LE can't import uncompressed audio?

Is this true? You can only import compressed (mp3s) into Logic Express? I've tried to import a wav. and it comes out really slow and lower pitched.
If so, I don't understand why, I don't want to mix my album in LE if I have to compress everything to mp3 first.

Not true at all - where did you get that bit of info ? Logic has always been, at base, a 16bits at 44.1Khz .aiff file type of application. Long before .mp3 files became a fad. You need not work with .mp3s at all, I wouldnt and dont. Notwithstanding dithering issues where files are coming in at higher bit depths than the base standard Ive just mentioned above (such as 24 bit encoded files) - working in .aiff 16 bit/44.1khz has been the gold standard for years, and Logic is well designed for this type of file... If you are using Logic for the PC - cant tell you about .wav files unfortunately, this is a Mac forum.
I just tested my LE7:
1. select audio instrument track - then go to Audio menu
2. import audio file
3. navigate to a .wav file (have a bunch of these in the "EXS Factory Samples" folder
4. file plays back correctly
One way to test any media file on Macs is to drag the file into QuickTime Player (which all Macs have). If it dont play right there it will likely never play well in any commercial app. Perhaps your offending .wav file also plays incorrectly with QTP ?

From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.

  • Can't import uncompressed AVI files in CS6 Premiere Pro

    Hi!
I'm using Adobe CS6 Premiere Pro on Windows 7 Pro (64bit) but can't import uncompressed AVI files.
I get the error that the file has no valid fomat or is damaged, but I can watch the avi videos without a
    problem with the media player.
I also have CS4 installed, with CS4 I can import this files.
What can I do to solve this?

AVI is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Can I import .cda audio file in iTunes on my Macbook Pro with OS X Yosemite

    iNads,
.CDA files are simple index files, less than 1 kB in size, that do not contain any audio.  There is no reason to import them.
If you have the physical CD and wish to rip it into iTunes, you can import it per this guide:  iTunes 12 for Mac: Import songs from CDs

  • Can't import any audio file types into my project files in AECS5

I'm trying to add sound effects to a titles animation for the first time. When I tried to import a .wav file i got this error:
after effects error. Can't import file (filename.wav)  unsupported filetype or extension
So I converted the file to .mp3. Still didn't work. I converted the file to .aiff, wma and none worked.
Whats the problem? Better to just animate in AE and input sound effects in Premiere?
    please help!

However, you did NOT answer Todd's very crucial question:
Are you running AE 10 without having done the free update to AE 10.0.1, which corrects a wealth of AE weirdness?  Hmmmmmm?
That's the first thing to tend to if you haven't done it yet.
You have other issues going on as well.
Issue #1 is that you only have 4GB RAM, and for AE 10, that's absolutely NOTHING.  You need to get more memory, you need to get it right away, and you have to turn off multiprocessing and leave it off until you get more memory.  Think about bringing your machine up to 12 GB minimum to use multiprocessing.  You should tend to that next.
Issue #2 -- you have your media files on the same drive as your OS and applications.  This is very bad indeed.  You need to get an additional hard drive for your project files and media files.  A 1 TB internal hard drive costs what.... about $100 US?  That's the third thing to do.
Once you do all that, you ought to stand a fighting chance at getting your audio work done in AE.  And you should use either AIFF or WAV files.  Do NOT use any kind of compressed audio.  AE has NEVER worked well with compressed audio.
Can't afford to do all that hardware upgrading?  Got a video editing application?  Import your AE animation -- VIDEO ONLY, no audio -- and any audio files you need, including sound effects.  Do the work in the video editor.  Not only will it be faster, but easier.

  • Can't import uncompressed quicktime file into FCE 3.5.1

I've imported other files of this type before and feel a little stymied.
It's an uncompressed quicktime, 507 megabytes, 720 x 486, codecs are Integer (Big Endian), Animation. When I try to import it I keep getting an error message. I've gotten the message before but could figure out the problem - for example, one movie had AAC audio and FCE wouldn't take it. Don't know what the problem is here and it's driving me nuts.
I tried converting it using quicktime pro (with the DV/DVCPRO NTSC) but FCE still ends up reconverting the file again and the resulting file looks fairly crappy as a result.
Anybody know why the file won't import? Or can someone suggest what codec to use with Quicktime Pro to convert the file so FCE what re-compress it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
FCE is a fixed format application. It can handles natively (without rendering)standard def DV, HDV and AVCHD.
The timeline(sequence) format can just be either standard or hight definition one. Not quicktime animation. So the non native material has to be rendered before playing the timeline. The rendered material will have the same resolution (or format) than your timeline, thus the poor quality as you display DV material (an interlaced format designed to be monitored on TV sets).(Quicktime animation format is an uncompressed format).
Converting your non-native material with QT Pro and importing into FCE is the way to go as this process allows editing in native format.
Did you monitor your timeline content on a TV monitor?

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes.  How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

iTunes will only import music from your phone that was purchased from the iTunes store.  To transfer music from other sources you have to use 3rd party software, such as PhoneView.
