LCD TV in Brazil

Hi, Im living in Brazil, and my mother is going to bring me a LCD TV, and I was wondering about the NTSC and PAL-M systems, my question is which TVs would be compatible with the PAL-M systems that we have here in Brazil? And if there are any TVs available with all the systems, so that you can turn on an AUTO, and plug it in?!
Please reply ASAP....THANK YOU for now!

  • Insignia LCD HDTV region problem

I just bought a 32" Insignia LCD TV at a Best Buy store in my trip to Orlando, Florida. I tested it at the hotel, and it was ok. The problem is that I came back to Brazil and now it is black and white only. Searching in the internet I realized that TVs has to be multi-region to work in every country of the world, and I had no info like that from the salesperson at Best Buy.
Does anybody knows what should I do, since I am not coming back to the US and I suppose Insignia has no technical assistance in Brazil?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Ilvasco,
Chances are that the reason why TV signals are not being displayed properly is because the United States and Brazil use two different TV broadcast standards (NTSC vs. PAL). Insignia TV’s sold within the United States only recognize the NTSC format, but you may be able to resolve that problem by using a PAL-to-NTSC set-top converter box. I personally cannot attest to how well these converter boxes function, so I’d strongly recommend reading as many reviews as possible before purchasing one!
    Hope this helps you out!

  • Help with sound to LCD TV when using HDMI

I would love any assistance with a problem I am having. I have a new mac mini with a 40" Proscan LCD. I am using a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter and am getting great video - 1080. My issue is that via Keynote I need to get sound to the LCD TV. It is coming through the mini speaker - what do I need to do to get the sound over to the TV? Any assistance would be appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The user guide which came with your TV should cover the issue in the different connections available for your unit.
DVI is video only. HDMI is audio and video. If you are using an adapter to connect DVI to HDMI there is no audio because of this. So to connect a Mac mini with a DVI to HDMI adapter you will also need an audio cable to run the audio from the mini's audio outport to an audio inport on the TV. This is why I refer you to the user guide for your unit, because it should point out the correct port to use on the TV, as well as point out if you have options for using analog or digital audio. The mini's audio ports can do both.

  • How can I connect my Early 2011" Macbook Pro 13" inch, with a generic Mini Display Port to HDMI connector, to a LG 32LD340 LCD TV, using Mountain Lion 10.8.2?

I have an Early 2011" macbook pro 13 inch (core i5 2.3ghz 4gb ram 320hdd) with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and I want to connect it via Mini DP to HDMI connector, and a HDMI cable to a LCD TV LG 32LD340. When I had Lion OS, I had no problems at all.

If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

  • How to connect my macbook pro to lcd

When I was shopping to buy hardware I brought a mini display to dvi & a dvi cable. When I got home I realised my lcd does not have a dvi port. I brought a
DVI Female to VGA Male adapter & connected it to my lcd. But my macbook doesnt to connect to my lcd. I am using windows 7 & osx.

For a 2010+ MBP you can connect with a Displayport to HDMI, which will include Audio.
With older MBP you will need a displayport to HDMI, if you want audio to the actually TV, then you will need to get a cable with either digital out from MBP to the HDMI, or USB audio mixed into the HDMI

  • Mini-DVI to VGA - online video freezes when dragged from MacBook to LCD TV

I connected my MacBook to my LCD TV this morning via Mini-DVI to VGA, and am trying to stream online video. The video works fine when the browser is on my MacBook screen, but when I drag it over to the LCD TV, the video freezes. I tried setting the screens to mirrored as well, and the video wouldn't play (on either). I'm not really sure what else to try. Any help would be appreciated!

    Try this...
With the TV connected, go into Displays Preferences and click on the Arrangement tab. You should see two blue rectangles meant to represent the two screens. One of the rectangles will have a white bar across the top, meant to represent the menu bar. Drag the small white bar from one blue rectangle to the other. This will move the real menu bar to the TV, making it the primary display. Now see if your video will play on the TV.

  • MacBook Mini-DVI to VGA - Samsung 32" LCD - Mode Not Supported

I followed the instructions on Apple's site to use the MacBook with the lid closed and an external LCD. It worked perfectly the first time I tried it. (I believe in 1920 x 1024). It seemed a little hard to read so I changed the Display resolution, then encountered the "Mode Not Supported" on my LCD. I unhooked and used my MacBook to change the settings back, but the MacBook seems to revert to the "Mode Not Supported" resolution when I close the lid. Any suggestions? Can I reset the Display Preferences on my MacBook?

I think this procedure should work, but it requires an external USB keyboard.
    - Shut down the Mac.
    - Have all the following connected:
    - MacBook power supply
    - External display
    - USB keyboard and mouse
    - Open the lid on the MacBook and hit the power button.
    - Immediately close the lid on the MacBook and start holding down the Shift key on the USB keyboard.
    - Release the Shift key once you see the spinning gear on the gray screen on the external display.
The above procedure should cause the Mac to start in Safe mode and hopefully will finish booting into a useable screen. If that is the case, go into Displays preferences and select a known working resolution different from the one the Mac started up in under Safe mode. Now restart normally. Hopefully the newly selected resolution will persist through the normal restart and you will have a working external screen again.

  • Macbook Mini-DVI to VGA...   To 1080p LCD tv

I was interested in buying a new display for my macbook, using the miniDVI to vga.
Then i saw that new TV's have VGA ports on them to act as moniters, and thought.
42" TV... or 19" moniter... hmm
Currently i have the miniDVI to video cord so i can use my TV as an additional moniter when playin games etc.
But its not clear enough to play the games on that screen.. its good for some videos
But text and games its not good at all.
Is the Mini DVI to VGA a good port?
Would i be able to hook it up to a TV or if not a bigger moniter and have it as clear as the display attached to the laptop?
    Macbook
    2.0GHz
    1GB ram
Vid card is just the old standard one when the black/white macbooks were still new.
Not the cool new ones with nice video cards

I have a 40 lcd tv and have my macbook hookuped to it using the mini display port to vga and it looks really good, but i only use it for watching movies. Dedicated monitors are still better for reading text or playing games

  • Mini-DVI to VGA cable... LCD TV has female input

I recently bought a mini-DVI to VGA adapter from an Apple store, to connect my MacBook with a broken screen to a UMC LCD TV. When it came to plugging the VGA end into the TV, I realised it has exactly the same connector (female I think) as the TV. This obviously means they will not connect, and I haven't been able to find a connector that will do the job. I was surprised to find that after a fair amount of searching no one else appears to have had this problem, so maybe I'm being stupid somewhere here. Thanks for help.

You need a VGA male-to-male cable to connect the Apple mini-DVI to VGA adapter to your LCD TV:
MacBook > Mini-DVI to VGA adapter > VGA male to male cable > LCD TV

  • Using LCD TV as Display

I have a 12-inch iBook G4, and I wanted to use my LCD screen as my display. I bought a Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter, when I connected it up the picture looked grainy. It looks like it wasn't scaled up just blown up (if you understand that). I can understand this because the computer isn't really sending a digital signal, just a video output signal (i don't think that makes any sense either). Is there any adapter that will make it look just as good as on my computer, or a setting i can change. Thanks in advance!

The problem is the way the iBooks are designed to output a secondary video signal. In most computers, attaching a secondary monitor gives you the option to either mirror your first display (ie, a copy) or extend your desktop (giving you twice the space for, say, icons).
iBooks, on the other hand, only have the ability to mirror. The ability to extend your desktop to the external monitor has been disabled in the firmware. This means that your iBook, essentially, sends the *exact same* video signal to both screens. What you see on your laptop screen is what you get on the LCD. Including resolution.
If I recall correctly, you can scale that image down, but not up. The grainy image your describing is the signal being, as you said, blown up by the monitor itself.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about this. There are ways of hacking this problem, but none of them are supported by Apple.

  • Laptop-mode-tools no longer adjusts LCD brightness

I just discovered that laptop-mode-tools no longer adjusts the brightness of the LCD when switched to battery. This is not a general issue. laptop-mode is active on battery (as well as being enabled via the systemd service), the computer knows it is on battery (checking with on_ac_power and reading from /sys/class/power_supply/*/* give the expected results) and other things are correctly adjusted e.g. bluetooth is blocked with rfkill. Moreover, as root I can adjust the brightness in the usual way by hand:
    echo 10 >| /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
works just fine. The >| is needed because for interactive shell's, root's .bashrc sets noclobber. This obviously doesn't affect laptop-mode tools because it doesn't run an interactive shell. In contrast:
    $ cat /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/lcd-brightness.conf | grep -v "^#"
    DEBUG=1
    CONTROL_BRIGHTNESS=1
    BATT_BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND="echo 7"
    LM_AC_BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND="echo 10"
    NOLM_AC_BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND="echo 12"
    BRIGHTNESS_OUTPUT="/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness"
DEBUG wasn't 1 when the problem started. I tried setting it to get more info but haven't found anything more in the journal/logs.
KDE is set to not touch the default brightness at all. All it does is (further) dim the display after so many minutes depending on the power supply and status.
This did work fine but I haven't been on battery for a while so I'm not sure when exactly it stopped working. My brightness is set by default to 12 on boot or wake from sleep which suggests laptop-mode tools does something or something else is now handling this which I'm not aware of. But the switch to battery does not trigger any alteration in the brightness and laptop-mode status does not even mention LCD brightness as one of the things laptop-mode tools controls.
Have I missed a change in how this is handled somewhere?

I doubt this is related but it is currently my only lead so here goes. I set the LCD brightness control for debug so I've been trying to watch it. However, so far it is all smiles e.g. on boot it all works fine and says so.
However, I found I'm getting another error on boot which is
/usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/pcie-aspm: line 10: write error: Operation not permitted
Note that I copied that by eye from VT1 so if a colon is out of place, that's why.
The contents of that file is:
    #! /bin/sh
    # Laptop mode tools module: PCIe Active State Power Management
    if [ x$CONTROL_PCIE_ASPM = x1 ] || [ x$ENABLE_AUTO_MODULES = x1 -a x$CONTROL_PCIE_ASPM = xauto ]; then
    if [ $ON_AC -eq 1 ]; then
log "VERBOSE" "On AC power: setting pcie_aspm to default"
    if [ -f /sys/module/pcie_aspm/parameters/policy ]; then
    echo default > /sys/module/pcie_aspm/parameters/policy
    if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM set to 'default'"
    else
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM tweaking is prohibited by the kernel"
    fi
    else
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM is not available"
    fi
    else
log "VERBOSE" "On battery: setting pcie_aspm to powersave"
    if [ -f /sys/module/pcie_aspm/parameters/policy ]; then
    echo powersave > /sys/module/pcie_aspm/parameters/policy
    if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM set to 'powersave'"
    else
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM tweaking is prohibited by the kernel"
    fi
    else
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM is not available"
    fi
    fi
    else
log "VERBOSE" "PCIe ASPM power savings module is disabled"
    fi
So I assume it is saying it cannot write to /sys/module/pcie_aspm/parameters/policy but the permissions etc. on that, at least, don't look strange:
    l /sys/module/pcie_aspm/parameters/
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Gor 25 21:24 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Gor 25 21:23 ../

  • In Brazil. . . Do I need an adapter to plug in my HP Mini 110 into a 220 Voltage plug?

Hi! I'm living in Brazil for a while and just got here. I have an HP Mini 110 and the plugs here say 220V. Is it safe to plug in my computer or do I need some kind of converter? If so what kind?
My power is about to run out!!!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Sasha

No. The power brick for the iPod senses the voltage and adjusts for the different ones.
You will need an adapter to switch form flat us pins tot the round pins used on their plugs.

    Exemplificando:

  • Iphone 5 - 64GB (APPLE BRAZIL) - DANGER!!!!

    language: portugues (Brasil)
    subject: customer service Brazil.
    Boa noite,
    ID CASE: 391104143
    Protocolo ligação: 391059417
    ID REPAIR: D81262649
    etc.
    Alguem saberia me informar:
    Onde encontra-se meu Iphone?
E minha conta telefonica?
Quem pagará a estadia e despesas?
    Att.

  • WHT calculation for IRRF for Brazil

    hello,
We are implementing SAP in CHEP Brazil and needed help with WHT configuration for IRRF WHT for natural person. The standard SAP configuration doesnu2019t have space to enter deductable tax amount.
I am referring to 'Imposto de Renda Retido na Fonte'.
It has to be calculated in the following way:
    For example:
From R$ 1.434,60 to 2,150 you have to withhold 7,5%, BUT from this 7,5% tax amount you have to deduct 107,59 R$ and then the slab varies fro tax deduction.
There is no place in SAP deduct tax amount from the calculated amount of withholding, the only possibility is to deduct from the base amount.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    JD

JD, was talking with Fernando on this one further yesterday as I am in the process of updating rates for the coming year right now. First and foremost and I would agree with the suggested sol'n for entering 'calculation formula'. Basically transposing what is indicated by the Brazil gov't into that view in the config. Depending on min/max configuration that you have, then you can deduce the logic of your posting using SAP utility RFWT1000. In walking through this utilty we were able to ascertain that the "parcela" value is applied to base value minus exemption result. The parcela is calculated as follows (I believe) ...
    1,499.15               0.00     0.00     0.00
    2,246.75               7.50     0.00     1,499.16
    2,995.70               15.00     0.00     2,246.76
    3,743.19                22.50     0.00     2,995.71
    99,999,999,999.99  27.50     0.00     3,743.20
First you take 1499.15 * 7.5 % gets you 112.43 this is parcela value used in calculation in second level. Then you take 2246.757.5% + 112.43 to get 280.94, this is parcela value used in calculation in third level. Then you take 2995.77.5%280.94 to get 505.62, this is parcela value used in calculation in fourth level. Then you take 3743.19*5%505.62 to get 692.78, this is parcela value used in calculation in fifth level. Note the change in the multiplier to 5 % in the last example. All of this falls in line with entries on Brazil Gov't website:
Hope this helps, please revert if not.
    Thanks,
    Jay
