  • ESS for R/3 4.6C on new NetWeaver Portal -- deployment fails!

    Hi ESS Experts,
We're having problems deploying the older BP for ESS R/3 4.6C to our Netweaver Portal. Our Software Deployment Manager canu2019t install the file. Normally, BPs are .sca files but the BP for ESS 4.6C is a .zip file. We can manually rename the .zip to .sca, which is then shown in the SDM but the deployment always fails.
How can we install this BP for ESS 4.6C on our newer SAP NW Portal used for our BW system?
    Many thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
Have you tried to unzip the file and identify the required deployment files?
    Further to this -->
If you go to /swdc it states BP ESS 4.6C-4.7 50.4 (no longer in maintenance) - this product is no longer in
    mainstream maintainence
Also there are no guarantees that 46C products will work with Enterprise Portal versions from other SAP product families
    e.g NW 700 with ESS 46C
If you have extended maintainence for 46C perhaps you could open a CSS/OSS message in component BC-CTS-SDM
to investigate why the installation fails and whether there is any workaround
    Hope this helps

  • WebDynpro ABAP integrated into the NetWeaver Portal - One for Mr Jung :)

    Hi
    <h2>Introduction</h2>
I've developed a WebDynpro Component that uses 8 other components.
The initial component has 1 view with a PhaseIndicator element with 8 phases.
Selecting a phase pops up a window of the appropriate components used as usage components.
Also, depending on certain config tables some windows might popup as soon as the application runs.
I've created an application for the component with the PhaseIndicator.
    <h4>The application works perfectly !</h4>
    <h2>Problem</h2>
<h4>When I integrate the application into the NetWeaver Portal it also works perfectly, in Dev that is.</h4>
When moving the application and all it's components to QA it also works perfectly if run on it's own. But, when embedded in an iview in the Portal, strange things happen
All the components that are usage components in the 1st component is displayed in the first window but not as pop ups.
They are all listed below each other with plenty of white space between them, below each other in one huge scrollable window.
    <h2>My Investigations</h2>
I've run a trace in Dev and QA and discovered that just before the Windows are displayed different code is run in the two systems. In Dev, the system executes a method of the class CL_WDR_SSR_LS but in QA the system executes the contructor class of a local method lcl_repository in the include LWDR_RUNTIME_REPOSITORYF12.
    <h2>Things I've tried - but did not work</h2>
    1) Removed my custom theme.
    2) Re-transported everything.
    3) Bounced the QA Portal
    4) Transported everything to Prod - It works perfectly in and out of the Prod system and Portal. BTW The ECC system of QA was refreshed from Prod 2 weeks ago.
    <h2>Finally - My Question</h2>
What the bleep do I do now
    Thank you for reading.

    Hi Bala,
thank you. This solved my problem.
Could you explain what the caused the problem?
    Best regards,
    Olaf

  • Changing login module stack for Netweaver Portal?

    G'day,
I want to change the login stack for Netweaver Portal (at http://<host:50100/irj).
Currently portal is configured in Visual Administrator to use the "ticket" authentication template. I can change this authentication template and change how I authenticate to portal.
But changing "ticket" authentication template also changes how other applications perform authentication. So I changed the login module stack for the "com.sap/irj*irj" component to not use an authentication template, and added my own login modules.
But when I access portal again, the "ticket" authentication is still used. I restarted the cluster to be sure but no matter what login modules I configure for "com.sap/irj*irj", only changes to "ticket" have any effect.
So: how do modify the login module stack for portal, without modifying the "ticket" authentication template?
    --Geoff

    Hi,
If you'd like to change the authentication stack only for the EP but not for all applications that use UME authentication, then you have to modify the descriptor authschemes.xml. You have to change the scheme "default" to point to another LM stack instead of "ticket" as it is shipped.
    Kind regards,
    Tsvetomir

  • Starting point for learning Netweaver

    Hello All,
I'm absolutely new to SAP world and also to Netwearver. I'm a Java/J2EE developer with a little bit exposer to SOA. Recently I got a thought of learning SAP and considering my development background and intention of making career towards SOA, thought of learning Netweaver and the first link in google directed me to this forum. I may be violating the basic rules of the forum, but trust me I searched for Netweaver and was dumped with lots of information, which is too confusing and anti productive.
Can some one guide me in understanding the learning process, pre-requisites in terms of knowledge and software for Netweaver? What is the starting point of this?
    Thanks
    Ravi C.Kota

    Hi ,
Basically your  from Programming. ,in SAP you can Opt for Developement side ie..,Sap ABAP.
    1) At first you can have a  look to Architecture.
2)Next you can learn basic things like..reports,ALV'S,BDC,Dialog programming,Object oriented programming(oops),Repository etc
    Thanks,
    Babitha

  • Future Music good for those who have not yet learned all

Future Music Magazine, which I get on the magazine rack at my WalMart, has some good stuff in November-December issues for those who need to learn more. I am talking about a two-part article, "The A to Z of digital music". or something like that. A through M is covered in the November issue. N through Z is planned for December. Topics A-Z are explained in a paragraph or more. EQ is covered for example. November also has a tutorial sort of thing on Reverb.
Future Music has not always been so helpful. I did not find much in the October issue akin to what I have mentioned above.
I think these two issues of Future Music will be quite helpful to me and perhaps to others among us also.
    LuckyMan

Correction. Various topics, beginning with A through Z, are EACH explained in a paragraph or more. Sometimes there is a little essay on a topic. Good for newbies and sometimes good for non-newbies who must do not know it all yet.

  • Industry Standard documentation for Technical Information related to Netweaver Portals

    Hi.
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I want to create documentation related to our Netweaver Portals, but I want the documentation to be based on Industry Standards related to Netweaver Portals.
Information which I will include in this document, will include the following, but not limited to:
    Naming Conventions
    Folder Logic
Roles (How to create and use them)
    Pages
    Worksets
    iViews
    etc..
Does someone know of a template which I can use and alter to fit my requirements?

    Hi Juandre,
There is not such template called Industry standard for NW portals.
Each firm have there own format and contents required by them .Objective of such documentation is to cover all the data points which can enable Technical support to provide necessary support for Portal environments.
Normally we include System landscape, URL details, OS details, Hardware details, DB details, SAP Portal technical details like version and patch level.
    Business point of contacts,
SOP to start and stop systems
    Known problems and resolutions
You may work out template based on above inputs.
    Hope this helps.

  • Single Sign-On Netweaver Portal with Cornerstone On Demand

    Hi
Does someone experiences with Single Sign-On between SAP Netweaver Portal and the Learning Management System of Cornerstone On Demand?
    The options are:
    - SAML: but at this moment we don't have SAML provider. Is it easy to use this with Netweaver 7.01 SP6 ?
    - standard SSO : encrypted string between SAP portal and LMS: client sends encrypted string with userid...based on encryption algorithm.: Has someone developed this (java code) for SSO to an other system?
But can they use Sap Login Tickets?
    Best regards
    Luc

    Hi,
I just recently implemented SSO between SAP system and on demand solution from 3rd party provider. We didn't have any guy with Java skills so we implemented HTTP handler in SICF that generates web page with redirection to the 3rd party system. ABAP does not have a good support for various encryption algorithms so we used javascript interpreter available in ABAP AS. Portal just points to ICF service on ECC system that redirects to on demand solution. Implementation took one day. Obviously, in this case all users had to have account in ECC system.
    Cheers
