Learning content on IE7

Hi,
I have learning content developed by 2-3 vendors. Content provided by most vendors that I upload using AE works as expected on Internet Explorer 7. But there is content provided by one vendor which when run independently works in IE7, but when I upload and run it through the portal it does not. It works perfectly on an IE6 desktop though.
I have changed the Java runtime settings from the control panel to use only one version of the java applet, but the problem still exists. It can't be a network security issue as both the desktops I have used have the same settings. The only difference between the two is the IE version.
Is there anyone else who has faced a similar problem relating to IE versions and its compatibility with learning content?
Thank you.
Regards,
Priya.

  • SPP and e-learning content integration with LMS

    HI,
I urgently need help. We have developed e-learning content in SPP. The LMS is Moodle. I am linking the SPP published course into Moodle. when I launch the course from moodle, the user is asked to log onto the spp server. IS there anyway I can get SPP and Moodle to integrate without this double log-in procedure?
Is there any way the user can log onto Moodle and then launch the course without having to launch SPP?

As Rob has already mentioned, you need to look into SSO technology to solve this. Then, the user will login the first time and this will cause an SSO2 ticket to be issued, which is stored in browser as a domain cookie, then sent to the other system and recognised/trusted, so that the other system knows that the user has already authenticated. If user has already authenticated and the cookie is trusted, the user won't see another signon screen.
Maybe you need to post a question on the SDN security forum to get more help with this ?
A common way to authenticate users via browser is to use the Active Directory credentials obtained when user logs onto their workstation using a domain account. Then, the only time the user needs to authenticate is when they logon to Windows, and after that the user is recognised by all SAP systems accessed via a browser. A similar method can be setup with thick-client applications (e.g. when browser not used) and this would use SNC to provide Active Directory based authentication.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot play Flash content in IE7

When I navigate IE7 to any site (including adobe.com) that
has Flash content, I get a message saying I need to enable
javascript (it is) and/or upgrade my Flash player. I am running
Vista, and this worked until sometime in the last week or so.
Flash content does run on this machine inside Firefox 3.0.1,
but IE7 appears to be dead.
The error message I get is "Error in loading DLL". It appears
to pop up when the javascript code is trying to load or access the
    flash content.
I tried installing the Flash Player 9.0.124 using the web
    site - no luck.
I tried uninstalling (clean), rebooting, then installing from
the web site - no luck.
I tried uninstalling (clean), rebooting, then used the manual
installer (Install Flash Player 9 AX) - no luck.
I tried uninstalling (clean), rebooting, then used the manual
    installer (FlashUtil9f) - no luck.
I tried running reset_minimal.cmd (per instructions) - no
    luck.
I tried disabling my AV (Kaspersky) while repeating all of
    the above - no luck.
I tried running sfc /scannow but it reports no errors.
    I tried the Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset to "reset"
IE to its defaults - no luck.
I am really, really stumped on this one. What should I do
    next?

BWolfe, dougclutter, and others with Doug's problem:
BWolfe, I'm truly amazed that dougclutter and others have had
this very specific and real problem for so long, and Adobe hasn't
lifted a finger to cure it. I'm stunned. I've been plagued with
this thing for at least 3 months now, and have been all over the
net looking for a remedy, after finding absolutely no help from
    Adobe.
    Here's what my symptoms are:
IE with Flash works in all accounts but mine.
Latest Adobe Flash player (10) is properly installed. Flash
content will play on IE8 in anyone's User Account on this machine
but mine. The only way flash content will play in my user account
is if it is started as "Run As Administrator". Can actually run 2
instances of IE side by side, one started normally, the other
started as "Run as Administrator". Oprah, U Tube, etc., will run
flash content in the latter window, but won't in the former. Flash
errors (in IE7} are something to the effect, "Can't run DLL", with
line number reference, etc. No help from Adobe, HP (my machine
manufacturer) or Microsoft without paying them a bundle. Just
updated IE7 to 8, problem unchanged.
    Elaboratiing:
When right clicking on where Flash Player is supposed to be,
then clicking the "about Adobe Flash... ", the browser is sent to:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
When clicking on the error message at the bottom of the
browser, the following error message is displayed. (This was

    here.)

Flash content DOES play with Adobe Flash 10 in my user

with IE8 browser. However, the IE8 browser does play Flash content
in any and every other user account.
BWolfe, instead of telling us about proper Adobe procedures
for reporting and troubleshooting these things, how about you
forward this to someone who can tell us how to fix this thing! I,
like dougclutter and others, have been thru the entire Adobe Flash
Player troubleshooting guide, carried out every suggestion there
exactly, to no avail. I can show you at least 3 other instances of
different folks with this same problem. And, as I think I've seen
elsewhere in this thread, and tried myself, Adobe certainly doesn't
make it easy to report non-paying customer problems, as with Flash
    Player.
It's high time Adobe gets with at least one of us to help
diagnose and cure this problem, and then adds the info to their
troubleshooting guide, or else fix it in the application if
possible. Whether the problem is in the app, or do to interaction
with Vista and possibly XP, you guys need to look into this thing.
I, for one, would be more than happy to help you 'shoot this thing,
I am and engineer and have been computing since the DOS days.

  • LSO Enterprise Learning - Content Caching

Can someone share their experience and any recommendations related to the Caching of content within the LSO system (including KM).
We have had mixed results with content caching in our testing so I want to know if our results are an anomaly.
    Thanks, Randy

    Hi Randy McCormick,
We cache the content centrally, we have tried to work with local caching however that chrashed our Content Player, so we gave up that strategy. Caching centrally has given us some performance issues, but the issues we have faced with local caching was bigger when we tested.
Another thing that we have tested on is running with/without the JSAPI, here our expierence is definitely running WITH the JSAPI setting activated.
If you are able I would like to hear what your expierence is

  • Can we change offereing from learning under the Content Tab

    Dear,
We had offered a course and people attended the class, in which some got passed or failed. Now my question is that can we change the offerting name with new one which training has already been done by using updating/Creating Button over there.
Suppose, Offereing Done with 'Oracle HRMS Learn' but we have create a new offering "Oracle Learning Manger" and want to replace it with new one. will effect the record or now issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi!
I'm not sure if I understand your question exactly, but here are some suggestions that I think will help:
The easiest way to modify the Offering for an existing Course once it has been created is through the Catalog tab and not the Content tab.  Based on your question, however, it sounds like your best approach may be to create a brand new Course instead because the subject matter is different from your first Course.
As a best practice, your Offering names should be consistent across all of your Courses and they should match the delivery mode of the training so that your Learners know what to expect when they choose a specific Offering.  For example, if you have an "Oracle HRMS Learn" Course, you would have an Offering underneath it called "Online Self-Paced Training" (or something like that) and a Class called "Oracle HRMS Learn."  This way, if you ever want to offer this Course using a different delivery mode, you could create a new Offering under the course (i.e., "Instructor-Led Training") and it would be easy for your Learners to decide how they'd like to take the Course.
    Oracle HRMS Learn
    Online Self-Paced TrainingOracle HRMS Learn
    Instructor-Led Training
    Oracle HRMS Learn - 09-Jan-2014
    Oracle HRMS Learn - 13-Feb-2014
If you have a new online Course that you'd like to offer that has a different subject, you should create a brand new Course with a new Offering that points to the online content files, and a new Class under the Offering.  Then, you can copy your existing enrollments from the other Class that people have already completed to the new Class under your new Course.  For example, you could create "Oracle Learning Manager" as the Course, and then have "Online Self-Paced Training" as the Offering, and "Oracle Learning Manager" as the Class.
Oracle Learning ManagerOnline Self-Paced TrainingOracle Learning Manager
The only time you'd want to change the Learning Object that an Offering points to is when you have an updated version of the same Course.  For example, if your Learners took the Oracle HRMS Learn content in 2013 and then you updated the content for 2014, you could keep the same Course, Offering, and Class, and then just update the Learning Object that your Offering points to.  You could then send out a message to everyone in the Class that they should re-take it (or list it as part of a Learning Certification so that renewals are tracked through OLM), and everyone that takes it in the future will see the new content.
My company has freely available "Unofficial Guides to OLM" for users and administrators that you may find useful with step-by-step instructions and best-practice recommendations.  Here's where you can download both guides:

    I hope this helps!

  • IE7 messing up content

Weird, weird, weird. When viewing Flash content in IE7 (and
this happens only in IE7), a graphic (movieclip) that is embedded
in the swf gets repositioned. Sometimes a text field (static text,
filters applied) gets repositioned too. It then only shows the top
part of the text field. The problem is not consistent but occurs
    frequently.
I've never seen anything like this before, so, anyone who has
seen this and more importantly, is there a known fix for this
    issue?

Thanks for the link to the other topic. If I did get the second widget when I updated to 4.4.4, I must have just removed it from the home screen and never given it a second thought. As far as with the Music update, I still had the older widget on my home screen before I uninstalled Music, so I didn't notice, however over on the Google+ Walkman Beta Test community I did notice a post about the new Music app (not sure if it's the just released version or an older beta) complaining about the same thing, so I'd say no, the progress bar and start/end times are still missing from the widget. Here's the picture from Google+.

  • Creating interactive tutorial content - Is Director the most suitable program to learn?

I have no experience using Adobe Director. I have just downloaded the trial version and had a look at a handful of tutorial videos. Before I get stuck in with it, I would appreciate advice on whether Director is suitable for my intended purposes:
I want to start making English language learning content and want to learn one or two programs for creating programs for online/apps,etc... I need to start learning something that I can start using quickly to create programs/internet pages/apps to create educational content with video, audio. Is Director the right choice?
A typical 'lesson' might consist of the following: A short video clip of real life or TV/film entertainment followed by interactive exercises / games for whatever area of language focus is chosen for the lesson. I imagine I would need to prepare my video outside the program first - chopping up the clips I want to use - perhaps chopping short clips e.g. one sentence phrases, and then perhaps extracting out the audio and using just that in various ways.  I would want to add my own text and so on. I would obviously have to start out fairly basic but I want a program that can be expanded on as much as possible. For example, the ability to make the program store correct/incorrect responses and react accordingly - repeating content that students have not yet mastered, perhaps also creating audio clips... Would something like recording of student spoken performance also be possible - and at a stretch, bringing in voice recognition?? That would be way down the line - at the outset I would be happy with something that is more or less like a lesson - presentation with video as my main content, followed by a handful of interactive exercises.
At this stage I would focus on just one medium e.g. basic web page materials for my personal students to access for homework - but in future have the ability to transfer the lesson content to multimedia educational/games if that's possible.
I see there is a whole suite of Adobe products to choose from. Do I need to learn a handful of these, if so which? Also there is the issue of cost as at the outset I would be using this just for learning purposes and to use with my own students. I highly doubt my company would be willing to pay for the programs / subscription - at least until I have spent enough time creating content to get some decent useful results and for them to see the value in it. So I would be on my own at the outset in terms of putting the time in and paying to use the software.
I am aware that my questions may be extremely broad, perhaps not easy to answer succinctly - but any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated - even if it's just to let me know that I am on the right track in guessing that Director will do the job. Suggestions for other programs that I could look at either as alternatives, or for use in conjunction with Director (what about Flash??).
It seems a massive program and I will need to learn a basic subset of tools within the program to get me started, so any guidance on narrowing down what I need to focus on would be a great help.
    Any help/suggestions are very welcome

The answer is absolutely no to your question, "Is Director the most suitable program to learn?".
Director is a dead technology. Do not waste hundreds of hours learning it. Also forget Flash. It's going away. I would not waste time learning that either.
I suggest learning HTML5 & JavaScript. Obviously you can develop interactive multimedia for the web with these, but increasingly IDEs and frameworks are being developed that use these two languages; enabling you to write once and export to multiple platforms.
The following are some technologies that you should consider. Some are free. Others are free until you publish a title or want to upgrade to the professional version.

  • Problem with Flash Player in IE7 / IE8

    I'm stumped.
    I've got a problem running Flash content in IE7 / IE8. I had
Adobe Master Suite CS3 installed on my laptop, and had no issues
running Flash content in any browser including IE7 when this was
installed. I've recently un-installed it and can no longer run
Flash content in IE7. I've tried re-installing Adobe Flash Player
from the Adobe website and, whilst the browser window is open, I
can run Flash contect with no issues. However, when IE7 is closed
and then re-opened, it stops running Flash content again. No errors
are experienced, just a black space or a "you must have flash
installed to view this content" message where the Flash content
should be. If I re-install again, I can view the content until I
close IE7. I've tried upgrading to IE8 but I'm getting the same
    problem.
I have FireFox 3, Opera and Google Chrome installed also, and
have no issues playing Flash content in these browsers.
    Please help!

    All sorted now...
Removed Flash Player and its ActiveX control. Completely
reset IE8. Re-installed Flash Player 9. Now working.
Should have done this hours ago!

  • Oracle iLearning - playing content is very slow

    Hello,
We have problem with iLearning speed. When the content is played in the application server, it shows the content really quickly, but when it is played on the local PC, the speed decreases dramatically. We have checked the servers, the network, everything is fine. What we found, that the speed of viewing learning content on local PC is fast (same as it viewed on server) when no Java is installed (of course in this case we always get errors, and it is impossible to view tests). It looks like, problem can be with Java. Maybe it can be Java configuration problem on server side?
    Thank you.
    Vaida

    Hello Scott,
"When the content is played in the application server, it shows the content really quickly" - yes, I mean when the learner enters the Oracle iLearning site in the application server (locally where the application server is installed) and launches the course (it is played in the Oracle iLearning course player).
"but when it is played on the local PC, the speed decreases dramatically" - I mean that the learner enters the Oracle iLearning site outside the application server (on his own computer) and launches the same course with Oracle iLearning player.

  • How to make the uploaded content available to learners.

    Dear Experts,
I'm new to this area on SAP-LSO.
With the help of some experts from this forum, I was able to successfully load a SCORM compliant learning content to the master repository through the authoring tool. The content is now visible in the KM directory in my portal.
    Now the problem is,
How do I allow a learner to see/play this content ?
    i.e,
a>How and what roles are to be provided for the user who is a learner?
b>How will the learner be able to see/play the uploaded content?
c>Is the content player to be accessed seperately to play the uploaded SCORM Content? If yes, how and where?
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
    Regds,
    Srini
P.S : I tried using, the std BSP Application, HCM_LEARNING and previewd the page LESO.htm but I could'nt find the content which I had uploaded in KM folder through the authoring tool.

How do I allow a learner to see/play this content ?
    i.e,
a>How and what roles are to be provided for the user who is a learner?
    Give standard role:
    SAP_HR_LSO_LEARNER
    SAP_HR_LSO_COURSEPLAYER
b>How will the learner be able to see/play the uploaded content?
Link the uploaded content with a WBT course type. When you create course type WBT, there will be a mandatory field about course content.
And put the WBT course type into a course catalog.
You also already set SAP Portal. So, learner will login to SAP Portal and access Learner Tab. There, course catalog is stored, and learner can book the course type. After book, there is a button to access the material.
c>Is the content player to be accessed seperately to play the uploaded SCORM Content? If yes, how and where?
Content player is needed to play the uploaded SCORM content, especially when we create the material using Authoring Tools. But, if learner already in SAP Portal and access the content, Content Player doesn't need to be executed separately.

  • Unable to create a test  via Content Management via Content Administration

I am unable to create a test or survey via Content Management via Content Administration because insufficient privileges message. I create the folder and enter the test information for creating a test and then I after I click apply. I get message “You have insufficient privileges for the current operation. Please contact your System Administrator”.
The System Administrator viewed the profile being tied to the responsibility and thinks there is no problem. Somebody please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Help……

    Hi, James.
If you add the main "Learning Administrator" role (UMX|OTA_LRNG_ADMIN), it will include all child roles for the Administrator, including the Learning Content Administrator, Learning Catalog Administrator, Learning Enrollment Administrator, Learning Finance Administrator, Learning Resource Administrator, and Learning Setup Administrator. If you don't have all of these roles, there are functions you will not have access to under the Learning Administrator responsibilities.
The "Learning Instructor - Update" role only allows users that have the Learning Instructor Self-Service responsibility to update enrollment statuses for Learners that have attended classes that they are set as a resource for and won't impact the Administrator functionality.

  • Loading child SWFs with TLF content (from Flash CS5.5) generates reference errors in FB4.6

I am currently producing e-learning content with our custom AS3-Framework.
We normally create content files in Flash CS5.5 with dynamic text fields, which are set at runtime from our Framework (AS3 framework in FB4.6).
Now we are in the progress of language versioning, and since one of the languages is Arabic we are changing the dynamic text fields to TLF fields.
    Then all my problems started.
In Flash I have chosen to include the TLF engine and to export in frame 2.
    (see to: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash/kb/loading-child-swfs-tlf-content.html )
    I get this error:
VerifyError: Error #1053: Illegal override of getEventMirror in flashx.textLayout.elements.FlowLeafElement.
                at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndPlay()
I guess it is because our framework wants to gotoAndPlay before the TLF engine has been loaded.
    Can this be it?
Any good suggestions on how to handle loading child SWFs with TLF content.

  • Content Types

So here is my scenario. We are a small business (3 people) who develop learning content and want to use a SP doc library to manage it.
Our hierarchy of content is as follows:
    Curriculum 1
         ----> Course 1
                -----> Lesson 1
                -----> Lesson 2
        -----> Course 2
                ------> Lesson 3
               ------> Lesson 4
Curriculum 2 with courses and lessons and so on...
Our document is a Lesson. Lessons are used in courses. Courses are used in a Curriculum.
My though was that I could use Content Types for Courses that will contain all Course Names and the same for Curriculum for all Curriculum names as it will it a lot easier as we add more and more Lessons to the document Library.
But never having used content types before I am not sure how to do that. I know where the Content Types are added but I don't know how to add the data to the content types and then attach it to the Lesson documents.
Anyone have any ideas on what I might need to do?

it all depends on the total number of docs, docs/course, courses/curr, etc.But just at a glance of what you've shown here, I would say you will definitely want to use document sets, to enable them, activate the site collection level feature named document
sets.  this is essentially a folder turned into a content type, so you can store documents within the "document" (set).  great for metadata and properties in this scenario, as you can set a property on the document set and have all of the content
within it share that property value.  you could then set more specific metadata on the sub-items.  I would think something like this might work:
1 document library for each curriculum with custom columns that are specific to the entire curriculum as a whole (you could create a library with the columns, then save it as a template to reuse for new curriculum without having to redo the column settings).
also, make sure to allow management of content types on the library, this will let you specify which content types are allowed
1 content type which inherits from document set CT.  set the columns which would be used for the course, you can also mark if those are shared to children or just apply to the doc set itself.
1 content type which is a child of Document which is fairly generic, but has the basic columns which apply to all your documents, from there, if you wanted, you could create children CTs of this to allow for a more customizable feel for different types of
lessons.  maybe an online lesson vs inperson lesson uses different types of metadata columns, etc (this type of project is really all based on your business needs and extremely specific to each individual company/dept, etc.  people quite frequently
hire consultants and bus. analysts specifically to design this hierarchy)
add the content types to your library and start messing about creating them and test how you like the shareing of properties, and views, etc.  if you're going it alone on this in a small business, there will be a lot of trial & error and just getting
a feel for what you want/need.  hopefully we can help you through it here in the forums
for reference (also, fyi, libraries are the same as lists, but with docs.  so setting things up are the same either way.  Also, 90% of the stuff you find for 2010 in this area will also work or be extremely similar in 2013).  there's a lot
