Learn SRM or MM/WM

I plan to take up SAP training at SAP-ATC & would like your views on weather I should Learn SRM or MM/WM
My background is in Logistics ( @ 15 years).
Also, if you have any better or cheaper & equally good alternatives to SAP-ATC , please do let me know

If you have experience in Logistics for 15 years and if you are aware of SAP MM or WM module then you can very well opt for SRM training.
If you are new to SAP then try taking training in MM module first and get some experience and then opt for SRM training. Its extremely difficult to take up SRM training without prior background in SAP or without extensive knowledge of MM module. SRM is advanced application for MM module. As Nitin as suggested browse through the SAP education site where they would have mentioned the pre-requisites for any course. Check out the details.
Alternatively if you are looking for a cheaper training options then do look out for other forums and yahoogroups where SAP consulatnts conduct training as a part time business. They charge minimal fees and also share their real time experience.

Since you are already having good exposure to SD and MM Modules, it will not not much time to grab the details. Here are few links which will guide you.
SRM Certification Exam is quite simple when you are familiar with SRM210 Course.
Certification have test questions like:
1 Which of the following are true
a In Classic Scenario, PO to the vendor is always sent from the R/3

I am SAP MM Certified Consultant & did my training for MM Module from Siemens ( Sapient College )& paid 2.5 lac for that and Since then I am working as a SAP MM consultant in an MNC since past 2 years, done 2 implementations and had a functional experience of 4 years in purchasing .
Had work for MNCs only & having good expertise in Domain area .Total Experience 5 years out of that 2 years SAP MM experience .
Dear all can you tell me what should i do so as to make a successful career in SRM.? How long should i stay in MM and what should I learn besides MM.I have already started working on SRM .
I wish to do SRM training again from Siemens but this point of time , I dont have enough money to do SRM training from Siemens . Could anyone suggest , where I can learn SRM in Bangalore & get trained in this New thing and do i need some programming knowledge in it.

If you want learn SRM then please go throguh the SAPSRM material or SRM over view then you will understand complete business processess and technical scneario's of SRM.

Dear All,
I am learning SRM.SRM 5.0 Ides has been installed in my system. I try to login through browser link. As per the below step I got the browser link.
Go to transaction SICF
Search Service Name BBPSTART
Right click the BBPSTART and Test Service
Browser is opened and show you the logon screen.
URL looks like this.
http://[hostname.domain:port]/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbpstart?sap-client=800
Now I am successfully got the browser link.However system not allow me to enter anything in Users & password field.
It give the following error.
No switch to HTTPS occured, so it is not secure to send a password SSO logon not possible: logon tickets not activated on the server. Choose logon to continue. A dialog box appears in which you can enter your user & password.
Kindly help me to short out some the above issue.

1-Set instance parameters:
Login/create_sso2_ticket = 2
Login/create_sso2_ticket = 2
2-Restart the application server
3- Launch transaction SSO2
4- Check service BBPSTART in SICF transaction.

All are related to SRM
1)SRM SUS :: I SUS-Supplier Self Service.: In this vendor are linked with SAP SRM server the data will be exchanged from SAP SRM server to the vendor WEB based service and vice versa
Each vendor will be given a User ID & Password.
The vendor can logon to the webportal to access the data related to him like
1. Purchase order details.
2.Goods receipt details (or) Confirmation in SRM
3.Invoice details etc.
2) EBP : Enterprise buyer professional, before SAP introduced SRM the e procurement is used to be done in SAP EBP.Currently we are in SAP EBP 5.0 Version
3) SAP CCM :: Catalog Content Management. SAP CCM is to maintain catalogs.
Catalogue is a defined set of data will be published in the Itnernet (or) intranet.
If a shopping cart is to be raised you can take data from the catalogue.
in the catalog for each material , vendor ,price is there .
Once shopping cart is ordered and it is approved. in the BACKEND (SAP R/3) or in SAP EBP
itself P.O is created .It is a Big area

SRM is good for technical consultants also...but only thing is if you are having good exp in advanced ABAP then you can learn SRM easily...it also requires littlie bit MM funcational knwoedlge..
SRM techno funcaitonal role very good market is there......

IMHO, In Order to work in areas like SRM you should have both functional and technical knowledge. How deep depends on your role and access to an environment you can learn.
Say you have good ABAP skills, understand SRM functionality as to 3 implementation scenarios
--> Classic
--> Extended Classic
--> Standalone
What are various configurations?
How different modules/functions work with each other?
Yes i feel a person can manage to learn SRM.

Beginner to SRM

Hi Guys,
I am new to SRM , my came from ABAP , MM and XI. I have completed certification in XI and worked in some SRM ( non SAP) to r/3 (MM) senarions on creating PO, PO confirmation and PO Change.
So, I feel like learning SRM . Anybody can help me in getting started with SRM.

Dont worry about this - this is not a useful test if I understand correctly what you did here. Did you try and right click on MIME when viewing it in transaction SICF and then you select "Test Service" from the Context menu? If YES then this is not a useful test. If the WEBGUI works correctly i.e in that it shows images and icons correctly, then WEBGUI's MIME's are being accessed correctly.

As you are SD person, before going to learn SRM I will suggest you that you need to know about the processes of MM. Please read and go throughthe processes of MM then proceed towards SRM processes, It will make your understanding in a better way.
All the processes of SRM are in help.sap.com --> SAP Business Suite -->SAP Supplier Relationship Mgmt.

Hi,
ABAP is only used as the programming language in SRM also.However as a SRM technical developer,you need to be confortable working with certain tools like Workflows, Enhancments in particular.Also as SRM is a web based tool ,additional knowledge of web based technologies like ITS,HTML,BSP's ,Enterprise portal is plus.
Also Middleware is an integral part of SRM as it is used for replication of master data from R/3 backend system to SRM systems.SRM uses the same middleware component as CRM.So if you have worked on CRM middleware,its the same in SRM.
With SRM,vendors can also participate in the procurement process using Supplier collaboration . For intefacing with Vendor systems,XI is used.There is SUS component of SRM which is also used for the same purpose.
But again as Prashant said,knowledge of both functional(Business process,system config,product info) as well as technical(coding,debugging etc) areas would be the ideal profile for an SRM consultant on any type of SRM project.
