LCM Import

Going from one environment to the other I get this error,
Location:- ERPI-102173:Import for Location failed...
I would hate to think I need to create all the Locations manually so I can import all the other Scripts/Formats, etc...that's why I just started with the Location...
Suggestions?
Thanks,
PR

Hi beyourbest,
I think that you'll probably need to check the LCM import log to see why the import failed. There are all sorts of dependencies that are required and LCM is unfortunately not intelligent enough to point out any potentially missing dependencies at the export stage like the DRM migration utility would do. A bit of a fail IMHO
You usually need to start of by ensuring that any source and target applications exist before importing anything into FDMEE that depends upon the applications. The LCM logs after the import failure will usually give you pointers about exactly why an import failed so that would be the first place to check for me and then take it from there.

    Hi,
LCM import of Planning Application Hangs with "In Progress Status" . its already couple of hours. Earlier it was always within 10 mins.
    Any advise is appreciated.

It is probably worth trying again, may be useful to first bounce the services.
If it happens again after bouncing the services then investigate at what staging it is getting stuck at.

  • LCM import destination

    Hello,
I'm tasked with using LCM to export all my IR reports from Prod and import into my Dev environment. Both environments are 11.1.2.2. This is my first experience using Shared Services and LCM so please bear with me if my questions do not provide enough information. I'm trying to learn by doing here
My (very) basic steps to this: Prod Shared Services I select Repository Objects > Export > Transfer export files to my Dev File System > Dev Shared Services select the file from the File System node > Import
My question is: Can I change the import location for the artifacts? I want to copy all of the Prod repository items (along with the folder structure) into a single folder in my Dev environment. E.g. all my reports in Prod under \Prod_Root\Folder1\ and \Prod_Root\Folder2\ I want to import into \Dev_Root\Testing_Folder\Folder1\ and \Dev_Root\Testing_Folder\Folder2\
    Thanks in advance!
Also, just to be clear, I am NOT trying to change the import_export folder location.

    Thanks for the response Celvin.
My current dev environment was an import of prod (done prior to my arrival). So my root folder structure is almost identical. However, these reports have been modified and replaced in between then and now. I want to keep these folders/files intact so that the developers can continue working on them and not be affected by my work. My goal is to import the complete folder structure with files from Prod into a separate folder in Dev under root. When I import now from Prod it just overwrites my current folder in Dev. If I could just import and rename I would rather that than messing with the xml but I don't think that is an option in my situation.

  • LCM import error

Planning 11.1.2.2.303, all planning services run on windows, essbase and Oracle tables run on linux.
I am trying to move a classic application from one environment to a new environment. I have exported all the "Planning" components from the source environment.
In the new environment I have created the new application (slighlty different app name, but same DB names) thru the planning web wizard, and defined all 11 dimensions, set performance and evaluation order.
I am trying to import the LCM information to fill in the rest of the applicaiton and am receiving this error on the import...
EPMLCM-30047: Failed to connect to "[none] " while performing import for application - "USROTRD". Received status code - 500 with error message - "LCM engine did not provide a migration Id. "
    for all object types.
I have searched My Oracle Support KM, Google, etc, with no information on this error. Does anyone know what this means?
    TIA,
    Robert

I have tried it both ways.
The first time I parsed thru the xml files and changed the application name (thankfully the app name was unique enough that a simple find/replace was all that was needed). When I did it this way there were only some objects that were receiving the error, mainly those objects associated with the plan2 cube (but not all objects for plan2 cube). I looked thru some of those xml files and it appears that all looks good as far as app/db names and folder locations.
The second time I simply tried exporting the old app name and loading to the new app from that directly and then the error shows for what seems to be all objects.
    Robert
Is that the same message repeated for all objects( after you replaced the old app with new app)? Did you check the log files to see whether there are any other?

  • Can LCM import form security?

We are on Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 and used LCM to migrate and app from UAT to Prod. We migrated all artifacts over, but the form security is not there. We see the groups when we try to add access, but the access is not on the form folders themselves as they are in UAT. Is LCM able to import the security for forms like the dimension security? Thanks in advance.

Yes. LCM can import form and form folder security. I tend to export to the file system first. That way, I can see exactly what's in the XML files, plus I have an arcihve of what got migrated.
If you export to the file system first, you should see form and form folder security in the following directory:
    resource\Security\Access Permissions
In that folder there will be a Users.xml file, and also a directory for Groups. If you look in the XML, you should see security assigned for forms and folders.
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake

Application artifact listing metadata contains duplicate resource information for /Objects/Application Model.
Empty Zip input stream. Data not available to save.

  • Can't see some Business Rules after running the Import via LCM

I am trying to migrate our Business Rules down from Prod to Dev to get them back in sync. Here is the steps I have run:
Export ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Prod via LCM
I confirmed the export directory contains an .xml file for EACH Rule.
copied the export directory down to Dev Shared Services server
Turned on DEBUG for Shared Services
Deleted ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Dev EAS BR repository
I confirmed that ALL BUsiness Rules are listed and checked in LCM Import.
run the Import from Dev Shared Services via LCM
I get a Completed successfully message. No Errors.
I Refresh Rules in Dev EAS and I only see 25% of the Business Rules listed.
I have tried to Stop/Restart the EAS services and still nothing.
I confirmed that the ID I am using to Export / Import has access on each Business Rule either directly or via a Group that has access.
    Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance for any assistance on this!
    Robert

    Thanks John!
I was really trying to get it done via LCM since I have all other migrations being done there. but I ended up taking your advice and doing it the old fashion way via EAS export.
    To answer your questions:
    We are on 11.1.1.3
I did not see any problems in the Services logs for EAS. Nothing that stood out.
We are migratiing 66 Rules and 15 Sequences.
We are using Weblogic instead of Tomcat.
Even though I have a workaround for the issue I am still interested in understanding why some of them did not import via LCM. You mentioned that you might consider adjusting some config settings. What settings would you recommend looking at?
    Thanks again John!

  • Import a business rule with LCM

    Hi,
I have edited a new version of a business rule. After exporting it with LCM in development, I tried to import it (with LCM) on my test environment.
It appears that, even if the LCM import is successful my business rule (that already exist on my test environment) wasn't replaced.
Is there any parameter I have missed somewhere, because I can replace existing webform, or any planning components, but I can't replace business rules.
    I'm using Planning 11.1.1.3
    Regards,
    Franck

    Hi,
If you want to replace a Business Rule into Planning using LCM you have to follow these steps:
If you use Business Rule Server:
    1. Connect to Essbase Application from LCM console
    2. Find your business rule and replace it
    If you use Calc manager:
    1. Connect to Calc Manager Application from LCM console
    2. Find your business rule and replace it
    3. Connect to Calc Mananger console and Deploy your Business Rule
Remark: You can replace it directly from your planning application

  • Essbase filter assignment while importing the security through LCM

    Hi Experts,
My source server is Essbase standalone 11.1.2.1 and my destination is Essbase 11.1.2.4, obviously shared services security.
I just created some test users/ groups/ filters in 11.1.2.4 and did export through LCM and got the actual format of users/ groups/ roles CSV files. Then I just did edit all these CSV files with my source 11.1.2.1 users/ groups details with the respective roles and tried importing it in the same 11.1.2.4 server.
I was successfully able to create all the users groups and its roles assignment. But I got stuck up with the filter assignment for the groups... I mean my groups are assigned with the role 'Filter' at the 11.1.2.4 environment but I dont know how to get the actual filter assigned to these groups.
I know in Applications group we can assign filters manually using Assign access control but how to do it with the LCM import itself? is there any options/ tricks available or do we need to do it only by manually?
    Thanks,
    Siva

Not tried the maxl create group but it is deprecated in 11.1.2.4
Anyway there is nothing wrong with groups in EAS 11.1.2.4

  • Error when importing Shared Dimension through LCM

We are using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 with an EPMA application. We have one environment where all of the dimensions are in the Shared Library, and the application dimensions are shared from there (DEV environment). In another environment, we have the same application, but its using only local dimensions (UAT environment)
We are looking to migrate some changes to members from DEV to UAT, but don't want to share the dimensions in UAT (yet anyways). Here is how I was going about migrating the dimensions:
    1. In Shared Services in DEV, exporting the dimensions from EPM Architect from Foundation Services (from under Dimensions (Shared))
    2. In Shared Services in UAT, importing the dimensions from the file system into EPMA from Foundation Services (into Dimensions (Shared)), then using the "Synchronize > From Shared Library" to push those changes to the application's local dimensions.
When I import the file system from DEV into UAT, the import fails and gives me the following error message for the Account dimension (only trying the one dimension for now):
    REPORTED WITHOUT ERROR DETAILS
Here is a link to the screenshot of the error: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12604803/HSS-LCM-Error.jpg
It appears that the LCM import does work as it creates the dimension in the Shared Library, but I am not sure why I am getting this error message.
I also tried to import the exported Shared Dimension for Account directly into the application (rather than the Shared Library) by just moving the "Account" file from:
    <export file name>\resource\Dimensions (Shared)
    to
    <export file name>\resource\Application Metadata\Planning Applications\<appname>\Common Dimensions
And this imports without any errors! I'd rather not go this way as it's more of a manual process, and I'd like to keep it as straightforward as possible.
I have searched the error message on OTN, the Oracle Knowledge Base and Google, but haven't really been able to come across any real information.
Any insight you may have would be greatly appreciated!

More of an update. We have a sandbox environment as well, and I was able to import the Shared Dimensions through LCM without any issue on that server.
I also tried rebooting the server with the issues, but still get that cryptic error message.
I looked through the logs and saw this in the EPMA.log
    2011-03-31 15:51:13,194 [[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] ERROR com.hyperion.awb.web.lcm.ArtifactManager - Error code is AWB_WEB_ERR_LCM_IMPORT_ARTIFACTS_PATHNAME
2011-03-31 15:51:13,194 [[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] ERROR com.hyperion.awb.web.lcm.ArtifactManager - doImportArtifacts: Error importing 'Account' at path '/Dimensions (Shared)'
Seems to be connected to the issue I am having, but couldn't find anything on OTN, Oracle KB or Google. Other imports to this environment work, so not sure why the pathname would throw issues.
I also verified that EPMA and HSS on all environments are using the same version.

  • Error when importing artifacts using LCM from 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.2

    Hello Gurus,
I am having issues when perform an LCM import to a different server. Following is what I get
    Could not read zip file
    EPMLCM-37015: Cannot Zip.
Warning in migrating artifact, "/Configuration/Properties/Application Definition".
EPMLCM-37038: Cannot perform migration. Unable to find artifact resource - Application Definition in the source application. I am not sure what needs to be done.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

In 11.1.2.2 if it is a classic application then a Planning LCM export will contain "Application Definition.xpad", this does not exist for EPMA applications. For classic it will create the application.
For EPMA applications there will be a "Application Settings, Shared Dimensions, Filters and Overrides" file when an LCM EPMA export is run, the information in the file is the equivalent of the application definition file for a classic planning application.
For an EPMA application which doesn't exist you probably have to first LCM the EPMA artifacts then deploy which will create the planning application, then run an LCM for the planning artifacts
It does say even if it is an EPMA application that it will create the application if it does not exist but will fail because the "Application Definition.xpad" does not exist, whether this is the way it is meant to work or a bug I am not sure as I usually create the application first.
    Cheers

  • LCM issues with Workflow, Task Lists, etc.

I have found several issues with migrating certain artifacts using LCM v11.1.1.3. Note that I have admin rights in all systems, and that there are no special characters involved. So...
    1) Workflow: when migrating Planning Units all of them migrated, including their statuses. But not all PU comments (<annotation>) and logs (<log>) nodes migrated. It happened to almost all users - some who had 1-2 comments in the source system haven't got any in the target one, some got migrated only few (e.g. out of 5 in source, they got 3 in target). Since it happened to all users, it doesn't seem to be security. I have also checked (for those who partially failed) some other nodes, sequence, action, process state - they all seem to be OK. One curiosity I've spotted in few cases, is that in source LCM file (.xml) "priorOwner" node has the name of the user I am investigating, while in the target file (taken after the migration), for that same PU, that node is empty, actually says "null".
Any ideas why this might be happening?
    2) Task Lists: when exporting TLs (in LCM) on occassion <dataForm> node in XML file would be missing for the task that actually has it attached. Again, no special characters are used, and I am admin. Then I tried to use TaskListDefUtil, and even if that list has required node, when I try to import, the task is still not attached to the form. I had to delete all TLs, then use Util files to reimport.
    Anyone with similar experiences?
    smilo

I had issues with tasks lists using LCM in instances where parent task name was same as child task or a task has same name planning web forms. You might also find issues with exporting webforms with business rules attached to forms where form is on plan type A and business rule is on plan type B. In this case, after LCM import, plan B business rule will lose location reference to correct plan type and get associated with web form plan type. In this case you will need to attach business rules again.
