Learn to Play Guitar has distortion

Basic lesson #7 (major barre chords) has the same distortion effect as lesson #6 (power chords) where it makes sense. In lesson #7 the distortion makes it really difficult to hear whether all strings ring correctly. Is there a way to change the effects in the lessons?
I've just updated to GB 10 (10.0.1 to be exact) before starting so I don't know whether this has changed with the update.

Hi,
According to the video tutorial, there is possible to get guitar lessons from garage band.
Unfortunately, I can't get to this feature.
In the video is something like "choose learn to play guitar from a new project dialog box".
When I open a new instrument, there is no such option.
Anyone can help how to activate this feature?

GB11 Learn to Play: Electric guitar too dirty, want clean

Hi everyone,
Is there a way to switch my electric guitar sound during Learn to Play from dirty to clean? For example, in basic lesson 7 (Major Barre Chords), the instructor's guitar is clean. However, my own instrument comes through horribly dirty/distorted. It's hard for me to audibly compare my recording to the instructor, and I think it's screwing up my score as well. I also suspect the effects processing might be adding a bit of lag, further hurting my score. (I couldn't be that bad, right? )

Learn to Play - Resetting Display Preferences.

While I was exploring guitar 'Learn to Play', my little boy mashed the keyboard resulting in the lesson display preferences changing and now I can't figure out how to change them back.
Specifically, the guitar neck at the bottom of the display has disappeared and the instructional video has reduced in size by about half. As well, underneath the lesson timeline there is what appears to be a purple audio track that wasn't there when I started but now I can't get rid of. I have scoured these forums and the Internet in general and can't seem to find instructions on how to return to the default display preferences.
I've attempted to but can't located and trash the plist and cs files. I can't locate it by browsing the Library > Preferences or by Spotlighting it. I did find an ilife09.plist. Should I mess with that? I can't wrap my head around that one; they're not where they should be, it makes me wonder if Garageband 09 even maintains these types of preference files?
Because it's simple, I then attempted to trash the Garageband application file and reinstall from DVD. My efforts were fruitless. Upon opening the freshly reinstalled Garageband and loading lesson one guitar Learn to Play, the display preferences were as my boy left them.

Cant get rid of download error message in garage band learn to play

I had trouble downloading lessons 5 and 7 in the Blues Guitar learn to play. I found a discussion addressing this, and was able to complete the down load by logging into the guest account. I have all the lessons, but now I can't get rid of the error message that says Garage Band still is waiting to download the lessons. When I click on the message it refers me to call the Apple Store. I was in their electronic feedback loop for 15 mins before I bailed. Any ideas?

Might be easiest to run their uninstall app.
This might mean you have to reinstall it if it is already deleted or better yet download and just mount the volume to open the folders to get to the uninstaller.

Mac Mini has Distorted audio over HDMI

My brand new mid-2010 Mac Mini has distorted audio over HDMI. Ideas? Tried multiple connections, devices, but the Mini's audio flattens and distorts high pitch sounds. Really distracting, makes movie watching impossible. Thinking about returning it.

Update: After a bunch of playing around, it appears that I do, in fact, have audio output. What is missing are the up and down volume chirps. I can do without that.
Now, anyone know how to fix the Logitec webcam's input volume...?

In iTunes, is there any way to play one song at at time and have the song stop at its end. I want to play guitar with a track and have that track stop playing rather than going to the next song.

I want to play a single song in iTunes on my ipad and have the track stop when the song finishes, rather than itunes playing the next track. I play guitar with the track and need iTunes to stop at the end of the song.
I have worked around this issue by creating a separate play list for each song, then inserting the song into the play list. I would like to find a more straight forward solution that would eliminate this extra step. On my PC, I use QuickTime to bring up an individual song and then can play one track at a time.

On the IPod if the shuffle icon is colored blue it is ON, if it is colored white it is OFF. This control is global, if it is ON any album or list will be shuffled.

I want to play guitar with a friend through my iphone4 and his ipad. Is this possible??? I hooked my Iphone4 to a FM transmitter so I could hear my friend through my stereo. However, whenever I played, his feed cut out. Is there a way to play music in real time using these devices?

My aperture library has distorted for one of my projects. What can I do? (Details contained within)

My aperture library (Aperture 3 - with recent updates) has distorted for one of my projects. Originally, they were functional images, however, they are now essentially corrupt (composed of irregular colours/format). I have tried repairing library, generating thumbnails, and generating previews with no success.
Here's the story:
I was importing my images from a Lexar Pro 300x 32GB compactflash disc (from a Nikon D3s Camera). They were generating thumbnails fine and uploading fine. I erased the disc and ejected upon completion of the uploading process. As I started to view the images they all went corrupt in front of my eyes (as I was viewing them). It should be noted that I am uncertain if corrupt is the correct terminology.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to upload a screenshot of the image, however, it looks like random colour streaks.
My computer specs are as follows:
24 inch iMac, 3.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Ram. Mac OS X 10.6.7.
Any advice/suggestions would be highly appreciated!
If any further information is required I will be more than glad to supply it, as these pictures have an element of sentimental value to them.

It definitely sounds like the RAW files are corrupted. What you were seeing in Aperture at first was the JPG preview the camera imbeds in the RAW file. Aperture uses that at first to get an image up while it process the RAW file.
Because you deleted the images on the card already there is no way to know where the corruption took place. As Ernie wrote it is important to erase and format the card in the camera and definitely you don't want to erase until you're sure the image have been taken off the card and are OK.
All may not be lost however. There was a similar situation a while back see How to find corrupt masters I was able to access the preview and the resultant image was pretty good. If you really want or need to recover this images take a look at that thread and post back.

Learn to Play Artist Previews not Working

I can't seem to see the video of the Learn to Play Artist lessons. I'm hesitant to buy a lesson if my video is going to look like it does. It's really just a bunch of wavy lines.
Any thoughts?

Exact same problem here too. I have a playlist of recently added music, sorted by date added. It's in order in iTunes, and even in order when I click on the playlist on my iPhone in iTunes. But on the Music app on the iPhone, it's in completely random order. This happens every time, with any sorted playlist, even if I create a new one, even if I click copy to play order. Makes playlists useless.

Learn to play on GarageBand for iOS?

Aside from one screen shot found online that looks like it came from the computer, I can't tell if learn to play is a feature on the iOS version of GarageBand. Is it? That's the onl rreason why I want the iOS version. Thanks!

I've downloaded the "Learn to play" session in Garageband '09 and watched them. Now I do not want to use them anymore and due to this remove them from my harddrive to save diskspace.
HOW do I uninstall/remove the "Learn to play" demonstration files?

My guess is HD>Library>Application Support>Garageband>Learn to Play>Basic Lessons and trash the ones you don't want.

Worrying message from Learn to Play

Just purchased a preowned G5 (first Mac) 2G/1G RAM and immediately upgraded from Tiger to OS X 10.5.6, iLife and iWork, bought iBank, and installed a new printer. Machine is running slowly at times, and I'm getting the message "Learn to Play feature requires an Intel-based Mac with a dual-core processor or better" How do I verify my hardware?

Menus are not enabled, unable to download additional learn to play videos

Meny required menu's are disabled in my GarageBand.
What should I do to get those enabled? I need to download additional Learn To Play Videos.

What exactly happens, when you try to download the missing loops - when you click on a missing loop and choose "Update now"?
My Library... Apple Loops folder is empty, but the pre-installed loops for Garageband are there.
Are you looking in the library in your Home Folder
"~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/" , or in the System library "/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/" ?
The loops should be installed in the System Library
"/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/".
How did you set up your new mac? Did you migrate from an older mac using Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant? Did you migrate an earlier GarageBand installation?

Microphone sounds garbled when I sing and play guitar.

Hello, I just purchased a lenovo G505 and when i try to record when i play guitar and sing it comes out all garbled and like there is water in the background. I tried it on skyp and it worked fine it seems it is picking up the guitar as background noise and makes it garbled... my voice sound ok. I also bought an external mic.... no difference.. I also tried different distances.. no luck... what can I do...???? thanks J

Can you try the following:
1. Disable Microphone Boost by opening Control Panel (icon Views) > Sound > Recording Tab. Select the Microphone that you're using then click Properties > Levels Tab.

2. Enable / Disable Audio Enhancements and observe
- navigate to Control Panel (Icon Views) > Smart Audio and see if you can disable Microphone Noise Reduction, Echo Cancellation, etc.
