LCD inverter compatibility

Hello all,
I want to replace the LCD inverter of my laptop HP G61 420SL and I wanted to ask if I can use an inverter board of another
HP G61 laptop. Are all G61 models compatible with each other regarding inverter boards?
thank you

I think that is a serial number so no two will be alike. As long as the inverters are phycically the same, and REO is saying all G61s that have an inverter use the same one, you will be OK.

  • LCD Inverter

Hello, the other day I dropped my laptop the HP Pavillion 17 notebook and the backlight went out, and due to some testing ive found the LCD inverter is broken. Anyone know if I can get another inverter or I have to replace the screen completly

    Hi Anthoknee,
Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for your model. There is no reference to a backlight (other then keyboard) or inverter for specific parts in the display assembly. You can replace the whole assembly there are instructions on page 65 for removing it.
You could also give us a call for repair options. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • PowerBook - Powerbook 17 LCD, Inverter and Video LCD Cable

    Hi,
    I have the following issue:
My Video LCD Cable is broken (Some of the little cables inside are broken) and i need to replace it. But i'm not sure if the Inverter is also broken. Is there a way to know that so i can buy both of them or only the LCD Cable?
If i only connect the inverter to the LCD, should there be a blank white screen at least?
How do i know I only need to buy those two parts (Inverter and LCD Cable) and it's not also my video card in the logic board that got burned? Can the Video card in the logic board get burned or broken?
When i turn on the computer, i get no video at all, no blank white screen or anything. I know it boots and loads the OS since i get some sounds at boot.
Thanks for any tips i received!
    The Powerbook is a 17" 1.67MHZ.

    Hi Magpie,
Well that changed with the iMac G5. Here's a quote from this Apple document...
    Ethernet port (10/100 Base-T)
The iMac G5 has a built-in 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet port. The iMac G5 computer can be connected to an Ethernet cable from a cable or DSL modem, hub, switch, or router, or to another Macintosh computer. The connected device can be either a 10Base-T or a 100Base-TX device; the port automatically detects which type of device is connected. You don't have to use an Ethernet crossover cable to connect to other Ethernet devices.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86813
I'm guessing that up to the iMac G4s you had to use a crossover cable. I just tried a crossover from my G4 tower to a Window's XP box and it worked just fine.

  • T400 LCD Inverter Questions

    Hello Everyone
I'Ve got a few questions about the LCD Inverters. First of all:
Is there a difference between 41W1479 and 41W1478? There must be, because they are different numbers, but wherein lies the difference?
Secondly, I've built in a 41W1478 card where there was a 41W1479 before. Had lots of flickering in the first try, then re-installed the card, and after that, it stopped working completely. Any idea on what i did wrong?
    Looking forward to your answers

The inverter that was inside before didnt work (screen was all dark), the new one was flickering. Then i turned it off, re-connected the inverter, and when i turned it on again, the screen was all dark as well...
Are you sure its the motherboard? because replacing an expensive part isn't really the solution i was hoping to find, tbh

  • A1081 Cinema Display LCD Monitor compatibility

I am about to buy a reconditioned A1081 Cinema Display LCD Monitor 20"? But i need to know if it will work with my MacBook Pro 10.5.8 and my ipad 2? As i am buying it to use at an exhibition. iIf so what adaptor will i need to hook both of these up? Thank you in advance.

Are you sure the monitor is set to receive input over the VGA input? Have you tried the DVI input on the monitor? You may have better luck with DVI.

  • Macbook a1181 display blanks out replaced the lcd inverter still blanking out

    Replaced inverter still blanking out.

OK--so this is an original MBP. You are in the late 2008-early 2009 section of the forum, so I am going to request that your post be relocated to the original MBP section.
Have you tried an external display? If you get good graphics on an external, it will be further conformation that the graphics chip is OK.
I am puzzled as to why the original display worked, but two separate replacements did not. I have heard of the brightness indicator getting stuck all the way to the left, so that the display remains black. Can you see the desktop at all by shining a bright light through the apple? If so, maybe you could go to System preferences>Desktop and see if the slider is stuck, and if so, move it to the right.
    Good luck!

  • LCD replacement compatibility

Howdy: I am about to replace the LCD in my PB 12" G4 DVI. Can I use the LCD from an iBook? Is there a range of LCD screens that will be compatible with the PB? The two computers have different part numbers for the display, but my hunch is that the LCD itself will be comprable and could work... anyone know different?
    Thanks,
    Nate

I've heard you can, but can't confirm that. (Using an iBook's screen with the 12-inch PowerBook of same size). They both have different part #'s which lead me to believe, personally, that you can't.
But, these people, very reputable, say you can. Just make sure you don't get them off of eBay because they'll say they are, but really aren't.

  • Imac late 2013 lcd screens compatibility

Hello everybody. I have an imac 21.5 inch late 2013. The exact model is EMC No 2638. It accidentally fell down and the lcd screen is very damaged. I want to replace it. The model of screen is LM215WF3 (SD) (D2).
I want to buy this part but I found this model: LM215WF3 (SD) (D1).
Can anybody tell me if it is going to work with mine?
Another question. What are the models that can work with my mac?

    Hi gajonormal,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have not already, I recommend calibrating your iMac display:
Adjust your display to show accurate color using Display Calibrator Assistant. The colors on your display can be altered by many factors, such as ambient light, the position and angle of the display, and the age of the display. Calibrate your display regularly to ensure accurate color.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Color.
Click Calibrate. Display Calibrator Assistant walks you through calibrating your display and then creates a calibrated color profile. For a more detailed calibration of your display, select the Expert Mode checkbox, which is at the bottom of the introductory text.
Some displays have additional built-in color accuracy and calibration features. For more information, see the documentation that came with your display.

  • LCD Inverter Cables... 4?

I took my iMac 20" 2 GHz aluminum apart the other day to replace a bad optical drive and upgrade the hard drive. When I took the display off, I forgot to mark on the inverter cables which went to which. There are 2 sets on the top and 2 sets on the bottom. Does polarity matter? Should I have marked which went to which before I just unplugged them? I figured they would have had some sort of system where you couldn't plug the wrong one into the wrong socket, guess not...

    Hi thebunges
According to > [iFixit|http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-iMac-Intel-20-Inch-EMC-21 33-and-2210-Inverter/999/4] it doesn't seem to matter which way they go.

  • LCD Monitor Compatibility

Is there a resource that shows what monitors are supported by the Mac mini 2010? I have 8 Sharp LL-172A-W (VGA) and using the mini display port to VGA adapter the Mac mini doesn't even detect the monitor. It did detect a Dell monitor (using the same VGA to mini port adapter). This stinks because now I have to buy 8 new monitors. These new mini's have been really tough to configure -- I tried using a generic netboot image -- no go. Now that I have to buy new monitors -- maybe -- these have not turned out to be a good deal at all.

Are you sure the monitor is set to receive input over the VGA input? Have you tried the DVI input on the monitor? You may have better luck with DVI.

  • 24" iMac LCD no backlight

I was just told that the inverter board is probably bad on the LCD of my 24" iMac. The screen is working, it just has no backlight so it is dark... I was wondering what my options are... fix the LCD inverter, replace the LCD inverter, or buy a whole new screen.
    I have a 2007 24" iMac.
    M-

    Hi!
I am connecting via a D-Link DIR655 11n capable router and have come across the same problem as lots of others on my Leopard based 24" white iMac. There was no problem when I had Tiger installed. I discovered that by turning off WPA (and probably any other) encryption it works. So now I have an unsecure network which is giving me nightmares.
I read elsewhere that the work around might be to set things up so that MAC address is used as a filter. I've not tried it yet. One of these work arounds might work. Still I think its time Apple "got their finger out" and resolved this problem that's plaguing many Mac owners.

  • Physical reason of the whine (CPU, LCD) - explanations and suggestions

    Hi everybody,
a friend of mine just received his MacBook Pro (2 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, 5400 RPM 100GB HD) yesterday.
I encouraged him to buy one of these machines in spite lots of people are complaining about the whine. We hoped he would be lucky to get one without the whine but we were disappointed.
The book has the whine (high pitched tone, very nasty). It is even louder when running from battery.
He will try out the book for a week and see if the whine is bugging him and
driving him crazy when working in a silent environment.
I would go nuts if I have to hear it all the time.
I studied lots of threads here in the discussion board but none had answered my questions.
    1) How do I know which whine - CPU or LCD whine - my friend's laptop has?
    2) What is an LCD inverter - 0 in 1 out - 1 in 0 out?
    3) What could be the physical reason for the CPU and LCD whine?
    4) Therefore what could be done to eliminate the whine technically in a correct way (not such 50% solutions like the mirror widgets or photo booth)?
    5) Will there be a real fix in the foreseeable future?
    Thanks for your help.

If you have the high-pitched whine that changes with LCD brightness, that is a recognized problem and can be fixed by changing the inverter board.
The whine related to CPU activity currently seems to be officially stated as normal by Apple (this might vary depending on who you talk to).
Am I right when I say that until Apple states that
the whine is actually a real problem we won't have a
    official solution for that?
Another question when a MacBook Pro has the whine is
this a hardware defect or can it be seen as working
    within normal parameters?
There are different reactions of Apple techs dealing
    with the problem.
Is it worth calling them because of the whine even if
there is no actual solution or fix for that problem?
    Thank you once again.

  • LCD Backight Issue

I have a t-60 with no backlight I have swapped LCD, Inverter, and Cable, any sugestions? Planar? dropping out third story window? Machine type is 2007-49U

hum, hopefully one of the more knowledgable guru or the mod can pitch in here. I have never changed the screen before, right now it seems that the motherboard is having problem, and that can be an expensive motherboard swap for relatively new system like yours. Hopefully, it doesn't come down to that and keep our fingers crossed it is just a loss cable somewhere.

  • HP IQ775 Dim LCD Screen

    Hi!
My HP IQ775 turns ON, splashes the hp logo and then the screen goes dim. Everything is working but the screen backlight does not stay ON. Can't be the LCD inverter as the backlight does turn ON at start. Does anyone have any idea why its doing it. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

The inverter is in the screen housing.
Bigger job to remove but not impossible.
10-15 mins if you have done it before.
You need to remove the hinge from the screen before you can remove the plastics.
That meens that you have to unplug and pull thru the 5 wires,
Front plastics off (you can leave the U shaped bit) ,
    Front metal shield off,
    Back cover off,
Now pull the wires to allow removal from main body.
    NOTE:
The wires cannot be streched long enough to attempt removal
so the wires have to come off along with the LCD body.
You aint never going to do it any other way.
Take the screen off the main body and work on it flat it will be easier.
So get the wires free and then remove the 8 hinge screws.
Oh do not forget to support the screen as you take out the screws.!!!
The plastics from the hinge then need to be removed and then you can get to the black screws.
Now the hinge shoud be totaly off.
The back and front plastics will snap apart fairly easy,
start at a top corner and release along the top, then sides then the bottom
Then just another 12 or so screws and your in.
Don't forget to tighten the 3 screws holding the screen mount to the hinge.
HP seemed to overlook that on quite a few 700 series.
Use a bit of thread lock if you fancy for best results.
    HOWEVER::
Now you mention that the graphics has already been under attack perhaps the fault is there.
Was the invertor working before you did what you did or was the backlight doing this before ?
Never seen a dead inverter though.
    Hv.
I never knew who HP were until my workshop got filled with faulty equipment. !! I know who Apple are now too.
