Learning Portal -Confirm Participation

Hi Folks,
I have set up a e-leaning course with follow up control option as below
Learning portal A
System B
System E
When ever learner click the button - Confirm participation before starting the course (progress throgh course ) the system is throwing a FLASE button which says can't complete the course.
I just want to know how to reset this FALSE button so that the learner can confirm participation once they compe course.

I tried that. You can set this to Scorm in the authoring environ ment as well for the specific learning Net.Did not work.
One more test we tried was segementing the course as 5 Learning objects. Now you can see the completion progress as 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% depending on what segment the learner logs off from the Content Player. More number of LOs, better the progress tracking.

Hello ,
My client wants to print "course participation document" from the learner portal when the participant completes web based training. Also the name of participant and WBT should be in it.

I tried your first suggestion before. I made an instructional element as a last activity in AE but I could not write pariticipant and training type texts in the instructional element.
They don't want to a fix text in the course participation document,they want to see participation name,the text of training type and a fix text. So how can I use AE for this request?

Confirm Partcipation Link in Learning Portal

I would like to know if a Learner can receive a Qualification or Credit for the Course without having to Confirm Participation.
The System should rate the Participation and upon passing the Course or Completing the Course it should automatically award the Qualification.
We are with LSO 600 and I know we have a bunch of Follow up Control options that may be used to do it.

LSO Portal: link 'confirm participation' shows up randomly

Hello,
the link 'confirm participation' shows with some participants after having finished a training, enabling them to follow it up. With other participants taking the identical training, passing and finishing it the link does not show up, so they can't follow it up. The participants all have the same auhorizations, took the training within a certain time frame and absolutely nothing has been changed in regard of training version, follow-up options etc. We're on LSO 604, SP 5 - has anyone encountered the same problem or has an idea as to what causes this random behaviour?

Please note that this issue comes when you have the setting in table V_LSOFUPROCESS as >
System I Follow up Course
In this case, when the first attendee is followed up, the system sets the FLUPX flag in the IT1026 i.e. course type info and the other attendees can not see the confirm participation link.
Please have the setting for followup course in the above table as
Backend I Follow up Course (for the corresponding delivery method)
and then test the scenario.
This will work correctly.
And for the courses for which the FLUPX is already set for the course, you may write down a report to uncheck the FLUPX for the particular courses.

SAP LSO- (WBT)Confirm Participation link in course detail page is missing

The end user has finished working on the content and has properly logged off and closed the Content Player.
When he comes to the course detail page in the Learning Portal, he finds that the 'Confirm Participation' link is missing.
Following is the configration that has been set for the Course Type( has the delivery method 0003-WBT)-
SPRO(Training and Event Management->SAP Learning Solution->Training Management->Recurring Activites->Follow-Up->Control of Process Steps)
0003, L, K, SIGNATURE(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
0003, S, C, SIGNATURE(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
0003, S, E, SIGNATURE(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
0003, S, G, SIGNATURE(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
IT5047 has the following settings for the course type-
L, A, Signat. On/Off(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
S, B, Signat. On/Off(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
S, C, Signat. On/Off(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
B, I, Signat. On/Off(BLANK), ACTIVATE(X)
The 'Confirm Participation' link should have appeared. Suggestions on root cause of the problem and problem resolution are appreciated.

Batch job to follow up WBT participation in LSO (confirm participation)

Hi,
We are finding a lot of our users in LSO are neglecting to click on "Confirm Participation" in the Learning Portal after successfully completing their web-based training.
Of course, this means that the course remains in their "current" training activities area and most importantly, this means that the qualification related to this course type is not imparted.
Due to this, we are looking at setting up a batch job to run nightly. This job will look for situations where a person has successfully completed eLearning but neglects to confirm participation. In these cases, the system will confirm participation for them.
What is the best way to make this happen?

"Our WBT courses do not get followed up at all in the new standard way."
We experienced this as well after implementing the solution in note 1796928. The cause of our problem turned out to be a missing authorization on the user account we use to run the web content player. In our case, the user had no read authority for infotype 1001 so function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C never made the call to function ZLSO_IF_AUTO_CONFIRM.
To discover the cause, we needed to debug function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C, however since it runs in a separate task we couldn't debug directly.
To get around this, we added messages of type X at various points in the function's enhancement code. This forced the function to dump at runtime, and we then looked at the runtime error log to see the contents of the dump message. This enabled us to find the problem. Maybe you could try this same debug-via-dump approach to identify the source of your problem.
Another thing to check is that users have authorization object P_LSO_FOUP.
I also want to mention that as part of our implementation, we made the same enhancement to function LSO_CP_WRITE_SCORMDATA as was made to function LSO_LA_SAVE_LEARNINFO_C so that function LSO_CP_WRITE_SCORMDATA also calls function ZLSO_IF_AUTO_CONFIRM.

Learning Portal for SAP LSO

Hi,
We are implementing SAP Learning Solutions in our org.
According to the information i read in the forum, apart from the R/3, Learning Portal is used on EP.
My understanding is :
The Learnign Portal is the entry point for Learners in SAP LSO. And one has to call the BSP application "HCM_LEARNING" from EP through a BSP iView and it will call the Learning Portal of LSO.
This learnig portal has features like,
Searching the course catalog, Book/cancel course participation etc.
is my understanding correct ?
I also want to know Is there any Web Dynpro for ABAP component also involved in Learning Portal or the BSP application HCM_LEARNING itself takes care of all the functionalities.
Please help.

Difference: SAP Learning Solution - Training and Event Manag
All of the settings required for the SAP Learning Solution are contained under SAP Learning Solution in the sections Training Management and Learning Portal and Authoring Environment.
The activities in the sections that follow do not apply to the SAP Learning Solution, but to Training and Event Management
LSO contains many additional functionalities and the portal is based on BSP Application.
In Authoring Environment, you can create course content or import the SCORM based contents in the same for playing in the content player. You have the options of offline player etc.
Customize the followup functions.
There is no Webdynpro involved in the learning portal however in EHP4 and above, the webdynpro is used in the
administrator portal and instructor portal and there are many new functionalities being added in EHP4 and above which is the latest developments.
Learning portals in all the releases is based on BSP Application HCM_LEARNING.
Below releases, you can have the ESS integrated via PV7i and PV8i.

Can we automatically follow up WBT w/o "Confirm Participation" button?

Has anyone figured out how to automatically follow up WBT w/o using the "Confirm Participation" button?
We have found that it is not intuitive for the user to complete a WBT course and then still have to click "Confirm Participation" on the portal page.
In cases where the user used the "Start Course Now" link on the "My Training Activities" page, they are not returned to the Course Details page where the "Confirm Participation" link is available.

Two things...
1) I also find the Start Course Now link to be a problem...I will probably remove it from page so that the only open for starting is to click the hyperlink to the Course Type page from the Current Training Activities page.
2) We have a batch program which runs nightly, looking for situations where person has successfully completed Elearning or an Online test, but neglects to Confirm Participation. In that case, the system will confirm participation for them.

Learning portal does not check Prerequisite qualifications while booking

Hi,
We recently upgraded to EP4 and saw an issue on the learning portal.
When there are pre-requisite qulaifications attached to a course type, learning portal should check if the Learner has the prerequisite qulaification in his/her qualification profile and indicate if booking could be done or not.
We notice that learning portal is bypassing the check and shows the message ' The results of the prerequisites check indicate that you can book this course.' and does the booking successfully.

Function module LSO_TRAININGTYPE_GET_DETAIL_C
This function module is responsible for performing the prerequisite checks and determining whether the booking is possible or not by setting the flag NO_BOOKING_POSSIBLE. You can find that after executing the above function module for the learner that whether the value is space for flag NO_BOOKING_POSSIBLE.
This way you can findout the reason for the behaviour.

LSO External Users booking courses from Learning Portal !!!

We want external user book a course using LSO. In order to do that, we have created the same user in Portal and R3 (using SSO). This user has related an External Person object "H" using infotype 1032, subtype 0001. The problem comes when this user booked from R3, and thru Portal we are not able to see any course at all..... If the user books from portal, R3 is booked as "US" object instead of "H" object. My questions are:
1. Is this configuration OK ? What else I am missing ?
2. Can results from courses be saved for external user in R3 (H object) ?
3. How can we save final results for external user using Portal ?

Thank you for your information, but is showing courses in portal. The problem comes with external user from portal, when users book a course from Portal, is register (R3) with the object "US" instead of "H" External Person. If we book the user from R3 with object "H" (External user) it does not showing any course in Portal. I believe it has something to do with the BADI (Assignment User ID to Learner)
"In this IMG activity you make the settings required for deriving the learner from the user ID. In the standard system, the user ID is used to find the person, who in turn represents the learner. If the SAP system cannot determine a related person, the user ID is used as the learner. For example, you can determine a business partner or an external person as learners with the help of the user ID and use these in the Learning Portal "

Booking a course from Learning portal

Hi,
I tried booking a course from the R/3 side. It gets booked properly..When i try to book it from the Learning portal..i am getting a blank page once i click the book button. The course is not getting booked??

We are having a challenge with our content player. We are on ECC 5.0 and LSO 300. When we interrupt a course and want to resume the course, the course is not resumed from the point of interruption, it starts from the start page. Can anyone tell, if we are missing anything or how to get it right.

Please let me know if anyway we can avoid a learner to request for cancellation of booking thru Learning Portal.
Is there any modification which can be done in "hcm_learning" bsp to hide the cancel buttom ? or any other better way? Please suggest

any validation/authorization check kicks in only after the user hits the 'cancel' button.. why show it if you are going to prevent the action any away.. hiding it in the BSP is better..

Is java only portal good enough for LSO learning portal?

I did several LSO projects on XSS usage type which is ABAP+JAVA.
Now I wonder if LSO learning portal can be on a JAVA only portal (i.e. not XSS usage type ).
Could you tell is this possible?

You can use LSO on java part.

In Portal, if the Learning Portal page is added in the Employee Self Service role then, the portal test ser should have Employee Self Service role.
Please ask Portal consultant of your team to identify the role and assign it to the Portal test user which you are using for testing.
And in Org Structure there should be a manager for that test user. This manager user should have manager self service role in Portal so that a work flow Task will get created in Manager's inbox in MSS.
