LCM Question - V11.1.2

Hello All,
We have 2 environments. Dev & UAT. We have Dev app which has dimensions, some forms & tasklists which are few days behind what is in the UAT in terms of forms, BR & Tasklists.
We migrated the Dev to UAT using LCM. I suppose all went well. However due to dev changing again, we took another export of the dev env and re-migrated the stuff to UAT. All seemed to go successfully, however I notice that it has not overwritten any of the stuff and is still in the same state as before. On Default application group the update date has changed to new date but no update to forms, task lists etc. No errors reported.
Any clues on the same? Has anyone encountered similar problems before?
Any tips would be appreciated. If it is an Oracle issue, we will raise a SR as it is very critical to having multiple environments in synch.

It should definitely update, it probably won't delete if you have removed forms etc from your source but not target.
It may be worth restarting the planning application service and trying again.
I know there was issues in 11.1.1.x with timestamps on files that stopped the updating on the target but I think that is resolved now.

    Just a quick question, for the BW connections created by IDT, could we transport them by LCM?
    Someone told me it is not supported and you have to modify it manually after transport it to QA/PRD, just want to confirm that.

    to be honest i didnt done it so far on BI4. But i can imagine that this is pretty analouge to XI 3.1. What means you can transport them but afterwards you have to switch them manually to the designated Datasource.
    Lets say you transport a Universe connection from your BI4 DEV environment (which was connected to your BW DEV) to your BI4 Q&A System. After that action you have to open the connection manually and switch it to your BW Q&A System.

  • LCM question: Error when updating/promoting universe

    Hi ya'll.
    For some reason our universe got deleted in our Dev environment and we had to get a copy from Prod and copied it back Dev.
    Now whe we are trying to migrate a report the Manage Dependencies function does not seem to work. It doesn't detect teh reports anymore. I did a check using the check relationships it doen't not grab any report anymore.
    So what I did was manually included the universe in my objects list and when I promote i got thi serror message
    Resolution Status=Copied, Dependency Status=All Required Dependencies Included, Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed, Promotion Status=Failure : Trying to create an object with duplicate name. Id = 6962
    Any help is really appreciated. thanks.

    One thing I noticed that the reports are no longer assocaited to a universe when I checked it in CMC. Is there a way to manually attach a universe to the report? I think this will solve the problem.

    LCM migrate log tell me that some forms has incorrect characters such as ":".
    After renaming forms migrate process has been passed successfully.

  • HFM V11 upgrade questions

    Hi All,
    We are in the process of upgrading our HFM application from V9.3.3 to V11.
    I would like to seek your opinion / views on following questions re: HFM upgrade.
    1) If we are upgrading now - is it better to upgrade to HFM V11.1.2.4 or V11.1.2.3.500?  Is HFM V11.1.2.4 stable enough?
    2) Our current HFM V9 application is classic application.  If we upgrade to HFM V11 - is it better to upgrade to EPMA application or still remain with HFM Classic application?  Is HFM Classic application (without EMPA) supported by Oracle?
    Thanks in advance for any suggestion / tips / pointers.

  • FDM v11.1.2 - Report Question

    I am working with FDM v11.1.2 trying to add the target account description to
    the trial balance reports. I have done this in previous versions but the same
    methodology doesn't appear to work in the new version. The account description
    is still blank on the reports. I tried to the check the tDimAccount table to
    see if it was populated but the access to tables through the table editor is no
    longer available. Also, I noticed that the update dimension cache script that
    was included in previous versions is missing. Is this something different in
    the new version or do I need to manually add the script?
    Has anyone had any luck adding the account description to FDM reports? Thank

    The method is the same. The tDimXXXX tables must be populated.
    Also, the table editor has been removed since v11.1.1.3.0.00
    The population of the table is still done via a script. The script is imported with the adapter and is named: "HFM_LoadDimTables"
    If you do not have that script in your application; than the import of the adapter was not done properly.
    I just checked my v11.1.2.0.00 environment and the Adapter XML for verification.
    Also I believe it is also noted in the HFM Adapter ReadMe Documentation.

  • Questions on InfoView Encyclopedia

    Hi Experts,
    I have some questions on the Encyclopedia feature:
    1) Seems the information maintained in the Encyclopedia can only be viewed on the Infoview screen. Is there any possibility to have this information automatically printed out together with the Webi report (eg. exported together with the report contents in a pdf file for printing)?
    2) For Glossary Terms, although I have maintained the long description for a term and selected it for a report, I cannot see the description in the Encyclopedia for the report. I can only see the names of the Glossary terms without the description. May I know if any setting can be done to display the description automatically on the Encyclopedia area?
    3) Can the information specified in the Encyclopedia be migrated to another BO instance (using LCM or Import Wizard)?

    For point 1, I realize the description is shown on the screen, but only as 'tooltip'.
    Hi experts, has anyone successfully printed the encyclopedia info with the report? If there is no straightforward way to do so, can the info be extracted from the BOBJ database? If this is possible, we'll think of a way to print out the extracted info.

  • A question viewing certifcate information via the padlock symbol in IE 11 (works on Chrome brower)

    Can someone please help me with the following questions,

    1:
    I have a CA whose CA certificate has an Issuance (aka certificate) Policy.
    Next I created a CSR for a WEBServer certificate, I created the CSR by first creating a .inf (request file) containing the usual including the following
    [RequestAttributes]
    CertificateTemplate=WebServer
    OID=1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1
    IssuancePolicy="My Certificate Policy"
    OID=1.3.6.1.4.145389.1.1.1
    Turned the above into a CSR (base64 encoded) then submitted and retrieved the relevant certificate from the CA
    If I open the certificate flat file the resultant certificate has the relevant Issuance Policy listed under the section
    ‘This certificate is intended for the following purposes’
    So all good so far
    Next I install the certificate to the WEB Site and bind it etc. When I go the WEB Site e.g.
    Https://TestSite the certificate works and the traffic is encrypted etc… e.g. click on the padlock in Internet Explorer provides the expected information, but when I click on View Certificate via this padlock symbol; in Internet
    Explorer the certificate come up OK but under
    ‘This certificate is intended for the following purposes’
    It does not show my issuance policy e.g. just the standard application policy for a WEBServer cert.
    If I then look under the details/extensions tab of the certificate it does show certificate policy under the certificate policies extension, so looks OK from the extensions tab, but policy does not show up under ‘This certificate is intended for the following
    purposes’ when certificate is viewed via padlock on IE but does show up if I open the certificate flat file (either original certificate file or copy to file then view certificate as a flat file).
    The OID for the policy is registered in both active directory and local OID databases.
    So the question is why do I not see the issuance policy when viewing cert via padlock in IE but does when viewing flat file.
    I am using IE 11.x
    When doing the same thing from Chrome browser the certificate policy does show up OK, therefore is this a possible bug with IE 11.x

    The OID is in the Issuing CA Certificate (online CA) e.g. was part of the CAPolicy.inf file when installing the Issuing CA. The OffLine Root and OffLine Policy CA have the All Issuance Policy set in their CA Certificates.
    briefly as mentioned above when opening the cert (.cer) as a flat file by double clicking on it you can see the Issuance Policy listed as expected. When viewing the same cert via Internet Explorer (v11.x) PadLock > View Certificate it shows the Application
    Policy, but not the Issuance Policy (e.g. in the general tab) but does show the Issuance Policy under Extensions Tab. If I use Chrome, click on the PadLock > View Certificate it does show the Issuance Policy (as it always does when opening the flat
    file).
    Therefore was kind of wondering if a Bug in IE, when doing a CertUtil -f -urlfetch -verify Cert.Cer it passed all tests and shows it was validated against the Issuance Policy OK, therefore  perhaps bug in IE
    No big deal, just wanted to know if any one else saw this or was another explanation

  • Query help needed for querybuilder to use with lcm cli

    Hi,
    I had set up several queries to run with the lcm cli in order to back up personal folders, inboxes, etc. to lcmbiar files to use as backups.  I have seen a few posts that are similar, but I have a specific question/concern.
    I just recently had to reference one of these back ups only to find it was incomplete.  Does the query used by the lcm cli also only pull the first 1000 rows? Is there a way to change this limit somwhere?
    Also, since when importing this lcmbiar file for something 'generic' like 'all personal folders', pulls in WAY too much stuff, is there a better way to limit this? I am open to suggestions, but it would almost be better if I could create individual lcmbiar output files on a per user basis.  This way, when/if I need to restore someone's personal folder contents, for example, I could find them by username and import just that lcmbiar file, as opposed to all 3000 of our users.  I am not quite sure how to accomplish this...
    Currently, with my limited windows scripting knowledge, I have set up a bat script to run each morning, that creates a 'runtime' properties file from a template, such that the lcmbiar file gets named uniquely for that day and its content.  Then I call the lcm_cli using the proper command.  The query within the properties file is currently very straightforward - select * from CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_ANCESTOR = 18.
    To do what I want to do...
    1) I'd first need a current list of usernames in a text file, that could be read (?) in and parsed to single out each user (remember we are talking about 3000) - not sure the best way to get this.
    2) Then instead of just updating the the lcmbiar file name with a unique name as I do currently, I would also update the query (which would be different altogether):  SELECT * from CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_OWNER = '<username>' AND SI_ANCESTOR = 18.
    In theory, that would grab everything owned by that user in their personal folder - right? and write it to its own lcmbiar file to a location I specify.
    I just think chunking something like this is more effective and BO has no built in back up capability that already does this.  We are on BO 4.0 SP7 right now, move to 4.1 SP4 over the summer.
    Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

    Just wanted to pass along that SAP Support pointed me to KBA 1969259 which had some good example queries in it (they were helping me with a concern I had over the lcmbiar file output, not with query design).  I was able to tweak one of the sample queries in this KBA to give me more of what I was after...
    SELECT TOP 10000 static, relationships, SI_PARENT_FOLDER_CUID, SI_OWNER, SI_PATH FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS,CI_APPOBJECTS,CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE (DESCENDENTS ("si_name='Folder Hierarchy'","si_name='<username>'"))
    This exports inboxes, personal folders, categories, and roles, which is more than I was after, but still necessary to back up.. so in a way, it is actually better because I have one lcmbiar file per user - contains all their 'personal' objects.
    So between narrowing down my set of users to only those who actually have saved things to their personal folder and now having a query that actually returns what I expect it to return, along with the help below for a job to clean up these excessive amounts of promotion jobs I am now creating... I am all set!

  • Questions on Calculation Scripts

    I have two questions on Calculation Scripts:
    1. When executing a Calculation script via the Administration Services console (right-click execute) besides the Messages lower window pane, is there a detailed log/trace of the script activity?
    2. We had a calc script #1 and we wanted to modifying it. We cut the entire script out into Windows notepad, made the adjustments then paste back into the script. When we go to parse it came back with validation errors. However if we simply edit the existing script within the console (do not cut and paste outside of AAS) it correctly validates. Bug? Limitation?

    Just to add to that, each application has its own log.
    For example if you the Sample essbase application will have a log named sample.log and will be located in <essbase home dir>\app\sample or in V11 <hyperion home>logs\essbase\app\sample

  • Being prompted to update Flash, ignore?  v11.2.202.228 and v11.2.202.229 Google Chrome

    Just prompted by Adobe that an upgrade to Adobe Flash Player is available – within the bullets say includes security enhancements.
    Two weeks ago I was made aware that there were security vulnerabilities with Flash.  My laptop was infected (3/26).  One of the recommendations from my anti-virus software company was to keep all Adobe products updated, especially Flash.  Also, I was given the recommendation to consider choosing a less common browser than IE; he used Google Chrome which has its own security features.  I had used Chrome once before when it was beta but downloaded the new Chrome, set security settings and testing it out.  A few days later, someone I know also in the IS community said their company (a large international company) is uninstalling all Adobe products from all of their employee computers completely.
    In reading the Developer Release Notes, this upgrade is for v11.2.202.228.
    The Adobe Flash website section detects I have v11.2.202.229 installed.  The latest version listed underneath was .228.  I questioned how I could have a newer, higher number, version if .228 is the latest release? This was odd, needed an answer and to verify I was current.
    In reading the Security Bulletin, it says… “These priority 2 updates address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.7 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. These vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system… … …Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 … … ...can install the update via the update mechanism within the product when prompted. Google Chrome will be updated automatically, so no user action is required. Google Chrome users can verify that they have updated to Google Chrome version 18.0.1025.151, which includes Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.229.”
    This answered my question.  I am current…and then I found an Adobe forum thread asking if 11.2.202.229 files installed in the correct place.  I am deducing from the bulletin that the v.229 is designed with content or files specific for Google Chrome. And I am also deducing I was prompted that a new update is available because Flash Auto Update is looking for any version other than or is “not v.228” and not looking for “both v.228 AND v.229 files” on one’s computer? Concluding that I should ignore this prompt, check “do not remind me about this update” now and in the future if using Chrome [but I would still always need to verify Flash has been updated on my computer or verify I have the latest version of Google Chrome, before ignoring]? And if I do choose not to continue using Google Chrome (uninstall), I should then resume with manual updates.  Please provide feedback.
    If true, my recommendation to Adobe would be to design the Flash Auto Update to search for *all* versions related to the latest release to avoid a false prompt from appearing and/or *also include within the text of the standard Auto-update prompt’s window the same verbiage as within the Security Bulletin (which is not normally read by users) regarding Google Chrome, directing that no user action is required. It may or may not be harmful for someone to proceed with installing v.228 when they already have v.229… meanting it may not delete or replace any important files specific to Google Chrome and protecting against security vulnerability as it might be that .229 may only have a few additional files. *Another recommendation would be that both the .228 and .229 v for Google Chrome be listed as the latest release on Adobe Flash website page and release content.  This may have been a timing issue.  Google/Adobe might want to re-consider the timing/order in which they deploy their versions or re-consider the auto-update feature within Google Chrome all in itself to avoid confusion, avoid the need to then verify it anyway afterwards (an added step in itself) and avoid Google Chrome users that are completely unaware of this and what action to take, from updating to a different incompatible version that could possibly conflict with the requirements of Google Chrome or its security.  However, everything would be resolved by the first recommendation.  I did wonder why I just got prompted today for a release on March 28th, but luckily it looks like I have the latest version.  And I did find it interesting how I noticed underneath the install for Adobe AIR that you may have to disable your anti-virus before installing.
    I look forward to your feedback to my question confirming whether or not I should just to ignore this update.  In effort to prevent PCs from future attacks, I provided my feedback and recommendations.  Thank you.

    Chrome was installed after 3/26.  I am guessing these are for Active X for IE and they don’t look like the latest version. As I mentioned, when I checked with Adobe to see what version is running on my system it only displays the latest version for Google Chrome which is a current one.  So one (a user) wouldn’t know of the other versions that need to be updated.  You are correct that I thought there was only one version on my system.  Thanks for informing me, I didn’t even search or think of that.  If I forcefully download the update anyway, will it update both of these directories? 
    Also when you say, “Manually downloading or updating Flash Player from Adobe will not affect Chrome's installation of Flash Player.” I realize moving forward it wouldn’t affect future Chrome installs but did you also mean downloading .228 when I have .229 will not affect this currently the installed version?..…if built-in, does Google Chrome store any files on my system or is it completely built-in?

  • LCM Migration No Longer Working

    LCM migrations(Hyperion v11.1.2) are getting "stuck" at the point where Migration Status Report shows "Status = In Progress" but they do not complete. This used to work but no longer works. No known changes to the environment or setup
    1) Have tried running using various logins, but same result. Occurs regardless of migration attempted (Shared Services, Essbase, Planning artifacts, etc)
    2) No files are sent to the "\IMPORT\EXPORT\" directory on the Foundation server
    3) There are xml files created in the MSR (Migration Status Report" directory. They point to a problem with the password for "Credentials user="CSSTOKEN" (shown below)
    Any suggestions on what may be occurring and how to get LCM working?

    Could it be that the username that you are using for the migration doesn't have all of the rights it needs for the app you are trying to migrate?
    IOW, have you tried it with just plain admin instead of test_admin?

  • Reader v11 Update fails on Windows Vista (entire network) with error 1310

    Tried to run the Reader v11 updater after installing v11.  It fails comsistently with error 1310, although the file in the error message is different each time.  The file is usually, but not always, in the folder config.msi.
    We had this problem in the Reader v10 updaters as well, however we traced it to a race condition in file handling.  We could get it to install by running other programs concurently or disabling anti-virus, to alter the timing of the install.  Usually it took 3 to 6 attempts for it to complete successfully.
    With the v11 updater, no amount of iterations will get it to install.  We've tried upwards of 20 times.  We've also tried re-installing v11 and then applying the update over a fresh copy.  That does not work either.  The usual tricks that worked with v10 also do not work with v11.
    This problem could be solved easily if the updater would prompt the user for a retry on error, instead of automatically rolling back.  For the main installer, the user is prompted to retry, but not for the updater.  We run plenty of installers in the school without problems, but the Reader updates are always difficult.
    We have wasted dozens of hours on this in our school.  We are supposed to keep the Reader patched to avoid the significant vulnerabilities it introduces, but we cannot get the updater to run.  If anyone else has solved this problem please let us know.

    Lorraine, I posted a question in the Adobe Reader forums about the
    problems we have with the updaters.  I got back this response, they
    are blaming it on other software and the Windows Installer.  I think
    that can't be true, we install all kinds of stuff without problems.
    So I think the truth is they've done a crappy job on their updaters.
    The latest update is for an extremely serious vulnerability, it's
    active in the  wild and has made the national news.  So if we can't
    install the update, then I think we have to move away from Adobe
    altogether, to another reader.
    Can you think of any reason not to do this?
