LCD problems, replaced cable now lcd has lost color

I replaced the lcd cable on my powerbook because of lines running horizontally across my screen and now I still have lines running across it and the screen seems to have lost color too.

Yes, I hooked up powerbook up to my desktop lcd monitor and it displays fine. Previously before replacing the cable I could open or close the monitor and the lines would move/disappear, after replacing the cable and switching it back the lcd looks like its a yellowish tint. I can twist the screen a little and the lines move but the color isn't coming back up.

  • Toshiba 32BV702 LCD has lost all power.

    Hi all,
I bought a brand new Toshiba 32BV702B 32-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview (to give its full name as advertised!) roughly 2 months ago from a UK Argos.
It has worked beautifully ever since, no problems what so ever. Until today. It was in standby mode as usual, i.e the red LED was glowing in the bottom left hand corner. I hit the ON button on the accompanying remote control as per usual, like I always do to turn it on, and the red LED disappeared as usual to signify the TURN ON command being processed, and then absolutely nothing happened.
The screen is completely black as if it has no power, the LED displays no colour at all, there is no audio and pressing ON/OFF on the remotre control does nothing. It is basically as if the TV isn't even plugged in, except for a very low volume, repetitive static/buzzing sound coming from the speakers. Every half second or so it just buzzes with a very light, quiet static sound, which proves that there is power coming from the mains, but the TV is just not responding.
I am obviously quite disappointed as it was not a cheap TV by any means and I have had it for less then 10 weeks. It is almost as if it has just completely blown out!.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
    All the best,
    Ben G.

  • My computer crashed hard drive was replaced and now I have lost my music.  Am trying to sync with my music from my iPad and iPhone but it is not working what is the problem

I need help please!  My computer crashed lost all data including my music.  Want to sync music from my ipad and/or iphone but it is not working.  What could be the problem how do I tackle it?

Syncing only works from your computer to your iPad/iPhone, not the other way around.  So you can only transfer your purchased music from the iPhone to your computer.
    See this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
My computer crashed lost all data including my music.
How bad was the crash? Had the drive to be replaced? Or is there a possibility to use data recovery software on that drive?

  • Updated and now it has lost all my history and bookmarks and won't open

I updated Firefox on 9/18/11. No problems until yesterday 9/22/11. I opened firefox and a window came up saying something like -oops, how embarrassing, we lost all your bookmarks and saved pages. That was bad but then it also wouldn't open anything after that and the rainbow wheel came up and the app did not respond further. I've tried: turning the computer off and on, deleting and re-installing firefox. I called AppleCare and they suggested I call you. I have a MacBook Air. Please help.

Thank you. I did just what you said and on my computer(sadly not an MacBook :( ) and I saw my things were still there. I "turned off" the iTouch and everything came back. But I did notice that every once in a while(it has happened 3 times within 15 days) my info(notes/contacts/calendar events/reminders/ and even access to my e-mail's junk folder) disappears randomly. Is there anything I should do to prevent it from doing that?

  • I crashed during bootcamp partition! Now HD has 'lost' 11GB?

    Can anyone help me?!
My machine crashed during my initial bootcamp partition. It got about 3/4 of the way through, but I then got a grey screen and warning and had to restart.
Since then my machine appears to be working fine but I have lost about 11Gb from my HD capacity (I was trying to do a 12Gb partition).
I have tried opening bootcamp, with a view to 'removing the partition' - but it just opens the initial bootcamp screen and does not recognise that there is partition. It gives me no option to "Create or remove a Windows partition".
I am loath to try another partition until I find my missing 11Gb! (I am short of space now anyway...)
    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Boot up your computer using the installation disc that came with your computer (hold down the C key while powering on your computer). Once you pass the first welcome scree (I believe this is the part where you select your language wait for the menu bar to appear up top then select Utilities > Disc Utilities .
Next select your drive and under the First Aid tab towards the lower right of the window there will be 2 options Verify and Repair.
Select repair and it will repair your drive. Once completed you can quit disc utilities (Command+Q) then exit out of the Software installer and select your start up disc.
Once it reboots it will go back to your desktop where can verify that it has reclaimed your loss HDD space.

  • Changed web host now email has lost all directories

Recently changed from 1&1 to Bluehost, kept same email address but obviously changed account settings. Now in Thunderbird all the old directories and saved email has disappeared in Thunderbird. Why? How do I get them back? The old host account was IMAP as is the new one. I really need the directories and the saved email, which by now is most likely gone from the old server. Already checked here the 'Moving Your Profile Folder' and 'Recovering a Profile That Suddenly Disappeared' articles and they did not seem to have the solution. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

IMAP is server based. You should have saved copies of your email to the Local Folders of Thunderbird on your computer before switching server. If the old hosting service has cleared the messages off the server there is not much you can do now.
You might contact them to see if the data is still available.

  • I have deleted my sons apple id and data from his old phone by accident as i thought i was resetting it for me to use and now he has lost everything on his new phone and his id etc does not work.  Can someone please explain how i am able to retrieve

Can someone please shed some light on this???
I thought i was resetting my son's iphone 4 so that I could use it. But I seem to have erased his icloud/apple id and all of his data from his new phone too.  His Apple ID doesnt work and cant be accessed as it now says it is disabled.  I have tried the iforgot.apple.com website without success and have no idea how to rectify.  I have requested a password change to his email address but that is not working either.
    Please help?

That sounds confusing.  First off, don't be too worried. There's practically no way to actually delete an Apple ID or it's purchase history.  You should be able to get to it back somehow.  Secondly, that's likely something that you'll need to talk to a real person on the phone for since it likely requires you to explain that you need access on behalf of your son, (who probably just set some security questions or an email address that you didn't know he put in.)  Just call the appropriate AppleCare phone line (800-APL-CARE in the USA, or see the link below for other countries) and tell them you want to talk about an iCloud account security question.

  • I had to wipe my PC, now itunes has lost all my music?

    Hi everyone (HELP) iphone 3gs
I had to wipe my PC I had backed up all my files to external harddrive, re loaded them on new PC and discovered when I plugged my iphone in to sync all my music files had dissapeared from itunes. itunes recognised my phone no probs when I plugged it in on new PC.
I thought everytime you plugged the iphone in it says it is making a backup of your phone if so how do I get it back (what really annoys me is that itunes in the first place took all my music file over and put it on to itunes if it hadn't of done this all my music would still be in my music folder outside of itunes).
    Cruella Deauville

    Hi
If I go into "my music" on the pc there is no music as itunes took it over.
there is an itunes folder but I can't access anything in it.
when you say did I restore itunes after the wipe how was I supposed to do that? I just plugged my phone in and it recognised it, its just that if you click on the music folders they are all empty, I didnt have all the music on my phone just some.
I don't ask itunes to backup my data I just noticed it says that's what it is doing just before it syncs.

  • Replaced motherboard now nothing but flashing colors (Video Test)

Power on and see nothing but one color at a time.  Red screen, Green screen, Blue screen, White screen, Black screen. Red screen, Green screen.............

    Hi! You might try this???
"It is quite possibly the hard drive is failing or has failed.  The reason you can't get into the bios or boot from a CD/DVD is because the bios it hanging trying to recognize the hard drive.  Try removing the hard drive and see if it will allow you into the bios or boot to a CD/DVD.  If it does, go the hard drive manufacturer's support site, downlod their hard drive diagnostic ISO image, then use the burn from image option to create the self booting cd, then boot to it and run the most exhaustive diagnosis on it if it will boot.  If you can't get it to boot to the diagnostic disk while the hard drive is installed you'll more than likely need to replace the hard drive.
If it won't get you into the bios or boot to a CD/DVD with the hard drive out of the system you need to try reseating the ram.  If that doesn't help you probably have a bad motherboard.  In this case it would more than likely be cheaper to just replace the laptop than fix it."
There is always the possibility that the new MB is bad. There's a reason it was on ebay

  • IPhone 3Gs screen has lost color

It doesn't appear to be a "White Screen of Death" because I can barely see the screen images. The phone is functioning with the exception of the color being almost gone. Any ideas?

Attempt a Hard Reset initially (Holding both the Home Button & the Sleep/Wake Button for 5-10s until you see an Apple Logo appear and then let go letting the iPhone boot up).
If this is not successful you will need to attempt to Backup & Restore the iPhone to Factory Settings to confirm if this is a Hardware fault or not.
If the issue is still present when the iPhone is at Factory Settings then this will confirm Hardware and you will want to either A) Contact Apple Support for Repair Options or B) Head into an Apple Retail Store

  • I updated to Mountain Lion and Mail has lost all my RSS feeds. Where are they?

I updated to Mountain Lion and now Mail has lost all my RSS feeds. What happened and where are they?

-------- "Your RSS data is not lost. You can find it in ~/Library/Mail/V2/RSS folder."
it's just as good as lost, if there is no way to load the info in that folder into a new reader.
i followed that path, ~/Library/Mail/V2/RSS, and I have almost 40 rss feeds. that means
there are nearly 40 folders that I would have to go into, one by one, and extract the pertinent
information, and import, one by one, into a new reader.
this is a problem that Apple created. I would have never used the mail.app as a reader
if I knew Apple was going to do this to us. And it makes you wonder what else Apple is
going to do to screw us loyal customers over. (why would they discontinue a feature, knowing
that it would mean lost data and a headache to their customers?)
does anyone have an automated solution to importing these files into a new reader?

  • 24" LCD has Super short mini-display cable that does not reach

I was setting up a 24" display (on an LCD arm) and i noticed the mini display cable is very, very short. It does not reach to the Mac Pro under the desk. I guess the 24" displays were made for laptops and did not expect that the cables would need to reach under a desk.
I couldn't find a Mini-display to Mini-display extender. Does anyone know of one?
Anyone considering two 24" monitors might want to review their own setup, to see if it works with the exceptionally short mini display video cables on the 24" display.

Charles, did you ever find a solution for this problem? I am ready to get a new Mac Pro and 24" display, but a 3 foot (1 meter?) cable is about two feet too short. I don't want to have the MP box sitting between my feet so it can be within 3' of the connector at the back of the display. I talked with someone at the on-line apple store today and he checked with an engineer and looked at the cable that comes with the display, and it was indeed only ~3' long. Since this type of monitor connection (the mini display port) is supposedly going to become the new "standard", I would hope that companies (e.g., Belkin, etc) will have high quality but longer cables available. I assume that the cable you have has the same mini display port plug on each end, and no adaptors are necessary?
If anyone has a solution to this short cable dilemma, please chime in!
    Thanks

  • Macbook LCD has lines

    Hello out there!
I dropped my 13" Macbook from the couch and now it has multiple colered vertical and horizontal stripes with a couple of  one inch and a two inch thick black vertical  vertical lines. Can anyone tell me if this is strictly an LCD issue or something else internal. The icons can be clicked through the lines and there seems to be no other issues with the computer. Help please!!!
    Thanks

Find your original OS X disks, and insert the one that says 'AHT Version x.x' in small print on the label (probably on the second disk). Reboot holding the alt/option key down, and choose the Apple hardware test. When prompted, choose the extended test. This will identify any obvious hardware errors. If it comes back clean, you might run it again, in extended mode.
If the Apple hardware test doesn't identify any hardware issues, reseat your memory (turn your system off, pull out the memory and put it back in). This Apple note describes how to do that.
If you still have the problem, you might take it to an Apple store and see what the Genius tells you.
