LEAP wireless clients work, then fail, Using WISM blades HELP

I am at a complete loss. Calls to Cisco, working with different vendors, nothing has worked to solve the problem. This is what we see, and we see this at every single one of our hospital sites.
All hospitals used to run just IOS code on their AP's. Some hospitals used the older 1200 series AP's, which have been upgraded from B only radios to A/B/G. Some hospitals were rolled out with newer 1240 series AP's. Every single hospital was just fine when using IOS code on the AP's. Users never disconnected or disassociated. They were fine. Clients run a mixture of the old Cisco 350 series cards, or Ubiquiti A/B/G cards.
Now, fast forward and we started installing WISM blades in all the 6509 distribution switches at each hospital. AP's were then upgraded to lightweight code and at first everything seemed great. Then the calls started.
All clients at all hospitals will just disassociate. It is completely random. Some machines can see it once, others 50 times a day, then tomorrow, totally different. I have witnessed the same thing with my laptop. We have 3 WLAN's in the hospitals. One that uses LEAP authentication, one that uses Certificates, and one that is our Patient WiFi. Both LEAP and Certs have the issue. I have never been kicked off of the Patient WiFi system. Not once.
LEAP clients use the same exact ACS servers they have always used. Nothing changed in the configs. Same goes for the clients using certificates.
I have upgraded code on the WISM blades 3 times now. Currently we are using the 5.187 code. I have tried forcing all AP's to use only B/G radios, tried using only A, doesn't matter. Same problem happens.
What is even worse, when this event happens, 50% of the time you have to actually reboot the workstation to get it to log back onto the wireless network. It fails the attempt and it just stops. This is not everyone at the same time either. There seems to be no event that I can find where all clients have the problem at the exact same time. I can have two devices side by side, same exact NIC, same software, everything. One will disassociate, the other is just fine.
I am out of ideas. Everyone I talk to at Cisco says never heard of this before. I just can't believe we are the only ones that have ever seen this problem.
I can take the same workstation that is breaking left and right on our wireless networks using the WISM blades, go to a site with AP's still in IOS mode, it will never disassociate and disconnect.
Has anyone heard of this, have any ideas of something I could try. Would you like to see any other information about this? I can post whatever you like to help. I am looking for any assistance on this.
I have been trying to do some searches on this forum, but for whatever reason it seems to be very slow so thought I might post my issue as I search around, maybe if it has already come up and there is a fix, someone could direct me right too it.
Thank you in advance.

I tried that in the beginning. Put all ap power and channel as hard set. It did not change anything. I am not sure if we have tried the 4.2.207 code. I know we went through several 4.x.x codes in testing. Cisco recommended the lastest one that we are on now.
What really gets me is how everything worked just fine until the WISM upgrade. No AP placement changed, no additional AP installs, we just installed the WISM blades, migrated code to lightweight and everything started flaking out.
What other NIC's do people use? Maybe the brand we use is not any good? I have been up and down with the vendor, tried different drivers, nothing seemed to change anything.
It looks to me like the WISM sends out some kind of response that the workstation NIC's do not understand, so they just sit there. On wireless sniffer traces, you can see where the request goes out to the workstation, but the workstation just never responds, hence the lockup so to speak. It will just sit there until a reboot of the PC.

Trying to use twitter's widget here with limited success. First attempts work fine but eventually js fails to load. If I then reload widget it resumes following for awhile before again failing. (Same results in Firefox, Safari, Opera.)

Don't know if I'm looking in the right place but firebug picks up an "illegal character type: 'profile',/n in line 290"
DW also alerts to the same source code line, "syntax error"
I don't see the <,/n> in the actual code, so don't know if this is the problem or not. This is usually the place where I recopy the code from twitter and repaste it into the page, which then works fine for awhile before failing to display.
Can't see any widget size reference beyond w, h which I replaced as 180, 200.

  • Cisco E2500 (Linksys) configured as Bridge works then fails

I've set up the E2500 at one end of the house with a wire connection from my router at the other end of the house.  It's plugged into a LAN port.  After a system reset and configuration of SSID, password, etc., I set it to Bridge mode.   It works for awhile and gets DHCP from the main router (192.168.1.254)  then 5-10 minutes later the device reverts to using 192.168.1.1 as both router IP and DNS IP and stops working.  At that point, I can no longer access setup info using 192.168.1.1 as a URL.
What is causing this?  IP conflict?
There's not much to configure once Bridge mode is selected so I can't figure what's failing.

  • Wireless network worked, then it didn't

I set up my two iMac's and one MacBook Pro (all C2D) on a Verizon DSL network using a Model 327W Verizon modem/router. It was plug-and-play. Everything worked perfectly -- wireless included -- the moment I plugged it in.
Now the only computer that works wirelessly is the one I set the modem/router up on. Is this a MAC address issue? My Airport is giving me the following message in the Network Status: "AirPort is connected to the network XXX. AirPort does not have an IP adress and cannot connect to the internet."
I added the AirPort addresses for each iMac into the router set up and gave them "permission" to gain access to the wireless network and that didn't work.
    Caveats:
Both of the other computers (the ones that no longer connect to the network wirelessly) connect to the modem and the internet when I plug the ethernet cable into them.
When I manually configure the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Router to match the settings of the computer that does wirelessly connect, I get a GREEN light from my AirPort along with the following message: "AirPort is connected to the network XXX. You are connected to the internet via AirPort."
No, I'm not. Even though it says that, I still can't access the internet -- which makes me think it may be a firewall issue.
Help! I've got all my office computers connected to the network with ethernet cables until I get this resolved!
    Thanks!

  • Wireless mouse working, exept for the tracker? help?

Ok I am on a macbook running OX 10.4.8 and I just got the new apple wireless mouse and keyboard. The keyboard works great but my mouse: every thing works on it except the tracker. I can use the scroll ball, right/left click, but I can not move the arrow on my screen with it?
Is there any way to fix this?

    Hi alex:
It may be that the mouse is defective. Since it is new, call Applecare and indicate you have a warranty issue.

  • How do you ADD a Wireless Client PC to your Airport wLan?

If no security is enabled on the airport extreme 802.11n
PCs and Macs can get online easily
As soon as I enable WPA or WPA2
my macs can get online using the password
my PCs want a network Key of a specific length and hex format
and my airport utility app offers a phenomenally long 'equivalent' network password which does not make any of my PCs happy...
There is also an option of adding a wireless Client (a menu item in the airport utility app) but it closes the page as soon as I click on the menu item - I have NO ACCESS to this feature... something of a bug in airport utility version 5.2.2
the option is supposed to be add a Client using a PIN or simply add the first client to connect... NEITHER of these features work - the airport util software simply refuses to load that config page!
    what gives?
    how can we solve this?

Here's a wonderful piece of info that could help all of us...
Many wLan cards on the PC side don't seem to like WPA2
so you can resolve that issue by selecting WPA in the Airport utility
If you are using WPA / WPA2 on the airport extreme
    then... go grab a PC
yes, I said a PC... ARE YOU LISTENING APPLE?
on the PC, you need to install the software that came with your Airport Extreme 802.11n... it looks the same as the SW on your trust Mac
but the thing is, it actually works when you want to ADD a new Wireless Client to your network.
now... when the PC has the software up and running and you can see your Airport extreme - ADD A WIRELESS CLIENT but don't use the PIN method - that method failed 5 out of 5 times I tried... Use the First Attempt method..
You will likely get an error but ignore it and go to the wLan connection app in your windows taskbar (bottom right side) you will want to VIEW Wireless Networks available to you.
If you see your airport, great, click the CONNECT button and the app will ask for your NETWORK KEY
Just enter your Wireless Password (the same one you used to configure your Airport Wireless Security on the WIRELESS page of the Airport Utility)
then click connect and voila... all 6 of my PCs were able to access via WPA
I am stunned that I wasted so much time with this
and concerned that Apple's software acts differently on the PC allowing me to ADD users whereas the Mac application simply would not load the page
in case you are wondering I used the following versions for this time wasting exercise
    Mac: Airport Utility v5.2.2
PC: Apple Airport Utility for Windows v5.0
gosh what fun this has been
on the Mac ADDING a wireless Client failed (see my post earlier)

  • VMware Wireless Clients

All wireless VMware clients are receiving the standard IP address for their physical wireless adapter, but they have to assign a static IP address to their virtual VM adapter in order for both operating systems to function properly. The wireless infrastructure is Cisco 4404's at version 6.0.196.0.
The VMware virtual adapter receives a DHCP assigned IP address and another DHCP assigned IP address for the physical wireless adapter when the client works from home using a Linksys Wireless Router.

    Hi John,
The new CUWN release do not support Linksys and OEM bridges. The WLC support only Cisco AP in bridge mode (WGB).
So, if you want to use WET200 as a bridge you have two options.
    1. Change your AP 1142 from local to HREAP mode.
    2. Use passive clients mode on dedicated WLAN but it's works when the host  is behind a bridge and have IP address from DHCP server.
All traffic from host are go through WLC when gets IP from DHCP server and the controller know about ARP's.
If the host has a static IP address then it doesn't works.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/wireless/controller/7.0/configuration/guide/c70wlan.html#wp1391015
Upgrade your controller because in new software are added new features and many cases are resolved.

  • Wireless contection working but connection on main computer not working

I was using my main computer last night and walked away from it for about 15 minutes.  When I came back it said there wasn't a connection to the internet and couldn't find one.  I restarted the router and computer but it did not help.  The connection does however work on my internet.  Any suggestions?

    mrsjolivas wrote:
Right now I can't download anything from the internet since my connection isn't working.
You said wireless is working, right? Use that, if it is on a different computer download it there, put it on a flash drive, install on the one that won't communicate. But first...
    Lets go back to basics.
On the "main" (wired?) computer, can you communicate from the PC to the router? Open your browser, type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit enter.
Do you see the router login screen? If so, you are talking to the router, and the problem is inside the router or beyond it (which is unlikely since you said the wireless works).
No? Then you aren't even talking to the router, try a Network Connection repair on the PC and see if that fixes it. And check to make sure the ethernet cable between your computer and the router is still correctly plugged in, and try moving it to a different port on the router.
Hope this helps. If not, please tell us more about your entire configuration (PCs, other things like TV STBs, brand of router, any customization you may have done on the router, etc). It is hard for anyone to help in an information vacuum.

  • Wireless not working after reboot

I am new to Arch. I recently installed it on my system and everything was working find until I rebooted. My wireless driver just seemed to have stopped working, yet it can detect the networks in my area. I just can not connect to them.
When I use an external wireless card I can connect just fine though.

Welcome to the Arch forums max00355!
So you are having wireless issues.  Typically when you find you have a problem with a particular piece of hardware, it is probably good to take a look at what kind of hardware you have and provide that information.  In this case, it sounds like it is your internal wireless card, so presumably a pci device.  So you should use the command below to find information about what kind of card you have.
    $ lspci -vnn
Ideally, it would be good if you didn't post the whole output, as there is a lot of irrelevant info there. So just paste the part that relates to your wireless card.
Then, it also would probably help if you provided some detailed information about the network to which you are trying to connect.  We don't need your ESSID or passkey or anything.  But it is probably important to at least give an indication of what type of security is at play here (ie. wep, wpa2, etc.).
Also, when you have wireless issues, it is often very good to go back to the most basic of tools to see if you can get those working.  Then you can at least get an idea of either what step is going wrong, or if it might happen to be an issue with the network management tool you are using.  So see if you can get wpa_supplicant/wpa_passphrase and dhcpcd working (or iw/iwconfig instead of wpa_supplicant if you are using wep).
Finally, I would like to commend your use of code tags.  That is certainly very impressive for a brand new forum member!

If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account.  You can either go to https://expresslane.apple.com, select "More Products and Services", then "Apple ID", then  on the next page select "Other Apple ID Topics", then "Lost or forgotten Apple ID password" and click "Continue"; or you can contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

  • Bridge does not work for wireless clients - connecting to existing network.

Hi - I really hope somebody can help out here, after hours of trial & error, I have finally given up
I need to connect my Airport Extreme Base Station to my existing network. I have a linksys router (192.168.15.1) connected to my modem and this linksys router acts as DHCP server too.
I suppose I have to use "bridge mode" for that to work. But should the linksys be connected to the AEBS using the AEBS's WAN or LAN port?
If I use "bridge mode", then wired computers to the AEBS works fine - getting an IP from the linksys etc. BUT, the wireless clients will have a self-assigned IP and not get through to the internet. It's like the AEBS will not allow wireless clients to "get through" unless AEBS itself is handing out IP addresses.
Page 36 of this manual ( http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/DesigningAirPort_Networks10.5-Windows.pdf ) shows the setup I want. But in the picture, it says "Ethernet WAN port" but the text says: "The Apple wireless device (in this example, a Time Capsule) uses your Ethernet network to communicate with the Internet through the Ethernet LAN port ( <--> )." I don't know which one to use, WAN or LAN - they show WAN but say LAN?
When I set it up as "share an IP address", the AEBS status tells me "double nat" and to change from "shared IP" to "bridge mode". I do that, and everything seems fine - for the wired clients. Now the wireless clients cannot connect, Airport on the MacBook Pro just say "Connection failed" and the MacBook says "Invalid password" (translated from danish), even though I set the Airport Utlity to save the password in keyring, so it should be correct... If I disable wireless encryption, the wireless clients will connect but get a self-assigned IP, and therefor not work (cannot get online)...
It seems the only way I can get wireless to work, is if I set AEBS up as DHCP, but then it won't be on the "same network" as the linksys (192.168.15.1), but rather on 10.0.x.x as I select. If I select 192.168.x.x within AEBS, I'm also getting some error messages, conflict/subnet thing.
Anyway - I really hope somebody knows how to get wireless clients to get an IP address from existing ethernet when connected to the AEBS.
    Thanks!!

I've given up and had to go back to running "Double NAT" which also reports as a "problem" within the AEBS, but I just "ignore" it so the light will always be green.
It still ***** though, as "Double NAT" is also a reason for "Back to my Mac" not working properly, but how the ** am I supposed to avoid Double NAT when the wireless will not work in bridged mode?!

  • WRT610N - intermittent wireless access for all wireless clients; standard fixes don't work

My network had been working fine for over a year, and now I'm getting intermittent wireless access.  Everything will be ok for a day or two, and then all of a sudden nothing wireless will work (the wired computer will still work): 1 Vista desktop, 1 vista laptop, 1 XP laptop, wireless printer, and iPod touches.
Vista computers will either say "the network has denied the association request" or the "network key is incorrect" (it isn't).  On XP computers, I can get to the point where the computer is trying to acquire an IP address, but it just times out.
    So far:
    - Made sure signal strength is good (most have full bars)
    - Upgraded firmware (worked for 2 days)
    - Made sure all drivers were up to date
    - Changed the broadcast channel (most recent fix, everything worked for 2 days)
I've never had default configurations; my SSID was enabled and set up from the beginning.  I recently moved from WEP to WPA because a new Vista laptop refused to work with WEP.  The clients do not pick up any other network signals from neighbors.
A router reboot sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.  Like everything else I've done, if it works, if it's for a day or so.
Everything worked for a year until about 2 weeks ago (a week after I switched from WEP to WPA - coincidence?).

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names present in the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...
Right click on the Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...
Now it will give you the opportunity to put the network/wep key, make sure you enter the correct network key and confirm it...
    It will connect...
    Vista :
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

FaceTime not working on my Macbook Pro. I am able to sign in successfully and add contacts.  When I try to call a contact with an iPhone, it says connecting then fails by ending automatically.   When someone try to FaceTime me,I accept but it says connecting then fail.  I only have a MacBook Pro to FaceTime and not an iPhone.  I was informed that I should be able to FaceTime from my laptop via video call without an iPhone.
    Please advise.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    1. The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    2. Connect to a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot, and try again.

  • Union All with Linked Servers - Works until loaded on to the report server then fails.

    Hi,
On our production server I have 2 linked servers.  One that leads to ServiceNow via ODBC and one that leads to an HP Openview database.
Testing these linked servers works fine.  I have a query that obtains info from each source and 'union all' together.  When i run this query in SQL Server management studio it works fine and I get info from both data sources union-ed together perfectly.
I transfer this into Visual Studio and create a report, which again runs perfectly.
I upload this report to the report server and try to run it and get the error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query execution failed for dataset 'Dataset1'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
When I rummage through the log files for the report server, I find very little helpful errors, basically this:
    ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException: Query execution failed for dataset 'Dataset1'. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot
    execute the query.
I did a test where I created a copy of the report and ran only he Servicenow  section of the report and it works, then ran only the HP section of the report and it works.  It seems the UNION ALL is the problem somehow.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks
    Kirsty

    Hi Kirsty,
As you posted, this issue is caused by the security configuration of Linked Server.
Generally, in a domain environment, we can specify a domain account as the stored credentials for the report, and then configure the Linked Server to "Be made using the login’s current security context".
However,if we specify a SQL Server login as the stored credentials for the report, please set the Linked Server security to "By using this security context", and then providing the necessary credentials to authenticate at the linked server.
Please also add the Reporting Services Security role to the Linked Server Remote Server Login Mappings.
