it because...
    1) The genius I originally dealt with didn't know what the problem was so I couldn't take any measures to better protect my computer after it was repaired. I could have bought a tougher case, made sure I was more aware of what else I put in my laptop bag (although I never put that much in it initially), or just left it at home.
    2) The genius (who was quite rude actually and treated me like I was stealing from him) I dealt with the second time said he saw this issue quite often but there is no warning anywhere saying that the Mac Book Pro can be succeptible to this. Geez, I have friends/family with Mac laptops that treat them like crap and have no issues like this. Also, I know people with PC laptops that are built like tanks (who spent a fraction of the money I did) and can put up with alot of day to day punishment.
    3) I bought the Marware keyboard cover AT the Apple store. Why are they selling something that has the ability to damage their laptop screens?
So I hope people can read this and take the proper precautions when storing their Mac Book Pros during transport. Luckily, the spots aren't too bad, I just make sure my desktop wallpaper is dark so the spots won't be so obvious.
Sorry Apple, you just lost a point with me.

I would like to inquire about how I could have my iPad 2 repaired or replaced. I bought it With a credit card via apple store website last June 19 of this year. At first, I already noticed a little white spot in the middle of the screen visible when the display on screen is dark. I thought this was okay. Now, My problem with it is that, it now has green discolorations at the center whenever the screen display is black or dark I.e. When a website's color is black or dark or whenever I go to the search interface.
    I am from the Philippines.
Please attend to this inquiry as promptly as possible. I'm sorry I have to send it here since I cannot see any email or inquiry page on the apple website. I also cannot reach the toll free number on my mobile phone.
    Thank you very much.

  • I have a small white spot on my screen

I have a macbook air which i bought in april.  It works great but i notice it there is a small white spot on the screen that is very annoying.  It's not visual when I'm playing a game or wtching a video because there is a dark screen behind it.  When there is a light screen in front of it it's there.  It's annoying.

Your Mac has a 1-year warranty.  If this is a hardware problem in the display (and it sounds like it is) they will fix it for free.

  • My ipod touch screen has gone white with bright white spots, I have restored it but it is still white.  It shows in ITunes but I cant do anything with it.  Can anyone help please

My Ipod touch screen has gone white with bright white spots on it.  I have restored it and it shows in ITunes but the screen is still white.  Is there anything I can do? The warranty has run out so I will have to pay for any repairs (if it can be repaired).  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Are you talking about the indicator for open applications?

If you've had it for less than a year, then it's still under warranty.  Take it to an Apple store or an authorized service facility.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1434

  • White spot on my Retina MacBook Pro?

Hello everyone again. I have a problem with the display (again, sadly ). This time, it isn't ghosting. The panel I have is the second generation LG panel display, or SJA2. While I was browsing on the web, I noticed a white spot visible on bright colors. I searched other forums, and apparently, it isn't a dead pixel, but another bad case of LCD Muras. I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of having to deal with flawed Apple products again. I paid a huge premium for this machine and I expected solid quality for this machine. It's ridiculous. I have heard too many issues with Retina MacBooks over the past 2 years since it debuted. And since my warranty ran out a year ago, I'm out of luck. Even worse, I didn't get AppleCare, which was my fault. I took great care of this laptop, and I never abused it, pinched it, threw it, or dropped it. I don't see how something like this could happen. So, please, I need as much help as I can get. I'm not knowledgeable on computers.
    1) Do Samsung Panels suffer from the same problem as well? (I know they are not prone to ghosting, so that isn't a worry here.)
    2) Is there anything else I can do to fix the LCD Mura issue, or am I going to have to replace the display completely? What else can I do?
    3) Does anyone who suffered from the same issue as I have know what's going on, or know what's causing the LCD Muras? A manufacturing defect?
    4) Would it be safe to buy a replacement Samsung screen from Ebay? I have to be careful just because getting a replacement doesn't guarantee an immediate fix.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated. I'll try to post a photo of the issue when I can. Thanks.

So what can I do? Will Apple fix it?
Yes, and you will have to pay.
If I have to pay, how much will it cost me?
Only an Apple genius bar technician can give you an accurate quote.  It will not be inexpensive.
    Ciao.

  • This white spots, and a little magenta line

I noticed recently that I have a couple of those white spots now on the right, center portion of my screen. I have one of the very first Aluminum PowerBook's, I got it in January 2004 immediately after the Titanium's were replaced. It's one slightly larger white spot, a smaller one above it as well a couple in the center. Also, there is a smallish magenta line on the right side of the screen. Is this a bad pixel(s)? I know these white spots were a big issue before, but at the time my computer didn't have them but now they do. Is this something AppleCare can help me with?

The same thing happened to me, and yes they should take care of it.
What you need to do is visit the Apple store and see a Genius to submit the repair request. All he needs to do is take a look at it and see if it's worthwhile. Most likely it is. When the Genius saw mine, he immediately said "yep I see it, anyone could see it..." And my 2 white spots were about than 1/16." Then they'll ship it off for you and probably replace the LCD. Mine should come back in a couple days.

  • Bright white spots on the screen?

Hey guys, my iPhone has developed these two bright white spots on the screen. I don't think it's a hardware problem because they are not there for every application. But I have tried restarting it, completely resetting it, etc with no success. The problem is I bought in July 2007 so my warranty is up. Am I screwed?

You can also look at LCD replacement from outside repair companies like iResQ.com. If you're not sure what's going on with the spots, you can also get a diagnosis within 24 hours from them before you decide to repair or resell. Replacement can be had for $130, back to you the day after receiving your order. Also, their techs are Apple-certified. Check it out if you're still having problems:
