LDBS IN HR ABAP

Hi All,
why we are using LDB'S  in HR ABAP PRG..
and use of END-OF-SELECTION.
reply soon plz.........
regards,
vijay.

It is a matter of choice.. using LDB will give you the option of  in-built Authn Checks & a host Std Selection screens.. you can also easily buil;d a custom sele screen too.
the END-OF-SELECTION is similar to an ENDSELECT.. it closes the GET PERNR loop.. ie The Infotype records of each person are available between the GET PERNR & END-OF-SELECTION statements.

  • How to use LDB PNP with ABAP objects in a program

    Hello,
I am wondering if anybody has used the HR logical database(LDB) PNP with user defined ABAP objects in a program? I am using the FM- <b>LDB_PROCESS</b> but its not working. Also assigning PNP in the attributes section of the program -- so that I can use predefined fields from the LDB and then invoking the FM doesn't work -- throwing 'Logical database already active' error.
I suppose even with the ABAP objects and the new FM -- I should still be able to utilize the pre-defined fields of the PNP database -- and also the built in authorizations. I cannot use GET PERNR and REJECT as they give errors. I understand that the use of HR-macros (RP-PROVIDE-FROM-LAST and et al.) are not allowed as they use the table work area -- which is not allowed in ABAP-OOPS.
I would really appreciate if anyone could show me some insight regarding this. Thank you.
    Kshitij R. Devre

    Hi Kshitij
It would be really good if we could use both together. But as I know, it is not possible. "GET pernr." is an event-like loop statement and so cannot be used in OO context. And I guess, the same restriction holds for the "LDB_PROCESS" since it uses LDB-specific processing.
What I suggest you is to use standard and BAPI functions.
    Sorry for giving bad news...

  • How to Add a new fields in the selection screen of LDB.

    Hi All,
I want to add a new fields in the selection screen of LDB & then i need to select the data for that fields.
So could you please tell me for that where i need to add the code for selecting the data.
    Thanks
    Roli

    Hi
    welcome to SDN forum
If you are designing your own LDB with your own tables you can define tree structure and then the selection screen for the tables
if you wants to modify the std LDB of SAp means take the access key and to modify that code
if you add the extra field you have to modify the where conditions in the code also
    see the doc

  • Logical database names

    hi experts,
pls give me the main logical databases names used for taking reports using SAP query in sq02.
    ex hr- pnp,material ckm etc

    Hi
Check the tables related to LDB's
    LDBS
    LDBT
    T0220
    see the doc on LDB
A logical database is a special ABAP/4 program which combines the contents of certain database tables. You can link a logical database to an ABAP/4 report program as an attribute. The logical database then supplies the report program with a set of hierarchically structured table lines which can be taken from different database tables.
LDB offers an easy-to-use selection screens. You can modify the pre-generated selection screen to your needs. It offers check functions to check whether user input is complete, correct, and plausible. It offers reasonable data selections. It contains central authorization checks for data base accesses. Enhancements such as improved performance immediately apply to all report programs that use the logical database.
Less coding s required to retrieve data compared to normal internel tables.
Tables used LDB are in hierarchial structure.
Mainly we used LDBs in HR Abap Programming.
Where all tables are highly inter related so LDBs can optimize the performance there.

  • Data retrival error in Logical Database

    Hello Gurus,
I am working on a Report on ASSET ACTIVITY BY DATE RANGE .
The program is copied from std. program S_ALR_87011990.
The above std. program displays for the whole financial year. This is modified for a particalar period range in the new leveraged program.
My question is in the below code.
We are fetching data using LDB ADA. The statement "GET anlcv" works fine here, I mean Sy-subrc is 0 and anlcv structure has some data in it.
When it comes to statement "GET anepv" in the below code, we are not getting any data into that structure and sy-subrc NE 0. Then it is skipping all the get statements and directly going to statement " PERFORM abga_simulieren.".
My logic lies in between this Get statement and the perform statement. When i see it in debugging mode my statement is not executed at all.
What needs to be done. Please anyone help me.
    GET anlcv.
    CHECK select-options.
    MOVE anlcv TO sav_anlcv.
    GET anepv.
    CHECK select-options.
Nur Bewegungen des Jahres des Berichtsdatums durchlassen.
    CHECK anepv-bzdat GE sav_gjbeg.
    CHECK anepv-bzdat IN so_bzdat. "Added for SIR-3132
    Bewegungen in SAV_ANEPV sammeln.
    MOVE anepv TO sav_anepv.
    APPEND sav_anepv.
    GET anlb LATE.

    fehlender Abgänge/Umbuchungen
    IF NOT summb IS INITIAL.
    IF NOT anlav-ktansw IN so_ktanw.
    REJECT 'ANLAV'.
    ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
    ANLCV aus Save-Area zurueckholen.
    CHECK NOT sav_anlcv-anln1 IS INITIAL.
    MOVE sav_anlcv TO anlcv.

  • Usage of GET - Basic LOGICAL database question

    Hi,
I have a few doubts in Logical Databases.
1.) Why should i include a logical database in a abap program.
2.) Can i add more than 1 LDB to a abap program
3.) can Nodes statement used on all nodes on LDB
4.) Please provide a example program based on F1S LDB with small explanation.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bala.

AFAIK, it is expected that we should we the TABLES statement if the node type is a TABLE and if the node type is DDIC type then it is expected that we should use NODES statement, however I found that they can be used interchangeably.
We can find the node type info in the structure defintion of the LDB(in SE36)
Also check this extract from the SAP help
The nodes of the structure are declared with the TABLES statement which generates
the appropriate table work areas. You can also use the NODES statement to define
database tables as nodes. If a node of a logical database is not a database table,
you must use the NODES statement.

  • HR related Query

    Dear All,
Why do we use LDB in HR module?
What is the difference between the infotypes and tables ?
Do we use LDB in other modules?
    Thanks,
    Santhiya.B

    Hi
Infotypes are nothing but information objects which are used in SAP HR Module
They also contain data and we can use Select Statements to fetch the data from these infotypes
HR deals with the INFOTYPES which are similar to Tables in General ABAP.
There are different ways of fetching data from these infotypes.
There are different areas in HR LIKE Personal Admn, Orgn Management, Benefits, Time amangement, Event Management, Payroll etc
Infotypes for these areas are different from one another area.
storing of records data in each type of area is different
LDBS like PNP are used in HR programing.
Instead of Select.. we use some ROUTINES and PROVIDE..ENDPROVIDE.. etc
and in the case of Pay roll we use Clusters and we Import and Export them for data fetching.
On the whole Normal ABAP is different from HR abap.
For Personal Admn the Infotypes start with PA0000 to PA1999
Time Related Infotypes start with PA2000 to PA2999.
Orgn related Infotypes start with HRP1000 to HRP1999.
All custom developed infotypes stsrat with PA9000 onwards.
In payroll processing we use Clusters like PCL1,2,3 and 4.
Instead of Select query we use PROVIDE and ENDPROVIDE..
You have to assign a Logical Database in the attributes PNP.
LDB is a general concept which is used in other module also
It is another way of fetching data from database tables using GET and GET LATE commands
    see the doc
