  • My menu Premiere Pro wont show up

Hi, I was seeing lynda.com adobe premiere cs4 tutorial, and in their videos there is a button called "premiere pro", but that wont show up in my adobe premiere cs4 version 4.00, can someone help me?

Glad that you have what is needed, and thanks for reporting.
Also, welcome to the forum, and good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you have not yet found the PrPro-Wiki, I highly recommend it. There are tutorials, a great FAQ section, and lots of neat stuff. I'd bookmark this one.

  • Sync Premiere Pro Preference Problem

So I've been trying to sync my preference of Adobe Premiere but always show me a notification that it can't be possible.
    What would be the reason?
    Thanks!

Sorry to hijack the thread, as I am in a similar boat. I am working on an ongoing project. I have cut a concert, then created a trailer all done in PP3. I brought in the song files from the concert(quicktime 960x720 raylight encoded) created clips that I wanted to use for the trailer and added some overlay titles. I need to export H.264 and used a custom setup that I have used many times already. When I go to export it gets 3 frames from the end and says "unknown error" I have been reading through the forum and many posts state there may be a corrupt clip. I went through and removed 1 clip at a time from the sequence and exported, every time it will stop. I disabled the text overlays with the same result. I disabled the audio track with the same result. I exported the movie to an uncompressed AVI and started a new project(DVCProHD 720P24) with that and the audio file created in Audition. Tried exporting to H.264 with the same failed results. As I said before I have used H.264 with no issues many times before.
Additional history with this is, earlier this week I encountered the problem of the Media encoder not showing up. I followed the instrucions for the fix and that is working correctly now. I also saw notices of people having issues with various versions of quicktime, specifically v7.4 and higher, I am running V7.6(472)quicktime pro. I was going to revert to 7.3 but on the uninstall it stated that I will loose the pro capabilities(can I just put the serial number back in?), so I did not revert. All other export functions work correctly.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 not stable on my system

    Mac OS 10.10.1
I am having problems with Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 that make it almost unusable on my system. All other software, including AE, Audition, Prelude, Photoshop etc. working well.
The symptoms, which are not specific to any one project - but seem to effect all equally - are:
    1) Intermittently, I loose the ability to play clips or the timeline. I can drag the playhead around, but nothing plays, nor does the viewer or program monitor change or update. I can't use the space bar for play, nor can I click the play button with the mouse.  Either action requires a re-start.
    2) Exiting the application, Premiere Pro will not completely shut down. It goes into some kind of limbo state. The only way to shut the application down is to use the Force Quit command from the Apple Menu. Once the application has been Forced to Quit, it will not restart until the computer has been restarted. It will just bounce up and down in the dock and never launch completely.  The only way to launch it again is to completely restart the computer. If the application has been force quit, when I shut the computer down, I get the spinning wheel for a very long time during the shut down process, but the computer does completely shut down on its own. After I restart, Premiere Pro starts up promptly.
What I have done so far:
    Verified Disk Permissions
Run Disk Warrior on all disks.
    Trashed Premiere Pro preferences
Uninstalled the Premiere Pro app, and then re-installed a fresh download.
    My computer specs:
And I am connected to 2 Thunderbolt Pegasus Raids for the media.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Yes, it is.
Does this happen with brand new projects, as well?
    Yes.
Have you checked the permissions of all your Adobe folders? Are they set to Read Write?
They were all set to read/write, I did the procedure as outlined in the link.
Have you checked the permissions of your Mac HD and your media drives?
    Yes.
If you create a new user with Admin privileges, does that work better?
I have not tried this yet.
If you disconnect your media drives do you see any improvement in stability?
    No.
This problem does not, to me, seem to coincide with the either the OS upgrade or Software upgrade. It has begun to appear over the last week or so, and is occurring more and more often.
Any help you can give appreciated.

  • New (8/14) Macbook Pro Retina - Premiere Pro CC 2014 spinning beach ball

Help! Seems my shiny new wiz-bang 4-core Macbook Pro with 16 GB of Ram and a 512 solid state drive works just fine with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 until my project reaches a certain size, then it won't open the project and immediately gives me the deadly spinning beach ball. The only way to exit is to force quit whereupon I get the "Sorry, a serious error has occurred...". Aggravating beyond words.
Saw one forum comment where it was recommended to update to the 6.0 CUDA driver, but not even sure I have a CUDA driver. Plenty of space left on hard drive. In Premiere Pro preferences under the "Memory Tab" it doesn't seem to matter if it's set to "Optimize rendering for.... Memory or Performance." I've reinstalled the Premiere Pro App twice. Doesn't help.
    Some specs:
Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  Intel Iris Pro
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M GPU PCie
    Intel Iris Pro GPU Built-in
    8 GB DDR# 1600 MHz (x2) = 16 GB RAM
350 GB of 499 GB left on drive
Of the 16 GB of RAM I have 11 available for Premiere Pro and the other 5 GB allocated for other apps.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I enable a track to record in Premiere Pro CS4?

I'm on a macbook. I have a SM57 mic plugged in via an XLR to USB cable. I have tested this mic via garage band, and it works and records fine.
In Premiere Pro preferences I have chosen C-media USB Audio Device.
In mac's Audio MIDI setup, I have chosen C-media USB Audio Device as Default Input.
In Premiere Pro, I have clicked on Audio 1 to highlight that's the track I want to record to.
Yet when I click on the Mic picture in the Audio Mixer to enable track for recording, it does nothing, no drop down box, no indication that I clicked it (other than highlighting itself in yellow for a brief moment).
Then I click the record button, it starts flashing, waiting for me to click play.
Then I click play and a message comes up "You cannont record without enabling at least one track for recording"
    Where am I going wrong?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    ASIO4All - that's for Windows only, right? I'm on a mac.
I've been looking into using Soundbooth, which does recognise my USB connection.
Any tips for workflow between Premiere Pro and Soundbooth?
At the moment it looks like I'll have to edit my video footage first (it has no audio track),
then having watched the rough cut, record my voiceover in Soundbooth, adjust  levels etc.
then import those voiceover files into Premiere Pro and edit them in timeline to match my video.
    Not exactly ideal.
Is there any way of watching  the rough cut while recording the voiceover?
Or am I better off recording the voiceover in Premiere Pro with my rubbish Line in connection, then taking it into Soundbooth to boost/clean up?
    Thanks

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crashing on app startup, solutions exhausted??

I've seen similar fixes offered for this but I've tried all to no avail.
PPro CC 2014 version crashes on startup, right after the splash screen.  Doesn't get to the actual application, just instantly whites out with "Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.0 has stopped working".   Here's the problem details log from Windows:

I've taken the advice of others and uninstalled PPro CC 2014, restarted, updated my Nvidia drives, restarted, reinstalled PPro CC 2014, restarted, attempted to run application but same crash persists.  Others also said something about changing permissions to "something";  I tried changing permissions to the cache folder I use but not sure how relevant that is, nor what to EXACTLY change for permissions, IF that's the problem.
Any advice, experience with this problem, or discussion would be appreciated.  Thank you!
    UPDATE 7/27/14
Uninstalled ALL Creative Cloud components / applications completely,  used Adobe CC Cleaner Tool to clean out remnants of cloud.  Reinstalled only PPro and Media Encoder 2014 and same thing happens for PPro, crashes instantly on startup.  I did, however, get some interesting weird Encoder errors and failures during its installation via Creative Cloud desktop.  Here are some photos of the error log:
I feel that something is wrong from the very start, perhaps something within dynamiclink that crashes PPro / also gives install errors for Encoder.
Any help or thoughts are appriciated!!!

    UPDATE 7/28/14
The preferences suggestions is indeed where the problem was. In my case, there was a Premiere Pro preferences folder that was in conflict with an earlier PPro pref folder under the Windows 7 Sync Center. I guess thats the Windows equivalent of Mac preferences issues, so be sure to check if you have any syncing conflicts, I suppose, lol. Hope this helps anybody with similar problems out there!

  • Premiere Pro CC crash on launch, crash opening project, update issues

    Hi,
    iMac 2011 quad i7 3.4 GHz, 20GB RAM, MacOS 10.9.2 and 10.7.5, Premiere CC 7.0.0 & 7.2.1
I've been having a crazy time with Premiere CC. I started an Africa documentary 2 weeks ago, which forced me to upgrade to CC (on MacOS 10.9.2). Other than some issues with the Creative Cloud installer app (which seems like a great idea but never seems to work as it should, especially with updates), I was happily working away for about 10 days.
During that time I had to install Premiere CS6 again to open another project -- and continued happily working.
Then I needed to export some markers... and discovered that the Creative Cloud app wasn't reporting any updates beyond 7.0.0, and I needed 7.2.1 to export markers. That's when my problems started.
I tried to update to 7.2.1 with the Creative Cloud app -- it wouldn't see the update.
I tried to download the 7.2 and 7.2.1 patches from Adobe's site directly -- neither of these would install, because they said I didn't have the right software (or something like that -- didn't write down the error).
Finally I used the Adobe Cleaner tool to uninstall and clean all Adobe apps off my system. Then I was able to use the CC app to download 7.0.0, and my patches to update to 7.2.1.
I tried to open my project... Premiere crashed as it opened the project (as it was loading the clips).
I uninstalled all 3rd party effects, checking to ensure nothing was in the MediaCore folder. I deleted all caches and previews. I checked the permissions of the Adobe preferences folder, and trashed the Premiere preferences. I rebuilt permissions.
Now, not only could I not open the project, but Premiere itself would not launch -- it would freeze to the point of forcing a reboot.
Cleaned Adobe apps again, went online with Adobe tech support for a full hour. The main thing they did was remove a CUDA extension, but after reinstalling, the problem persisted... at first it crashed while loading the project, and then crashed in the launch itself.
Luckily, I had a backup of MacOS 10.7.5, which I had been using before starting this documentary project. I went back to that backup, installed Premiere 7.2.1... and now Premiere launches properly but still crashes about halfway through loading my project.
I can load the project if the clips are offline (temporarily renaming the footage folder), so it seems that somewhere along this zany process, one or more clips got corrupted.
With 15,000 clips of different formats in this project, finding which clip(s) is corrupted is like finding a needle in a haystack. For now, I am importing my sequences into a new project, and just importing the clips I need to finish my edit at hand. Then I will likely have to build a new project from scratch -- a long process, since Premiere can't import nests of subfolders like After Effects and Final Cut Pro can, and that's how the footage from this project has been organized.
Arg! At this point I have a workaround (at least in MacOS 10.7.5), so I'm not really asking anything, but if anyone has light to shed I'm all ears.
P.S. I think when I installed CS6 after installing CC, it confused the CC app. I don't think that caused my Premiere issues, but I think it may have contributed to the issues installing updates, and the CC app getting confused.

    Hello GrayJones,
This does seem like some pretty unusual behaviour! And I can only imagine the frustration it must be causing (believe me, I've been there!)
I've seen a lot of crash issues that are related to computer's graphic cards. You may want to try updating your graphics card's driver before proceeding forward. Also, there are a very small number of graphics cards that just don't work well with Premiere. You can also check the settings of your Mercury Playback Engine GPU. This can impact the performance of your software, especially depending on your graphics card. I may have missed it above, but didn't see anything related to Graphics cards in what you tried.
If you update your graphics card's drivers, and then update your version of Premiere Pro, it may solve the crashing on launch issue that you were having. Moving forward with fully updated PP software would be my first course of action, if it's possible.
Although I see that you have tried it alreay, you might want to reset your preferences (hold Cmd and Shift on the Mac while opening the program until you hit the splash screen) and resetting your PP cache (Premiere Pro - Preferences - Media - Click on "Clean Media Cache Database"
Without seeing the errors that caused your updates to not install originally I can't really offer suggestions regarding that. It could be a system conflict somewhere on your computer, but there are dozens of possibilities of what could be causing, especially if you have other plugins, older versions of Adobe or other video softwares, that kind of thing...
    Moving forward from there:
How are you working? Are your images stored on an external hard drive or locally? How are you connecting the hard drive to your machine? Are you tossing all of the clips with different time code into one sequence and working from there, or editing on separate sequences?
As for your project: Do you have the ability to test it on a different machine? You can try doing a project manager (File-Project Manager) and putting your entire managed project onto a different machine to see the behaviour, that way you can figure out if the issues are related to the project itself, or to your install of Premiere Pro on your machine. IF the project works fine on another system, then clearly the issue is related to your software/hardware configuration, if you have the same issues with the project on every machine, then it might be something different. Can you test other projects on your current set-up? Is this the only project that is affected?
If you have one or several corrupted files I know it can be painstaking to try to locate where the damage is at, generally it's a process of elimination, make a sequence with files from one camera and see what happens, if it glitches, try another camera until you can see if it's a general issue to all of your cameras or specific to some. Narrow it down from there, if it's multiple cameras, then the error (again) is software/hardware or transfer related or occurs in your transfer/storage process, or may be related to your uninstalls/re-installs with CC and CS6 (although I don't think I've ever seen that!)
If it's only clips from one camera (you mention the Canon XF100 has problems) maybe something affected your camera. I once saw standing too close to a radar-dish corrupt 1/4 of the clips from a BBC videographer's camera. I have no explanation why... but it can happen, so if only one camera is affected you should consider the possibility.
I'll try to assist with this as much as I can! But remember that the forums are not here for Adobe personnel to provide support to clients, but as a community for Adobe-philes to share and help. A lot of Adobe staff who are posting on here are generally doing it because they've got a bit of free time and want to help out. You should consider contacting support again if you can't resolve the problem and getting them to connect you to a video specific team.
    Cheers!

  • Still image size when importing to Premiere Pro CS3

I was wondering if someone could help me.  I do a lot of Still Image Slide shows with music and all that jazz and I used to use Premiere 6.5.  When I would import the still images I could just lock the aspect ratio and it would automatically size the picture to fit the screen.  I recently upgraded to CS3 and when I try to import a photo it imports it at actual image size so if the pic to too big it just looks zoomed in.  I'm wonder if there is a setting in I can adjust so it autosizes the pic like it did in version 6.5?  It may sound lazy but I do these with a lot of picture and I don't have time to adjust the size of each photo in Photoshop prior to import.
I have figured out a temporary workaround where I import the files into 6.5 and then open the existing project in CS3 but my new computer runs Vista and it's not allowing me to install 6.5 on it.  I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

I copied this from the help.
    Scale assets automatically
1 Choose Edit > Preferences > General (Windows) or Premiere Pro > Preferences > General
2 Select Default Scale To Frame Size.(Mac OS).
    3 Click OK.

  • Premiere pro Crash with AOC USB Monitor

I just purchased an AOC 1659FWU USB Monitor. The monitor works fine with AfterFX but when I try to launch Premiere Pro CC It crashes almost instantly. I know that it has something to do with the GPU and how it decides which one to use. I have uninstalled the monitor to trouble shoot it and once I did the program launched fine. Wondering if there are any workarounds or updates for this issue.

  • Premiere Pro functioning slowly?

Hello.  My Premiere Pro has been running really slow lately.  I just cleared a lot of space on my computer hoping it would help speed things up.  I get the rainbow wheel on my mac almost every other time I try to do something, and it takes really long to save.  Any ideas on what could be causing this?  It is around a ~6 minute project, so nothing too big.  Could it be an excess of sequences or clips in the media browser?  Or the amount of color correction effects on the actual clips?  It's been pretty frustrating and very hard to make progress on this project.  Any tips on how to get things moving normally again?
    Thanks very much.

    Hi,
Please provide your system configuration details:
OS, RAM, Processor, Graphics Card, which version of Premiere Pro exactly, what type of file are you working with?
I don't think excess of sequences or clips in the Project Bin (if that is what you mean) would be a problem.
Have you tried resetting Premiere Pro preferences?
    Thanks,
    Rameez

  • Premiere Pro CS6 with external HDMI monitor

    Hello all
Is it possible to use an HDMI monitor as an external preview monitor when editing with Premiere Pro CS6?  If so, then how is it connected, and where can i find the correct tick box in

  • Gaussian filter in Premiere pro

I want to know the level of gaussian filter in Premiere pro. Normally, when I apply gaussian filter, I set 20, 50...and so on, but I would like to know the exact blur level used in vision research. For example, +1.00 D, +2.00 D or 6/5.3, 6/6. What the 20 means in Premiere? Is there anyone the exact value means?

Try dropping a Ramp effect on your clip, followed immediately by a Calculations effect. Swivel down Second Source in Calculations, and set Second Layer to Video 1 (or whatever layer your clip is on), bring the Second Layer Opacity up to 100%, and then play with the blending modes in the Calculations effect to achieve a look you like: I found Darken, Multiply and Hard Light to be most effective. You can adjust the Ramp effect's color and start/end points--the default black-to-white gradient is going to be most like an ND grad, but you can change the black color to something else in order to get a colored grad (ie. tobacco). When you tweak it to a look you like, select both effects and save as a preset to easily reapply the look.
