Ldmp2v  and ZFS  root source system question

hi
reading the ldmp2v doc, it seems to implay that p2v only support source system with UFS root
this is fine for s8 and s9 system.
what about the new s10 with zfs root?

  • A question about item "type and release" of  source system creation

    Hello expert,
I have a question about item "type and release" of  source system creation.
As we know, when we create a web servie source system, there will display a pop-up which includes three items as "logical system","source system"and "type and release".
About the item "type and release",when we push "F4" button, there will be three default selections as below:
    "ORA 115     Oracle Applications 11i
    TLF 205     Tealeaf 2.05B
    XPD 020     SAP xPD".
Who can tell me when and how should I use the three selections.
And also I attempted to input the item by some optional letters except the default three selections and it seems that I can input it freely.
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

    Hello DMK,
Thank you very much for your answer. It is very helpful for me.
Can I ask you further about it?
I got that it is a semantic description item.
You said the default selections are set by our basis people.Would you like to tell me how should we creat a new value except the default ones for item "type and release"?Only by inputing the value in the item directly? But you see we canot see the new value item we created by ourself when we push "F4" button next time ,is that ok?Or do we have to ask basis people to define one new value item just like the default seletions before we use it.
Also if possible would you like to describe detail about "This becomes important when you are troubleshooting certain issues especially when RFC connection problems."
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

  • Convert ZFS root file system to UFS with data.

Hi, I would need to covert my ZFS root file systems to UFS and boot from the other disk as a slice (/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0)
I am ok to split the hard disk from root pool mirror. any ideas on how this can be acheived?
    Please sugget. Thanks,

from the same document that was quoted above in the Limitations section:
    Limitations
Version 2.0 of the Oracle VM Server for SPARC P2V Tool has the following limitations:
Only UFS file systems are supported.
Only plain disks (/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0), Solaris Volume Manager metadevices (/dev/md/dsk/dNNN), and VxVM encapsulated boot disks are supported on the source system.
During the P2V process, each guest domain can have only a single virtual switch and virtual disk server. You can add more virtual switches and virtual disk servers to the domain after the P2V conversion.
Support for VxVM volumes is limited to the following volumes on an encapsulated boot disk: rootvol, swapvol, usr, var, opt, and home. The original slices for these volumes must still be present on the boot disk. The P2V tool supports Veritas Volume Manager 5.x on the Solaris 10 OS. However, you can also use the P2V tool to convert Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 operating systems that use VxVM.
You cannot convert Solaris 10 systems that are configured with zones.

  • Unbootable Solaris 10 x86 installed on ZFS root file system

    Hi all,
I have unbootable Solaris 10 x86 installed on ZFS root file system. on an IDE HDD
The bios keep showing the msg
DISK BOOT FAILURE , PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM BOOT DISK
    please note :
1- the HDD is connected properly and recognized by the system
2- GRUB don't show any messages
is there any guide to recover the system , or detail procedure to boot system again
    Thanks,,,

It's not clear if this is a recently installed system that is refusing to boot OR if the system was working fine and crashed.
If it's the former, I would suggest you check the BIOS settings to make sure it's booting from the right hard disk. In any case, the Solaris 10 installation should have writting the GRUB stage1 and stage2 blocks to the beginning of the disk.
If the system crashed and is refusing to boot, you can try to boot from a Solaris 10 installation DVD. Choose the single user shell option and see if it can find your system. You should be able to use format/devfsadm/etc to do the actual troubleshooting. If your disk is still responding, try a `zpool import` to see if there is any data that ZFS can recognize (it usually has many backup uberblocks and disk labels scattered around the disk).

  • Sol10 u8 installed on a ZFS Root File System have different swap needs?

Does Sol10 u8 installed on a ZFS Root File System have different swap needs/processes?
    Information:
I've installed Solaris 10 (10/09 s10s_u8wos_08a SPARC, Assembled 16 September 2009) on a half dozen servers and every one of them no longer mount swap at boot.
The install program commented out the old swap entry and created this one:
    # grep swap /etc/vfstab
    swap - /tmp tmpfs - yes -
Everything works like a champ. I didn't discover the issue until I tried to install some patches and the install failed. It didn't fail because of lack of swap - it refused to run because it found "No swap devices configured".
    Here are the symptoms:
    # swap -s
    total: 183216k bytes allocated + 23832k reserved = 207048k used, 13600032k available
    # swap -l
    No swap devices configured
    # mount | grep swap
    /etc/svc/volatile on swap read/write/setuid/devices/xattr/dev=5ac0001 on Mon Apr 19 08:06:45 2010
    /tmp on swap read/write/setuid/devices/xattr/dev=5ac0002 on Mon Apr 19 08:07:40 2010
    /var/run on swap read/write/setuid/devices/xattr/dev=5ac0003 on Mon Apr 19 08:07:40 2010

    Hi Nitabills,
I assume that you create a zfs entry for swap with the commande zfs create -V $size
did you launch the command :
    swap -a /dev/zvol/dsdk/$ZPOOL/swap
Try this entry below in the vfstab :
    /dev/zvol/dsdk/$ZPOOL/swap - - swap - no -

  • BW and RFC problem  -- Source system not created.

    Hi Friends,
Before posting this post , i have searched so many posts and docs and but still got a problem in creation of R3 source sytem in BI7.0.
Steps i followed in R3 are as follws:
    1) created  alogical system for R3 and BI7.0
2)assigned this logical system to clients 001 and 800
    001--Bi
    800--r3
3)created user BWALEREMOTE in  su01  with profile sap_all
Steps in BI7.0 are as follows:
    1) Created  logical systems  for Bi and r3
    2) assigned this logical systems to same clients
    3) created  user BWAleremote in su01  with profile SAp_ALL
    with respect to RFC's
    In R/3
SM59--created a RFC name  same as logical system names
for R3 RFC destination-- user is BWaleremote, client is 800
for BI RFC destination -- user is Bwaleremote , client is 001
when i checked the connections , i can sucessfully test the connections , But remote logins are having problems.
r3 to BW is possible, but it is prompting the  password for BI again
BW  to R3 is not possible.
To my knowledge and search in forums,RFC connections are succesful, then it should not prompt for any passwords..so iam  wrong
I also went into RSA!-- global settings-- i gave user as BWaleremote..
    Plz help me in this
    PAVAN

    Hi Pavan,
The RFC configuration is probably wrong. Check the username/pswd that you are using to connect to the other system. Try logging normally through the sap logon pad using that username/pswd that you have mentioned in the logon tab in RFC connection entry. See if you are able to logon. In the remote logon, it should not ask for any password.
If this succeeds, then create the source system in RSA1 in the BI box.

  • Backup and restore Root File system

    Hi
Can I take backup of Root File system using ufsdump and later restore it (Root file system) completely using ufsrestore?
Please give me the steps or a link
    Thanks in advance
    Ashraf.

In short yes. But the steps depends on where you are going to store the backup and if you are running Sparc or x86 and what you do with your disk in between.
    Boot in single user.
    example# ufsdump 0cfu /dev/rmt/0 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s0
/dev/rmt/0 (tape) can be another partions file /backup/root_backup
For restore it must be safeest to boot from CD.
Mount your disk to restore to under /a
    cd /a
ufsrestore rf /dev/rmt/0 (or your file /backup/root_backup)
If the partition is reformatted you may have to install new bootblocks.
    Please read some from docs.sun.com
This is just an advice, not detailed workorder.....

  • Error when generating program /SAPAPO/TSM141 and Errors in source system

    Hello APO Experts!
I had to include a new key figure in the cube and the planning area with configuration semantic = 000.
The problem is, in my DEV system, the modification was perfect. Then when I did in the QA system, I´ve got the error "Error when generating program /SAPAPO/TSM141" and u201CErrors in source systemu201D when trying to load data in the Infopackage.
Do you have any idea of what this could be?
    Best Regards
    Nik

    Hello,
The problem may come from the inconsistency between the datasource settings and the content in table /SAPAPO/TSAREATE.
    - SE16, go to table /SAPAPO/TSAREATE, input the planning area name, check the extraction structure, which is started from  '/1APO/EXT_STRU'.
    - SE16, go to table /SAPAPO/TSAREAEX, input the datasource name, and check the extraction structure.
Are the two extraction structures the same or different ?
If they're different, please read the below solutions, otherwise, you can ignore the following.
In general and most customer cases this inconsistency happens during transporting of datasource alone. In many cases the planning area is directly created at target system and datasoucre transported from a a different system which causes incorrect export structure entry in planning area table.
Please refer to following content from note 549184:
Q4: Why could I have extraction problem after transport of DataSource?
A4: DataSources for DP/SNP planning areas depend directly on the  structure of the planning areas. That's why the planning area MUST  ALWAYS be transported with or before the DataSource.
The simple solution will be to create a dummy data source for this planning area. This will regenerate the extract structure for all other data sources as well and update the corresponding tables. After that you can delete the dummy datasource.
After delete the dummy datasource, in case of inconsistency, please also run the report /SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_GEN report for
    - Basis - form routines
    - Create planning objects
    - Planning area extractor
with the flags "Reset generation time stamp" and "Generate" set.
And in order to transfer datasource correctly, please also refer to the consulting note 514524.
    Best Regards,
    Ada

  • How to delete old source system assignment and assign new source system.

    Hi Experts,
I have bunch of datasource which are pointing to source system A (when I see it in RSA1). Recently all the datasources which are in source system A has been moved to source system B.
Now I have replicated all the datasources from the source system B. But in RSA1, still I am seeing the datasources which are pointing to sourcesytem A. I want this to be pointed to source system B.
Is there a way to do this?.  I have searched in forum and found that this ned to be done manually. Do i need to do it for all the datflows? Is there any thing we can do when running BDLS?.
Please let me know if you need more inputs.
Thanks a lot for you suggessions. Eagerly waiting for valuable suggessions.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Saravanan Payani.

    Hi Anindya,
Thanks for your quick reply. I want to keep the data what ever there in the cube as of now. From now on I want to extract data from new source system.
Basis team ran the BDLS but i don't see any changes. Still my datasources are pointing to OLD source system.
Background : I have an infocube for which the datasourec is ZCRM_MKT_001, which is available at  source system IRDCLNT001. Now the above datasource has been moved to new source system IRXCLNT001. As my datasource is moved to new source system, I want the data from the new source system.
My issue : But when i expand the data flow of the infocube in RSA1to the lowest node, against the datasource i can still see the source system as IRDCLNT001 (which is old) under 'Object Information' column. I want this to be pointed to my new source system that is IRXCLNT001.
Is there any way to arrive at this?.
Thanks for your time on this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Saravanan Payani.

  • Prepare the Source System question (for Cloning)

    Hi,
Could anybody tell me if during the phase:
    # Prepare the Source System
Execute the following commands to prepare the source system for cloning.
    1. Prepare the source system database tier for cloning
Log on to the source system as the ORACLE user and run the following commands:
    cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>
    perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
the middle tier must be DOWN or is not important ? Do we need to be in maintenance mode too ?
    Thanks,
    Paul

ok, but if I add some space to a file in a tablespace
is not need to run pre-clone, right ? The same thing
if I copied the files in a place (for cloning) before
modifying the physical structure of the DB ... I can
use these files right (all the files was copied) ?- Changing the datafile/tablespace size after running preclone --> In this case you still need to run preclone again before copying files to the target node.
    - Copying files before chaning the physical structure (after running preclone) --> In this case you do not have to run preclone again.

  • Question Related to Source System of BI7 Technical Content

    Hi Experts,
I activated BI7 Technical contents using SPRO Transaction.
    Activation is successfull.
My question is that I could now find two source systems for
each activated Datasource of Technical Content(One BI self source system and another R3 source system). Is that right?
I thought that BI statistics wil be based on only BI as a
    source system.
    Please help me in this.
    Thanks,
    Senoy
Edited by: senoy laxman on Aug 19, 2008 3:29 PM

This is because, before actiavtion of technical content, those TWO source systems were already assigned (Check Boxes 'ON')...under
RSA1 --> Business Content --> 'EDIT" menu --> Source System Assignment --> see those check boxes 'ON' for BI self source system and R3 source system.
U r right..BI statistics wil be based on only BI as a source system.

  • Question to Maintaining Source System IDs

We go to RSA1, and choose Assignment source system to source system ID in toolbar, system display source system ID field and Source system ID text field. So the question to this activity is that is this Source system ID flexible, not fixed.
    1) E.g.in our case BW source system call THTCLNT100, so could we just use TH100 as source system.
    2) Once we create one source system in BW system under Source system Tab, should we also follow this steps, namely Maintaining Source System IDs for this new created source system?
    Thanks for the answer.
Edited by: hi ni on Apr 14, 2008 5:39 PM

    Hi,
as far as I know, the id can only be a character of length 2 so in your case just TH or T1 or something else. It's normally up to you. Once maintained it cannot be changed anymore.

  • Data load problem - BW and Source System on the same AS

    Hi experts,
I’m starting with BW (7.0) in a sandbox environment where BW and the source system are installed on the same server (same AS). The source system is the SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) 5.0.
BW is working on client 001 while SRM is on client 100 and I want to load data from the SRM into BW.
I’ve configured the RFC connections and the BWREMOTE users with their corresponding profiles in both clients, added a SAP source system (named SRMCLNT100), installed SRM Business Content, replicated the data sources from this source system and everything worked fine.
Now I want to load data from SRM (client 100) into BW (client 001) using standard data sources and extractors. To do this, I’ve created an  InfoPackage in one standard metadata data source (with data, checked through RSA3 on client 100 – source system). I’ve started the data load process, but the monitor says that “no Idocs arrived from the source system” and keeps the status yellow forever.

I didn't see any reason why it's not bringing. Are you doing full extraction or Delta. If delta extraction please check the extractor is delta enabled or not. Some times this may cause problems.
Also check this weblog on data Load errors basic checks. it may help
