LCD screen brilliance control on Tecra 8200
My Tecra 8200 PT820E has at some time been formatted minus the Tosh. control software. Hand book says go to Control Panel/power saving and alter screen brilliance there. That does not exist on my machine.
The problem is when on battery power the brilliance level drops to an unreadable level. Is there any other way to increase the brightness level?
Thanks.
You can do this very easy by using FN+F7 to raise brightness level.
And I think it is supposed to be the Toshiba Power Saver where you have to look for that option.
This little utility can handle behaviour for power saving modes and there is an option how much display is darkened.

Tecra A9 - LCD Screen Extremely Dim
Hi all!
My 4 year old Tecra A9 recently developed a problem with the screen. While using it, i heard a zap and the screen cut out. It hasn't worked since. I've been able to plug it into an external monitor to keep using it though.
But i did find that the screen isn't actually dead, its just extremely dim. If i look really closely and shine a torch on it, I can see what's on the screen. This leads to me believe its something to do with the back-lighting in the LCD screen.
Also, I've checked, and its not a problem with the sensor thinking the lid is closed.
Anyway, I would like to know if anyone has an idea about what the problem specifically is? If so, is this the sort of problem that I can fix myself, or do i need someone from Toshiba to do it for me?
Thanks!Hi Matt89,
I agree with Akuma. If an external monitor works properly it looks like that the FL inverter is faulty. This inverter controls the backlight of internal display and even it would be faulty you can see the picture but very very dim.
If think the best would be contacting an authorized service provider. The guys can order an original FL inverter that is compatible and replace it for you because the display itself must be disassembled and thats not easy.
If your notebook isnt under warranty anymore dont worry because FL inverter is not so expensive. :) -
Control Panel LCD Screen is too dark.
Is there a way to brighten the LCD screen on the control panel? Thanks.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi @LeftyMike ,
I see that you would like to be able to lighten the LCD screen on the printer. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
I have checked through the menu structure and wasn't able to find anything for the brightness for the display.
Try tilting the control panel up for viewing, to see if the light shows up.
Touch a button on the display, just to make sure the printer isn't gone into sleep mode.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
If the issue persists, then I would recommend to call HP Tech Support for further assistance to see what other options are available for you at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Contact HP Worldwide.

Tecra 8200 wont start (blank screen)
Hi.
A friend of mine has asked me to help her with Tecra 8200 her notebook with WinXP/SP1 installed was sluggish. Being a gentleman, Ive accepted a call, and reinstalled WinXP Pro (originally, this model was shipped with Win98SE). Installation went right, but Ive noticed error entries in System Log regarding BIOS ACPI compliance (once, each time upon machine startup). I continued, installed SP1, successfully, but the ACPI problem remained. Everything else was fine (all HW detected, and appropriate (Microsoft/default) drivers installed). I was thinking of checking for a new BIOS release on Toshibas site, but I left BIOS update procedure for some other occasion.
Then, being intrigued with a problem, I have "cleverly" decided to actually test ACPI, so I put notebook in standby. And, that was it: now, machine doesnt want to start! The screen is blank, HDD is not spinning up, CPU fan is silent Power button is operational, but all I get is Power LED lit up Frustrating! I have tried to revive the machine with standard emergency procedure (switching off, and then back on, taking out battery pack, pressing various key combinations to enter BIOS setup) but accomplished NOTHING.
Searching posted notes on this forum, I have come only to one conclusion: "hardware malfunction take your notebook to ASP".
Is there anything else I could try?
Thnks, in advance.Hi Igor
All you tried was right but if there is no possibility to enter BIOS something is obviously faulty.
Sorry but it can really be some hardware problem. -
Hello,
I have noticed that T43 LCD screen all of a sudden while laptop in operation, getting darker and darker and becomes SO obscure to read!
I have checked the LCD connector and seems fixed at its position...What else should I come up with? According to the manual, first thing is to check the 'LCD connectors' and maybe the inverter card...However, this laptop is almost 10 years old and LCD panel never replaced so far..
rgds,
Aris
ATHi Steffen
On my old Tecra notebook I have had similar issue. From time to time the display started to flicker. One day after standby mode the display was completely dark. I was able to se that there is some open window but there was no background light.
In my case the display was replaced. Now I have new display and I am very happy. Now there is much more brilliance and I can work better than before.
To honest I am not a technician but I presume very soon you can expect totally display malfunction. -
Qosmio X305 screen not displaying like my desktops LCD screen
My screen seems to be displaying dull images.
I'm kinda concerened, because it's an LCD screen, and its not displaying like my desktops LCD screen.
I put the brightness up, and that helped to see the images better, but they still are not of the quality they should be.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is that just how it is?Many Desktop LCD Monitors can get very bright, much brighter than most notebooks. So it may just be how it is. Perhaps you could go to the shops and compare it to other X300's on display.
Try resetting or modifying the Contrast/Colour/Brightness settings in the nVidia control panel. -
Why do panel array positions change when I move to a computer with LCD screen?
I wrote a program in the lab and then moved it to the production area which
has a computer with an lcd monitor. The program has 3 arrays of clusters on
the front panel and each contain both controls and indicators. When I moved
it to the production computer the 3 array moved somewhat from their proper
positions. Also, each one moved a different distance. I wanted them to be
aligned so I ended up moving them out of alignment on the uncompiled copy so
that the production copy would be aligned correctly. Is there something
funny about lcd screens? Labview property node reports they are already
aligned and of equal height. Is there a way of forcing the arrays to align
no mat
ter what computer it is installed on?I've seen this before. If the resolutions are different it scales certain fonts
differently causing your controls to move. You need to make sure your using a
common font type and size between them or change your resolution on your desktop
to match the lcd's.
You can check the font on both machines to match them. One might have Arial 13,
20, 28 and the other Ariel 14, 20, 26. If you pick 20 it will go back and forth
ok, properly scaled.

New LCD screen shows no video until Windows desktop appears
I just got my first LCD screen a few days ago. Apple 23" Cinema Display.
When the system starts or restarts, I do not see the BIOS/startup info on the screen. The screen stays black until Windows desktop loads.
Is this normal for LCD screens?Yes I have LCD connected to DVI. When I look at desktop properties or in the nVidia control panel, I only see the LCD attached to the DVI as displays; I do not see the analog display at all.
I was suprised when I first noticed this since I always saw two display options when I had my CRT monitor attached to the analog connector before I got the new monitor, even though I had only one crt physcially attached. I just assumed that when the DVI connector is in use it auto shuts down detction of the analog option. Is this incorrect?
Also I looked for new monitor drivers at both MS and Apple and found nothing newer than the MS generic Plug and Play monitor dated 2002 that was installed by default. Is this to be expected too?
Thanks for your help. -
Is it possible to change the shattered glass instead of the LCD screen?
I've dropped my Iphone 5 and the glass has shattered, just curious if its possible to just change the glass in front of the LCD screen or if i'll just have to get the whole thing done??
I don't understand what your issue is? Add a "Map" control to your Report and follow the wizard, on the first page Switch to "ESRI shapefile" and select your .shp file and then go on.

Dirt behind LCD screen - common problem ?
Hi, I recently bought a toshiba EQUIUM A60-181 and I'm
experiencing a problem concerning the LCD screen.
There appears to be a defect or dirt behind the glass
because it's blocking light from a pixel. Any attempts at
apply moderate pressure to move this dirt has failed. I was
wondering if it's common with LCDs to expect some kind
of imperfection I cannot believe this has passed quality
control. Do i have justification for having it sent back
to toshiba for fixing it's only just 1 week old ??
I've read the warranty booklet and there's no mention of
dead pixel return policy can anyone elborate on what is
and what is not covered by the warranty ??
cheers,
Richard.I've emailed Toshiba technical support to see where I
stand with regards to my problem. Having discussed this
issue with friends on IRC it appears I may actually have
something called a dead pixel. This is suppose to be quite
a common problem and some manufacturers can actually sell
you laptops with defected LCD screens which to me is criminal.
Ive searched the entire Toshiba website with the regards
to dead pixel cover policy or what the warranty does and
does not cover. I understand that to replace the screen is
gonna cost Toshiba loads of money but I would have never
bought this laptop if I have been warned that it may
contain defects in the screen. I can tolerate most things
like noisy fans harddrives and scratches but not problems
with the screen especially one thats brand new.
cheers,
Richard. -
Simulating a CONTRAST changer on LCD screen
Hi All / KGLAD... :-)
I am making a simulator for an LCD screen and have the contrast changing with "btn_down" properly. I have an up button - "btn_up" that i would like to be able to control the contrast in the opposite direction, keeping track of the current color in the Array and moving back. I tried changing the code to increment negatively through the Array but something is screwy... It doesnt like the multiple duplicate values that i have and only works when "btn_down" has initially moved the array...
any suggestions??
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum. White spots on the LCD, typically a bright white spot most clearly seen against a white background like the forum, or google home page, is caused by pressure damage - pressure applied to back of the LCD panel.
Since you indicated that you have only had the system 1 day, unless you are aware of something that happened while in your care, I can only guess that the damage was done during transport or manufacturing. I would recommend you contact your point of purchase and ask to exchange the unit. I would also try to power up and inspect the new system immediately to make sure all is well.
Please also see my PM - I would like you to take a pic of the spot and email to me if possible. While random things happen, I'd like us to take a look at this.
Best regards,
Mark

Can I disable the LCD screen from displaying the Network Name or Password of my device?
Can I disable the LCD screen from displaying the Network Name or Password of my device? I feel that having this information readily available to any who can turn on my device is a security flaw.
I have change the network name and password and would like to secure that information .Worked with VZW tech support and finally found where you can disable or mask the display of the network name and password on the Jetpack LCD screen. You need to access the admin screen of your jetpack (http://my.jetpack/) . From there, navigate to Jetpack Settings --> Click on Wifi tab -- Click on the Wi-Fi Options link halfway down the page and it will show the two settings that control the display of network name and password.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words...here are screen shots showing how to get to these settings. ...
The LCD display will show ********* for the network name and password if the two checkboxes above are unchecked. I really think these settings should be disabled to be begin with.
Oh well...posting here to share with those interested... -

My LCD Screen burned out, but the computer still works. I currently have it connected to an HDTV via, Mini DVI to VGA, VGA to VGA on the tv. Problem is, I can't get the function bar (maybe not the right term) or the bar at the bottom with all my programs on it. I get my screen saver and have managed to drag (by sheer luck since I can't see anything on my iMac screen) some of my pics I had on my desktop over, but nothing else. Please help!
