LE7: Cycle causes track volume change

Hi. I'm using Logic Express 7.2. I've got track automation turned off on all tracks, and Hyperdraw active only on my drum track. When I set a cycle range and turn my piano and bass tracks down by moving the track mixer sliders, these 2 tracks automatically reset to a higher level when the cycle begins again. If there's no cycle set, the levels stay put as the SPL moves past the same point. How can I stop this evil behavior?

Okay, I guess I've solved the problem. There was a control change event at the very beginning of the track. Apparently, Logic reads from the beginning even if you start way down the line. The prob went away when I deleted the event.

  • Trouble changing track volumes

I seem to have a lot of trouble changing the individual track volumes. Sometimes it will not let my mouse select the slide bar to change the volume. After a couple seconds fidgeting with it and clicking on it it usually will allow me to "grab" it and move it. This is quite annoying. Anyone else run into this?

The track volume slider should move normally, every time. Does it appear grayed out at first or active? You might want to just click on the main track bar, to make it active, and then try it. Maybe that's what's been causing it.

  • What is the cause of Master track volume resetting on it's own?

Ok, so you record a project. You create a Master track, adding volume automation to create a fade out at the end of the track. You adjust the volume the track plays at, using the Master track volume slider, until the playing track reaches the fade out region at the end of the Master Track. Correctly, the track fades. With cycling of the track, the track begins again, but the Master Track volume slider reverts to a lower volume, at which it remains throughout all subsequent cycles. This happens whether or not the master track is locked throughout. Why doesn't it stay at the volume you originally set?
The only time the volume should alter, surely, is when the automation curve tells it to reduce to zero, at the end of the track?
This thing is causing me a good deal of lost time.
    Ontradio.

    Nick,
I would recommend testing your counters in MAX using Test panels to help narrow the issue. Next I would then try and run one of the examples in LabVIEW that is doing the same counter operation you are performing in your application for example, simple event counting. Find out if you are still getting the same error. This will narrow in on where the error is occuring and why.

  • Volume changes to maximum on manual track change?

Using iPhone 5s, running iOS 8.1.1, default Music App.
Often when manually skipping to the next track, volume goes instantly to maximum. It is not happening %100 of the time, but it's often enough that I have had to turn down the maximum volume on the Music App settings down very low to avoid my ears getting blasted.
The only thing that has changed is I am playing ALAC files, ripped from original CDs on my desktop computer then sent to the syncing MBP via Home Sharing.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Figured it out...
If you have in and out markings on a sequence, you cant enter automation changes elsewhere.

  • Does "Export all tracks as audio files" output HyperDraw volume changes?

Does "Export all tracks as audio files" output HyperDraw volume changes?
    Thanks

I'm pretty sure it just collates all the Regions on each Track to give one file per Track. This would imply that automation would not be included.
To be certain, you could make up a quick Project with one Region & an automated fade, & see what happens; but I would bet you just get the audio, not the automation.

  • How do you change the track volume so that it moves with your project?

I understand you can change track volume for a given track (by hitting the down arrow and fade it up and down). BUT then if you move that track - the track volume stays where it is so your volumes then get all messed up - any solutions?

  • Why does my track volume on selected track suddenly spike?

Why does my track volume, on the SELECTED TRACK, suddenly spike to max as if I had volume automation set. It never did this before a few weeks ago. Very frustrating. It happens during playback and loop recording. It started around the same time I started using a new audio interface (steinberg UR22) but I don't think that is causing the issue because I wen't back and used my MBOX to be sure, and it did the same thing. I have never had any use for automation or a master volume track either. It doesn't matter if I have a guitar, bass or mic going direct or through a preamp. It seems to be internal to GB settings. The only change I've made to my macbook recently was I increased my RAM from 2 to 4gb.
It's like Garageband has a mind of it's own and it feels as though there isn't enough signal reach the track to it boosts it itself. What am I missing?
Please help I can't get anything done because it spike in the middle of a take and I have to start over.
    I'm using GB 11 version 6.0.5

  • Random volume changes!

    Hi,
The volume on certain tracks suddenly change without automation being present on the track... I've even caught the volume changing slightly and quickly while nothing is playing. (ie. track 13 for example would quickly be jumping from -6.1 to -2.4 while nothing is playing)
Has anyone esle seen this? It seems be to a bug that i've noticed since Logic 7.2 but its still happening with v8.
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks

Is it possible you've got a midi controller assigned to track volume and it's causing the issue?

  • How can I lock a track volume level to never move in Garageband?

    Hi there
I'm currently creating a backing track of a popular song and I have built up all the parts of the songs against a wav track which contains the original version of the song.
I want to be able to mix the volumes of the tracks Ive built to the main proper recording, but I need to be able to LOCK the actual wav song track at say the 1.7db mark. Is this possible?
As I cant do it now, I keep accidently adjusting the volume level of the actual wav song track, so then all my volume mixes on other tracks are rendered useless (As you cant UNDO a volume change back to how it was)
Even if I engage the padlock "lock" button on the actual wav song track I can still move the volume of that track up and down. So its not 100% locked in my opinion.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Do you mean:-
    Select the track
    Click Down Arrow
Make sure Track Volume is selected
Click on the dot that has been created at the start of the track (to check its number level)
Click on the line now showing at the very end of the song and make sure the NEW dot you've just created is at the same number level as the one at the start.
    As this seems to work.
If I dont put any dots on it, you can move it as you please still.

  • How to adjust indivudual track volumes temporally

This is probably an easy one, but I have no idea how to change the volume of individual tracks temporally. It's really easy in imovie, but as far as I can tell, you can only edit the master track temporally in garage band.
    Please tell me I'm wrong!
    Thanks
    Andrew

no volume change is permanent, use the track fader, you can always change it back again, but if you mean with a volume curve, search GB's help for "curve"
Thanks, but the help section doesn't say how to add a pan curve; it just says what it does.
{quote}You can change the volume of a track or project over time using a volume curve. You can add a volume curve to any track, including the master track.
    After you add a volume curve to a track, you add control points to the curve at the points in the timeline where you want the curve to move to a new value. The curve changes evenly between the previous and next value, raising or lowering the volume level between the two points.{quote}

  • Sudden volume change in a region

    Hello all--
I am doing a piece that's quite repetitive, using 2-measure regions that I have repeated as needed doing option-drag. On one track, one region, and one only, has a huge volume jump; I'm talking about 10-12 db! I can't find anything to account for it. Velocities are all the same, nothing done in the mixer (though the volume change is registering loud and clear on the fader). Is there something I'm missing? I could dip the fader using automation for this region, but that's a workaround, of course, and besides, since I'm a relative newbie, I'd like to learn something if there's a more "elegant" solution.
    Thanks in advance!
    later,
    John

    Hi again--
I fixed the problem with a gentle hint from over on Dave's Logic Pro Help board. I had done a real Stupid Newbie Trick: accidentally dragged one region on top of another identical one, therefore intensifying it! Duhhh... Well, it might be good to have a way of seeing that's happened, since it doesn't show up in any obvious way in the Piano Roll Editor or the Event List. But I'm not excusing myself. Live, admit stupidity, learn... Onward and upward!
    later,
    John
PS Ben, there are more Tenneys than you might think! In fact, there's another John Tenney (my full name) who's also a musician! (not a professional violinist like me, but still...)

  • Recordable Volume Change Control Number?

Does any one know the midi control number that Garageband 09 uses to record volume changes on a software instrument track?
I'm not talking about the standard Midi control number 7 for volume - this only controls the left-right fader in the track header and Garageband does not record volume changes to this fader.
There's a value from 1 to 127 that will record volume changes as a part of the track itself. Does anyone know what that number is? Or does anyone have the table for all the control numbers that Garageband uses, or can anyone provide a link to such a table of such control numbers?
    Thanks.

  • MIDI Volume changes

    I am utterly perplexed.
Using a Keystation 49e to enter MIDI data in software instruments GB 08 refuses to hold volume while recording. I will put the volume up to 0 but as soon as I play a note it skips down to a low low volume.
    I have no Ducking on
Volume on the controller is to the max
    I have no automation enabled
If I enable tracking on the volume than the volume will violently change up and down as I am recording. It is like something is trying to force the volume to be low.
    Anyone else seeing this?
    Kurt

I was having a very similar problem, with GarageBand not keeping the track volume level when playing with my MIDI keyboard. The volume level I set in GB would stay for five or ten seconds, and then revert to some lower level.
I discovered the problem was due to a slider on my MIDI keyboard being set to control the volume level. If you're having this problem, try adjusting the slider(s) on your MIDI keyboard to see if one of them changes the track volume. If so, you can either use your MIDI keyboard slider to set the desired volume level, or reassign that slider to control some other MIDI parameter rather than volume.

  • Euphonix MC MIX and Logic 9.0.x = no tracks volume values display

    Hi,
Did anybody noticed that, since introduction of Logic 9.0.1 update, the track volume values aren't showed in the MC MIX display anymore? Euphonix support says that they are aware of the problem and are working close to Apple to resolve the issue, but that a fix would demand a new update from Apple.
Does anyone have some info from Apple side? Any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
    see ya

Got this from the Avid Support group: Go to Library/application support/Euphonix/Usersets/MC2User/MC_USER_SET_Root/ and make a copy of the Logic Pro.xml file. Then paste it back into the same folder but rename it Logic Pro X.xml. That should then open your old button settings for your MC Control. This worked for me and one other, so I hope it will work for everyone. There may be some different commands that will have to be changed in the button settings for LPX but I haven 't had a chance to check all of that out yet. I'm just happy this worked, I didn't like the idea of inputting all of the button settings from the start!
